Could a Fallout: New Vegas remaster ever happen? According to original developer Chris Avellone, it's unlikely. He alleges that Bethesda lacks the engineering knowhow and was never given the complete source code by Obsidian.

00:00In assertion I can't help but find, well, a little iffy, Chris Avalon, a writer on New
00:06Vegas, says Bethesda couldn't remaster the game even if it wanted to.
00:10I don't think Bethesda has the engineering know-how to make a remaster of New Vegas at
00:15all, said Avalon in a recent interview with YouTuber TK's Mantis.
00:19Why?
00:20Because Avalon claims Obsidian never handed over the source code for reasons unknown to
00:25him.
00:26Which you can't help but squint at, given Bethesda and Virtuous have ably demonstrated
00:30they can remaster games on exactly this engine with Oblivion Remastered.
00:35Bethesda may have aspects of the code, said Avalon, but everyone I talked to after that
00:39time period said they had no idea how to reassemble it.
00:43Call me naive, but given Oblivion Remastered made approximately a gigajillion dollars,
00:49I'm willing to bet Bethesda will find a way to gussy up New Vegas source code or no.
