00:02It is blast off with a good getaway fight to Leon. Gordon Shedd, he's going to get his nose in
00:07front at the end of Lacroix.
00:08Here comes Lloydie down the inside of Shedd and he's pulled it off.
00:13There is Ash Sutton on the outside line trying to gain ground but Ingram is up the inside line and
00:18Tom Ingram is ahead of him and that is absolutely vital.
00:21That's well and truly alive that car.
00:23It is.
00:23Dan Lloyd wins our first race of the day in the Quick Fitch British Touring Car Championship and a delighted
00:29team, a delighted driver as well.
00:34It is go with a good start made by Hale as you had anticipated the BMW.
00:39Ingram's already up into fourth place, he's made an absolute rocket ship start, look.
00:44Ingram is the race leader.
00:46It is going to be win number six of the season for Tom Ingram who dominates race two at Silverstone.
00:55So that's what happened earlier today but all eyes are now on the grid ahead of race three and this
01:01is how it looks.
01:02Your pole man is Sam Osborne for Napa Racing and then we've got Mikey Doble just behind, Daryl De Leon,
01:08Josh Cook, Aidan Moffat will be starting from fifth.
01:11Gordon Shedden in P6, Dan Lloyd, Charles Rainford, Aaron Taylor-Smith and Jake Hill close out the top ten.
01:18Where are our championship rivals?
01:21There they are, P11, Ash Sutton and just behind him for Team Virtue, Tom Ingram, Max Buckston, Nick Halstead, Chris
01:29Smiley, Senna Proctor, Dexter Patterson, Dan Rowbottom and Morgan and Tom Chilton close out the top 20.
01:37So that's how the drivers are going to line up on the grid.
01:39Let's quickly get into it.
01:41Paul, first of all, let's start off with pole position because with our pole man, the fact that Sam Osborne
01:47is at the front, this is a massive opportunity for him to score some really valuable points.
01:52And he's actually third at the moment in the Jack Sears Trophy.
01:55So a real opportunity.
01:57A real opportunity.
01:58Do you know the best bit of this, when I was looking at the tyres, he's the first person on
02:02soft.
02:02Obviously, he's on pole.
02:03The next person on the soft tyre is Ash Sutton, his teammate, who's back in 11th, I think.
02:09So there's a lot to decipher from that.
02:12He's got a real opportunity to get on this podium.
02:15He's had a podium before, but I'm really looking forward to see how Sam can do because this is the
02:19best year I've seen him driving in touring cars.
02:21Yeah, yeah.
02:21A real opportunity indeed.
02:23You mentioned Ash Sutton starting from P11 with his rival just behind in P12.
02:29This is really where Ash has to bring in the points and ultimately not just get more points than Tom,
02:37but really make a difference.
02:38There's now a 38 points deficit.
02:40And after today, only three races remain.
02:42So he's got to keep those hopes alive.
02:44Yeah.
02:45Listen, I wouldn't be surprised to see Ash Sutton win this race.
02:48I really wouldn't.
02:49It'll be difficult.
02:51He's on the soft tyre.
02:52Yeah.
02:52It's going to be very, very hard.
02:54Like you said, he needs to really be so far ahead of Tom that it makes a difference.
02:59The only thing that Tom's going to do on his medium tyre is just be like, where's Ash?
03:03That's all he's got to do and just not let him get too far away.
03:06But I just can't see it.
03:08Ingram's going to be strong still, but it's the boost as well.
03:11So the reverse grid race will be a classic.
03:13Yeah, it really will be.
03:14Yeah.
03:14I mean, you talk about that mentioning Tom Ingram.
03:17He's going to be strong.
03:18He has been absolutely superb on form yet again today.
03:22Yeah, standard stuff from Tom.
03:24Like David said in commentary, we've got to remember, he's had a little bit of a problem
03:29with the family and it's not been nice for him.
03:30But this racing was brilliant from him before.
03:33Absolutely nailing people down the inside of Brooklyn.
03:36Getting the job done early doors.
03:37Great first lap.
03:38On board with him again.
03:40That line that Tim Harvey said about the Gio Bernardi line, the old Italian driver who
03:45was absolutely phenomenal in British touring cars years ago.
03:48It was a great line.
03:49And it was getting him that speed down the straight, headlights ablaze, always showing
03:53his nose.
03:54This was an interesting one, passing Jake Hill down the straight.
03:56But I just think Jake had a little bit of an unstable car and he just had a left foot
04:01brake as he exited and that gave him the place.
04:04But Tom's been brilliant all year.
04:07And that's why I am so, you know, adamant that he's going to win this championship.
04:12He's just been unflappable.
04:13I think even the Napa guys have been like, well done.
04:15And, you know, it's a good effort.
04:17Yeah.
04:17Let's quickly touch upon the Napa guys, actually.
04:19Because Dan Rowbottom didn't have, well, luck was not on his side earlier.
