00:00Alright, Hawks and Heat. Hawks trying to hold on to the five spot. I can't wait to see the Hawks
00:06in the playoff. The Miami Heat trying to win this game and hopefully, from their view, host a play-in
00:13game against Charlotte. But they need Charlotte to lose tonight. Boy, that's a good matchup. That's a hell of a
00:19matchup. I'm going with my dream team.
00:23Norman Powell. Yeah, Norman Powell is the X Factor. This guy can put the ball in the basket at a
00:29high, high clip. Congratulations, too, making the ball start for the first time. They're up 7.840 to go in
00:37the third quarter. Talked about the Hornets. Now, if the Hornets win this game, they will host that play-in
00:43game against Miami. If they lose, Miami wins.
00:47And you will not see. I tell you what. Jalen Brunson. You will not see. Josh Hart. You will not
00:53see. No, you won't. You know what's crazy? Cal Bridges. You will not see. Hey, Ernie. Hey, what's crazy? What's
01:00crazy is. Oh. You get a vote for all these awards. Yeah. MVP and Rook of the Year. Gonna be
01:06the two closest races in a long time. Yeah, a couple of good races. You see Charlotte with the lead
01:10in New York. McHale Bridges, by the way, played one minute. He's a streak alive. Get well, Joel Embiid.
01:15Yeah, appendicitis for the big fella. Meantime, Philadelphia has a hope of getting into the playoffs tonight, but they're gonna
01:25need a lot of help. Nothing like Jason Capone. Need Orlando to lose. Need Toronto to lose. Yeah, I don't
01:31think the Pope can help them.
01:33Well, let's see. He was with the Globetrotters the other night. You never know. Hey, listen. A.J. Green. Big
01:40first half at 19. Capone. Listen, I love my sisters, but they don't need to do nothing.
01:45They need to get some rest for next year. Been a tough year on the mean streets for the Bucs.
01:5132 and 49.
01:53You still got the Flyers.
01:55Not in the water.
01:58You're watching NBA Sunday presented by State Farm. Part of the playoff push presented by Advil from Boston.
02:05As we take a look at our first half stats brought to you by Ford.
02:10Boston Celtics without their regular starters tonight, but their culture continues to persist.
02:17Only down by nine, but shooting just 33% from the field.
02:22Orlando turning the ball over 11 times.
02:24Boston converting 15 points off of turnovers.
02:30Well, here's a live look in right now with the Philadelphia 76ers taking on Milwaukee and Philadelphia leading by four
02:40points.
02:41Now, keep in mind, if Philadelphia loses to Milwaukee, Orlando could host Philadelphia on Tuesday in the SoFi play-in
02:51tournament.
02:52As for Toronto, they're taking on Brooklyn and leading right now.
02:56If Toronto wins, Orlando cannot get out of the SoFi play-in tournament.
03:01And it should be noted, if Philly wins, then Orlando has to win.
03:06Yes.
03:07So, plenty at stake here in these final 24 minutes, including, like, continuing to try to build and use the
03:14minutes.
03:16Let's take a look at the look in from the Yes Network.
03:20Toronto leading by 12.
03:22Doing a little quick math just on the way up at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto.
03:28Brooklyn sitting most of their starters, pretty much all of their starters in this game.
03:32And if Toronto wins that game, then there is no way for Orlando to get out of the play-in.
03:39So, then the key becomes winning this one so that you can host a game in that seventh seed.
03:46Here's Harper Jr. had that prolific first half.
03:48Left that one short.
03:51Bogner on the break.
03:52Got to the rim, but left it short.
03:55He hit his back pretty well on that stanchion.
04:00Desmond Bain does not start this third quarter, Doris, for Orlando.
04:05He's only played six minutes tonight.
04:07Vankero inside.
04:10And draws the foul from Harper Jr. and Shulga.
04:14Bain has played all 82 games this season.
04:21They started all 82.
04:23Might not get much more tick going forward.
04:26Angel telling us before the game, he didn't intend on playing that many minutes this evening.
04:32Six was under what I expected, however.
04:36Vankero at the foul line.
04:41Let the team in scoring 33 times this year.
04:45Angel?
04:45Yeah, just as far as the 82 games for Desmond Bain, I was able to catch up with him.
04:49And the team references him as Iron Man.
04:52Coach said the same.
04:54He said he does everything for this team.
04:56He's just that guy that's a real one.
04:58But when I was talking to Jalen Suggs, he just mentioned how he continues to show up.
05:02But Desmond Bain mentioned, he said he was speaking with Tyus before the season, and he wanted to make sure
05:06that he wrote down an accomplishment.
05:08He said the words that he wrote down was consistently show up.
05:12He said this is the greatest accomplishment of his career, being able to show up, especially as a starter.
