02:28And you hear guys starting to talk about lost all grip all of a sudden.
02:32And then all of a sudden you see new guys start to come to the front

02:36The guys that have been going good go to the back or the middle of the pack
02:40and start struggling with their cars.
02:41So it is, this racetrack can be so finicky when you get all this rubber on the track
02:48and you have the traction compound around the bottom of the racetrack.
02:51Let me tell you somebody that's impressing me.
02:53It's this guy right here, Carson Josevar, running fourth, started tenth,
02:58just running a really good race right now.
03:01Right where you need to be, minding his own business, not a car around him,
03:05just logging laps.

03:10He got a lot of laps here Friday night.
03:12He was one of seven full-time cup drivers to run the truck race Friday night.
03:16And that was a record.

09:56Yeah, there's been a lot of talk on a lot of different radios about Denny handling this 11 car
10:01Because he was one of the first ones a number of laps ago to really move to the top in
10:06one and two
10:06And they've been saying if you're going to run the top, you've got to get in the top
10:10You can't be down in the middle
10:11You've got to be up in that black
10:13That's what Denny's been doing
10:14All right, Kyle Larson, he's got a battle on his hand right here
10:17He's trying to lap Austin Dillon
10:19And Michael McDowell
10:20And neither one are going to go quietly this close to the end of the stage
10:24And by the way, he's got Blaney right up his bumper
10:26Yeah, you've got 11, 10 laps left in this stage
10:29So you want to do everything that you can
10:31To not be the lucky dog
10:33Because when you're the lucky dog
10:34You line up at the tail end of everybody
10:37And so it puts you vulnerable to be a lap down
10:39So if you can keep yourself on this lead lap
10:42You can line up in front of the lap cars
10:44You can line up in front of all the penalty cars
10:46Give yourself a better chance of not going a lap down again
10:49There are some guys begging for this stage to be over with
10:53They are really slipping, sliding around

11:16The bumps get smoother through the middle of the corner
11:18You go around the bump on the exit of the corner
11:21So a lot of times you got to get a high enough
11:23To go around those bumps on that end of the track

11:28He's trying to get his lap back from Kyle Larson
11:35And that's the difference on those laps, right?
11:37He didn't pit, he last pitted on 147
11:42Whereas everybody else is 131
11:44That's the difference right there

11:50And I think he's just found somewhere that works for him on the racetrack
11:53We know that we're just we're going to keep going through these swings as the rubber gets laid down higher

17:57Yeah, the tracks changing big time I guarantee you there was some adjustments being made whether it be air pressure

18:03Trying to keep up with this racetrack could definitely change and speaking of changing a lot of positions changing back

18:12And uh 26 cars restarted on the lead lap
18:16And everybody fights for whatever they can get on new tires
18:19And cindrick is having trouble
18:22On the bottom of the racetrack finally moving up but not taking off very well at all for the two

18:30All the way back to this group after such a great qualifying effort has really struggled to
18:35Do anything during this race today?
18:38Lugano outside hosavar this going to be for fifth place
18:43And behind him ryan blaney who had the worst pit stop of the contenders larry
18:48Yeah, mike in eight races which includes today ryan blaney has lost a combined total of 86 spots on pit

18:56That's 30 more than anybody else. It took him 54 laps in stage two to overcome that issue at the
19:02end of stage one
19:04Tell you what there's reason the joy of the gano's racing him so hard watch this

19:19I think that hosavar was like well, we moved down and you pretty much moved down and stopped right here
19:23So i'm gonna i'm gonna feed the bumper to you and logan was like well

19:29I like and I agree with you and I think that speaks volumes about hosavar, right?
19:34He didn't back down from that three-time champion
19:37But that logano ain't gonna back down from him either. So where does that fall on the scale?

19:44To drive in a situation like that where you guys are you know

19:49Well, I think it's it's also two different generations right there, right?
19:53So logano has raced through a whole different period and and I think a lot of what happens today
19:58You expect to get run into I watch keelan race and the legend cars and all the different things
20:03All these kids have brought up to been brought up to bang bumpers and it doesn't even really bother them.

