00:11of activist Amri Chaimat. Both men remain missing to this day. A three-judge panel,
00:17chaired by Justice Dr. Alwi Abdul Wahab, dismissed appeals filed by Ko's wife, Susanna
00:22Liu, and Amri's wife, Norhayati Arifin, against the stay order. The other judges on the panel
00:28were Justices Dr. Shanaz Sulaiman and Amarjeet Singh. In the unanimous decision on Wednesday,
00:34Justice Alwi said the high court judge had correctly applied the principles of law in
00:39governing the grant of a stay. Ko, founder of the NGO Harapan Community, was abducted by a group of
00:47armed men in Petaling Jaya on February 13, 2017, while on his way to a friend's house. Susanna
00:54Liu filed a civil suit against 13 defendants, including the government, over her husband's
00:59disappearance in February 2020. Meanwhile, activist Amri Chaimat was reported abducted in Perlis
01:05around midnight on November 24, 2016, with his vehicle seen surrounded by three cars and five
01:12men. His wife later filed a suit against the police and the government over his disappearance
01:17and the authorities' handling of the investigation. Both cases remain unresolved.
