00:00Whoa, um, wow. What is this place Orson? It's weird.
00:08Welcome to Mojo Plays and today we're taking a look at 10 3D platformers that are in desperate
00:15need of a remake. Before we begin we publish new videos all week long so be sure to subscribe to
00:21Mojo Plays and ring the bell to be notified about our latest videos. Super Mario Sunshine
00:32Out of all of the 3D Mario games, Sunshine is in the biggest need of some repair. It's not exactly
00:39because it's buggy and the visuals do hold up rather well. However, the physics, collision detection,
00:46and annoying use of blue coins really drag the game down. Take it from somebody who suffered through
00:52that frickin' pachinko level for 30 minutes straight. Sunshine has not aged well outside of
00:58music, boss fights, and graphics. With these problems occurring under the hood, Nintendo could
01:04benefit more from gutting the whole thing and putting some more spit and polish on it the same
01:09way they did for Galaxy and Odyssey.
01:19Banjo Kazooie
01:28It's almost hard to say that Banjo Kazooie absolutely needs a remake. In all honesty, it kind of doesn't as
01:35the
01:36level design visuals and even the controls have aged like fine wine. Our desire for a remake mostly
01:42stems from curiosity. What would Banjo Kazooie look like if it were made by the new kids running Rare
01:48today? Just about everybody who worked on the original game has left the company to go form
01:54Playtonic Games or focus on their own respective projects and investments. The new kids haven't done
01:59much else outside of Sea of Thieves since 2018, so it'd be very interesting to see them try to make
02:05Banjo
02:06into something of their own, even if it's just in new visuals.
02:18Bomberman 64
02:31Bomberman 64 is in dire need of a remake for one reason and one reason only, the controls. Back in
02:381997,
02:39the eight-way directional movement was not uncommon in video games. We had already gotten used to those
02:45controls by this point, so it wasn't anything to gripe about at the time. But we're now in the 21st
02:51century, where omnidirectional movement is a possibility and makes games play way, way better.
02:58It has resulted in Bomberman 64 becoming a dusty old relic. Konami has already brought back a bunch of
03:04classic Bomberman games back anyways, so is a remake of 64 really that far-fetched of an idea?
03:11Tack and the power of Juju! Now you can do this any time you need to look at something,
03:16simple enough! The Tack games have cropped up in peculiar corners of retro gaming in recent years.
03:22It's a bit strange considering the games were serviceable at best, forgettable at worst. Regardless,
03:28Nickelodeon and THQ made aggressive pushes to make Tack a thing, and it worked way longer than most had
03:35expected. The last game released in 2008, while the TV series continued running until 2012. Today, THQ
03:43lives on as THQ Nordic, composed of old staff who, judging by the frequency of Spongebob games as of late,
03:51have maintained a good relationship with Nickelodeon. That said, our morbid curiosity has been piqued.
03:57What would a remake of Tack and the power of Juju look like made with modern sensibilities in game
04:03design? Honestly, we're not opposed to the idea of seeing Tack return onto our PS5s or our Switch 2s.
04:10Tack, you know how I've been telling you a little about each place we visited?
04:15Robot on Wheels!
04:24Sucker Punch Productions has made it explicitly clear that nobody is working on anything relating
04:29to their IPs, and with the Ghost Games being done, the studio is ready to move on to something else.
04:35Well, given that Bluepoint Games is no more, thanks Herman. Hey Sucker Punch, have you ever thought about
04:41revisiting Rocket Robot on Wheels? This was perhaps the most technically innovative game ever released
04:47on the Nintendo 64, with how objects reacted to the player's interactions, even through something as
04:53simple as jumping on an object. Imagine some of the cool stuff you can do with the power of PlayStation
04:585
04:58though. Maybe you could expand on these ideas a bit more, hmm?
05:09Pac-Man World 3
05:19Okay, this is likely already happening anyways. At the time of this video, we've already gotten remakes of
05:25Pac-Man World and Pac-Man World 2. Pac-Man turns 50 in just a few short years from now.
05:31Before we even
05:32reach that, we should get a remake of Pac-Man World 3. Sure, it's the weakest entry in the trilogy
05:38for
05:38being way easier than the other two games, and having some technical problems in the ports. Still,
05:45it would be really weird to reach what may be Bondi Namco's most historic milestone in the company's
05:51lifetime without completing the trilogy. But, we're sure we'll see this in 2028 or 2029 at the latest.
06:09Tonic Trouble
06:16Who knows what's going on with Rayman anymore? Yeah, we got that 30th anniversary port of the
06:22original Rayman, but does Ubisoft have anything else going on that isn't Assassin's Creed,
06:27or slapping the name of a long-dead author onto anything involving guns? If not, then here's an
06:33idea for them. Revisit Tonic Trouble. This is one of those rare instances of a good idea poorly
06:40executed. The bizarre visuals brought the same wacky flavor that helped make Rayman popular,
06:46but every level felt like it was hastily cobbled together with no rhyme or reason outside of
06:51player jump ear. We'd love to see the new generation of Ubisoft devs revisit Tonic Trouble,
06:57and try to make it just as beloved as Rayman was. But that corporate restructure might be shooting
07:03that dream down. Sonic Heroes
07:18The 3D Sonic games are hit and miss for most fans, but most can agree that Sonic Heroes is the
07:25weakest
07:25of them all. Not counting Sonic 06 of course, we don't talk about Sonic 06. Sonic Heroes was loved for
07:31the team-based mechanics, but over time, the bugs and glitches have been way more glaring than we
07:36remembered. Today, we know Sonic Team can cook with the right leadership and direction, just as we saw
07:42with Sonic Frontiers. So, imagine what they can do with a game already laid out for them. From there,
07:49your only obstacles are just art direction, lighting, and making sure the game plays well. Come on Sega,
07:56let's make Sonic Heroes the gem we wanted it to be.
08:02Mystical Ninja starring Goemon
08:14With Konami back in the fold, there is one other hero we would love to see them bring back,
08:19and that is Goemon. Mystical Ninja was one of the most bizarre takes on the bandit from Japanese
08:25folklore, as it saw Goemon trying to stop a gang of space shoguns from turning Japan into a planet made
08:32entirely of Kabuki theater. Weird? Unquestionably, but a game with this humor and absurdity is
08:39something we desperately need these days. Sure, Nintendo and Konami could throw the original game
08:45onto Switch Online and call it a day, or they could just remake it with refined visuals, controls, and
08:51maybe even some new gags included for extra laughs. Admittedly, it wouldn't be as big as Metal Gear or
08:57Silent Hill's Resurgence, but still, it's worth a shot. Blasto.
09:10This may be a tough game for Sony to revisit given how Phil Hartman died, may he rest in peace,
09:16but remaking the game could be a great way to honor the man too. Blasto is often forgotten about by
09:22the
09:22PlayStation community, and it doesn't help that the game has been stranded on the original PS1,
09:27since 1998. It doesn't play as well as it did at the time either. That said, Blasto could easily be
09:35remade into something more refined and unique, perhaps as a joint project between Insomniac and
09:40Housemarque, both studios known for their work in third-person shooters. As for Hartman's voice work,
09:46the audio quality is still excellent and will require very little work to touch up. The only hurdle is
09:52getting ahold of his kids and asking for their permission. That said, if you can't get Hartman's
09:58lines and voice, don't bother. You do not touch a key part of this man's legacy.