20:43That is not fun clint when when those things are snapping like that
20:47Trying to trying to catch him is nearly impossible in these gen seven cars. Well, he's and he's limping around
20:53on a wounded car
20:54I mean what speeding on pit road don't beat yourself you tell me that every single week
21:00And then without that he'd be right up there challenging for a win with his teammates top 15 battle here

21:13Yeah, and it seems like that six car he needs the really long runs to be able to
21:17To take advantage of of the handling that he has as we see ty gibbs right here

21:24Or ryan blaney has caught ty gibbs and just gone around him
21:30That'll move blaney up to fourth
21:44See chase elliott able to hold himself hold his position right there with brad using that top lane and as
21:50that top lane
21:51Gets more and more rubbered in and starts to go higher and higher up the racetrack
21:55It'll make it that much more difficult
21:57As the bottom lane starts to lose more and more grip through throughout the day because of the speed that
22:03that top lane will have
22:10But now instead of showing you a car commercial
22:13Toyota is going to use this time to stay here right on track in bristol we're going to go toyota
22:17all out
22:22Denny hamlin's worked his way up to second spot he's six tenths of a second behind kyle larson
22:27But at this moment, he's a tenth of a second quicker per lap than the leader
22:33Yeah, well denny denny has been quiet today, but
22:37Right now runs in second position. It wouldn't surprise me
22:40As everything starts to to flip around with this racetrack if we don't see
22:45We're going to have a little bit of ground on on larson with the adjustments and never know on pit

22:50And denny hamlin running second right now when I talked to chris dale his crew chief this morning
22:54He told me they weren't sure the direction they were going to need to go with the changes coming in
22:58here
22:59So they relied on bubba wallace that's denny hamlin's driver for 23 11
23:04He did the tire test here in november and although the temperatures were totally different
23:08It gave them a direction from setup now. We also told me we're skeptical about what we have today
23:14We don't know if it's going to be good
23:16Well as you guys can see they have figured it out and they've made great strides throughout this race
23:21That he has now he's lost a couple of tenths here. He's a second behind the leader right now ty
23:27gibbs just took over fourth place

