00:00The Jets have made their pick on day two of the draft.
00:04At number 50, they took Indiana cornerback D'Angelo Pons.
00:07This is the only pick the Jets have on Friday night.
00:10They had number 44, traded back to 50 with the Lions,
00:15picked up another fourth-round pick.
00:16Pons is a really interesting pick for the Jets
00:19because he's a 5'9 cornerback, just like his head coach Aaron Glenn,
00:22famously undersized cornerback that the Jets took in 1994 in the first round,
00:27and he worked out pretty well for them, and he's now the head coach.
00:29Now he takes another 5'9 cornerback.
00:32Pons is another player the Jets took from the national champion, Indiana Hoosiers.
00:37They selected Omar Cooper in the first round.
00:39Now they take another one.
00:41Aaron Glenn said on Thursday night that he felt it was important
00:44to take players from winning programs.
00:46The Jets have done that, taking David Bailey from Texas Tech,
00:49Kenyon Sadiq from Oregon, and now two players from Indiana.
00:52Indiana won the national championship.
00:54Oregon and Texas Tech were in the playoffs.
00:56The Jets need playmakers on the back end,
00:58and that's what Pons is,
00:59and we'll see if he can break through to the starting lineup
01:02and give them some production at cornerback that they desperately need.