04:23He was challenging for a P4.
04:25But his engine blue dropped him out of the points.
04:28And he's in the moment, he's challenging for third in the driver's championship.
04:33But that does actually drop him to fifth in the championship at the moment, having not
04:36got any points.
04:37It's a difficult one to swallow.
04:39Dan has driven the best I've ever seen him drive in this championship this year.
04:43And he's had some not very nice things happen to him in the last couple of rounds.
04:47It's a difficult one to swallow when it's like that.
04:49But listen, you know, this team is still a phenomenal force and they'll do everything
04:54they can to try and get him back on terms.
04:55Well, his teammate Dan Camish has had a nightmare as well this weekend.
04:58Yeah, it's been a tough one for them, that's for sure.
05:01Well, as you can see, and most likely here, the cars are heading out on track, which means
05:05we are shortly going to have round 27 of the QuickFit British Touring Car Championship.
05:12But all the action will unfold just after the break.
05:14See you then.
05:25Hello and welcome back to Silverstone for the last part of all the action today.
05:32The grid is getting busy, so let's go down to Louise Gifford and find out who she can
05:37manage to speak to.
05:38Thank you, Nikki.
05:39I'm actually still waiting for a few of the cars to arrive on the grid, but a perfect
05:43opportunity to have a well with Peter Jones, the boss of restart racing, who we grabbed
05:48a quick word with earlier on after Dan's fantastic victory in race one.
05:53But you have now provisionally, we always have to say provisionally until the end of
05:57the season, clinched the independent team's championship.
06:00It's a massive moment, isn't it?
06:03It's unbelievable.
06:04You set an objective and then you work so hard and then a day like today comes along.
06:10We win our first race and we clinch the championship.
06:14It's just unbelievable.
06:15This is the kind of day that you dream about, isn't it, when you're a team boss?
06:18Of course, of course.
06:20But being an independent is so hard.
06:24Anybody who's tried to do this as an independent just knows how hard it is.
06:28And I'd really like to pay tribute to Adam Weaver and the boys and girls at PMR because
06:33they've been through hell.
06:35Adam showed great leadership and brought them back.
06:38I mean, Mikey's still fighting like a warrior in the championship against us.
06:42So there's still plenty to play for and I wish them well.
06:45Well, a tribute to your guys and girls as well, because obviously it's your first season
06:49at the helm, really, of restart racing alongside Ben Taylor, you know, your drivers and Chris
06:54Smiley in particular putting in a massive, well, I say Chris in particular, Dan as well,
06:58but Chris very much involved in setting the team up.
07:01So just give us a word on the effort that everyone's put in this year.
07:05It's been a real family.
07:06I mean, Ben has delivered real results with his trackside team.
07:12Obviously, we've been doing the off track thing as well.
07:15Hospitality is full now.
07:17This time last year, we might have had 20 people in.
07:20We got 72 this weekend.
07:22It's just an amazing effort across the board.
07:26Well done.
07:26Great to see.
07:27Well done.
07:27Congratulations.
07:28Right.
07:28Let's dive in now and have a word with Sam Osborne.
07:31So starting this race from pole position, he's been here before, but let's see how he's
07:38feeling.
07:38And you can look at that face inside the car.
07:40How are the nerves holding out, Sam?
07:42It's quite daunting starting from the front, isn't it?
07:44Yeah, it's quite nice being able to see them lights.
07:48Race one hour having to sit up in the seat as high as I could just to see the top
07:52of him.
07:52So, yeah, it makes a change.
07:54You're in the pound seats though, aren't you?
07:56I mean, starting from pole position with the soft tyres on and, you know, a clear road
08:01ahead, it's time to make hay.
08:03Yeah, I mean, who could have predicted this, eh?
08:06I mean, every weekend's different.
08:08So, yeah, we just managed to get back into that top 12 and reverse grid.
08:13So, yeah, looking good.
08:14A good fight back into the top 12 as well because race one didn't go brilliantly for you, did
08:18it?
08:18No, yeah, it's one of them things.
08:20I mean, we got track limits, which we're a bit gutting.
08:24And with the new penalty, being 10 seconds, it really hurts.
08:29But one of them things, it's the rules of the game.
08:32So, yeah, it's one of them.
08:35Right, good stuff.
08:36Let's go down to Paul.
08:37He's a little bit further down the grid.
08:38Who have you got, Paul?
08:40Yes, I am, Lou.
08:41Thank you very much with Aaron Taylor-Smith.
08:44Aaron, how are you, boss?
08:45You're always happy.
08:46Turned a bit of a corner with this car.
08:48It's like night and day.
08:49What's the big difference?
08:51It's hard to say.
08:51Like, I feel like the first half of the year, we're betting in.
08:54Do you know what I mean?
08:54Like, I'm learning a new car, learning a new team.
08:57And they've been very patient with me, which is quite nice.
