00:00This is like really good probiotic. It's like drinking the kombucha. You could just
00:03drink this juice. It's delicious. So we've been plastic water bottle free on
00:08this bus for over 10 years. I'm a Gaviscon if I have too many cookies.
00:42Hey, what's up? Welcome to the G-Love and Special Sauce Tour Bus. Come on on.
00:47All right, guys. What's up? I'm G-Love of G-Love and Special Sauce. We're out here
00:50on our 2026 winter tour, which is the 20th anniversary of our Lemonade record,
00:59which was released in 2006. Wow. Anyhow, we just were on the fifth day of our first
01:09week here. So going into two days off. I'm heading home tomorrow. But yeah, we're here
01:14in Evanston, Illinois. And the tour is going great. Looks like we're going to be sold out
01:19tonight at a venue called Space. We're out with our friend Makua Rothman. And yeah,
01:25that's it. So want to come check out our bus? It's pretty sweet.
01:28Look, man. I'm just going to be completely honest. I'm not a big tech person. And usually
01:33I don't even know how the fuck these TVs work. There's a lot of stuff. But yeah, we're
01:38actually having a problem because our tour manager, Kyle, he like, we were on, we had
01:43YouTube TV. And then he, he's like a gamer or something. And he put the YouTube TV off.
01:50And now it's just stuck on YouTube. And so long story short is that they, oh, did they get
01:57it back? Because basically that's great news. Looks like they might be back online here.
02:03Which is great because I'm a Philadelphia Eagles fan. And the Eagles game is about to start
02:08after we do our tour at 3.30 here in the central time zone. So anyways, yeah, it's pretty sweet.
02:18Um, you know, these buses are super dope. Um, and you got the two TVs. So you can be sitting
02:24here watching TV and you can come sit over here and watch TV. You got your homies. And so we,
02:30you know, what do we watch? The guys like to watch like a lot of South Park, um, family guy.
02:37They seem to be total degenerates. They're grown men that just want to watch cartoons. Um, I'm not
02:44a real big TV person, honestly. I don't really have time. My, my wife watches shows constantly.
02:50Constantly. My kids are addicted to the fucking screen. And I'm, uh, I'm all about, uh, arts and
02:56crafts and doing chores and shit like that. So, um, every once in a while I'll have a movie
03:02night though, you know, and of course the game day, this is my day to watch some TV. So I've
03:07pushed sound check way back to make it just a five minute sound check so I can watch my
03:11game. Go birds, baby. The tour bus is great. I'm just going to be honest. It's very expensive
03:17to rent a tour bus and it's becoming, um, almost, um, no, what's the word? Unfathomable,
03:26unsustainable, unfathomable. Yeah, that works too. But yeah, it's all, it's, it's almost
03:31becoming unsustainable for us to tour in a tour bus, which we've been lucky enough to
03:36have been in a tour bus for 30 years since 1996 was our first tour in a tour bus. So
03:41before
03:42that we were in a van and the van tours props to all the kids out there doing the van
03:46tours
03:46because that is a tough, uh, thing. So the best thing about being on a bus is health and wellness.
03:54And having creature comforts and also staying out of trouble because after the show, you
03:59don't go out to the bars. Well, I guess you can for a little bit, but the bus leaves and
04:02goes to the next town and that's when we have, you know, maybe a late night snack and, um, hang
04:09out for a little bit and just, you know, kick it and then get some sleep, get ready for the
04:14next show. So we've got all our food and stuff. So let's say, let's see, we're just, we're one
04:19we got so we don't have a ton of stuff. Oh, well, that's nothing really in there. It's
04:23some paper towel. Um, let's see what we got down here in these drawers. Usually keep some
04:28beverages down here. So there's some trash and Pellegrino. I like to keep a rider pretty
04:34healthy. Well, see like we're not fully stocked yet. So, oh, Sun Cruiser. This is our tour sponsor,
04:42Sun Cruiser. Would you like one? And, uh, I'll have one when we're talking to get ready
04:49for the game, of course. Uh, but Sun Cruiser is awesome because, hey, like I was just saying,
04:55it's, it's, it's tough out here in the business. Sun Cruiser's backing our tour and that's awesome.
05:01So props to Sun Cruiser for supporting loud music and creating this delicious cold beverage.
05:06Yeah, I recommend. Um, let's see what we have over here. Cheers, guys.
