Storm chaser Aaron Jayjack watches a possible rain-wrapped tornado in the Midwest as he broadcasts live on AccuWeather on the evening of April 17.
Transcript
00:00It potentially is a tornado in progress right now, wrapped in the rain.
00:03So that area I was watching when I stopped a little bit ago,
00:06I was starting to rapidly rotate that funnel cloud.
00:09I got wrapped in the rain again.
00:10You can see there.
00:11We just got visibility now.
00:13Big rain shaft there.
00:14Potentially a tornado wrapped in that rain right now.
00:18You can hear the tornado sirens going off right here in this little town I'm about to come through.
00:23I'm not sure what this little town is.
00:25But we are just southwest of Roscoe.
00:27So still a dangerous storm.
00:29You can see if there is a tornado right now, it's wrapped in that rain.
00:32Big rain foot gusting out.
00:35Potentially a tornado right in there right now.
00:38Back to you.
00:40Rapidly.
00:41Those rain curtains are wrapping around pretty rapidly, guys.
00:43You can see generally when I see rain curtains like this,
00:45they're kind of flaring out and wrapping around at the same time.
00:48That tells me there's a strong circulation in the center of that rain cloud.
00:52Potentially that rain is swinging around and it's kind of getting thrown out from centrifugal force.
00:56So likely I would potentially have a tornado in there.
00:58That looks like a, you know, similar to what a tornado debris cloud looks like when the dust is flying
01:04out from the tornado.
01:05So a good chance we have that rain wrapped tornado in there.
01:08But again, like I mentioned, I can't confirm that 100 percent.
01:11But it's definitely if you're in the path of the storm, this is a very, very dangerous storm.
01:15You can't see it coming.
01:16So definitely take heed and get in your safe spot.
01:19Back to you, Anna.
