00:00Hey I'm Nikki. And I'm Kate. And we're from Thick. And this is Large Marge. She's proud and in
00:17charge. We're on tour with Slaughterhouse right now on the Northeast. Going up to Canada. Yeah
00:25ending in New York which is exciting. Love a hometown show. Yeah this is like a week-long tour.
00:30Nineteenths I think in Pooza Fest in Montreal in the middle. Which would be really fun. We've never
00:35played Pooza before so. No. I'm excited. Yay. Yeah. Yay for festivals. So we usually drive in shifts.
00:43Three to four hour shifts. Right? Yeah. And what are the rules do we have? Our rules are we try to get
00:51Nikki not to drive with her knees while she's eating and driving. My favorite thing is to drive like this.
00:55You know eating something. It's not very safe. Don't tell her parents that. I learned it from my dad. Oh okay
01:01Matt it's your fault. Um and we like to have an awake driver at night or awake. Definitely an awake
01:09driver ideally. An awake co-pilot at night is important because you need someone to talk to
01:14otherwise it gets really lonely. And we all learn like who's a good co-pilot and who's not. Like I'm not
01:18good at night time co-piloting. She snores. I'm okay. Rosie's good at night time. Rosie's good.
01:23Jillian no. Jillian no. Elena refuses to co-pilot so far this tour in general. Elena just sits there
01:29the entire time with those glasses on. This is my spot. Yeah she's a backseat baby. Sometimes I
01:34wonder I'm like did we forget Elena? I've gotten scared twice this tour. I truly have. Oh yeah so
01:41that's it. Also driver gets to pick the tunes or the podcast. Tunes are podcasts. Lots of scary podcasts.
01:49No murder. No no true crime though. We don't do murders. No when it's too scary. When it's too
01:55scary we don't like the scary podcast. Um we learned a game from Together Pangea of song roulette which
02:05is fun to play where you play a song and then the next person has to cue up a song that's related
02:10in some way. Thematic, lyrics, producers, band members, whatever and then everyone has to guess
02:15how they're related. So we were doing that all day yesterday. That was fun. And what else? There's
02:19another game we haven't played yet but we do it sometimes where you have to do the opposite of
02:23the band name. Oh yeah. So you say a band name but you say it in the opposite way and they gotta guess
02:28the band. So um like I'll do it. Small, small mouth. Big. Big. Smash mouth? Big. Bright eyes? Big. Big teeth? Big.
02:40Big teeth? Big smile? No. Small mouth? You guys. Look at the opposite of the mouth. Eyes? Bright eyes? Big eyes? No. Big. Big girl.
02:47Big mouth? Small. Tiny gums? What? Big teeth? Dead teeth? Dead tooth? Dead tooth? No. It's like a, it's like a,
02:57a famous band that we all grew up with. Spice Girl. Okay so this is how we spend our time. Am I telling
03:05about the answers? No it doesn't. Fat lip. Oh wait, that's what you saw. Okay never mind. That's what
03:15cut it off. If I had the ox. You do scary podcast. I'll just do like Heart Starts Pounding. I listen
03:22to a lot or Two Girls, One Ghost has been my new thing. Uh or like we have like Spotify playlists or
03:29we'll get into like an album kick but like that's kind of random and on the mood. The new vinyl thing. Oh
03:33oh yeah if anyone buys the vinyl on tour that's a rule we have to listen to the entire album in the
03:37car that day. And I've been on a pop kick which is very funny. Lots of um every member of Blackpink
03:47plus some Olivia Rodrigo and Chapel Rhone. Yeah. And uh yeah it keeps you awake. It's a bop.
03:55All of it's a bop. I think I usually do. We did a lot of Otherworld yesterday. Yeah. Oh yeah that's
03:59a good one. We had a Whitney moment. I had a Whitney Houston moment. That is true. That was fun.
04:03I'm usually working on my laptop. I haven't inflicted my Beatles moments on you guys.
04:07I have a little. To the extent that I could. I listen to uh I like to listen to like astrology
04:13podcasts and um cult like documentary podcasts. Those are really fun. I like those. I need
04:22something that's like keeping me engaged while I'm driving rather than music. I like podcasts better.
04:27Yeah I like um uh National Parks After Dark and Dungeons and Daddies which are two totally different
04:34things. Um one's a spooky scary podcast and like about the parks and the other one's like
04:41some comedians playing Dungeons and Dragons. Why haven't they listened to Dungeons and Dragons?
04:45Because Nicole doesn't like it. No. Oh okay. Forget it. Never mind. That's not happening.
04:48It's been nerdy for her. It's okay because Elena doesn't drive anyway. Yeah Elena just sits there.
04:52I'm just working on it. What was that um My Dad Wrote a Porno. Oh that was funny too.
04:57What was that one? That's what it was called. My Dad Wrote a Porno. It was a podcast. It was hilarious.