05:16Feels like we're in at the beach. So here, um, Coca-Cola, you know, I'm not a big Coke drinker,
05:25but some of the guys like it. Uh, some of the guys like sparkling water, ginger beers, go great
05:32with tequila. Uh, uh, just some beers overflow. We always try to get local craft beer and also
05:43maybe, um, Corona or High Life or something, but I always like to support local craft breweries
05:51and distilleries when possible. High noons, Kyle at TM likes to have his RTDs. You know what
05:58it is. Ready to drink beverages. Um, always like to get some fruits and vegetables on the
06:04rider. So bananas are always a staple. Ginger, uh, make some tea. Uh, we got tomato. We got
06:12avocado because it's a great snack. Just slice this open. A little fresh lime. We got red
06:18onions and tomatoes. So yeah, this, so look, so what, what they were pretty proud about is
06:23a rider. And, um, you know, cause you figure it out after, as the years go by and kind
06:28of hone in on it. But some things you have to understand is that you have this hospitality
06:34budget. So because we're out here working and trying to earn a living, the more stuff
06:41that we can have the hospitality budget pay for that we don't have to come out of pocket
06:45and eat is great for the crew and the band and me. And, um, so that being said today, I'm
06:51not going to go to a restaurant because look, I got this beautiful rotisserie chicken. It's
06:55making my mouth water right now. Like seriously, I'm fucking hungry. But yeah, some of the guys,
07:01um, it's like, we got bagels, we got smoked salmon. So you can make delicious, you know,
07:07smoked salmon, bagel, got the cream cheese, you know, where's the cream cheese? Um, the red
07:15onion and tomato. Mmm. And we always, so why just get cold cuts when you could get chicken
07:20salad, tuna salad, stuff like that. You know, again, we'll get the fresh tomatoes. Um, we
07:27got a bag of kale in here. Uh, a box of arugula. So, you know what I'm saying? We really,
07:34one
07:35thing we like to drink is picklebacks. If you ever had that whiskey and pickle juice, of course,
07:40the, uh, our go-to is Bubbies. They have the delicious, this shit is making me really hungry.
07:46All this shit. They got the Bubbies. It's the fermented. It's not, it's, this is, uh, fermented.
07:54So this is like really good probiotic. It's like drinking the kombucha. You could just drink
07:58this juice. It's delicious. And that being said, we have that. And then also the other probiotic
08:04Bubbies. Sauerkraut, right? I know we're here in Chicago, the big hot dog town. So, what do
08:13we have here? Well, these aren't Chicago dogs, but these are Long Island Nathan's famous, uh,
08:18Frank. So, again, you know what I'm saying? Just reset that. Uh, we don't usually get a fruit
08:25tray. However, Makua, who's, uh, out on tour with us, he didn't want his fruit tray. So we
08:32have been good. Hummus. Like I said, craft beer. So urban underdog. Where was this from
08:38the other night? In St. Louis, where we kicked off the tour. So St. Louis, play St. Louis,
08:44drink St. Louis beer. Last night, we're in Milwaukee, play Milwaukee, drink Lakefront Brewery,
08:54brewed in Milwaukee. Frank, my tech. He's a yogurt guy. As a vocalist, yogurt stunts are great
09:02for me. But Chobani, we got the oat milk. And another thing we love to have is kombuchas,
09:10uh, to start off the day. So, yeah. Suncruiser in there. And so, as, like, different people come
09:20in and out of the band on their journeys of life, they all kind of add to the rider,
09:25and then some of the stuff stays on. So, um, our dear friend, Van Gordon, amazing, Van
09:30Gormar, amazing lead guitar player who was with us. He loved these Stumptown iced coffees. He's
09:36not on tour right now. No fault of his own. But, um, we, Van, this is for you, brother.
09:42It's still on the rider from you. And Chuck Therese, our, uh, our, our former drummer. He
09:48was a guy who had ginger and stuff like that. So, anyways, here's our snack drawer. So, you
09:54know, we got the cashews. So, we're starting to stock up. You have to manage this stuff.
09:59Gluten-free bread, because Nate, uh, who's filling in for Jimmy Jazz is gluten-free on the bread.
