Transcript
00:00The instability is building here in Des Moines, Iowa and back to the southwest.
00:04Latest forecast models show that severe storm is to the north of the warm frontal zone
00:09and it might be more of a windbag up there, that early target.
00:13Now we're going to be dropping down into southwestern Iowa
00:16where it looks like another round of supercell storms could develop by about 3 to 4 p.m.
00:20You can see the signs of spring out here.
00:22The beautiful red buds are blossoming.
00:25A lot of spring blossoms on the trees, those beautiful green buds that are coming out.
00:30Definitely a sign of spring and with that comes severe weather,
00:33especially this year with that storm track setting up from the southern plains
00:36up to the lower Great Lakes region.
00:38It looks like the warm sector is going to be in the same area that it's been the last couple
00:42of days
00:42with that severe weather stretching from Oklahoma and northwest Texas
00:47all the way up through Iowa, portions of Illinois, and even portions of Ohio and Pennsylvania
00:52could get severe weather today.
00:54The tornado threat appears to be a little bit lower than the last couple of days,
00:58but still there is a threat of a potential strong tornado or two.
01:02Any of those that are able to move into that low-level jet will have the potential of producing tornadoes,
01:07any of those supercell storms, but it looks like damaging wind and hail is largely going to be the main
01:12threat today.
01:12Very important to stay tuned to those severe weather watches and warnings from Oklahoma up to Iowa,
01:17even Ohio and northwestern Pennsylvania.
01:20That includes Oklahoma City up toward Kansas City up to Des Moines, Iowa as well.
01:25It could be some volatile weather this afternoon through the evening.
