00:00You know, I heard all of this hype on Victor Wamanyamba when he came into the NBA and he was
00:06drafted by the San Antonio Spurs.
00:08Spurs, one of the greatest organizations in all of professional sports dating back when you had when you had all
00:15those great players, like you saw the greatness of that organization.
00:21Tim Duncan, you had Manu Ginobili, Tony Parker winning that five championships with Greg Popovich.
00:27You knew that that organization was one of the best organizations for 20 plus years.
00:33And so when you started to see that thing melt down a little bit, and then when you saw the
00:38fact that Kawhi Leonard didn't want to stay there any longer, you started to see the organization going the other
00:43way.
00:43And all of a sudden they get this guy, Wemby.
00:46They bring in Wemby and I was not sold at the beginning, but man, let me tell you something.
00:51He is without a doubt as advertised.
00:55He is now the first player in NBA history to garner all of the votes for defensive player of the
01:03year.
01:03Not only that, but you're talking about Victor Wamanyamba right now as a guy who gives you 25 and 11
01:10and three assists and three blocks per game.
01:13And you're talking the best defender in the NBA and he's seven for this guy to me reminds me of
01:21a king.
01:22This guy reminds me of Jabbar.
01:25So let me put this in context here for you.
01:27When you watch him play, you're watching old school basketball and a guy that wants to play 48 minutes.
01:34When you're the defensive player of the year in the NBA, that means you give a crap about wanting to
01:42play on both sides of the court, not just shooting threes.
01:46Shoot threes, shoot threes.
01:48That's what the league has turned into.
01:50Victor Wamanyamba, he plays 48 minutes of basketball, which means what?
01:56Hey, what a novel idea.
01:58This guy gives you effort.
01:59You put a couple NBA championships around this guy, you're going to be talking about one of the greatest players
02:05in the history of the sport.
02:07I make this conversation about Kareem all the time.
02:11Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, in my opinion, is the greatest NBA player of all time.
02:17And I have the numbers and the wins to prove it.
02:21Everyone goes to Jordan and now they're talking LeBron James.
02:24Well, let me go to context here for you.
02:26When he was at Power Memorial in high school, undefeated, when he went to UCLA, three straight national championships, player
02:36of the year at UCLA.
02:38By the way, he lost one game with John Wooden at UCLA.
02:43He goes to the NBA.
02:44What does he do?
02:45He gets drafted by the Milwaukee Bucks.
02:48That dude ends up winning an NBA championship with Oscar Robertson.
02:52He goes to the Los Angeles Lakers.
02:54He's got to wait for Magic to show up.
02:56The guy ends up winning five more NBA championships.
03:00Kareem is the best player to ever play.
03:03And this guy, Victor Wamanyaba, look at the numbers.

03:13This is Jabbar stuff.
03:15Ask yourself this question.
03:17If you had to have either him, Victor Wamanyaba, or Jordan shooting the last shot of a game, who would
03:24you choose?
03:26A guy on the box in Kareem, Wemby, or a 20-footer by Jordan?
03:31The odds would tell you, you have a better shot of winning ball games with the guy on the box
03:37with the higher percentage basketball shot than a guy shooting a 20-footer.
03:41As great as Jordan was, no question, one of the top three players of all time.
03:48Kareem's skyhook was undefensible.
03:51You couldn't defend the shot.
03:53This is what you have with this kid.
03:56Remember something about Jabbar as well.
03:59Kareem labored getting up and down the court.
04:02This kid runs like Olajuwon.
04:04When Olajuwon was at his height, and he was winning the player of the year on defense, and putting up
04:1035 a night with the Rockets, nobody could defend him.
04:14He was shutting guys like Shaquille O'Neal out in the NBA Finals when he was with the Magic.
04:21This guy's worth the price of admission.
04:24Like I said, look, he's a little banged up right now.
04:26He's got a concussion.
04:27Whether or not he's going to be available for Game 4 in that series is yet to be determined.
04:32But, man, what an absolutely great start to his career.
04:36You're looking at totally one of the greatest players in the history of the NBA.
04:42And when you start putting championships around this guy, you may be talking at the end of the day, one
04:48of the greatest NBA players that's ever laced him up.
04:51And I'm talking about Jabbar, Shaquille O'Neal, I'm talking LeBron, and I'm also talking about, again, obviously, Michael Jordan.
05:01This guy's 7'4", and he runs the floor for 48 minutes.
05:06What a tremendous basketball player, and he is appointment-setting television.
05:12One of the true things that you want to tune in the NBA for, a guy that actually cares.