10:05Um, we got the seaweed snacks. So, then when we get to the back, ah, get to the back lounge,
10:13I'll show you all this shit that I'm taking home to my kids, because basically, like, if you have
10:16kids, you know, kids fucking eat so many snacks. So, I take, when I'm going home on my days off
10:21right
10:21now, I do what's called looting the rider. And then I take, I gotta leave enough stuff for the
10:27guys to have snacks on the day off. But, I gotta unload this stuff, because that's one less thing I
10:32gotta buy at the grocery store. Like I said, we got the bagels, nice popcorn. It's all really good
10:39stuff, you know, just trying to keep it healthy. And, um, so yeah, over here, this is a really cool
10:45thing about this bus. This is our first bus. We have been, if you notice, uh, you don't, except for
10:51that Pellegrino, we try to be as plastic-free as possible. Um, you know, I, I use a Yeti cup
10:59for my
11:00coffee, so I don't use the disposable, um, cups for my coffee. Uh, and I have a couple water bottles.
11:08This, so we've been, and props to John Butler and Jack Johnson for leading the way on that many,
11:14many years ago. And so we've been plastic water bottle-free on this bus for over 10 years.
11:22So what we have is a five-gallon jug of water. And we used to have the pumps, and we
11:28would just sit
11:29right here, but now this bus is moving forward. I'm really happy, uh, for Pioneer Coach for leading
11:35the way on this. This goes down to the bay where there is a five-gallon tank that's hooked up
11:43to
11:44this. So we have spring water that's coming out here because you can't drink the bus water, okay?
11:50Um, I mean, it's not gonna, you're not supposed to drink it. Don't drink the bus water.
11:56Drink the filter water. Not filter, bottle water. Spring water from a five-gallon bucket. Try to not
12:04use plastic water bottles, people. Move on, you know what I'm saying? It's nice to have your own
12:09water bottle. You know, you give your kids water bottles for school, you take a water bottle,
12:14you be a big boy, be a big girl, and help do your part to save the environment, all right?
12:20If not, you get the baguette, okay? So this is nice to get the baguette. So over here is a
12:27good drawer,
12:28and here is, um, let's see what we got in here. This is the late night munchie drawer. Holy
12:34shit. This is the problem. This is the problem. Whoever got this shit is trying to kill us and make
12:41me put on a lot of weight during tour. So this is a problem, uh, combined with marijuana, um, this
12:49drawer
12:49can be a real big problem for me on a late night after the show. Really have to be careful
12:55and try to
12:56discipline myself. During the day, I'm very healthy, and one thing I like to eat, um, is a lot of
13:02fish,
13:03and actually tonight, today, after we leave, I'm gonna make myself, um, a sardine salad with some red
13:10onion, lime juice, maybe a chop a little ginger, and put it over some arugula, and this has a lot
13:17of
13:17good omega-3s, and very good for you, and cheap. Got some beef jerky for a high-protein, low-fat,
13:26but, you know, healthy snack, and of course, the cookies, man. Gotta watch out, but who doesn't love
13:33those Tate's, extra thin and crispies? Woo, boy! Dangerous! Uh, one thing I like to do is juice a
13:42lemon every morning, or a lime, and gargle with it. I make a little lemon with the juicer. I put,
13:48um,
13:50I put a little pinch of salt, some black pepper, and a cinnamon is another thing that we use heavily.
13:57I'm gonna cinnamon in my coffee, guys, so I just have black coffee with cinnamon. I also do my health
14:03shot,
14:04and add a little cinnamon. So that, you still want to know, I can keep going. So in the freezer
14:09here,
14:09another thing on the rider is my morning starts with, um, a scoop of this green vibrance, which is
14:18powdered greens, probiotics, as well as a master blend of this Ohm, uh, adapt, adaptogens mushrooms.
14:27This has lion's mane, reishi, cordyceps, turkey tail, uh, trumpet, maitake, chaga, shiitake,
14:38and some things I can't really pronounce so well. So that, that, again, little cinnamon.
14:45I take my, after I do my lemon squeeze shot, I always take the, uh, well, I, you know, I
14:53wash the
14:54lemon peel with it. I take these, the juice lemons, I put them in there and I drop them in
14:59my water
15:00bottle so I have fresh cold lemon water. That's it, man. One of the great things about the bus and
15:07one thing I want you guys to know, if you're coming on the bus, you can only go number one,
15:13okay? And if you're a woman and you come on the bus, please put your paper in the trash. And
15:19if you're a
15:20man peeing on the bus, please use some paper and wipe off the seat, okay? If you dribble one, you
15:26scribble, wipe the shit off in a pibble or whatever it goes, okay? So this is, this bus is great.