09:00But I feel like it's been great having Gordon and then having Josh coming back brought in
09:04a load of wealth of expertise.
09:06And it's just nice.
09:07Like, all you ever want to do, you'll know yourself.
09:08You just want to be in the thick of this.
09:09Do you know what I mean?
09:11So, it's still surreal for me to be doing this in the first place for as long as I had.
09:15So, it's just nice to be battling with the big boys and, yeah, putting on a show.
09:19What are you thinking from this one?
09:20Because there's not many people on soft, is there?
09:23But all the soft ones are at the back or on pole.
09:25Oh, we're going to win.
09:27I'll win every time.
09:28Every time I sit in this car, I think we're going to win.
09:29No, I feel like we have a chance.
09:31Do you know what's nice about racing at Silverstone?
09:33It comes down to racecraft.
09:34Do you know what I mean?
09:35So, if we can capitalise on the first few laps, you just never know where you'll end up.
09:39So, I'll get stuck in, see what we can do.
09:41End the weekend on a high and, yeah, put on a good show, I hope.
09:44Ash and Tom behind you.
09:46One of them's on the soft tyre and that's Ash.
09:48Are you thinking about that?
09:49Are you going to let them both through?
09:51I mean, you've got your own race to run, but what's the score?
09:53You're not going to have your indicators on, are you, like everyone else does?
09:55Oh, God, no.
09:56No, they'll have to work for this.
09:58If they're going to win, they're going to have to get by me.
09:59That's the way I look at it.
10:00Don't be wrong.
10:01Like, I would expect no inch from them and I certainly won't give them an inch.
10:05So, yeah, I'll have my wits about me, but at the same time, I've got to race them as hard
10:09as I'd race anyone.
10:10Like, they've done a fantastic job to get to this point in the season to be in that championship hunt.
10:14But at the end of the day, I'm here for me.
10:16As bad as it sounds, I want to win.
10:18And I'm telling you right now, I want to win more than they want to win.
10:22Are you thinking about next year?
10:23I know it's a difficult question to ask with a penultimate round, but it's got to be in your mind,
10:27isn't it now?
10:27It is.
10:28Like, I always look at it two to three years down the road.
10:31Like, this is my home.
10:32Like, I've tried Greener Pastures and GT Racing.
10:34Didn't enjoy it at all.
10:36The touring cars are the pinnacle of British motorsport.
10:39So, I'll categorically be here.
10:41And it's just, like, I feel like a bit of a prima donna saying this.
10:45I've signed about 15 NDAs in the last week alone.
10:47So, if I say too much, I'll get sued, which is never a good look, I find.
10:51But there's some great plans coming together.
10:53And I'm excited that it'll come out in the wash pretty soon.
10:57Good man.
10:57I did see on your social media, you were doing a bit of carting with your sponsors.
11:00How did that go?
11:01Did someone crash?
11:02So, oh, yeah, yeah.
11:03Like, I generally cause all the crashes.
11:05And anyone who does it with me realises that, like, I joke, oh, yeah.
11:08Like, I won't leave you as an inch.
11:10And I end up, like, you know when you're racing against, like, your sponsors and whatnot,
11:13I feel bad when I put them in the wall.
11:14But I want to win at that as much as I want to win at this.
11:17So, I take no prisoners.
11:19Well, top man.
11:20Good luck in this one, lad.
11:21I appreciate it.
11:22See you soon.
11:22Good man.
11:23Back to you, Lou.
11:25Down on the grid with Daryl De Leon.
11:27And as you can see behind me, frantic activity on the rear left wheel.
11:31I think we've got a broken drive shaft that we're dealing with here.
11:34I just had to go with Daryl's engineer to say, do you know how it happened?
11:37And he said, no, we're not sure.
11:39So, massive activity going on, as you can see, to try and get this car fixed.
11:44I'll just see if I can dive in for a quick word with Daryl.
11:48Daryl, how did it happen?
11:49Do we know?
11:51I was coming to the grid.
11:53And this never happened to me before.
11:55So, I assume it's this part that's gone.
11:57But it definitely feels like it's a drive shaft that's gone.
12:00So, the boys, I can hear them banging away.
12:03But I'm confident that they're going to do the best they can to get me going.
12:08Fingers crossed.
12:09I'll leave it to it.
12:09Right, let's just go over and grab a word with one more man I wanted to have a word with.
12:13In fact, Peter James was making reference to the PMR team earlier on.
12:17Sorry, I'm just watching my poor cameraman walking back.
12:19It was a good job, Rob.
12:20Managed to do that without bumping into anybody.
12:22So, yeah, let's dive in and grab a word with Mikey Doble, who's having...
12:26I mean, this is a fantastic opportunity.
12:30Your comeback in that last race was really quite something.
12:35Yeah, no, I enjoyed that one.
12:37The pressure was off a little bit from the back of the grid.
