00:00Excuse us for thinking out loud and questioning what you were up to.
00:04I don't mind Bruce asking the question.
00:08And I like Craig sticking to his guns and being firm on what he believes in.
00:15And it worked, but when it doesn't work, guess what's going to happen?
00:18We're going to come back to this and we're going to ask the question again.
00:20Context is important, though.
00:22This was before Saturday's game.
00:24Before the game, right.
00:24This was after Friday when Moises Ballesteros had homered and was two for two.
00:28And then here we are Saturday going into this game and Bruce asked the question.
00:34Good answer, but it all goes back to the argument about winning versus development.
00:39The Cubs are in the spot where winning does trump everything else.
00:45So the manager in that context, you trust to win games with moves like that.
00:51But being asked that before the game and then having that answer.
00:55And then Carson Kelly coming in and doing the same thing the day after Matt Shaw pinch hit for Moises
01:02Ballesteros.
01:03When Carson Kelly hit the home run, I'm surprised that Craig Council didn't look up to the press box or
01:07wherever Bruce was sitting and ask him like this.
01:10Like, okay now, training wheels?
01:13So this was a good weekend for Craig Council.
01:16He pushed all the right buttons, whether it was Friday with Shaw, who came through, or Saturday with Carson Kelly
01:24that made him look like a genius, or yesterday when Scott Kingery running for Ian Happ scored when Michael Conforto,
01:33the pinch hitter, came in, got the double.
01:36Pushed all the right buttons, that's what happens when you win five in a row, or are you winning five
01:42in a row because you're pushing all the right buttons?
01:44It's a great conundrum, and it's indicative of the way the Cubs are just playing really well right now, and
01:50their manager is on a roll.
