00:25On Friday, the Court of Appeal upheld a ruling ordering her to pay 825,000 ringgit in damages
00:32for defaming three senior DAP leaders.
00:35A three-member bench led by Justice Datuk Ahmad Kamal Mohamed Shaheed,
00:39sitting with Justices Datin Paduka Evrol Mariette Peters and Datuk Seri Latifa Mohamed Tahar,
00:45dismissed Siti Mastura's appeal, finding it had no merit.
00:49The Court fully upheld the earlier Penang High Court decision from December last year,
00:53which found her guilty of defamation against Tan Sri Lim Kik Siang, Lim Guan Eng and Teresa Koch.
01:00The Court was particularly critical of Siti Mastura's conduct,
01:04noting that she never apologised, never retracted her statements
01:07and never even attempted to verify the claims before making them publicly.
01:12The judges said this showed a clear disregard for the truth.
01:15She had already paid the full damages and legal costs,
01:19totaling more than 830,000 ringgit, back in January this year.
01:24Siti Mastura has not indicated whether she will take the matter further.
