The RM5mil defamation suit filed by Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad against former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak over a Facebook post six years ago has been settled out of court.

Dzulkefly withdrew the lawsuit after Najib made a clarification on his post, posted in Aug 2020, in a consent judgment recorded before Kuala Lumpur High Court Justice Mahazan Mat Taib on Thursday (April 9).

00:27Matt Taib on Thursday. In his statement, Najeeb acknowledged that Zulkifli had no involvement
00:33in appointing his daughter, Nurul Iman Zulkifli, to the boards of AM Solutions Group Erhad
00:39in April 2018 and Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia in October 2018. Najeeb said the post was made in his capacity
00:49as an MP and was intended as general political commentary on governance, administration and
00:55appointments to government-linked entities. The court recorded no order as to costs.
01:01The settlement came on the third day of the hearing, after Zulkifli and his daughter had testified.
01:07Zulkifli filed the suit in January 2022, alleging the August 24, 2020 post implied he had practiced
01:16nepotism. Najeeb maintained in his defense that the post was directed at the Pakatan coalition,
01:22not Zulkifli.
