00:04Welcome to MojoPlays, and today we're back for another round of the hardest items to get
00:10across the Legend of Zelda series. However, as always, we aren't including any pieces of heart.
00:24Now, before we dive in, we publish new content all week long, so be sure to subscribe and
00:30ring the bell to get notified about our latest videos.
00:34Gilded Sword, The Legend of Zelda, Majora's Mask
00:42You can earn the Gilded Sword in Majora's Mask after beating Snowhead Temple, the game's
00:47second dungeon. More than likely, you'll have to re-beat the boss on another loop because
00:52the sword takes quite a bit of time. You need the second dungeon beaten so that you can
00:57A upgrade to the Razor Sword at the Mountain Smithy, and B partake in the Goron Races. Winning
01:04in the latter earns you gold dust, the next step in claiming the Gilded Sword, but it
01:08can be pretty challenging. The track features a twisty layout, several annoying obstacles,
01:14and the other Gorons race like their lives are on the line. Plus, it takes a day each
01:19for both swords to be made, and the clock, as always, is ticking.
01:24Fierce Deity Armor, The Legend of Zelda, Triforce Heroes
01:29We'll cover a few combat-based dungeons across the series. First up, the Den of Trials from
01:34Triforce Heroes, a free DLC challenge and the hardest one in the game. It gives you 40 levels
01:41of fights, swapping between a variety of items. While there are certainly some combat challenges
01:46in the series that are longer than this one, it's still a commitment, and it ends with a
01:51fight against a trio of Dark Lynx, who understandably put up a fairly decent fight. Your reward for
01:57making it through is an armor set that makes Link resemble the Fierce Deity from Majora's
02:01Mask, and lets him shoot beams from his sword while at full health or with a spin attack.
02:07The Master Sword, The Legend of Zelda, Oracle of Ages, and Oracle of Seasons
02:12Usually, obtaining the Master Sword in a Zelda game is simply a matter of making it far enough
02:17into the story. Not so in the Oracle games. Here we have one of the many trading quests
02:24found across the series, but with one big giant asterisk on the end. First, in either game,
02:30you must complete a 12-step long trading sequence, tracking down various NPCs across the map,
02:36which will get you the Noble Sword. To get the more powerful and iconic Master Sword,
02:42you must also have a linked save, meaning you must have already beaten one of the games.
02:47You must then take a password from an NPC in the beaten game, give it to another NPC in the
02:5352nd game, and that will get you your reward.
02:56Great Fairy's Tears, The Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess
03:07You can get two bottles of Great Fairy's Tears in Twilight Princess, though we're obviously
03:13referring to the harder of the two, earned at the end of the Cave of Ordeals. It's another one of
03:19the
03:19franchise's combat dungeons, this time coming in 50 floors. You wind up needing all dungeon items to
03:25make it through, which is a mean trick, considering the Cave of Ordeals is introduced much earlier than
03:31some of them. While, like other combat dungeons, there are rest floors, it's still a lot of fighting
03:36that most players will require a few healing resources to make it through. As to be expected,
03:42those last few floors in particular can be deadly if you aren't careful. Along the way,
03:47fairies are added to the springs in Hyrule, but your final reward is the Great Fairy's Tears,
03:52which completely refills Link's health and temporarily boosts his strength.
04:02Medals of Honor, The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild, and Tears of the Kingdom
04:07If you play Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom long enough, you'll grow to eventually
04:13demolish any monster that comes your way. Still, that takes time, as does building up strong weapons,
04:20armor, and resources. Once you get to that level, there will still be hordes of mini-bosses left in
04:27the world, and you must find and defeat each and every one of them to earn a Medal of Honor.
04:32All henoxes, stone taluses, and moldugas in the first, with the sequel adding gleox, flux constructs,
04:41and froxes, which must sound like total nonsense to anyone unfamiliar with Zelda.
04:46All this to say, you do a lot of monster slaying for some medals that don't do anything.
04:51Frog Lure, The Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess
04:54Ask any Zelda fan what the most annoying minigame in Zelda is, and there's a good chance you'll find
05:01a lot of people were scarred by Roll Goal in Twilight Princess. Essentially, you roll a small
05:07ball down a narrow path, with the layouts growing increasingly trickier across the eight levels.
05:12This was particularly challenging in the Wii version given the Wiimote's motion controls,
05:17and prior to the advent of Wii Motion Plus, you can imagine how this could be irritating.