23:32mike ty gibbs been doing a very nice job most of the day here after losing that track position early
23:37on
23:37has worked his way back forward i want to go to something he said before the last pit stop though
23:41about his car
23:42about 120 laps on those tires not of all which were green
23:45he said at the end my car was completely out of control and lost all grip at the end of
23:50that run
23:51now mind you this next run they may have to go just a little bit further than that
23:54it's not that the right rears are wearing out it's that they are heating up too much
23:58today and that's what's making it so slippery for so many of these guys
24:02ty gibbs just ran his fastest lap of the race here a lap and a half ago
24:08chase briscoe has been up as high as third but just in the last half dozen or so laps gave
24:14up
24:15two spots one to his teammate gibbs having a solid weekend and finally kevin right getting to stage
24:21points taking care of business with this 19 car this is what we expect out of chase briscoe
24:27well chase briscoe and his team i mean they they were a car to beat week in and week out
24:32last year and
24:32they've just had a lot of terrible things happening throughout the first part of this season but
24:38running good again today tyler reddick has fought hard he restarted 10th he's moved up to eighth
24:44been in a bunch of battles and for the most part has been up at the top of the racetrack
24:49as you'd
24:49expect well as you would expect and i think tyler reddick is driving with a little bit of a chip
24:54on
24:54his shoulder because of that miscommunication on what the pit road speed needed to be at the
24:59beginning of this race but they've done a nice job of putting themselves back in a position
25:03we talk about tyler reddick and his short track program needing to get better and today it looks
25:09like they've made a step in the right direction from a performance standpoint and that was toyota all out
25:17291 laps complete 209 to go kyle larson and denny hamlin combined have won six of the last ten races
25:24here three apiece and they finished one two here last april hey see ty gibbs right now going around the
25:34outside of of denny hamlin and clint i've noticed some 15 second laps start to pop back up on the
25:40board the last last few laps and you mentioned ty gibbs with his 1590 fast lap but this 54 car
25:49is
25:49rolling right now he's rolling and blaney's rolling i think blaney's going to have something to say about
25:56larson's win today if they can keep it together in the pits gibbs is extremely fast
26:02i'm he is going to get a win i wasn't on board with that in the off season when you
26:07popped off
26:08and said that but i'm on board with you buddy gibbs ty gibbs will be in victory lane this year
26:14and i think today's a great example of why they will be in victory lane you saw him at the
26:18beginning
26:18of the race he had a bad start to the race got themselves kind of shuffled back once again
26:24on one of those restarts earlier on but we didn't hear we weren't playing any of the radio on here
26:30with uh you know screaming and yelling or anything it was just like well it is what it is and
26:35look
26:35through the windshield as as his crew chief tyler allen has been preaching to him and they've kept
26:41it together and made adjustments on the car and done the things that they need to do and running third
26:46with a chance to win this race and with 200 laps to go he's doing a nice job at the
26:51throttle he eases
26:52into it he's not playing with it he just steadily gets wide open well kyle larson has now become the
26:58ninth driver to lead 2 000 plus laps at bristol here's his radio lady we're in cleanish air
27:07typically he was rolling the bottom lower and faster but we were finishing the corner better
27:15and that went out for a very similar lap time i know that's similar to what you've seen
27:19you know from your scene he keeps moving around his car just chases the bottom a little bit better
27:23than ours but you were still able to finish the corner well my gosh i mean absolute dominant it's
27:30so reminiscent of yesterday kevin and that o'reilly race didn't get the job done led a lot of laps you
27:38got to be thinking if you're him and this race team getting down to the end of this thing where's
27:42this
27:43left hook going to come from and when do we have to dodge and avoid it yeah and i think
27:47the best thing
27:47for him right now is you know if ryan blaney can stay in between him it gives him a if
27:52we have to pit
27:53again it gives him a spot in between the two to give a little more breathing room for his pit
27:56crew
27:57and for blaney it's like man i know i have a fast car but i'm gonna have to pit again
28:01well in the
28:02first stage it took blaney he had to overcome and it took him 54 laps to get back to second
28:08this time
28:08it took him 35 laps to go from seventh to second after a bad pit stop well he's got arguably
28:16the best
28:17car on the racetrack but they just keep putting themselves in in spots where they lose all that
28:23track position and it's i hate that we have to keep harping on it but it's they're facts clint
28:29he's finished top six blaney that is in the last three bristol races he was fourth here last september
28:36never had a win here not yet hamlin falling back into the clutches of hosavar here who's been half a
28:43tenth quicker every one of the last few laps and it looks like that car is becoming a little bit
28:48freer for for denny hamlin we talked about uh his handling issues a few few minutes ago but
28:53you can definitely start to see the back of that car moving around on the 11. you know and that's
28:59something that i don't remember seeing last year at this racetrack i think the new package the less
29:04downforce the more horsepower is is bringing that out and that's the design of it that's what we wanted to
29:10see

40:34tracks and tyler reddick knows that himself talked about it uh after after a couple of his wins that

41:17completely rubbered in but you can still make really good time the leaders are both on the bottom of
41:22the racetrack still making their their fast times well i go all the way back to pre-race when you

41:29and jamie mcmurray made your picks and there are the three of them all right in the top three spots
41:33yeah it's kind of like we look like we know what we're talking about sometimes clint
41:39i would agree oh it looks that way because last he's going to get squeezed he's going to be the

42:57up off the corner but that 12 as we get to the end of these races and we've heard it

43:01from the five car and cliff daniels just how well that 12 car will hunt that line through the corner

43:13out there leading it's hard to tell yourself keep up with this racetrack when they're dominating

47:01try to put as many lap cars in between you as you can in case that caution comes back out
47:07get in the pit road but ryan blaney definitely has the dominant car right now he's still running he'll
47:13click off click off some laps in the 15 second category every once in a while when he's in cleaner

47:49for the restarts and the only reason that the middle works on the restart is because they pick up all

