00:07Welcome to MojoPlays, and today we're revisiting the past to uncover the hardest items to get
00:13in classic Zelda games. To clarify, by classic, we mean entries before the open-world behemoths,
00:20Breath of the Wild, and Tears of the Kingdom. However, we also aren't including Echoes of
00:25Wisdom. Although it's top-down like many older entries, Zelda's mechanics make it very different
00:30from the classic style. Before we dive in, we publish new content all week long,
00:38so be sure to subscribe and ring the bell to get notified about our latest videos.
00:43Fierce Deity's Mask, The Legend of Zelda Majora's Mask. Link can collect 24 wearable masks in Majora's
00:51Mask, and naturally they all vary in their levels of difficulty in getting them. Some are through
00:57the story and some are easily stumbled on, others can only be found under very specific circumstances,
01:03or at the end of long side quests with a multitude of steps. For putting in the effort of obtaining
01:10all of them, Link can then take on the four mini-dungeons at the end of the game and earn
01:14the Fierce Deity's Mask before the final boss. While it's something many fans of the game choose
01:20to go for on replays, it's understandably a lot of work to put in on a first attempt.
01:33Magical Sword, The Legend of Zelda Another item fans typically go for on a replay of the
01:39original game, the Magical Sword was still hard to get back in the day, or on a first playthrough
01:44regardless because it's obviously a pretty difficult game. Unless you read about some tips
01:49in a magazine or heard about it from some other kid through the tried and true playground method,
01:54you weren't likely to stumble upon it. Link finds an old man under a specific headstone in a graveyard
02:00that spans several screens, who gives him the sword. An early way to get it would be going through
02:05the Lost Woods, the correct path order of which, naturally, is a mystery. Plus, you have to have
02:1012 heart containers before you can pick it up anyway.
02:13Great Fairy's Tears, The Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess
02:25Combat challenge dungeons have appeared in many Zelda games, though the Cave of Ordeals in
02:30Twilight Princess is one of the more challenging ones. It can be found in the Gerudo Mesa, but can
02:35only be fully completed with several items found in later areas. There are 50 floors of increasingly
02:41stronger as well as annoying groups of enemies. Things start off easy, but some of the later floors
02:47towards the end are genuine tests of your abilities. While there are ways to heal along the way,
02:52potions are a necessity. At the end, Link is awarded some Great Fairy's Tears, which can temporarily
02:57boost his damage and completely refill his health. In the HD remake, Nintendo gave us an additional
03:03challenge in the Cave of Shadows. Although it's shorter at 40 floors, you can only play as Wolf Link.
03:09Completing this gets you a new item, the Colossal Wallet.
03:18Master Sword, The Legend of Zelda Oracle of Ages and Oracle of Seasons
03:23The Master Sword is often a required thing to get, but the Oracle games are different.
03:28It's completely optional, but you need both games to get it. This was a bigger deal originally,
03:34less so in the digital age. Still, it takes a lot of effort. You first need the Noble Sword,
03:39earned at the end of a 12-step long trading quest in either seasons or ages. You also need a
03:45linked
03:45save, meaning you have to beat one of the two games as well, so that you can learn secrets to
03:50unlock
03:50items in the other game. A different NPC in each game gives Link the secret to unlock the Master Sword,
03:56but he'll have to have the Noble Sword for it to work. The final empty bottle, The Legend of Zelda,
04:02Ocarina of Time. Empty bottles were great resources to have in older Zelda games, but there always tended
04:09to be one that was surprisingly hard to get. In Ocarina of Time, Adult Link can find 10 big
04:15Poes hidden across Hyrule Field while riding on Epona. If he manages to shoot them before they vanish,
04:21he can collect their soul and take it to the Poe Collector. Doing this 10 times earns you the final
04:26bottle. What makes most players skip this one, other than a fourth empty bottle being unnecessary,
04:32is honestly a lack of patience. The big Poes appear and move really quickly and disappear after
04:38following a set path, most of these being very short. And every time you miss one, you have to
04:44reset and try again.