05:23Regardless of version, the game is designed to be a bit nerve-wracking. One slight twitch on the
05:28tiny path, and the ball would tip over the side, causing you a loss. For eight levels of suffering,
05:34you got the Frog Lure, capable of catching the rare Hylian Loach, if you care for that sort of thing.
05:51Coho Lent Sword, The Legend of Zelda Link's Awakening
05:55In the original version of Link's Awakening, you can find a total of 26 secret seashells hidden
06:01across Coho Lent Island, most requiring different items to reach. Once you find 20, Link is awarded
06:08a special sword that's much stronger than the one he started with. However, getting the Coho Lent
06:13Sword in the 2019 remake is a bit harder in the number you have to get. Link must earn 40
06:19out of
06:19a total of 50. While that does mean they appear more frequently, and you can get a censor item that
06:25makes hunting for them easier, 40 of anything is still a lot to track down. Colton's Fabric,
06:32The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom
06:40Some of the hardest items to earn in Tears of the Kingdom are the character custom paraglider
06:45fabrics, earned through lengthy side quests. Shout out to Addison and his ridiculous 81 signs,
06:52which I didn't complete until the Switch 2 version gave me a map to find the rest of them.
06:57But that was just because I couldn't find them. In terms of actual commitment and difficulty,
07:02the winner clearly goes to Colton. To earn his fabric and fulfill his life's wish,
07:08you must hunt down and collect the gems of 147 bubble frogs in every cave of Hyrule,
07:14some of which are either very well hidden, very well guarded, or both. Fabric looks nice though.
07:21Karlov Metal, The Legend of Zelda The Minish Cap
07:24Like we've said multiple times in the past, the figurine quest of the Minish Cap is terrible. As if the
07:32rigged gacha system wasn't bad enough, unloading pocketfuls of mysterious shells on the chance you get
07:38something new, it takes reaching the absurd number of 130 figurines before you gain access to the music
07:45house. And a piece of heart. But we're not counting those, and there's one extra sour step in the process.
07:52Six additional figurines become available to earn after you've beaten the game. Only with all 136 will
08:00you get a medal in the form of Karlov's stupid face. Which, if you've learned anything from Breath
08:07of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, you know does absolutely nothing.
08:19Upgraded Master Sword
08:21The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild
08:23Breath of the Wild is another game where the Master Sword isn't hard to earn. But the fully
08:29upgraded version? That's another story. Through DLC, players came face to face with the Trial of the Sword,
08:36a series of fights making up what might be the hardest combat challenge of the series. It came
08:41in three sets, beginning, middle, and final, which of course ramped up the challenge as you played.
08:48But it was more than difficulty scaling baddies. At the start of each set, you lost access to
08:55everything except your Sheikah Slate. No champion abilities, no weapons, no armor, no resources.
09:01Everything you would need, you'd have to earn as you go. And it wasn't as if everything was of the
09:08highest quality. Each set of trials slightly powered up Link's Master Sword, and the final trials,
09:14totaling 23 floors, was a pretty tall order.
09:18The fourth bottle. The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time
09:27Ocarina of Time features four empty bottles to let Link carry around potions and other useful
09:32things. While the first three are easy to get, the fourth certainly isn't. There are 10 big Poes
09:39hidden around Hyrule Field. As soon as one appears, you'll have to give chase on Epona and shoot the
09:45ghost down before it vanishes. These can be a pretty big pain considering the Poes flee on set
09:59paths and can disappear extremely quickly. By killing them all, collecting their souls,
10:05and taking them to the Poe Collector in Hyrule Castle Town, you'll earn the fourth bottle. But honestly,
10:11unless you're going for a 100% run, you may as well just stick to three and save yourself the
10:17hassle.
10:23The Hylian Shield. The Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword.
10:36If you want to earn Link's Classic Shield and Skyward Sword, you better be prepared
10:41to fight for it. After meeting the dragon Lanayru, players can challenge themselves to a boss rush
10:47mode. While you can choose what boss you start with, every other one will be randomized. Each fight
10:52also only gives you access to the items you would have had when encountering the boss for the first
10:57time in the story. And you can't take any bottled items like potions or fairies with you, making it a
11:11bit harder to heal. Although there are 12 possible rounds to get through, Link is given the Hylian
11:17Shield after beating eight of them. Still, that many bosses in a row can prove tough.
11:27The Last Figurine. The Legend of Zelda The Wind Waker.
