00:0550,000 ringgit in cash, allegedly linked to the son of an opposition leader.
00:11Kuzairi Yahaya, the deputy CEO of SSM, claimed trial at the sessions court in Kuala Lumpur
00:17on Thursday.
00:18He pleaded not guilty to receiving a valuable item without consideration from Muhammad Faisal
00:22Hamza, the son of Datuk Seri Hamza Zainuddin.
00:26According to the charge sheet, the alleged offence took place at SSM headquarters in
00:30May 2018.
00:33Kuzairi was charged in his capacity as deputy CEO of Registration and Business Services at
00:38the time, and the cash received was said to have a link to his official duties.
00:42He was charged under Section 165 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum penalty of two
00:47years' imprisonment, a fine, or both.
00:50The prosecution proposed a bail of 15,000 ringgit and requested the court to seize the
00:55accused's passport, along with a requirement to report monthly to the M.A.C.C. pending
01:00disposal of the case.
01:02The defence did not object.
01:04Judge Susanna Hussin allowed bail at 15,000 ringgit and imposed all additional conditions.
