Commissioner of Police Allister Guevarro expresses hope that a partnership with the Spiritual Baptist Council will lead to a reduction in criminal activities.
Plans include the hosting of prayer meetings and marches for unity, peace and a no-tolerance stance towards criminality.
This was signalled as Spiritual Baptists celebrated a milestone of their seventy-fifth anniversary.

00:12A trial spiritual Baptists in TNT have overcome through the repealing of the
00:17Shouters Prohibition Ordinance of 1917. With singing,
00:26dancing, the ringing of bells,
00:30beating of drums, and the lighting of candles, they worship their God freely which they've been
00:35allowed to do for the past 75 years to date. Their week of activities and celebration coming to a
00:42crescendo in Kuva, the administrative complex packed the capacity under the theme, Let Freedom Reign.
00:49It reminds us that freedom is not given lightly and once attained it must be
01:00cherished, protected, and live out with focus.
01:09The spiritual Baptist community acknowledging the resilience of their ancestors who despite
01:14persecution courageously championed the fight of freedom which was won. Now at their diamond jubilee,
01:22they are being called upon by ecclesiastical head of the spiritual Baptist faith in TNT, Patriarch Wayne
01:27Jones to focus on their future by the renewing of their minds and to remain steadfast.
01:33It calls us to have unity, discipline in our spiritual war, responsibility in our personal life.
01:45It calls us to rise above division, to strengthen our churches, and to serve as a beacon of war in
01:56a troubled world.
01:57To our elders, the next generation must not only inherit our faith but understand it.
02:07Among the attendees, Commissioner of Police Alistair Guevara, who notes that a police force was once
02:12part of the oppression of spiritual Baptists, part of the oppression of spiritual Baptists.
02:15Today we stand in a different place.
02:22We stand as partners. We stand as protectors of constitutional rights and we stand committed
02:29to ensuring that no community in this country will ever again face the discrimination under the law
02:36law, for their belief or for their heritage. A partnership which has led to the spiritual
02:42Baptists and the TTPS agreeing to the creation of a joint working council on crime reduction in the
02:49country. Because when you, the spiritual Baptists on the corner praying, they're selling no drugs in them.
02:55To the spiritual Baptist community today, I say your endurance strengthens our democracy.
03:04Your culture enriches our nation and your journey from prohibition to liberation challenges all of us in
03:16public service to lead with humility, fairness and wisdom.
03:20Commissioner Guevara is again calling for all stakeholders to come on board towards crime prevention.
