00:00Well, there's a couple things that you've got to be able to clean up.
00:03A lot of times, particularly when you don't play well, you like to say,
00:08we're going to not even watch the film or we're going to tear it up
00:11and we'll move on immediately.
00:12Burn the tape, right.
00:13Yeah, you'll burn the tape.
00:14But I think it's important for you not to burn this particular tape.
00:17And the only reason, you still have to be able to teach.
00:21You still have to be able to enforce and teach.
00:23And I know there's a line of thought of this team being tired.
00:33There is some truth to that.
00:37You should be tired.
00:39I mean, it's 90 plays, 80 plays, 47 plays, and, oh, a game in between there.
00:46All within a, what, 10-day period?
00:49I'm not even counting the Rams game.
00:51I'm just counting leading up to the Rams game.
00:55So, yes, you should be tired.
00:59But I can't use you being tired as an excuse to not go out and execute
01:05at the level that needs to be executed.
01:09There will be points in the seasons where you are tired.
01:13That's a part of it.
01:15But you still have to be able to execute.
01:17What was it, 12 penalties for right at 96 yards, right at 100 yards?
01:23That's seven points in itself.
01:25That is seven points that you've given up in penalties.
01:29And you cost yourself points on the board,
01:33at least just putting points on the board or having opportunities
01:36with points on the board with penalties.
01:41And a lot of them are things that you can control.
01:44It's one thing to have a penalty where it's officiating can say,
01:53oh, that's a hold.
01:55Or, you know, that looked like pass interference to me.
01:59When you have alignment penalties, that's a problem.
02:04You can be tired all you want, but that is a problem.
02:08And I think, you know, one of the things that from a coaching standpoint
02:13and a player's standpoint, you have to get to where we're holding
02:17each other accountable.
02:18And I'm using where we as myself, if I was a player,
02:22even though I did not play, there's always a thought that I have to hold
02:27my room accountable.
02:29I have to be a – I can't expect a coach to just yell at me
02:33and we all get it right.
02:35If I am going to lead that group of men and, you know, at some point,
02:41all right, we all come together, your offense, you know,
02:43whether it's offensive line, tight ends, quarterbacks, receivers, and backs,
02:47there has to be – there's a leader in each one of those groups.
02:50We have to hold each other accountable.
02:54And so you're not to a panic point yet.
03:00I mean, you're far from that.
03:03But at the same time, you got to be accountable for each other.
03:08And so that's where it's – you know, it's just like – because if this was
03:11one game, you'd be all right, cool.
03:14You know, that was just, you know, something that happened.
03:17But we can't sit there and be honest and say that was just one game.
03:21Jaguars eight penalties.
03:23That's what I'm talking about.
03:25You've seen it happen previously.
03:27Training camp practice, there were issues lining up.
03:29There's penalties.
03:31And so at some point, you got to say, all right,
03:35I don't think that they're teaching us this,
03:39but I can't continue to do it wrong.
03:44Because at some point, guess what?
03:47At some point, somebody else is going to be in the building.
03:51Who can get it right.
03:53I don't know if they can get it right, but it's going to be somebody else
03:55that's doing it.

04:00That's just, that's the league that you play in.
04:04You know, that's just what it is.
04:07And so that's from an accountability standpoint.
04:13And look, I get it.

04:17You can go and say, well, those are not our starters.
04:21At some point, he may be.
04:25At some point, he may be your starter.
04:27It also wasn't the Ram starters either.
04:30I'm not even, I can't even, I can't, I can't.
04:31You're not even worried about the other side.
04:33Yeah, I'm not worried about the other side because if I can't hold myself
04:35accountable, how can I worry about what somebody else is doing?
04:38Yeah.
04:39You know, at some point, this young man that's in the game, he may play a
04:44significant amount of plays.
04:46Whether you want to label him a starter or not, that does not matter.
04:50If he's not doing the job right, guess what?
04:55He's not helping you win.
04:56Find someone else.
04:57And somebody else will be able to come in and help you win.
05:01And so that's what it really, at the end of the day, that's what it's going
05:06to boil down to.
05:07You may not have had enough talent anyway to beat the other team, but if you
05:14can't do the little things right to even put yourself in position to, it's
05:19just hard.
05:22I'm serious.
05:23Football's hard, what?
05:23It's just hard.
05:25It's hard.
05:26The game is hard enough already.
05:28But, I mean, you've got to be able to do the little things right.
05:30And so.
05:32Alignment, assignment, execution.
05:34That's what it's about.
05:35And I still may not have enough talent, but you can do those things right.
05:41If you can do those things right, then you give yourself a chance.
05:44Is that like one of the biggest things you're hoping to see, at least in this
05:48preseason finale, is just being on the same page and not getting these pre-snap
05:52penalties?
05:53That seems to be just a drive killer, momentum killer, whatever you want to call
05:57it for them.
05:57Well, it stops you from being able to find rhythm.
06:03Offensively, you go to Kendra Miller, the first three plays that he has, they're five
06:10really, really good runs.
06:11I mean, they're three really, really good runs.
06:14You know, it's four, it's five, it's whatever it was, you know, another four.
06:21And I hate to pick on the rook, but that was one thing.
06:26We talked about it.
06:28It just wasn't that game.
06:29There are some other guys on that offensive line.
06:32I love you playing aggressive, but you got to be able to control it.
06:37You got to understand and know that one, I'm a big man.
06:42So, if I come through and I hit somebody out in the middle and the open of the field, where
06:52now I got these other six refs looking at me instead of one ref trying to look at me,
06:57see if I'm pulling a jersey or pulling on somebody, it's going to be a flag.
07:02Yeah, too easy even to call.
07:04You can't clean up the pile anymore.
07:06They ruled that out years ago.

07:19So, it's control, aggression, and that's just one play.

07:30to be a really, really good player.
07:31But you've got to be able to, that aggression, I've got to know when I can do it and what

07:36can do and how I can go and do it.
07:39Because I can play as dirty and as nasty as I want to, but I've got to do it at
07:44the right
07:44time.
07:45And it's just controlled to be able to control it to where I'm not hurting my teammates.

09:40You know, you're going to get hurt or there's a possibility for you to get hurt.
09:44And so, Jeremiah, I hope it's not for him, but I've seen it happen.

09:51And so, I've seen, I've gotten them before.
09:54Like I said, I got one for a chop block.
09:56And it was just a 15-yard penalty.

10:01But even in the preseason, when you do get those letters from the NFL, they don't say,
10:06oh, it's preseason, so the fine is less or reduced.
10:10They just take it out your check.
10:13They just take it out your check and they go forward with it.
10:16So, you don't even have to pay them.
10:18They just automatically deduct.

10:20You don't get the option of, oh, I'm going to FedEx you a check or send me your routing
10:25information.
10:26I'll send you the money back.
10:28No, they get it before you even get your stuff.

10:37And if you're not making enough, then we'll get it out your first game check.

10:45And then if you don't make the squad, we're going to kind of write an IOU.
10:49Whenever you do make a squad, the NFL, they are going to get their money.

10:56So, whether it's then, immediately, or later on, they will get their money if they do hit

11:03But for me, I want them to play better, not necessarily from effort.
11:09I would like to see better effort, but I want to see better execution.
11:13I want to see better continuity, and I want to see better.
11:17I want you to just go out there with some rhythm.