04:53Koho Lint Sword, The Legend of Zelda, Link's Awakening. The final secret sword we'll talk about
04:59today, the Koho Lint Sword of Link's Awakening is a reward for one of the franchise's collectible
05:03quests. This time, secret seashells, of which there are 26 scattered around the island. And many of
05:10them require different items to reach. Link only needs 20 to get the sword, though that's still most of
05:16them. In the 2019 remake, you get a sensor that helps you search for the shells, but Nintendo also
05:22increased the amount, having Link earned the sword after finding 40 out of a total of 50. It doubles your
05:28attack power, so it's worth it, but that's obviously a lot of seashell hunting. Mirror Shield, The Legend
05:35of Zelda, The Minish Cap. By the time you get the Mirror Shield and Minish Cap, you might not have
05:40much
05:40use for it, since it can only be obtained after you've beaten the game. Regardless, the actual steps
05:46to get it make it pretty hard, too. You start by fusing kinstones with one of the farmers in Eastern
05:52Hills, which causes a Goron to start digging into a cave by Lan Lan Ranch. You then have to fuse
05:58kinstones with five secret walls, all hidden inside of other caves, each of which gets another Goron to
06:05help the first. This gets you the final empty bottle, another one of the series' trickier ones.
06:11But it also lets you fuse kinstones with one of the Gorons, which finally causes Big Goron to appear
06:16in Veil Falls. Give him your shield, and wait about 20 minutes, and he'll turn it into your prize.
06:30Swordsman Scrolls, The Legend of Zelda Spirit Tracks.
06:39Swordsman Scrolls, The Legend of Zelda Spirit Tracks
06:39There are two Swordsman Scrolls in Spirit Tracks, and both require a lot of work to unlock. One is
06:45given to Link by Nico for filling out his stamp book, and lets him use the Great Spin Attack. There
06:50are
06:5020 stamp stations across the game in villages and dungeons, and some are definitely harder to find
06:56than others. The other scroll, which lets you shoot sword beams, is a lot more annoying to get,
07:01though. This one is given to Link for finding and catching all 50 rabbits, and sending them to
07:07rabbit land rescue. Not only is 50 a pretty big number, but a lot of these can only be found
07:12on
07:12hidden paths in the overworld, which are unlocked after doing other quests.
07:24Tycoon Wallet, The Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword
07:27Before the modern entries let Link carry an exorbitant amount of money, the largest wallets
07:32were usually some of the hardest items to unlock in classic Zelda games. The Tycoon Wallet from Skyward
07:38Sword allows you to carry up to 9,000 rupees, and 9,900 with extra wallets. But to get it,
07:45you have to help Batro, a monster secretly living in Skyloft with dreams of becoming a human.
07:50To fulfill his dream, Link helps a variety of NPCs through quests that appear at different points
07:56as you progress through the story, earning gratitude crystals along the way. Of course,
08:01things are a mixed bag when it comes to individual quest difficulty, but Batro still needs 80 crystals
08:07before he transforms and gives you the wallet.

08:56The Bomber's Ring, The Legend of Zelda, Oracle of Ages.
09:06The Oracle games are infamous for their magical rings. There are a ton of these to collect across
09:12both entries, all with different effects, and some of them are absurdly challenging to earn.
09:18The Bomber's Ring in Oracle of Ages allows Link to place two bombs at once, and has scarred more
09:23players than most. You can only get this in a Goron dancing minigame, specifically the harder version
09:29found in the past. You have to earn a perfect score on Platinum difficulty, which, as anyone who has
09:35tried this can attest to, is a nightmare. Multiple drawn-out sequences of move memorization, and if
09:42your button timing isn't absolutely flawless, you can kiss that perfect goodbye. As irritating as this
09:47whole thing is, you won't even know if you've gotten the Bomber's Ring until you get it appraised,
09:53and there's a chance it's some other ring entirely.