05:01Yeah that was good too. Where these people read this kid's dad wrote a screenplay for a porno and then they just
05:08read it on the podcast and it was hilarious. But we should talk about what we mostly do in this
05:14van which is the women's wellness thing. I mean like we stole this from the hotel.
05:19But don't tell anyone. Nicole! We have our little pictures so our good luck charm for this tour
05:26and I mean the biggest thing we always do is make sure the key's on the land. This is the biggest
05:30thing for us. Kate has lost the keys in the van. No only one time. Like we had to unpack
05:37the van a couple times. One time. One time we had to unpack. We have these now. Also we all have
05:42giant tote bags and it's always floating around random bags so it's easiest to find if it's a bright
05:46color and large. So you can hear it. Like Marge. Large like Marge. Other than that yeah we just have
05:54boring coffee cups. Usually there's a bunch of water but we drank all the water yesterday. Rosie drank all of them.
05:59This is our middle of the van where we hide all of them. Fully equipped with beautiful land.
06:10Uh sometimes you know you'll catch us doing some riffs. Oh yeah. Oh it feels good. It feels so good.
06:19But that's enough of that. I'm Jillian and I play guitar. I'm Rosie. I play drums. I'm Elena. I'm the
06:28emotional support hype woman that comes along and I do merch. I have another band with some of them
06:34and that's I just hang. I'm the professional hanger. She's a good hanger. Non-musical band member
06:42officially. So usually I feel like the sleeping corner is this area. Usually there's like a big
06:48suitcase here so you can like kick your feet up on it. Like really just lounge back like this you
06:53know. It's pretty nice. Over here we usually have our station. We ate it all already but we usually
07:00have a food like bank over here where you know we just divvy it out like chips and dip and hummus and
07:08veggies and stuff like that. That lives here. This seat is definitely a mix of like sometimes there's
07:14some napping but it's mostly like the working and like kind of hanging with the front part.
07:18Yeah that is like the nap area. This is hyper vigilance because you can't really relax in this
07:24seat. I love this seat. She loves this seat. And I love this seat. And that's far removed. That's like a
07:28whole other country back there. I should not sit back there. I'd be too lonely. No and on long rides
07:34these are the therapists and this is the hot seat. Oh this is the hot seat. So if you're sitting in this
07:38seat we are going deep dive into all of your darkest and most complicated emotions and we
07:44will not let you off the hook until we have had some kind of emotional breakthrough. So yeah if
07:50we have other bands sometimes swap members on long rides just for fun between our bands and then
07:56they don't know it yet but they get put in the hot seat. Oh yeah. Like tell us about your childhood.
08:00We're like telling you about all your mommy and daddy issues right now. We're gonna discover them.
08:04We really like shadow work. We really like you know inner childhood trauma, tarot, internal family
08:12systems, family systems, diagnoses. I'm a therapist but these are all witches you know. This is the
08:20covenant over here. They're all witchy. I just kind of guide them with a little bit of a like tools over
08:25here. But you can always talk. I feel like sometimes this is the hot seat because usually this becomes
08:30the hot seat when Nicole's sitting over there and she'll just turn to you and be like so.
08:34That sounds interesting. Tell me more about that. How does that make you feel? Interesting. What does
08:41that remind you of? You're good at that. Kate's good at that. I'm like huh. There's a connection I
08:47already see and I'm waiting for you to get there. Okay we'll do it. Kate's like Kate you will have
08:52an analysis already in your mind and you like basically lead and I'm like I just like I'm like
08:55okay I'll wait. That's because you're a professional and I'm not so I don't have to be polite. Do you think that maybe
09:01it's because you're a little bitch? That's kind of what Kate says. I have never said those words.
09:08I probably have thought them though. I like thought them. No they're my favorite people in the world.
09:15But this I want to come in here though. This is actually the best part. You can stand up all of us.
09:20All of us. I want to stand. Oh yeah this is pretty nice. This is the standard. I can stand on the seat.
09:26Well almost. We'll have a dance party. Like literally. I'm six foot four in these and I can
09:30stand up straight. This is crazy. It's great. I don't know how this we we walked into this. Sometimes
09:36we host wrestling matches back here. We have like dance parties. Dice games. This is actually the
09:41private party after the show. We move all this stuff into the hotel room and then have a party
09:45in the van. Yeah. Back here. What else goes on in here? We got the tarot. We haven't done tarot yet
09:54in this tour. We need to. Elena's been busy working. Yeah. We play a lot of dice cards. We play a lot of dice.
10:02What else? Actually Jillian is we call her Jilly two checks because you don't she double checks
10:08everything and she'll she'll count all the gear to make sure we have it all. Yeah honestly that's
10:13two hard cases two softs. Yeah she's the Virgo so she's always counting everything. And I'm always
10:18the last one in the van. That's probably why I like the seat too because I'm in the in the venue being
10:22like all right let me just do one last round of checks. That's true. We could have all checked separately.