15:32Well, you got to have the mirror, man, so that you can see, you know, get, get ready for the
15:36show,
15:37you know, make sure you're looking good before you go on stage. And, um, the bathroom's great. Um,
15:43again, don't poop on the bus. Um, you got to figure that out. If you need to have an emergency
15:50stop,
15:51you tell the driver, it happens. That's why it's so important. All you venue owners out there,
15:58if you're starting a venue, please, for the love of God, put a bathroom backstage so that your bands
16:05can use the bathroom, uh, backstage, because there's nothing worse than, you know, having to go,
16:09uh, this is TMI, but nothing worse than having to be an artist right before you go on stage at
16:14a
16:14sold out show at a little venue, having to go take a crap in the bathroom. And then you come
16:19out of the
16:19stall and people are like, Oh, that was fucking G lab. I just took a shit. Yeah. I'm a human.
16:26TMI. Uh, but it, it happens. So it's, it's really nice for venues to, to take care of the artists
16:31and
16:32have a good green room. So if you're starting a venue, think about that, throw it down, take care of
16:38your artists. Um, so yeah, there's a nice bathroom and you got the flush over here and you,
16:49just push that button and then it's good.
16:55Most of us don't have a toilet that nice in our house, right? But, um, and you know, we have,
17:00it's just like, here's this thing, you're on a winter tour in the upper midwest and heading to New
17:04England, just gotta keep your health. So you're touching a lot of people. That sounded weird.
17:10You're, you're having to contact with a lot of people. Uh, and then I go home and hang out with
17:16my wife and three little kids that are like, you know, walking germ, germ pools, not my wife,
17:20but the boys. So hand sanitizer, try to have it all around. Um, so that you're always
17:29constantly washing and sanitizing your hands. Okay. So that's up, up here we have, um,
17:36it's like the driver's supplies. Someone's got their toothbrush up there. Oh, there's air freshener,
17:41wipes. You know what I'm saying? All the things, man. Welcome on back. This is bunk alley. And, um,
17:52so one great thing about our unit is that we have a trio and you can see these bunks are
18:01generally set
18:02up for 12 bunks. So you have four rows and three bunks. Four times three is 12. And, um,
18:10so there's five of us. So we're really spoiled, um, because a lot of bands have 12 guys on the
18:17bus.
18:18We've always been a trio and continue to tour as a trio for the most part, which makes our bus
18:24life
18:25very nice. Um, everybody has what it's called a junk bunk and I won't, I don't even show you my
18:32home
18:32is junk bunk, but you can come look at my junk bunk. And, um, I'm a little, I'm messy. I'm
18:38a messy smurf,
18:39but, uh, this is where I can keep my stuff. I got my toiletries. I got a nice joint someone
18:47gave me from
18:47the other day. Got my Gavis gun if I have too many cookies. I got my, my little supplements.
18:55I got my ear, in-ear monitors from dark matter, which I never use because I'm old school until I
19:02get in trouble. Um, I got my clean clothes up here. Um, I just got my mouthwash, just got it
19:12today. So
19:14like to keep fresh breath, you know what I'm saying? Help mouth oral, oral health. Got my socks and
19:20underwear bag. Oh, what? Some more hand sanitizer. Uh, I have some shit that I've just, I noticed we
19:29have a peanut butter in the drawer already. And then there was two peanut butters backstage last
19:33night. So I took these, these costs like, you know, $10 or something. These will be in my family's,
19:40uh, cupboard for free. And that's that. I got saline packs. Uh, try to rinse out, you know,
19:48your nasal situation. Uh, I do a lot of arts and crafts with my home, homemade setless,
19:55as I can tell you. But here's one that I prep for Rochester next week on a clear one. And
20:01I have some
20:03canvases up here for my other setless. And, uh, so that's, that's my junk bunk. And then here's my
20:09little bunky boo, as I call it. And you got your charger up here, little lights you can read. I,
20:16I, I wear like, it's, I wear earplugs. I think you should have a sleeping suit, like, like a cocoon.
20:24But I wear like this neck brace when I sleep to keep everything because my arms like, uh, go numb.
20:32Like my neck compresses. So I, I wear this when I sleep. I wear earplugs. And I had this eye
20:39mask.