05:17And that has not been done for the Orlando Magic since Dwight Howard back in 2009, guys.
05:23Something to take note of.
05:24Wagner in the paint, got it to fall.
05:26You know, Desmond Bain, at 27 years old, Doris, is the oldest starter.
05:32When you look at Vankero, 23, Wagner, 24, Carter Jr., 26, and Suggs, only 24.
05:38Well, there are many reasons they considered him a perfect match.
05:40As you see Carter's ability to guard on the perimeter.
05:44Harper Jr. out front against Wagner defensively.
05:47And Harper Jr. on a heater.
05:50This guy continues to impress.
05:52His ability to get to the spots on the floor that he wants.
05:55And if you're conceding the jump shot, he's more than happy to take it.
06:00Orlando's lead down to nine.
06:02Vankero blocking Schulge down and had it knocked out of bounds.
06:06It'll stay at this end.
06:08Harper Jr. has been in attack mode all evening.
06:12And Franz Wagner, the only guy in front, as soon as Franz reached,
06:16the ability to cross him over and get right to the cup.
06:19He's consistently touched the paint.
06:22Former two-way player.
06:24That three a little bit long by Carter Jr.
06:26Harper Jr., meanwhile, earned a standard two-year deal last weekend on cue for three.
06:35Garza battling for the rebound.
06:38Tied up.
06:39We'll have a jump ball.
06:40Jump ball.
06:43Garza.
06:44With interminable effort there, giving them another opportunity.
06:48He's got eight boards.
06:50Had trouble getting consistent run in Minnesota.
06:53But has filled the backup five spot beautifully here.
07:01Moving forward, Doris, how impactful you think Garza can be in the playoffs coming in after Kata and even Vucevic?
07:09Yeah, I think there's questions across the roster.
07:12Mark, I think Shireman obviously has played his way into a consistent role.
07:17Can he get this one to go indeed?
07:18You know, Jordan Walsh can be a difference maker on the defensive end.
07:23He's got to play disciplined defense, but, you know, he can make an impact.
07:28For Garza, what I wonder is, as you see, you see Paolo playing bully ball.
07:36Let's watch Shireman work a little bit because he's been terrific all afternoon.
07:41Harper.
07:41Harper, the little shovel pass, and Shireman a nice little efficient dribble.
07:47What I wonder about Garza is, listen, he's going to be part of the rotation.
07:51You know, how much may be contingent on the matchup?
07:55And what I wonder is, will his minutes be affected?
07:58Down the stretch of the Oklahoma City game, Joe Missoula played Jason Tatum at the five.
08:04And so it's only 2% of the minutes in the time Jason has come back that he's been at
08:09the five.
08:10But it was good against Oklahoma City to close, and how much do we see it in the playoffs?
08:16And Garo misfiring on the second.
08:19I was wondering, coming into this contest tonight, this being a potential first round two against seven matchup
08:25with Boston locked into number two.
08:28How much would Joe Missoula poke and prod to have Orlando reveal themselves a little bit?
08:35As Garza spins, and Pohl's got it blocked by Carter Jr.
08:40It'll be baseline out of bounds, Boston basketball.
08:44We saw Carter Jr. get down in a stance and guard the perimeter.
08:47Now he's going to come over in rotation and send Mr. Garza's shot into the second row.
08:54Seven-point lead.
08:55Walsh on the baseline out of bounds.
08:56Nice cut for the layoff.
09:01Austin cuts that lead to just five.
09:06Orlando still playing for a chance to make it to the six seed.
09:10And a guaranteed playoff spot.
09:12Trying to avoid the play-in tournament.
09:13Vanquero playing with his food.
09:16Kicks it back out to Silva on the show and go.
09:19Well defended but fouled by Walsh.
09:23So you often wonder about special situations.
09:26What's your execution level off of special situations?
09:29Watch the screen initially by Jordan Walsh and then the sprint to the cup.
09:35But then you get what I consider to be a weakness for him, the fouling issue.
09:41There's times where he can be undisciplined as a defensive player.
09:44Impactful, certainly.
09:46But as you know, Joe Mazzullo believes so much in the possession game
09:50that they are a top five defensive team
09:53without putting their opponent at the free throw line a ton.
09:57That's a bit of a challenge with an Orlando team
09:59that shoots the most free throws per game in the NBA.
10:03Harper out top against Bogdan.
10:07Charmin with the ghost screen.
10:08Off the flair.
10:10Great action by the Celtics.
10:12Everything but the bucket doors.
10:13Mark, that's action they've gone to an awful lot this season.
10:16That off-the-ball screening.
10:19That's going to be a goaltend call.
10:21Count the bucket for the Magic.
10:24Wagner gets credit for it.
10:26Wagner now...
10:28Pardon me.
10:30We're going to second look at it.
10:32Yeah.