12:40We were running solidly in race one and then just had some contact, which damaged our car.
12:44So, yeah, we made some good progress in that one.
12:47Got the car into a bit of a better window and awarded ourselves with this front row start for the
12:53last race.
12:54I can't wait.
12:55Fantastic opportunity to capitalise and make good points.
12:57I was just talking to Peter Jones from Restart Racing and he was paying tribute to you and the team
13:01for the fact that despite all the travails and troubles you've had this season, you're just not giving up, are
13:06you?
13:07Well, we're not here to just go round.
13:09You know, we want to be as competitive as we can in the relatively short time we're going to have
13:13with this car.
13:14So, yeah, we've thrown the kitchen sink at it.
13:16And, you know, hopefully I can reward everyone that's put so much hard work and effort into this car with
13:21some sort of a trophy in this race.
13:23Where are you at with the car at the moment? How's it feeling?
13:26We've definitely made some progress with it this weekend.
13:29We're still not back to our former glory yet of where we were in the first half of the season.
13:33But, you know, I'm enjoying the challenge.
13:35I think, you know, we're all working so hard at the moment and, yeah, we're in the mix this weekend.
13:40Good stuff. That's exactly what we like to hear.
13:43Right, doors closed. People are leaving the grid.
13:45Time to go off for our final break.
13:47Join us for the last touring car race of the day in a few minutes.
13:54We arrived this morning with six races still to run.
13:57But in just half an hour, that number will be halved.
14:01And only three will remain before the trophies lifted.
14:04Now, though, it is round 27.
14:06Settle in and join David Addison and Tim Harvey for this pivotal race.
14:09And as you can see, Daryl De Leon in strife then.
14:12They haven't got this driveshaft drama sorted.
14:15And the car is trying to be taken into the pit lane.
14:18But I think now it has got stuck somehow on that little lip between the pit lane and the circuit.
14:22So this may delay the start a little bit.
14:25We'll have to wait and see.
14:26But what a way for his weekend, Tim, to completely unravel pole position to now not even presumably starting the
14:32third race.
14:33Yeah, and he'd have got up this morning thinking that he was going to have a good day.
14:36But that's how motor racing is and particularly the BTCC.
14:39But I'm sure the West Surrey boys, this time delay won't help them, actually.
14:43They need to get it in the pit lane as quick as possible to get that fixed and at least
14:47get him out at the back and hope for a safety car.
14:50And you never know.
14:50But very unfortunate.
14:52Everyone else is on their way.
14:53Now, earlier on in the day, you were pondering which Tom Ingram we might have.
14:57Gave a point, going for a win.
14:59Same question for Ash Sarsson.
15:00Or does he just have to win, come what may?
15:02Absolutely no choice now.
15:04I mean, his little gamble to go his second race on the medium tyre has worked out fine.
15:09He's now on the soft tyre and he's the second car back after his teammates on pole on the soft
15:16tyre.
15:16I'm sure that car's going to be very quick.
15:18But, of course, he doesn't have much boost as a result of the finishing positions in race two.
15:24So every car in front of him has actually got more laps with boost.
15:27And that's what is key to really making great progress.
15:30But he is clearly going to go forward.
15:32Elbows out and hope for a good result.
15:35And, of course, race wins.
15:37Tom Ingram race two.
15:38And Dan Lloyd, winner earlier on in the day.
15:41There is Dan making his way up towards Beckett.
15:45Let's try and have a quick word before we go racing.
15:47Dan, it's been a pretty good day, hasn't it?
15:50It's been all right.
15:51It's been okay.
15:52I'll take it.
15:55Yeah, amazing.
15:56Absolutely amazing.
15:58It's a really surreal feeling being on cloud nine.
16:02Every emotion happening and then being told, right, get in the car again, do it again.
16:07But, yeah, unbelievable for the team.
16:10Are you still thinking about that success or is it eyes forward and now concentrate purely on race three, for
16:15example?
16:16Put it out of your mind and go racing again.
16:18Yeah, it's all about race three now.
16:22My target in this race is double.
16:24Well, you know, thinking about the Independence Driver Championship, we've got the dream result today.
16:31Now I think it's time to think about the championship a little bit more.
16:35But eyes down and hopefully the rest comes with it.
16:40Fantastic.
16:40Well done on the win.
16:41Good luck in this one.
16:43Thanks, mate.
16:44So they get their two formation laps.
16:46Dan Lloyd, you can see, hard at work.
16:48And we'll see what he can do.
16:49A win and a six.
16:50Not a bad day at all after some very tough days in this year's championship.
16:53Let's look at the grid then before we go racing.
16:5522 laps are ahead of us and Sam Osborne is on pole position with Mikey Dover lining up second.
17:00It's Daryl De Leon who should have been third but he's now missing.
17:03Josh Cook is going to be fourth.