11:37After reaching the Forest Haven and Wind Waker, players can take on one of the longest side quests
11:43in Zelda history. In the Nintendo Gallery, Link can bring Karlov a picture of any character or enemy
11:50from the game to have him craft a figurine. What makes this time consuming, other than tracking
11:55everyone down, are Karlov's rules. The pictures have to be colored, requiring a separate side quest,
12:01and the subject has to be centered and looking at the camera. Or else he won't accept it, which is
12:07pretty hard with certain enemies and bosses. This was made much easier in the HD remake,
12:12which started with the color camera, let you save 10 pictures instead of 3, and marked each successful
12:19picture so you didn't waste any time. But finishing it in the original to earn the final figurine of
12:25Link and the King of Red Lions was a major commitment.
12:37Ice Arrows. The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time
12:47Most Zelda games give Link elemental arrows through the main story, but the same can't be said of Ocarina of
12:54the time. In order to earn the Ice Arrows, you have to make it through the optional Gerudo training
12:59ground. This is a series of locked, connected rooms in which Link must defeat enemies, overcome obstacles
13:05and hazards, or both to earn another key. It also uses most of the items found in the main dungeons,
13:14making each room varied. Thankfully, there are enough keys so that you don't worry about your starting
13:20direction, but some of the rooms are actually pretty tough, especially those that give you a time
13:24limit to accomplish their goal.
13:33Master Cycle Zero. The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild
13:44In addition to the brutal Trial of the Sword, Breath of the Wild's DLC came with story content
13:50and an unlockable that made exploring the overworld much faster, the Master Cycle Zero. And it naturally
13:57took a lot of effort to get. You had to complete 16 new shrines. The first four on the Great
14:03Plateau
14:03forced you to use the one-hit obliterator, one health point for both Link and his enemies. You
14:09then had three shrines, four for each champion, which ended with a more challenging version of their
14:15area's boss, which also limited what items you had access to. Finally, you'd face the surprisingly
14:21formidable Monk Maz Koshia, one of the toughest fights in the series with four varied phases. Your reward was a
14:29motorcycle. Pretty odd, but fun on the Great Plateau. I'll tie it.
14:41Swordsman's Scrolls. The Legend of Zelda Spirit Tracks.
14:50Like many other games in the series, Spirit Tracks features a couple of collectible side quests,
14:56both of which can test your willingness to make it to the end. Link is given a journal by Niko,
15:01which he can fill up with stamps on his travels. Stamp stations, of which there are 20, can be found
15:07in
15:07noteworthy areas, from villages to dungeons, and some are more well-hidden than others. However,
15:13the more annoying quest is that of Rabbitland Rescue. Link must find and capture 50 rabbits hidden in
15:20the overworld, some of which can only be found by completing other quests.
15:29Both get you a Swordsman's Scroll. The one from the Stamp Quest gives Link a great spin attack,
15:35while finishing the Rabbitland Quest lets him shoot beams from his sword.
15:48The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom
15:55Majora's Mask was added as a highly useful item in the DLC for Breath of the Wild,
16:00letting Link approach most enemies without them attacking. For Tears of the Kingdom though,
16:04Nintendo decided to test our combat prowess to make sure we were worthy. In the sequel,
16:09the mask is found in the depths, directly beneath the Colosseum Ruins on the surface. Except,
16:15in order to get it, you have to defeat five Gloom-covered Lynels in a row, increasing in difficulty,
16:22with the last one being an Armored Silver Lynel.
16:32That would be hard normally, but the Gloom Affliction puts you even more on edge,
16:38especially if you haven't earned enough hearts or found better armor at this point.
16:50The Extravagant Bridal and Saddle The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild
17:00The horse-riding mini-games in Breath of the Wild are recipes for absolute fury. Trying to earn the
17:07knight's bridle and saddle from the mounted archery camp is definitely frustrating, yet hitting targets
17:12from horseback is surprisingly not as bad as trying to make it through Highland Stable's obstacle course.
17:18Players must spend 20 rupees to leap over 10 hurdles, which are spread out in a nearby plane,
17:24within a certain time limit to get the rewards.
17:33The Extravagant Bridal
17:34Finishing under a minute and 30 seconds gets you the Extravagant Bridal,
17:37while finishing under a minute and 15 seconds gets you the Saddle.
17:41What sounds simple on paper is infuriating in practice.
17:45The horses are harder to control when going fast, while going too slow or just being off by a hair
17:52from the center will cause them not to jump over the hurdle.