10:33Easy.
10:34Wagner.
10:34Yeah, easy call.
10:38Wagner guarding Harper Jr.
10:43Spits it out to Walsh for three.
10:45Got it.
10:47And that's it.
10:48The open shots are going to come in a playoff series for Jordan Walsh, right?
10:51If he's on the floor, he's the one guy you're going to come off.
10:54Just not because, you know, you're not going to give one to Derek White or either of the Jays.
11:01Walsh has been an indispensable piece at times.
11:05And Suggs, he's shooting the ball well from deep here tonight, folks.
11:08Five of ten overall from downtown.
11:1117 points in the ballgame for Jalen Suggs.
11:17Harper Jr.
11:17Out top against Carter.
11:19Shireman drives it past Suggs.
11:22Spits it out to Shulga.
11:24Got it.
11:25Great jive, though.
11:28You know, Suggs on the closeout had a tough angle.
11:32And that's what you do.
11:34You attack it and create for others.
11:37Down to a four-point lead.
11:38And that's going to be a foul against Wagner.
11:41Great hustle by Shireman.
11:45Bruised but not beaten.
11:47Just a sore back.
11:49Back after this.
11:54Welcome back to NBA Sunday, presented by State Farm.
11:57Well, the Boston Celtics' signature doors continues to be the proclivity for three-pointers taken.
12:02Doesn't matter who is in or out of the rotation.
12:05The emphasis remains the same.
12:07Shireman has been terrific.
12:08Harper Jr., from the outset of this basketball game, has been aggressive and assertive.
12:13And this happened just a couple of moments ago.
12:16And then Shulga off the read, the rim read by Shireman, makes good.
12:23Remember, Orlando has to win tonight in order to have an opportunity at the number six seed.
12:30Right now, Philadelphia in control in their game.
12:34If Philadelphia wins and Orlando loses, the Magic would fall to the eighth seed
12:40and play their first game of the SoFi Play-In Tournament on the road.
12:45Ron Harper Jr. having himself quite the 26th birthday.
12:50He's almost got as many points at 22.
12:54With plenty of time remaining.
13:00Vankero, lacerating the lane, but turns it over.
13:04Shireman gave it right back.
13:06Suggs, a little room service for Vankero.
13:09I've got to be honest with you, Mark.
13:11Like, we talked about it to start the second half.
13:14There are implications in this basketball game.
13:16Most notably, Angel documented coming on the air tonight,
13:21like, they had momentum with how they were playing and where they were in terms of win-loss.
13:26I mean, if you do not win against a Celtics team that has, you know,
13:31a lot of guys who will not be in the playoff rotation, that bust momentum,
13:35you wonder how you're feeling about yourself going into the playoffs.
13:40It could bring about a lot of questions internally.
13:47Carter screens it for Black.
13:49One more to Vankero.
13:50Launches the three.
13:52Carter Jr. battling underneath.
13:54Shireman everywhere tonight.
13:57Over to Shulgo.
13:59One more.
14:00Harper Jr. had an ocean.
14:03Shot clock at 12.
14:07Shireman from deep.
14:08Got it!
14:12How about this guy?
14:14Career high.
14:1622 for Baylor Shireman.
14:19Finally, the building comes alive.
14:24Shireman might be him tonight.
14:27I mean, we talked about it.
14:28He's earned his way into the rotation.
14:30You've got Wendell Carter Jr. in your face.
14:34Guy who's already blocked a shot earlier in the basketball game,
14:37and he lets him hear it on his way back.
14:41He's been 40% from three since the All-Star break, folks.
14:47A guy who wasn't in the rotation prior to February.
14:50Incredible growth.
14:51And it's tied at 73.
14:53The last time it was tied was back at 18 apiece.
14:57Anthony Black could not knock down the jumper and the Celtics down.
15:01Now, surprisingly, with a chance to take the lead.
15:03Harper Jr.
15:04Cutting through the paint and catching a body.
15:10A career five for him with 24.
15:16Two-point lead for the Celtics.
15:19Garza with the pull.
15:20And now the crowd is understanding.
15:23Okay, here we go.
15:24Oh, with audacious impulse.
15:26The put-back good by Garza.
15:29Timeout, Orlando.
15:32TD Garden, the microphone is yours.
15:42Well, the Boston Celtics have flipped this game and now have a four-point lead.
15:47Baylor Shireman has been one of the driving forces.
15:49As you said, he's everywhere.
15:51Harper Jr. having himself a career night.
15:54Shireman off the miss, but Garza, as he has all year,
15:58the end one for the offensive rebound.
16:01And I'm going to say this about Garza and the bigs.
16:04They run around for Boston and they're looking opportunistically to set screens.
16:09And, you know, it could be an on-ball screen, off-ball screen,
16:12but they're trying to free their teammates.