17:05Fifth on the grid, Aidan Moffat.
17:06Gordon Shedden next.
17:07Then it's Dan Lloyd starting next ahead of Charles Rainford.
17:11Aaron Taylor-Smith goes from ninth on the grid.
17:14Jake Hill will start tenth.
17:16Ash Saturn, eleventh, eighth and second his results today.
17:19Tom Ingram is next with a seventh and a win.
17:21You've got Max Buxton, thirteenth, ahead of Nick Halstead and Chris Smiley.
17:25Senna Proctor, sixteenth, ahead of Dexter Patterson.
17:27Dan Rowbottom will go from eighteenth.
17:29Adam Morgan, nineteenth.
17:30Tom Chilton, twentieth and Dan Camish, twenty-first.
17:32Some big names at the back of the grid.
17:35Nick Hamilton sadly missing once more after the dramas in race one.
17:39And Daryl De Leon's car, if it starts at all, is going to be from the pit lane.
17:43The real problem now is getting the car to the end of the pit lane so that he doesn't drop
17:47off the lead lap.
17:47Because, as we know, they're short laps.
17:49Yeah, that's very true.
17:51He loses a lap, that's game over for gaining positions.
17:54If he can just get out, and there's a lot.
17:57It just didn't.
17:58Sometimes these drive shaft changes go very quickly indeed.
18:02Yeah.
18:02And sometimes they don't.
18:03It should be easier on the rear wheel drive car.
18:06The disc and the hub are all on now.
18:08So it should just fairly quickly be a case of the wheel going on.
18:12But something's going on in that hub because the drive shaft's obviously already connected.
18:17In terms of boost, 12 laps for Osborne, Doble, De Leon if he gets into the race.
18:22Cook and Moffat, 11 for Shedden, 10 for Lloyd, 9 for Rainford, down to 5 for Tom Ingram.
18:27Osborne is on the softs, Sutton on the softs, Max Buxton, Nick Halstead on the soft tyre as well.
18:33And then further back, Dexter Patterson, Dan Rowbottom, Adam Morgan, Tom Chilton, Dan Camish.
18:37As it's worked out, the drivers that need to make progress are on the quick tyre to do it.
18:41Yeah, although it'd be very interesting to see what Ingram's pace is on this race with less boost available in
18:48terms of laps and back on the medium tyre.
18:51Because obviously he was absolutely ballistic in the race too with more boost and the soft tyre.
18:57Just be interesting to see what he can do.
18:59Well, indeed.
19:00So, 22 laps are in prospect then.
19:02The cars making their way up to the grid, ready for this final race of the day.
19:09And as Nicky was making the point a moment ago, after this there are just three more races.
19:14Tom Ingram came here as championship leader, has increased the championship lead.
19:18There's no guarantee that it's going to be a big lead after this.
19:21It's the British Touring Car Championship after all.
19:23Busy crowd on hand here, stretching around Woodcote towards Luffield.
19:27And in late afternoon sunshine, it's chilly, but at least it's bright and it's dry.
19:31A real change from Silverstone last year for touring car racing.
19:34They are ready for what should be a really lively race.
19:36The last few cars are slotting into position in front of us on the grid.
19:40Out of our window we can see Dexter Patterson and Dan Rowbottom.
19:43Behind are there the Team Virtue Hyundai's Adam Morgan, Tom Chilton's car, and then Dan Kamish lining up last.
19:50He's had a pretty forgettable day, but he might turn around, you never know.
19:53Let's see.
19:54It is now round 27 of the QuickFit British Touring Car Championship from Silverstone.
19:58And it is go, and it's a good getaway from the BMW of Avon Mollford that lines up fifth on
20:03the grid.
20:03And Charles Rainford is away rapidly up against the pit wall as Sam Osborne leads by about three lengths into
20:08Cobbs.
20:09The head of Mikey Doble, look at the gap he's got as the field files through one or two with
20:13their elbows out in the background.
20:14And there's a Napa 4 that has come to grief and goes wide.
20:17Was that Robotson, was that Kamish, certainly one badly delayed as the cars head up towards Beckett for the first
20:23time.
20:23Drama at Cobbs then.
20:24Yeah, but a good start by Sam Osborne is out onto the grass, there's further damage there.
20:30I was going to say, that's Dan Lloyd.
20:33So his weekend's unraveled quickly on this last race, but hats off to Sam Osborne.
20:37He's got that start nailed and driven a good first lap.
20:40And Mikey Doble going with him in second place then as Ash Sutton and Jake Hill are together coming down
20:45to the end of Wellington Strait.
20:47And Osborne is trying to build a bit of a gap on this opening lap.
20:50So the car that has not made it through the first sector, Nick Halstead, shown as having not got that
20:56far.
20:57There was another one badly delayed, as I say, which I thought was possibly Robotson.
21:00But as they come across the stripe at the end of lap one, it's Osborne in the lead.
