00:01Wakefield Council has approved plans to convert part of a former village furniture shop into
00:07apartments in Middlestown. The proposals allow eight flats on the first floor of the Middlestown
00:13Furnishings building on New Road to be constructed after the business closed when its owners
00:18retired. The ground floor is set to stay in commercial use. The scheme includes changes
00:24to the roof to create an external terrace and new windows, plus access via the rear car park.
00:30Two nearby residents objected, citing privacy concerns. Council officers say any extra noise
00:37from the terrace is not expected to significantly harm neighbours, and nearby listed buildings would
00:42also not be affected.