16:13I love the approach from both of them.
16:16Selfishly with their screen assist.
16:18Here's Harper Jr.
16:20Back out to Banton.
16:23Shireman with the go screen.
16:24Banton turns the corner.
16:26Good help by Black.
16:27Back to Shireman.
16:29Working against Bancaro.
16:33Bancaro moving to Speakwell.
16:35Shireman on a wave like a do-rag.
16:39Baylor Shireman!
16:4425 doors first.
16:47Bancaro trying to punish him at the other end.
16:49Missed the second one.
16:51Batase.
16:52Kane one more.
16:54Carter from the corner.
16:56And another opportunity for the Magic.
17:0110 on the shot clock.
17:02They run their split action.
17:03Good slip.
17:04But Black couldn't make the catch.
17:05And a turbo.
17:06I can't emphasize it enough, folks.
17:10Baylor Shireman has played his way into a role on the Boston Celtics,
17:14and I expect it to continue.
17:16And it matters not, Mark Jones, where it is.
17:20He is unafraid.
17:22Love the confidence that he's playing with right now.
17:25He's earned that confidence.
17:27Sam Cassell was telling me earlier.
17:30He's not a pigeon on defense.
17:32He competes defensively, and that's further imbued the coaching staff
17:35with confidence to play him a lot more.
17:40Pigeon being the guy that's hunted for his defensive inefficiency, shall we say.
17:45In NBA parlance, yes.
17:48Garza connecting from deep.
17:49The torrent of three-pointers continues for the Celtics.
17:54Boy, after a tough first half, 7 for 25,
17:57the Boston Celtics now 6 for 12 from 3 in the second half.
18:04The Shireman compete fighting over that screen.
18:06Bonker draws the foul.
18:09The lead is up to 8.
18:10Orlando bleeding right now.
18:12What's your role, and do you star in your role?
18:14You see Garza set the screen, get off it quickly,
18:17and get himself to 3.
18:19They generate a ton of points from this kind of exact action, Mark Jones.
18:24And, Garza, I'm telling you, the longer the year has worn on,
18:28the more he's understood where his shots come from
18:31and the more confident he's been from 3.
18:33You talk to some of his former teammates in Minnesota.
18:37They are all over the moon.
18:40Happy that he's getting a chance here in Boston.
18:43Let's take a look at the upcoming play-in tournament schedule.
18:47It's Tuesday on Prime at 7.30.
18:54We'll have the first game, then 10 o'clock after that,
18:57then Wednesday, 7.30 and 10 o'clock again.
19:00For more on these games, please go to NBA.com or visit the NBA app.
19:04So for Luka Garza, that's the second double-double of the year
19:08and the fourth in his career.
19:11Batazze switches out onto Banton.
19:15Shireman.
19:16You would figure he'd get a touch here.
19:19Tween, Tween.
19:20He's thirsty.
19:21Over Batazze.
19:23Wow!
19:25Wow!
19:28Hotter than fish grease!
19:3428 on the meter, and it's still running for Shireman.
19:41Baylor Shireman, undaunted and unafraid.
19:48Wagner can't counter.
19:51Celtics with a rebound.
19:52And listen to this crowd start to come along,
19:55understanding who they're up against.
19:57Harper Jr. got it!
20:00It's an avalanche!
20:02Number three!
20:13And Orlando Batazze finally stops the hemorrhaging.
20:16Well, it felt like a big, big, much-needed basket.
20:20This was getting away from them.
20:23He's out top.
20:26Spins.
20:27The jump hook.
20:29Buy one, get one, free.
20:31Luca Garza.
20:33I mean, the three, as you said it, Mark,
20:36it doesn't matter who's on the floor.
20:38This is a heavy emphasis,
20:39and Shireman's lighting it up right now.
20:44Harper Jr.
20:45been on fire all night,
20:47hunting shots.
20:48Mark Jones, what do you think of this?
20:52It's a lot of fun when this kind of stuff happens.
20:55Oh, you love to see this kind of talent and that kind of shot-making.
21:00Garza completed the three-point play.
21:03There's a reason we love this league, Mark Jones.
21:08Boy, Boston up by 13.
21:11What a turnaround here in the third quarter.
21:15Orlando needs to win this game, folks,
21:18for an opportunity to get to the sixth seed.
21:22They've got a hill to climb.
21:25Harper off the turnover.
21:28One minute to go in the third.
21:30Harper.
21:35Ron Carter bringing it back through the way for the Magic.
21:39Shot fake and then pulls.
21:42Out of bounds.
21:43And that'll be Orlando.
21:45No, Boston basketball.
21:47A 28-8 run for the Celtics.
21:51And the Celtics feel like they're getting to every loose basketball.
21:54They're playing with a level of intensity on the defensive end.