18:02The Hammer
18:03Zelda 2 The Adventure of Link
18:09Everything else on our list is completely optional, thankfully,
18:13but the hammer in Zelda 2 is required to beat the game, and it's a complete nightmare to find.
18:19Link can pick it up on Death Mountain, by far the most complex and frustrating iteration of the
18:26famous location. What makes getting the hammer so maddening is that it's found at the end of a huge
18:31maze, filled with stronger enemies than anything you will have seen up until this point.
18:41And since you can venture here relatively early in the game, it has a reputation for being a huge
18:47difficulty spike. Making it through this without help from the internet or tips from Nintendo Power back
18:53in the day was a major challenge.
19:03Light Ring L2 The Legend of Zelda Oracle of Ages
19:14Getting everything in Oracle of Ages is one of the most difficult things to do in any Zelda game,
19:20and that's because of the inclusion of rings. This specific ring can only be earned in a minigame,
19:27a shooting gallery found in Lena Village. Players must score at least 350 points to earn a ring as their
19:33prize. But the problem is that there's no way of knowing if it's the Light Ring L2,
19:39or some other ring, until you get it appraised.
19:50This is the only way to earn this item, but it has less than a 5% chance of being
19:56the correct one.
19:57It's an upgrade of the previous L1 version and lets Link fire sword beams while still missing up to
20:033 hearts. But that benefit hardly seems worth the effort.
20:16Hestu's Gift The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom
20:26In Breath of the Wild, players could collect 900 Korok seeds to fully max out their inventory space,
20:32and receive the hilariously underwhelming reward of Hestu's Gift. Nintendo made things a bit more
20:38challenging in Tears of the Kingdom, with 1,000 seeds to collect this time. Quite frankly, that's ridiculous.
20:46There were only 800 puzzles this time, with the additional 100 earned by reuniting duos of Koroks through
20:53transportational obstacles. There's a little more variety, especially with how you can build different
20:58vehicles to help some of them reach their friends, but that variety does add to the difficulty.
21:03Still, it's the sheer amount of time and searching for these little guys that makes the quest hard.
21:08All for the same useless item you got in the first game.
21:15Big Goron Sword The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time
21:23Adult Link's trading quest in Ocarina of Time is famous now, considering how beloved the game is,
21:29and how it leads to the intensely powerful Big Goron Sword. But playing through it without knowing
21:35the order, what you're meant to do, is pretty obscure.
21:43It starts in Kakariko Village, where the Cuckoo Lady gives Link an egg to wake up a heavy sleeper.
21:48Easy stuff. The quest gained notoriety through kids probably not looking at the map, which indicates
21:54the next area to go to. Although, you still have to put in effort tracking down the right NPC.
22:00Things grow even harder with certain items that come with a time limit, as you'll have to rush across
22:05the kingdom, since warping won't work. The weapon is certainly worth getting,
22:10but there's no denying this stressed us out back in the day.
22:21Hero's Charm The Legend of Zelda The Wind Waker HD
22:33When it comes to earning the Hero's Charm, it's a lot harder in the HD version than the GameCube one.
22:39In the original, Windfall Island teacher Mrs. Marie gives it to Link after he gives her 40 joy pendants.
22:50In the HD remaster, it's found at the end of the Savage Labyrinth. The fact that joy is used for
22:56one
22:56method and savage used for the other really sums up the difficulty spike. While it's required you
23:02complete 30 floors of progressively tougher monsters for the story, you have to conquer 20 more to earn
23:08this prize. It lets Link see the health bars of all enemies. A nice benefit. But it definitely takes a
23:15lot of effort from the player.
23:25Tycoon Wallet The Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword
23:36We're grateful Nintendo has seemingly done away with the wallet-sized system because some of them
23:41take a lot of work to unlock. The Tycoon Wallet from Skyward Sword can hold up to 9,000 rupees,
23:48which is far more than you would ever need by the time you're able to get it.
23:51It's the final prize in the side quest of Batro, a monster living in Skyloft who wants to be human.
24:03Scattered about on some Sky Islands, though more commonly earned in other side quests,
24:08are gratitude crystals, of which Batro needs all 80 before he can transform and therefore cough up
24:14the wallet. Although none of these quests are too challenging, some are well hidden, and it's still a
24:20tremendous amount of work.
