00:01Plans to build 73 homes on farmland next to a nature reserve in Wakefield have been
00:06given the go-ahead. Wakefield Council approved the proposals for the two-hectare former Greenbelt
00:12site off Lingwell Gate Lane in Lofthouse. Plans submitted by Avant Homes include a range of
00:18properties including 22 affordable homes. The land was allocated for housing as part of a new
00:24local plan in 2024. The site is opposite the junction 41 industrial estate and next to
00:31Virginia Close and Virginia Court housing developments. Part of the site was assessed
00:36as being at high risk from surface water flooding but the developer will raise ground levels to address this.