21:57Reaching, slapping,
21:58and the Magic not playing strong with the basketball.
22:03Harper Jr. out top.
22:06Garza slips out of the screen.
22:09Kane picks him up.
22:11Baseline cut.
22:12Tanjay underneath.
22:14Pristine execution by the Celtics again.
22:22About a seven-second difference between the shot and game clock.
22:27Matazze.
22:30He got a whistle.
22:32Was it a hold early in the play?
22:35I didn't see an indication.
22:37Oh.
22:38He might have a wet spot.
22:39Yeah.
22:39No, Garza, a little blood on his knee.
22:42So some infection control, as it's termed in the rule book.
22:48He's got Orlando bleeding out right now.
22:50His playmaking and rebounding and shooting.
22:5594-79.
22:57On this, the last day of the NBA's regular season, a full slate of games.
23:02And coming up next, don't forget San Antonio Spurs taking on the Denver Nuggets, who have won 11 consecutive games
23:08and an MVP candidate right there.
23:11Nikola Jokic, averaging 30, 12, and 11.
23:16What a season it's been for him.
23:18He has to play today to make himself eligible for postseason awards.
23:27Boy, look at those three players.
23:29And I really think, Doris, it almost goes five deep when you look at the season that Jalen Brown has
23:36had as well.
23:37And Kate Cunningham for Detroit, who looked pretty good in coming back to the court in the other night.
23:4219 seconds to go in the third.
23:45Franz Wagner.
23:47Drives it.
23:49Tipped up and in by Batazic.
23:53Baylor Shireman looked like he took a pretty good shot to the head.
23:57Boston with 42 points in the third quarter.
24:00But Harper Jr. turns it over with seven seconds to go in the period.
24:06Jordan Walsh going to come on the floor for some defense.
24:09Shireman will take a seat.
24:12As will Luka Garza.
24:13Williams in as well.
24:16Baylor Shireman, who cut his teeth in the G League last year, taking full advantage of his run this year.
24:26Bogdan will launch the three.
24:29And that's the end of the first 36 minutes of play on a career-high night for Baylor Shireman and
24:37Ron Harper Jr.
24:39Celebrating his 26th birthday.
24:42On the come-up.
24:46A jump that even Dad would be proud of.
24:50And a jumper to go along with it.
24:52Back for the fourth quarter.
24:56Welcome back to NBA Sunday presented by State Farm.
25:00I am here with Baylor Shireman, who Mark Jones just said was hotter than fish grease in the third quarter.
25:05You were electric during that time.
25:07Describe the zone that you were in for your career-high 28 points.
25:11Yeah, I think, you know, my teammates did a great job of finding me.
25:13And, you know, we did a great job as a team, created advantages.
25:15And I was just fortunate enough to knock down shots.
25:18But we're really doing a good job defensively, not fouling and rebounding.
25:22And we're going to have to continue to do that if we want to win.
25:23It has been the collective Ron Harper Jr. as well has put up some amazing shots.
25:28What are you feeling and seeing from everybody else?
25:30What made that third quarter so much fun?
25:31Yeah, like I said, I think we just were clicking as a team.
25:33We were finding each other in the right spots.
25:35We were creating advantages for each other.
25:37And then ultimately, we're just knocking down shots.
25:38All right.
25:39Thanks for your time.
25:39Thank you.
25:40Jonesy.
25:41All right.
25:41Thanks a lot, Angel.
25:42Interesting.
25:43You mentioned Doris guarding without fouling.
25:45Yes.
25:46As they foul right there.
25:48Angelina back.
25:49We'll go to the free throw line trying to complete the three-point play.
25:52But largely, they've done it well tonight.
25:54And Desmond Bing.
25:55Yeah.
25:56What do you make of this?
25:57He's only played six minutes.
25:58I think there's, obviously, we've talked about what is on the line for this basketball team.
26:02And the six minutes in the first half, boy, he had an extended, extended break here.
26:09But Jamal has got to go back to him.
26:11And Franz is over by Jamal.
26:13And he hung at that spot with his hands, you know, bent over, hands on his shorts.
26:19His gait doesn't look great here.
26:21Is this just fatigue?
26:23Or is there something there?
26:26He left the game a couple games ago in Orlando with a slight hyperextension of his knee.
26:33He ultimately came back to finish the game.
26:36He's got his head in the towel sitting over there.
26:40Williams with the punch inside.
26:43Orlando down by double digits.
26:4513 just underway here in the fourth quarter.
26:49They've got to win to have any kind of chance at the number six seed.
26:53Anthony Black draws another foul.
26:55He'll go to the free throw line.
26:57So not only does Franz linger at the half court line, he was bent over, hunched over.
27:03Then when he finally got to the end of the bench, he's sitting at the end with his head in
27:08his hands.
