00:00A volatile day is on tap on Tuesday with widespread severe weather erupting across the region and a rare high
00:08risk zone centered near Chicago.
00:11Destructive hail, powerful damaging winds and a few tornadoes will all be in play.
00:18It begins with our storm that came across California this weekend.
00:23You can see the spin moving across California and into the Intermountain West.
00:28No, on the southeastern side of that, the white, that's the moisture spreading from the southwest all the way into
00:36the Midwest.
00:36That's one of the ingredients for severe weather.
00:40Plenty of moisture.
00:41The other ingredient, well, along with the energy is the warmth.
00:45Plenty of warmth on Tuesday.
00:47Take a look at high temperatures, widespread 80s.
00:50In fact, with the heightened humidity, this will have a feel of July and August.
00:55And then once that storm arrives in this air mass, thunderstorms are going to erupt.
01:01And while we are looking from Texas all the way into the upper Midwest for the severe weather, the core
01:06of the severe weather is going to be across parts of Iowa, northern Illinois, and southern Wisconsin, where we do
01:12have a rare high risk issued for Tuesday.
01:16We are worried about very large hail, baseball side sail that could do damage, destructive winds, there will be heavy
01:24rain, and of course, there will be a few isolated tornadoes.
01:28But of those impacts, it's the wind and the hail that will likely do most of the damage.