21:03Doble is second.
21:04Aidan Moffin is third.
21:05John Cook is going through fourth.
21:07Fifth is Jake Hill.
21:08Sutton's already up to sixth ahead of Rainford.
21:10Ingram, Proctor.
21:11It was Robotson tenth, apologies.
21:13Eleventh is Shedham.
21:13And out of all of this, looking to see where Tom Ingram has got himself to.
21:19He's in eighth place then.
21:20He's in the mix.
21:21Yeah, in the mix indeed.
21:23But as Sutton is on the move, he's up five places to sixth position.
21:29I think the delayed Napa Ford was Dan Camish's car in 16th spot then.
21:34Of Osborne it is, trying to edge away from the rest of them.
21:37Doble second has got now Cook third and Moffat down to fourth.
21:40As Sutton goes past Hill at his favourite overtaking place on the brakes into Brooklands.
21:46Daryl De Leon has joined in.
21:48Nick Halstead is in the pit lane.
21:49As you look back at Jake Hill's car then.
21:52So Ash Sutton making progress forward.
21:54Josh Cook on a bit of a mission up to second now, clearing Mikey Doble.
21:56So could there be a Speedworks Toyota win on the cards here?
21:59The way that Cookie is charging along.
22:01He goes over the timing line now.
22:021.4 seconds back from Sam Osborne.
22:04Who remember has not ever had a touring car race win.
22:07It's a big ask with 20 laps to go to hang on in there.
22:09It is.
22:11Briefly, Sutton set the fastest lap there despite the overtake.
22:14But then it was beaten by Dan Camish.
22:17And there's a point for the fastest lap as well as Cook and then Doble lock up.
22:21And a 30 second stop-go penalty for Daryl De Leon.
22:25We've had him rejoin the race, or join the race late.
22:28But he's gone through a red light at pit exit apparently.
22:30That's for working on the car too late on the grid.
22:34So the cars come down then towards the left-hander of Brooklands.
22:39And as they do so, the Sam Osborne 4th leads the way.
22:43Cook 2nd then, trying to get away from Doble.
22:46And then Aidan Moffat in 4th place ahead of Sutton and Hill to round out the top 6.
22:51So this was into Beckett's.
22:54Aaron Taylor-Smith and Lloyd getting together on the exit just there.
22:59Looked like Aaron Taylor-Smith well into the back of Lloyd, wasn't it?
23:02Yeah.
23:03Absolutely speared him off.
23:04I think that'll be a conversation in the bus because Lloyd, who definitely won't be happy about that,
23:09didn't appear to do anything wrong.
23:10And he's a long way back in 19th place.
23:13He is still going, but a long way adrift of the pack as they go up now towards Beckett's.
23:18They're turning into the Heppin once more.
23:21Still maintaining that healthy lead though.
23:23Osborne over-cooked.
23:25And we'll keep an eye on what the gap is.
23:27It was a 2nd at the end of the last lap.
23:31Classes lap of the race, Adam Morgan, as now Moffat tries to clear Doble for 3rd place.
23:35Side by side they run down towards Brooklands.
23:39And all of this enabling Josh Cook to try to get away a little bit more.
23:43Doble trying to stay ahead and he's way up the road from the restart racing Hyundai.
23:47And this is Sutton's view then in 5th place.
23:49Coming out of Brooklands, he'd quite like those to get involved and trip themselves up ahead
23:54as long as he doesn't get involved in any of the tripping.
23:56Well, they're pretty much involved, aren't they?
23:58That battle for 2nd, Cook, Moffat and Doble, which definitely will help Sutton.
24:03He's bringing Hill with him.
24:05But, yeah, I think they will get him.
24:07Because, of course, if he can get past these three,
24:10it's going to be tough to ask Sam Osborne to potentially give up his first ever win.
24:15But I'm sure he'll do it as sliding up the inside of Doble goes Sutton.
24:20He is absolutely monstrous on the bakes.
24:23He's definitely the last of the late breakers on this grid, isn't he?
24:28So down they can then towards the left of Brooklands.
24:32Sutton then edging his way forward.
24:34Jake Hill chasing on behind as well.
24:36So as the cars come up towards Luffield, it is still Sam Osborne in the lead.
24:41But that margin is set to diminish.
24:42He's done the fastest lap.
24:43But Josh Cook, we know, is getting a little bit nearer on this lap.
24:47And up at Luffield, Gordon Shetton is run out wide.
24:50And there's more shuffling of the order.
24:51Look, as there Doble comes through with now Tom Ingram getting in on the act as well.
24:56So Mikey Doble has been shuffled back to 6th.
24:59And Ingram is through, in fact, on the inside.
25:02So Doble is now 7th.
25:03Sutton is 4th.
25:04Ingram is 6th.
25:05He's edging towards his nemesis.
25:07Yeah, he's just.