27:08And it's obviously visible frustration.
27:11The way he walked, I wondered, was there something physical bothering him?
27:18And they're going to put a little bit of an ice pack on the back of his left leg there
27:25in the knee area.
27:28And this is a delicate dance that Jamal Mosley is going through right now, bringing back Bain.
27:36Which kind of feels like, break the glass in case of an emergency.
27:41That's exactly what it is.
27:44Doesn't feel like it.
27:45That's what it is.
27:47And this young man at the free throw line, remember, they're trying to get Anthony Black to about 20 minutes.
27:53And to this point, he's played 15.
27:55So if that number holds, he's only got like five minutes left.
28:00And give this Boston Stay Ready group some credit.
28:04Because, you know, it's one thing to be a pro in your sixth, seventh, eighth year as Tonje lets it
28:09go.
28:09Another one.
28:10But Mark, we're talking about young guys who aren't part of the rotation,
28:15who step up here confident and ready to play.
28:19Boston now 17 of 42 from deep.
28:21Banqueiro blocked at the rim.
28:25The group of players on the floor for the Celtics right now, Doris, as you alluded to,
28:29are usually the group of players we see when we arrive at the arena two and a half hours before
28:34tip.
28:35And they're running up and down, staying ready.
28:37That's exactly right.
28:38Playing three on three or five on five against the coaches, trying to keep their wind and conditioning.
28:44Williams with a bone-jarring screen that rattles Anthony Black's fillings.
28:49But it's an offensive foul.
28:51Joe Mazzullo.
28:52I can't believe it.
28:53Yeah, Aaron Smith was the official closer.
28:56So does he set and not move?
28:59Because it felt like a lot of officiating from Jamal Mosley.
29:04You could see how frustrated Joe Mazzullo is.
29:08Boston up by 14.
29:09A little over 10 minutes to go.
29:12Banqueiro was 17 in the ballgame on just 5 of 17 from the field.
29:16Got a little inverted ball action.
29:19Carter back to Banqueiro.
29:2110 on the shot clock.
29:25Good switching by the Celtics.
29:28They find the mismatch.
29:30One more inside.
29:31Carter blocked!
29:33Boy, they were on a string defensively, Doris.
29:36Tell you what, I keep saying it.
29:38There is clarity in role definition.
29:41And the standard that has been set regardless of who is playing for the Celtics.
29:47Baylor-Shireman on the drive.
29:49Draws the hit.
29:50And he'll get a couple of shots.
29:54Boston fourth in defensive rating on the season.
29:58And as long as you get the basketball first, then the hand is part of the ball.
30:04So this is a great no-call in my opinion.
30:06And how about the vertical of Delano Banton?
30:09Wow.
30:11Sharman at the free-throw line already on a career-high night.
30:16That gives him 29, a perfect 7 of 7 from the foul line.
30:22Boston already locked into the number 2 seed.
30:25So what you're looking at could be a potential first-round playoff matchup.
30:32I'm wondering how much information Joe Mazzula and Jamal Mosley for his part, too,
30:37will glean from this game tonight.
30:42Especially with the trending outcome.
30:44Yeah, I mean, I feel like, obviously, Jamal Mosley,
30:49you know, these are not the players they're going to see in the playoffs first round.
30:52So it's more on the Mazzula end.
30:55And you were talking about Joe Mazzula poking and prodding.
30:59I think that is in his DNA.
31:03That's a coach that likes to get into the octagon, folks,
31:06and work out via MMA style with guys bigger and stronger than him sometimes.
31:13So he's fearless in his own way.
31:16Sharman stepped out of bounds.
31:18It'll come back to Orlando with 9.09 to go.
31:20That's the 11th turnover for the Boston Celtics,
31:23which underscores another point, Doris, about this Boston team.
31:27Number one in the NBA this year.
31:29Internals.
31:30Correct.
31:31Part of that, you know, winning the margin possession battle.
31:35Bain back out to Suggs.
31:39Magic with four of its five starters in the ballgame.
31:42And natively, Banton.
31:47Sharman, one more to Harper.
31:49Walks almost into the three.
31:54And that's going to be a foul against Black.
31:578.38 to go.
31:59It's going to be his fourth personal foul.
32:03Second team foul against Orlando.
32:08Anthony Black coming back from an injury as well.
32:12What about the number of free throws taken here by the Boston Celtics?
32:16They are, is it 20 for 20?
32:19That's what it looks like.
32:20Wow.
32:25Sharman off the screen.
32:29Seven on the shot clock.
32:33Tonjay from deep.
32:35And Carter Jr. clears.
32:37Sharman making all the right reads, though.
32:39They get the switch to get the big on him,
32:41and then he just reads opposite corner.
32:43Got to have it, and Suggs provides it.