20:39I wear this too. Don't fuck around. It's time to go to sleep. Uh, this bunk is pretty cool. I
20:46got this
20:46little storage area up here. So whatever. I should have made my bed. No company was coming.
20:53But that's that. Then, um, come to the back lounge. So this, this kind of is, uh, my zone a
21:03little bit
21:04just because I got to do my arts and crafts. A big part of, um, it's been really awesome. A
21:09big
21:09part of our merchandise situation has been my homemade hand-drawn hats. And so I got these prepped.
21:19This, this morning I prepped all of these hats. So one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight,
21:25nine, 10, 11, 12. So 12, 24, 36. So prepped these 36 hats. And then the next step with these
21:32is to ink them.
21:33Uh, so I used to do about five of these a night and I've been doing this for, I don't
21:44know, man, like
21:48almost five years, I guess, or more. I don't know, man, maybe even longer, but, um,
21:55I'll finish this one later, but this is really cool, man. It's a great merchandise item.
22:00Um, um, um, I'm also a visual artist other than a musician. And, um, um, this is a great way
22:07for,
22:07for our supporters, our, our fans to get a piece of, because the, each one is this unique. A lot
22:13of
22:13them have lyrics from our songs, like that's peace, love, happiness. This is my new single,
22:21Weekends Are For Making Love. Ain't That Right from The Lemonade Record.
22:27Funky Cool Philly G Love. Baby's Got Sauce. I Like Whole Beverage. Stupid Love. Shouts of Slightly Stupid.
22:37Bring Me Your Love. Another song from my new record, Who Got The Weed. So, and then, you know,
22:43I'm a big Eagles fan. So, we're doing some Eagles hats today. Go Birds! As the Eagles get ready to
22:52kick off in about a half hour here. So, we're ready for that. And, um, yeah, so that's, that's a
22:58lot of
22:58fun. And then, um, so the other thing I do is, um, this is how it all kind of started.
23:05I do hand-drawn set lists.
23:07Um, so, these are ones that I've got ready for Cincinnati because after tonight's show,
23:13I go home for two days and I fly back the day of the show. So, um, just try to
23:19bang that out now so
23:20that I'm not stressed, um, when I fly back and don't have as much time. And then you can see
23:26up here,
23:26I got, I like to get ahead of it because of the fact that this has been really taking off
23:31in the last
23:31some years. I think it's quite a lot of work. So, I'm constantly doing this every day. I'm,
23:36I'm drawing on a lot of hats and every day I'm doing my set lists. Um, so this, these are
23:45prepped now
23:47in chronological order for the next coming shows. Boston River Private, Ann Arbor. I'm doing,
23:53these are small, so I'm doing two Ann Arbor, Kent, Ohio. So, these will get inked. Columbus, Ohio.
24:01And then these will get inked up and I'll put the song selection. So, this, again, this is like, um,
24:08you can go on Instagram and do hashtag GLoveSetList and you'll see over thousands, thousands of these
24:17posted. And every night, luckily, and thanks to all my fans out there, every night these set lists
24:26usually get purchased at Merchant Nights. And it's been really fun to see people have
24:31collected them over the years. And, um, and I like it. It's like a centering thing for me to do
24:38another creative thing. So, part of the cool thing about being a guitar player is you get,
24:44you have to have a lot of guitars. Part of the cool thing about being an artist is you got
24:48to have a
24:48lot of pens. So, you know, these, some of these are newer and some of these are older, but it's
24:54just
24:54wild, like so many paint pens, you know. Um, you know, when you're a kid, you'd be like,
24:59oh my God. I mean, I got bags and bags of, you know, magic markers and I used to be
25:05a graffiti writer.
25:06So, you know, if you're, if you're playing in a venue or you go backstage,
25:12you'd probably see a G-Lo tag back there and wherever you go. Cause I get around. So that's
25:19it. And then the last thing is just, um, our, our back closet. It's this nice, you know,
25:25can put our stage clothes back here. You know, I got a little snazzy little jacket.
25:32Got this nice suede one for the stage. And then Tom, the drummer has some of his stuff back there.
25:39Before I say goodbye, I'm going to put on my brand new hat and, um, thanks for coming by. Again,
25:45I'm G-Love from G-Lovin Special Sauce. We're always on the road, uh, all across the country and the
25:52world.
