A Fallout game set in New Orleans? It was once discussed at Obsidian Entertainment—and Chris Avellone still believes it has huge potential.

From swamps and flooded cities to a completely new atmosphere, this could be one of the most unique directions for Fallout 5.

But will Bethesda Game Studios actually go for it?

00:00Fallout 5 rumored setting New Orleans was originally discussed at New Vegas Studio Obsidian,
00:05and veteran dev still believes there's a lot of potential there.
00:08No there isn't, and let me tell you why.
00:10Our boy Chris Avellone is a bit nostalgic in this situation, and he's not taking into
00:14account that these people who worked at Fallout New Vegas back in the day are long gone.
00:19And if you see what Obsidian today is making, what kind of games that is, and by that I
00:25mean a WoW and the Outer Worlds 2, there's no way in hell they have the capacity to make
00:31something awesome like they did back in the day.
00:34Sure, swamps, flooded cities, voodoo inspired factions, it's an amazing vibe, and it might
00:40work really well in the Fallout setting.
00:42However, I would say do not trust to hope, it has forsaken Obsidian in its current form.