32:47Jalen Suggs knocks down the three ball to make it 101-88.
32:518.16 to play in Boston.
32:58B.A. on ESPN is presented all season long by State Farm.
33:02Like a good neighbor, State Farm is there.
33:06Mark Jones, your voice and singular style has been constant.
33:1136 straight years on college football.
33:14Your NBA journey began in 1990 with NBA Today.
33:19And yes, Mark Jones, that jumper, as you would say, is wet.
33:23You have captured the start of so many journeys over the years with your NBA draft coverage.
33:29That moves into the booth and the indelible moments, the Barack Obama interview.
33:35And yes, Mark Jones, it was for the culture and the stars who you covered.
33:41Kobe, Duncan, Durant, the first two games of the 2022 NBA Finals.
33:47The shot by LeBron in Game 3.
33:51The OGs, you know Mark Jones.
33:54The pillars of the sport.
33:56The stars of the next generation.
33:58The revolutionaries and the absolute giants.
34:02And for all of us, your colleagues, and there have been many, even the great Hubie Brown.
34:10Mark Jones, what we knew night by night was that your passion and your love for the NBA would shine
34:18through.
34:18And I thank you and I love you as a colleague.
34:20I know I love you like a sister, Doris Burke.
34:23I am so grateful to be able to take this journey with you and so many of my other wonderful
34:27colleagues at ESPN for 36 years.
34:31Yeah.
34:32I couldn't do anything and wouldn't do anything differently.
34:35A lifetime of consistent excellence.
34:37And we thank you, Mark Jones.
34:48Black from the wing.
34:51And Boston seemingly trending in the right direction still.
34:57Getting stops.
34:58Banton recently signed.
35:01Back out to Harper.
35:09A rare miss for Harper.
35:11And here's Bankera.
35:13Boston back defensively in transition.
35:15Sometimes it doesn't matter when you have a behemoth like Bankero coming down the pink.
35:20Yes, there are certain guys that you think of in transition that would be wise for you to not step
35:25in front.
35:2711-point advantage.
35:30Shireman thirsty.
35:32Picked up his dribble.
35:34Garza out to Walsh for three.
35:36Left it on the front rim but gets it back.
35:40Shireman put Carter on a flight but couldn't convert.
35:45And he'll get an easy one.
35:46Knocked wide at the other end.
35:48Shireman hustling to knock it away.
35:52I mean, just tremendous hustle by Baylor Shireman.
35:55You've got to make him earn it.
35:56I love that kind of sprint.
35:59The turnover doesn't matter.
36:01And this is what the Boston Celtics do exceptionally well.
36:04Number one, they don't turn it over.
36:06You've already mentioned that.
36:08But, you know, their ability to guard live ball turnovers and to do it, number one, infrequently
36:13because you don't want to be in that position.
36:15But then to not give up on that play.
36:19Great point, Dorison.
36:21Folks, news just in.
36:22Philadelphia defeating Milwaukee as expected.
36:24126-106.
36:26So if Orlando loses, should they fail to come back, they would descend into the eighth spot
36:34and play the first game of the play-in tournament on the road.
36:39They would still have two opportunities.
36:44Right.
36:45Yep, two opportunities.
36:46But you'd love to have the two opportunities at home as a seventh seed.
36:51But I think more importantly, and I think you're seeing this play out a little bit,
36:54it's like, we came on the broadcast tonight saying Orlando wasn't sure who they were
36:58because of the number of games missed and the lack of repetition for their core players.
37:06Garza off the elbow, guarded by Bain.
37:12Garza got it knocked away.
37:14And there's a foul in the ensuing action.
37:18That's going to be the fourth-team foul against Boston.
37:22So Orlando will go to the line on the next one, the third personal foul against Garza.
37:27They've already got it underneath double digits.
37:30Chance to make a move here.
37:32Orlando in the middle of a 7-0 mini sprint.
37:34I mean, you know who's enjoying this?
37:37I'm going to tell you the truth.
37:38Who's enjoying the game pressure being applied here by Orlando?
37:41Joe Mazzula.
37:42Because these guys have played great.
37:44But you know what he wants to see for these guys?
37:46The adversity that inevitably comes.
37:49Trying to close the sale.
37:50Shireman might have gotten away with a lock.
37:52He didn't get away with it.
37:54Turns it over.
37:55Got sped up just a little bit.
37:57That's just the 13th turnover of the ballgame for Boston.
38:00One above their league-leading season average.
38:07Walsh on Bancaro.
38:10Running their spread five.
38:12Suggs got his feet set.
38:14Banton with the loose ball rebound.
38:17In traffic.
38:18Got peeled.
38:19Suggs on the deck.
38:20Got it up to Black.
38:23Black on the drive.
38:24Got it.
38:25And the lead is down to seven.
