00:08about that very special iconic guitar being a 1955 Gibson Les Paul Custom
00:15which has been formerly owned by the late great Paul Kossoff from the band
00:20back then called Black Cat Bones and later by the only great Eric Clapton
00:26when he was playing with Cream in the early 1967 and this guitar has began its
00:34life in New York. It was originally shipped in New York and that's the
00:38earliest tracking we have of it. Paul Kossoff's father was a comedian and he was
00:45traveling back and forth between the UK and the US and Paul at the time was
00:50playing the 15 years old Paul Kossoff was playing a 1956 Gibson Les Paul Jr. in TV
00:55Yellow Finish and one day his father brought back this magnificent Gibson Les Paul
01:02Custom being Paul's very first serious guitar that he recorded the Black Cat Bones
01:08with and later on a guy named Eric Clapton which has been one of Paul's guitar
01:14heroes traded with Paul this guitar and they were trading many guitars back then
01:19those two and you can see pictures of Clapton playing this guitar in the Paul
01:24Kossoff official gear book and Clapton playing this guitar the marquee and on
01:30tour with Cream on stage and back then Clapton at some point used the white pick guard on that
01:36guitar and the original was put back on later iconic guitar iconic history
