00:01It is iconic. It is, you know, the second most valuable guitar in the world at auction, by all accounts,
00:08at the moment.
00:09It is Kurt Cobain's 1966 Mustang that he uses, or used, in the music video for Smiles Like Teen Spirit.
00:17It was used to record much of Nevermind and also used in utero.
00:22It was, by all accounts, one of his prized possessions.
00:26He didn't smash it to smithereens, although he did get a bit cross with it sometimes.
00:30But it is, it's unusual because he really couldn't find many left-handed guitars that were actually vintage.
00:39And so this was something that he really treasured.
00:42It was bought by Jim Merce at auction for record $4.7 million, just quite recently, in 2022, I think
00:52it was.
00:53And, yeah, it's, for somebody like me, who grew up in the 90s, this is the sort of generational anthem
00:58that every single garage band covered, including the one at my school.
01:03And so we all, this is my generation's blackstrap, really, if you think about it.
01:09Absolutely.
01:09And a very special thing to have.