38:27Black and he dynamic now.
38:29Mark Georgie talking the first half about the gigantic step up.
38:33before the injury sidelined him that he had made.
38:40Shireman on the handle.
38:41On to Garza.
38:44Shot clock at seven.
38:48Shireman.
38:48Shireman.
38:50Using the self-checkout line.
38:53But couldn't convert.
38:54And here's Suggs coming back the other way.
38:58Bain.
38:59Straight line.
39:00Defenders bouncing off of him.
39:02And he'll have two free throws.
39:05So they're trying to apply some pressure.
39:07Defense to offense by Orlando.
39:10Some pressure out front.
39:12Get on the floor.
39:13There's so much at stake.
39:14And then Anthony Black the attack.
39:17And Angel no sign of Franz Wagner and perhaps coming back into this basketball game.
39:23What are you seeing over there?
39:25Yeah.
39:25Just an observation from the last huddle.
39:27Doris.
39:28During that timeout.
39:29He didn't even get off the bench.
39:30So he remained on the bench with the team.
39:32As you can see, he has that left ankle and the left calf area wrapped and iced.
39:37Right now, you were talking about the laboring walk back to the bench.
39:41He has not moved since then, Doris.
39:44Wow, that's problematic beyond tonight.
39:47It's been that kind of year for the Orlando Magic.
39:51I mean, what is it?
39:5218 games, I believe, in total, that those guys have played together?
39:58Coming into the game tonight, there are three guys, just 19, I believe it was.
40:03Tonje with another three.
40:08He's got 13.
40:09As a team, the Celtics shooting 39% from deep.
40:13And Anthony Black flying charter.
40:16Wow.
40:17He is so dynamic.
40:20Seven-point lead.
40:21Black, a guy who had to play point guard when Jalen subs us out.
40:25I think it accelerated his development.
40:27You see the athleticism.
40:33Shireman pulls another three.
40:36Banton tipped it out to his teammate.
40:38Knocked away nicely by Black, who was on his backside.
40:42Bancaro raising up and got the layup.
40:45It's down to a five-point advantage for Boston.
40:47And Joe Mazzula calls a timeout.
40:51Well, he's 6'10", 250.
40:53He's only 23 years old.
40:55But Paulo Bancaro is a downhill driver you do not want to mess with.
41:01Turnover to transition.
41:03And we're within five.
41:09A live look in at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, courtesy of Yes Network.
41:14The Toronto Raptors about to win, barring a bigger turnaround than Paul on the road to Damascus.
41:20So that means, as we take a little bit of inventory, Doris, Orlando has no shot at the sixth seed
41:26in the East.
41:27Philadelphia already winning.
41:29And so, if Orlando loses this one with minutes to go, they would play Philadelphia in Philadelphia in the play
41:38-in tournament.
41:39That's the eighth seed.
41:40Right.
41:41And obviously, two chances still to get into the playoffs.
41:44But a little different scenario than having that first game at home.
41:48But this, to me, this last four minutes goes far beyond that.
41:51You know, confidence, momentum.
41:54The fact that, you know, you're up against it against this roster of the Boston Celtics.
42:01Bain couldn't convert the layup.
42:05Sharman, Garza open underneath.
42:07Easy.
42:08And that's inexcusable.
42:09I mean, with as much as at stake, to give up that kind of layup in this environment, that's a
42:15tough one to take.
42:16Lead back up to seven, three and a half minutes to go.
42:19Garza with 22 on 8 of 15 from the field.
42:22Defense!
42:24Bain.
42:25Defense!
42:26Defense!
42:29Defense!
42:29Defense!
42:29Preston against Walsh.
42:31Put it on a platter with the left and couldn't make the shot.
42:35Gordon Walsh, a good perimeter defender, showing off his defensive skills.
42:39Mark, that's where Jordan Walsh could be a game-changer for the Boston Celtics in a particular series.
42:45The length and ball pressure he can apply in certain matchups, you're thinking along the lines of perhaps a Jalen
42:52Brunson in the future.
42:55But the Boston Celtics
42:57Come out of the last break
42:58And young guys
43:01Facing game pressure
43:02Watch this
43:04Guys jogging up the court
43:06As the Boston Celtics
43:07Score on you
43:09Brutal
43:12And welcome back everyone
43:13After the Nuggets-Spurs game
43:16Coming up next
43:17Guys will break down the night
43:18The playoff picture
43:19And anything else

43:25With respect to the Orlando Magic
43:27And the Toronto Raptors
43:29Impacted as well
43:30If Orlando loses
43:33Toronto
43:35Will end up
43:36In the
43:38Five hole
43:40Just incredible that we come into
43:44This
43:44Last day of the regular season
43:46So much at stake
43:47We're going to take another break
43:49We'll be back on the other side
