00:00One representative of the Concerned Muslims of Trinidad and Tobago is raising strong objections to the government's latest legal action
00:08targeting groups including Hamas and Hezbollah.
00:12PRO of Concerned Muslims, Imtiaz Mohammed, claims the Attorney General's application for declaratory orders are part of a broader effort
00:21to stigmatize Muslims, both locally and internationally.
00:25I can only conclude our TNT government is partnering with the United States of America and Israel to stigmatize Muslims
00:37locally and internationally by taking such action that displayed an overwhelming amount of Islamophobia behavior by the Prime Minister and
00:48her government.
00:49The government of Trinidad and Tobago has formally listed Hezbollah, Hamas and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps as terrorist organizations
00:58triggering an immediate freeze on any assets locally connected to these groups.
01:03I say to our government, including the U.S. and Israel, we will not be afraid to speak out against
01:11the injustices against mankind and showing our support for people who are defending the oppressed.
01:20Mohammed also raised concerns about the timing of the move suggesting it may be linked to domestic pressures.
01:26Why taking such actions now is so important to our government?
01:32Is this being used to deflect from the failure of the SOE or the inability to reduce crime significantly?
01:42And also the failure to find solutions to TNT issues in CARICOM?
01:50He went on to criticize the positions of the United States and Israel, describing their actions as unjust.
01:56And he called on the Trinidad and Tobago government to adopt what he sees as a more balanced approach.
02:03At the same time, he questioned whether similar legal scrutiny would be applied to international leaders accused of war crimes.
02:11A warrant has been issued by the ICC for Israel PM Netanyahu.
02:17I would like to ask our PM, would she and her government have him arrested if he ever set foot
02:26in Trinidad and Tobago?
02:27He is worse than a terrorist. He is a war criminal.
02:31Up to news time, there has been no official response from the office of the Prime Minister or the Attainee
02:36General.