24:29Super Net The Legend of Zelda A Link Between Worlds
24:40Similar to Wind Waker's Savage Labyrinth, the treacherous tower from A Link Between Worlds has
24:46to unlock the next level, as you work through floors of increasingly stronger enemies. Only here,
24:50it's divided into three levels of difficulty, and each one must be beaten to unlock the next.
24:55The advanced level comes with a staggering 50 floors and costs 300 rupees to enter. After beating
25:02it, you'll be gifted the Super Lamp.
25:11But in order to get the Super Net, which is really just the normal net with the ability to damage
25:16enemies, you have to beat it a second time. As if the first time wasn't difficult enough,
25:21that's also a lot of dedication with no health drops for something you don't really need.
25:31Hero of the Wild Set and Ancient Heroes Aspect. The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild and Tears of
25:38the Kingdom. Although they're different rewards from different games, the Hero of the Wild Set and
25:49the Ancient Heroes Aspect are earned in basically the same way. But which one you find more challenging
25:54to get depends on your skill as a player. The Hero of the Wild Set is given to you by
25:59the Sheikah
26:00Monks. After Link has completed all 120 shrines in Breath of the Wild.
26:11And the Ancient Heroes Aspect is earned after completing the 152 shrines in Tears of the Kingdom.
26:21Granted, some shrines are obviously harder than others. But because each of these rewards
26:26is locked behind something that requires a ton of time searching for and beating,
26:30they're some of the hardest rewards to earn in Zelda.
26:36The Fierce Deity Mask. The Legend of Zelda, Majora's Mask.
26:47There are a few masks in Majora's Mask that are pretty challenging to unlock. For example,
26:53the couple's mask is earned after one of the hardest, longest side quests in Zelda history.
26:58Of course, that means the mask you only get from earning all the rest has to take the cake. Once
27:04Link makes it to the final section, he can trade away the 20 minor masks to the four children running
27:09around the tree. And then play some very intense hide and seek.
27:20Only then will the child sitting under the tree gift him with the Fierce Deity Mask.
27:25It grants him the ability to make any boss, including the final one, seem like nothing in comparison,
27:31so it's more than worth getting.
27:41Colossal Wallet. The Legend of Zelda, Twilight Princess HD.
27:53Here we have two staples of the past Zelda era, another big wallet, and a combat dungeon.
27:59Only in the HD version of Twilight Princess can you get the Colossal Wallet, which can hold 9,999 rupees.
28:08By scanning this remaster's Wolf Link amiibo, you could access the Cave of Shadows,
28:13a 40 floor dungeon like those before it, but which had to be played as Link's alternate form.
28:26Not having access to your full inventory certainly makes things tougher. However, you have to gain
28:32wallets in order of increasing capacity. If you haven't found the 24 golden bugs hidden about Hyrule for
28:38Agatha's side quest, you'll get the next largest wallet. If you want the colossal one, you have to do both.
28:49Mirror Shield. The Legend of Zelda, The Minish Cap.
29:01The Mirror Shield is usually earned late game, but Minish Cap took it a step further. For starters,
29:07you have to have already beaten the final boss. For another, it takes a series of obscure,
29:13hidden kinstone fusions to pull off. You start by fusing with one of the farmers in Eastern Hills,
29:19which causes a Goron digging by Lan Lan Ranch to break into a cave. In order to get him help,
29:24you have to fuse with five seemingly ordinary walls hidden in different caves. Doing all of that
29:31only gets you the last empty bottle. But afterward, fusing with one of the Gorons causes Big Goron to
29:40pop up in Veil Falls. After Link gives him his shield and waits 20 minutes, you finally get your just
29:46reward.
29:51The Bomber's Ring. The Legend of Zelda, Oracle of Ages.
30:02Zelda has some annoying minigames, but the Goron dancing from Oracle of Ages is pretty close to the
30:08top. Getting the rhythm right from the little bleeps and bloops is surprisingly challenging.
30:13You can find it in the present and the past, but the older era has the Bomber's Ring,
30:18which lets Link place two bombs at once. There are three skill levels to choose from,
30:23platinum being the hardest. That means getting every single note and pause perfect in some rather
30:29drawn out sequences.
30:38You'll get a magic ring for your troubles, but there's only a chance it will be the Bomber's Ring.
30:43It's more than likely you'll walk out of there with a ring you can find elsewhere,
30:47but this is the only way you can earn this prize.
30:54What other items in the series gave you a hard time? Be sure to head to the comments
30:59and let us know, and we will see you next time.
