West Bengal is witnessing unprecedented security arrangements ahead of the first phase of elections on Thursday. The Election Commission has deployed over 2.4 lakh Central Armed Police Forces personnel, a significant increase compared to the 2021 elections.

00:47The Election Commission has deployed 2.4 lakh Central Armed Police Forces personally to the state,
00:53which is more than three times what was deployed in 2021.
00:582,407 companies of Central Forces are in Bengal for the two phases on April 23rd and April 29th,
01:05as against 7.25 used in the previous eight-phase polls.

01:28The EC has banned motorcycle rallies in election areas.
01:32No motorbikes are allowed from 6pm to 6am.
01:35No pill and riding is allowed from 6am to 6pm.
01:38The EC has clarified that gig workers, family voters and emergency cases are exempted from the restrictions on motorcycles.
01:45Non-voters are barred from residential complexes where booths are located.
01:48No outsiders can stay in hotels in coastal towns such as Diga.
01:52The excise department has shut liquor shops for four days in polling areas.
01:58In the first phase, over 3.6 crore people are eligible to vote.
02:03Over a thousand candidates are contesting from 152 seats across 16 districts.
02:08Now it remains to be seen as we are barely hours away from the first phase polling in West Bengal.