10:29I have to do it. It's like I think it's a Virgo OCD type problem. And I lose my phone about five times
10:34the van. Rosie always finds it. Yeah. Or tells me it's in your purse nipples. Yeah. She loses her
10:40phone in her purse six times a day. In the van. In the van. Another reason why we need a lanyard
10:44on the keys. See it's not just me. It's not just Kate. See it's not just me. Where are the keys? Where's my
10:53phone? Where's my wallet? Where's my passport? Oh that's another thing we do. I haven't checked that
11:00every time we leave. We're going to Canada on this tour so every time we change locations we go okay
11:07everyone check they have their passport. Because you never know. Things fall out bags. I'm anxious.
11:12I haven't checked. I usually check once or twice a day. I haven't checked today. And it's not it's in
11:15the hotel room. Oh no. It's there. I know it is. So the personal items like Kate brought a huge
11:22suitcase for all her big boots and everything. There's some of them yeah. That's amazing. They are big. And that
11:29goes right here where she rests her feet. I needed something with wheels so I didn't have to carry
11:33those around. I feel like we should get endorsed by Patagonia because there's a bunch of Patagonia
11:36Oh yeah we all have the same duffel. They go right here. And they pile up. We just carry big duffel
11:41bags and put on your back. Yeah. I have one of those in my wheelie suitcase actually. And then we have
11:46totes. Oh show them the tote bags of our clothing like our show. Oh yeah we make go bags. Yeah. Go bags are
11:52great. So you put your show clothes for the day and then what you're going to wear that night in the hotel.
11:56So then you don't have to go into your giant suitcase which we usually have. Jeans, jacket,
12:01extra makeup, straightening iron. We all have little totes. Which one is yours? Oh this one? I just
12:06brought my whole. Oh excuse me Julian. Go bags. See we all have like little go bags with our outfits
12:12for the night and makeup and whatever. PJs, toiletries. So we don't have to bring all the bad stuff but
12:18that's like something we learned to make touring easier. Yeah. Yeah. Make all of your packing modular. Yep.
12:24And this is where the real heavy lifting comes in right back here. Oh yeah that's true.
12:30I'm building muscles finally again. After three days. Oh yeah our friend Richard taught us this.
12:39We didn't figure it out on the first floor. Open it full. Yeah we got mansplained about our van that we
12:44have been living in for a week. And it was helpful. It was a helpful mansplain. It was. He's allowed.
12:49Because we love it. Yeah. So here it is. Amps. Guitar cab, bass cab, extra guitar amp, guitar head.
12:59My bass head is somewhere in there because it's only about this big. And all the drum stuff.
13:04Drums, sax. Again this is not, this is the biggest van we've ever had. So this is again really nice.
13:10Usually we're like bent over like this. Yeah when you have to put everything in a lower transit
13:15it. Your back ends are hurting. Yeah. Trying to load this way. Yep. So this is actually really nice.
13:22Hertz rental. Hertz rental car. Hertz rental van. So the hardware is underneath and then we've got
13:29pick drum and then I think there's some right here. The toms are in this seat. Staff. And the snares over there.
13:36But yeah this isn't, usually we have everything Tetris to like the perfection. But we have so much space we
13:42don't even. Yeah we got lucky. Like they just gave us a massive tall giant. Oh man I love a good pack.
13:49A good van pack is a beautiful thing. But we'll show you something actually once he's caught. We'll show him
13:54punch our window. Oh yeah. First show. First show. This is actually the first
13:58thing that's ever happened to us. Violence to Large Marge. Yeah. Someone was violence
14:04floating. It's an agro energy right here. I don't know who did that. Chicago. Oh no it was Philadelphia.
14:13Philadelphia. People in Philly are crazy. Luckily we can still talk but Philly they're wild. I've never
14:20been to Philly and not seen someone get punched but this time our van got punched so I think that counts.
14:24Yeah it does. Okay well welcome to our van. Thank you for touring and doing our little mini cribs with us.
14:32We are on tour right now. We are recording at the end of the summer. Hopefully putting out a new album
14:37next year. Yep. And we're just excited. We're testing out all the new material on the road so if you catch
14:43us between now and then you get to be our guinea pigs. Yep. A bunch of new songs. Yeah. And you can find our
14:49tour dates and all the other information at thick.band. Nice and easy. Or follow us at thickinbrooklyn
14:56on TikTok. Instagram. Twitter. No no Twitter. We don't do Twitter. Threads. No we don't do it either.
15:06She's saying all the bad ones. Ignore half of that. No just thickinbrooklyn on Instagram. We don't
15:11support you like us. And Tumblr and Myspace. And Tumblr and Myspace. Yeah that I would do. Ask Jeeves about it.
15:19I don't know.
15:20I don't know.