48:03ryan blaney has the fastest lap of the race and he's had an interesting day he's been up
48:11and you see there how this slow pit stop uh dropped him down and he's recovered on two occasions to
48:18drive
48:18back up toward the front of the field and now took him 35 laps to get back up to second
48:23place
48:24after that and then into the lead past kyle larson larson's led more than half the laps 284
48:31blaney's been out in front they've each led five times blaney now for 70 laps this next time around
48:42michael mcdowell going one lap down that'll leave us 24 lead lap cars ricky stenhouse the last of those
48:52the last two years joey logano in fourth denny hamlin fifth working some traffic yeah and logano has done
48:56a great job this afternoon of what what i what i pointed out earlier was the struggle that he was
49:02having they qualified bad but as the champions in this sport do they put themselves in a position by
49:09keeping their keeping their head in the game and knowing what they had and you know he knew he didn't
49:15do a good job in qualifying yesterday now they put themselves in the top five consistently as as we've
49:19gone through the most of this day logano won here twice with the gen six car but this would only
49:28be
49:28be his second top ten in his last ten starts here
49:36see ryan blaney starting to go through some heavy lap traffic now eric jones who was involved in that
49:42last crash ross chastain look at that car wiggling around qualified qualified sixth and now getting ready
49:47to go a lap down clint we got some kyle larson radio on how blaney was able to catch him
49:57remember how the
49:59very first part of the race traffic brought him back to his stay in your rhythm don't change your game
50:04at all
50:10and that's exactly what cliff just said is what i saw as kevin was talking about
50:16blaney trying to get around chastain there for a lapper he's starting to wiggle around a little bit
50:22and if i'm the leader i'm starting to think about all right let's pace ourselves we know that i've got
50:27a huge lead on the five car larry just told us hey this thing could maybe go the end fuel
50:33mileage wise
50:34we could make it clear to the end of this thing so i need these tires to stay with me
50:39as long as i possibly can
50:43yeah and i you know i think as you talk about the 12 of blaney there now the problem he
50:49has is
50:50everybody is on the top of the racetrack so it takes a little bit longer to make these passes
50:55as the back of the race car is starting to come out of the racetrack and you're using more tire
51:00on the bottom of the racetrack but you are not going to pass them on the top of the racetrack
51:05when they
51:05start this top lane is the preferred groove so he has to work the bottom car works really good down
51:11there and still running fast laps but way harder on the right rear tire you know i know regan smith
51:18showed us earlier a set of tires that came off one of the cars that looked awfully good but you
51:23know
51:23i'm not sure fuel is the issue here i'm more about on this whole tire deal because these guys have
51:29got
51:29to go as i mentioned 180 laps the longest green flag run we've had is 82 laps now remember josh
51:36barry and
51:36chase elliott did go 150 laps i think asking 180 laps out of the tires is a lot i think
51:42it's too much too
51:43larry i mean looking back at the end of that stage too there was a lot of guys all over
51:48the place
51:49sixth place race right here tyler reddick's continuing his march toward the front had a chance at hosavar
51:57there couldn't uh couldn't close the deal and chase briscoe is now right there
52:03but you know what going back to to what clinton and larry were talking about if if they're full of
52:08fuel if somebody's full of fuel and can't make it to the end and the caution doesn't come out
52:12you know they're trying it absolutely follow the leaders you just follow the leader that's right
52:18riding along with chase briscoe in the 19 car right behind him as well looking over there at your board
52:25priest haven't heard anything out of that 60 car all day long in the top 10 holding a pretty wheel
52:31starting to make some hay when the money's on the line but that is that is so rfk in these
52:37days when you
52:38when you talk about the three of those cars they they just they figure out a way to put themselves

52:43the game by the end of the race whoa squeeze that 22 car up in the fence right there up

52:50luckily that didn't result in a wreck lagana recognized it and backed out of the gas and it's
52:57brought hosavar right to them

53:16and that's exactly what happened to kyle bush earlier but it resulted in a spin out
53:21that time he was able to save it so easy to do here right in front of your leader but

53:27clint as as you get going through turns three and four and you're trying to ride that bottom and all
53:32of a sudden that car bounces out of the racetrack coming up the banking
53:39and peter over corrected that had been right in your lap yep kyle had passed riley herbs two or
53:44three laps ago remember they got together back uh at lap 313 and brought out the caution
53:50past herbs but couldn't hold the position in front of him as he got loose there and uh and drop
53:56back to 26th