25:08And also what he's doing all the time is reducing that points loss that he's losing in this race.
25:14He's managed to overcome Sutton in the first two races.
25:17But reducing that potential points gap, the advantage he has, to a minimum over Sutton in this race.
25:25This was the exit of Ingram.
25:28Getting on the power nice and early.
25:30He's going to cut across the inside.
25:32Just superior straight line speed.
25:35Not sure if he's on the boost or not.
25:36But clearly an advantage there to drive up past the inside of Doble.
25:41So Ingram edging ever closer to the front.
25:44Now Josh Cook last time did the fastest lap of the race.
25:47And he's brought the gap down to just under 6 tenths of a second.
25:50It is game on for the race lead.
25:52Sam Osborne possibly on borrowed time now, given the way the Toyota is going.
25:56Sutton's up to 3rd now at the expense of Moffat.
25:58And that means that Hill 5th and Ingram up into 6th place.
26:01He's now got Rowbottom behind him.
26:03Now that's going to be the interesting one.
26:04If Rowbottom can get up with Ingram and take points away, that would help Sutton as well.
26:08Absolutely.
26:09Well, this is Sutton's absolutely nailed on for a potential win here, isn't he?
26:14But his team-mate's going to do everything he can to hold up Cook, I'm sure Osborne will.
26:20Remember, Osborne's on the soft tyre.
26:23Yeah, Cook on that medium.
26:24He's going very nicely at the moment.
26:26Sutton behind.
26:26Hasn't lapped yet as quickly as Cookie has.
26:28This is the replay of the Ford of Sutton getting ahead of Moffat's BMW down into Brooklyn.
26:32So it was 3 tenths of a second last time around between Osborne and Cook.
26:37And now Ingram is having to start fighting against Hill for 5th place in the knowledge that there Rowbottom is
26:42getting closer behind.
26:44Well, Hill's not going to do Ingram any favours for sure.
26:47Remember, Hill's right in this battle for 3rd.
26:49Look at the speed of that Hyundai.
26:52Absolutely flies just as they get up into sort of 4th, 5th gear.
26:56It absolutely flies down the straight there.
26:58Hill fighting back, trying to get an overlap on the inside.
27:01He's, as I said, he's fighting for 3rd place with Sutton, with Kamish and Rowbottom.
27:06Only 13 points between them.
27:08I think he'll have the inside.
27:10Ingram can't turn in.
27:11And Rowbottom slides up the inside as well.
27:15So Ingram gets shuffled out wide.
27:17Look at Rowbottom trying to clear both of them.
27:18And he's got past Ingram, so that's bad news for Tom in terms of points.
27:22Rowbottom on the attack now to try to get past Hill.
27:25The two of them fighting for 3rd place in the Championship.
27:27But Rowbottom also doing the team thing of taking points away from Ingram.
27:30And that helps Sutton.
27:31So now, as Hill hangs on to the place, Ingram's got to do it all over again.
27:35Good opportunistic move that by Rowbottom.
27:37And it's worked out.
27:38And look behind.
27:39Adam Morgan is also charging.
27:41He is up into 8th place, having started 19th on the grid.
27:45On the soft tyre again.
27:46Koundé on the soft tyre with boost, very quick indeed.
27:51Race leaders go by then.
27:52It is still Osborne ahead of Cook.
27:536 tenths of a second.
27:54The margins crept up again.
27:56Sutton is third.
27:57Now Sutton is one second behind Josh Cook.
28:00Osborne may think about letting Ash go by.
28:03Josh Cook won't.
28:04No, absolutely not.
28:06I mean, Osborne's maintaining that lead when he's using the boost.
28:10Fastest lap though for Sutton.
28:12And he's on the last lap again.
28:14And a point for it, which is all going to help.
28:16So, as the championship would stand, 31 points now between Tom Ingram and Ash Sutton.
28:23We're currently working lap number 9 as the cars dive down again towards Brooklands.
28:26There's that train of Hill ahead of Rowbottom, ahead of Ingram.
28:30And Camish edging his way forward as well up into 11th place.
28:34Yeah, remember they started, Camish and Rowbottom and Chilton all started at the back.
28:42The leaders are coming now through Woodcutt.
28:45This is on board though with Tom Ingram.
28:47And he is in 7th place.
28:49Not near enough to Rowbottom to make a move.
28:52But equally, Tom knows that banking points is important.
28:55Absolutely.
28:57And he knows also the third race can get a bit stressful and eventful.
29:01So, he needs to just keep his powder dry when all around him might be losing theirs.
29:06So, there coming out of Beckett's is the race lead battle where you've got Sam Osborne for the moment at
29:14any rate.
29:15Hanging on to that advantage.
29:16Being chased very hard indeed by Josh Cook.
29:18The gap is down a little bit to the eye as they come into the braking zone.
29:21Ash Sutton, remember, in 3rd place.
