Lead counsel for former prime minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, Datuk Hisyam Teh Pok Teik, said the criminal charges against his client are vague, placing the defence at a disadvantage in preparing its case.

Speaking after trial proceedings at the Kuala Lumpur High Court on Monday (March 9), he said the charge documents lack clear details on how the alleged offences were committed or what actions were purportedly taken by Muhyiddin.

Meanwhile, lawyer Datuk Amer Hamzah Arshad said the prosecution had yet to establish the relevance of TikTok videos presented in court by a Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) officer.

00:05Today the prosecution had started the case against Tan Sri Muhyiddin. The first witness that the
00:12prosecution called was an MACC officer, but the evidence that the said officer attended in court
00:20are just recordings or videos that he obtained or downloaded from TikTok account.
00:28So at the moment they have not even established the relevancy of the said TikTok video. Clearly what had been
00:37established through cross-examination that the video had been edited,
00:42adopted, and despite that the witness admitted that yes they decided to use it as part of their investigation and
00:49part of their case.
00:50Honestly, the video, the recording is totally of no value whatsoever. I think it is a sad day if we
00:59have to start relying on TikTok contents as part of your evidence.
01:03So it is a sad day as far as we are concerned when you can't rely on credible evidence but
01:09instead it resorted to contents from TikTok.
01:13And that's all. That's what inspired in court today.
01:16This morning we also made objection to the court as regards the charges being preferred against Tan Sri.
01:23It's our contention with respect to the prosecution that the charges are bad, especially the abuse of charges power, charges
01:32and all that.
01:33No particulars were given compared to the other cases. So we are proceeding in this case with a disadvantage.
01:40A wonderful name later, Anisha, we have received a second.
01:43You're approving that.
01:46But you're being here for us to protect this country.
01:49You are happy to protect the country.
01:53You're not happy to protect this country, you're not happy to protect this country, you're right.
01:53We are going with this country and that's where we are going with this country.