29:23Somehow they would like to be able to switch him into the race lead because you get an extra bonus
29:27point for that.
29:28But the stumbling block to any team strategy here is Josh Cook.
29:31He ain't going to play ball.
29:32He's in a different team.
29:33He's not in the championship hunt.
29:34And he would desperately like a race win.
29:37Yeah.
29:37Rowbottom though, look ahead there, look.
29:3918th to 6th so far.
29:41What a drive.
29:43Mega stuff, isn't it, as he comes up towards the line.
29:45And, of course, he's not finished yet because he's going to have a go at Jake Hill as they make
29:49that run down again towards Copps Corner.
29:51Jake on the medium tyre.
29:53Rowbottom on the soft.
29:54In terms of the soft runners, it's Osborne, Sutton and Rowbottom in order in the top three.
30:01Dan Kamish on Tom Chilton.
30:03Kamish another one, remember, on that soft tyre.
30:05Yeah, absolutely.
30:06Just in terms of another one of Kamish going past Doble.
30:11Just to give you who's got how much Toka turbo boost left.
30:17Osborne and Cook both have eight laps each.
30:19Whereas Sutton only has three.
30:22Moffat has six.
30:24Hill has four.
30:26Rowbottom only has three.
30:27So quite a difference between the front cars.
30:30But the front two with exactly the same.
30:32Eight laps each left.
30:33So right now it is still Sam Osborne who has never had a touring car race win, remember, up front.
30:39And although he's under pressure from Josh Cook, he is doing a good job of sort of withstanding that pressure,
30:44isn't he?
30:44He's hanging on to the advantage.
30:45He's not as yet making mistakes and running wide or bouncing over curbs.
30:50He's not incurring track limit warnings either.
30:52But Cook is getting ever more threatening behind him.
30:55And the move is imminent, I reckon, as they come up towards Beckett.
30:58It's Cook though there that stands on the brakes and scrabbles into the corner.
31:02Yeah, it's Cook that locks up in there quite often though.
31:05And this has always been a good track for Sam Osborne.
31:08Well, I mentioned it earlier.
31:09But last year he had three top ten finishes, which is good.
31:13And, you know, he's just always clicked with this circuit.
31:16And he's so far resisting this pressure from a really highly experienced race winning driver in the shape of Josh
31:24Cook with a Toyota Gazoo racing Corolla with its new M Sport engine in it.
31:31So, actually, he's doing a fantastic job.
31:34Sutton's dropped away a little bit in third.
31:36He has.
31:37You're right.
31:37Then it's Moffat, Hill and Rowbottom to round out the top six.
31:40So, yeah, Ash Sasson on that soft tyre is starting to wilt a little bit.
31:44The last lap that he did was a 58-2 as it gains a 57-6 at the leader, Sam
31:50Osborne.
31:51And they're on the same type of tyre.
31:52So, you wouldn't anticipate Sutton to be the quicker.
31:54It's just boost.
31:55That boost, a laps left, has gone down from 8 to 7.
31:58So, they lose boost on the last lap.
32:00But that's why they're quicker.
32:01He can't compete against them with less laps of boost.
32:04Because on boost, they're both quicker.
32:07And Sutton, remember, has got, from the result earlier on in the day, a limited amount.
32:11He's down to three laps worth of it.
32:13So, he's trying to preserve that to the very end.
32:16And he has still got ten laps to go.
32:18So, right now, he's going through the pain barrier.
32:21Yeah, absolutely.
32:22But they're always going to have more than him left, unfortunately.
32:26So, Sam Osborne and Josh Cook, both seven laps of boost available to them.
32:31Sutton third on three.
32:32Moffat's got six laps of boost.
32:34Three for Hill.
32:35Rowbottom, only one.
32:36So, he's got to be really savvy now as to when he uses that.
32:39Because if he uses it imminently, then he might be a sitting duck for anybody else that gets close.
32:45And he's under attack anyway.
32:46Look for Ingram.
32:47Now, Ingram has got four laps of boost left.
32:49And Rowbottom, only one.
32:51Well, Rowbottom's used it all to evolve from 18th on the grid.
32:55And that's the penalty.
32:56Now, he's had the joy of it.
32:59But now, he's got to tough the penalty.
33:01Because look how many cars are close behind here.
33:03Now, he's in danger just because of the total turbo boost that he hasn't got available of hemorrhaging a lot
33:09of places.
33:10A little bit of damage on the front of Rowbottom's forward as well as they drop down towards Brooklands once
33:15more.
33:15And Dan Kamish look on the attack against Adam Morgan.
33:18And Ingram to the outside of Robo as they drop into Brooklands.
33:20Couldn't go around the outside.
33:21Couldn't stay alongside either.
33:23That's a challenge up at Luffield.
33:24So, he's got to think again.
33:26Around the long, looping right of Luffield they come.
33:29Sam Osborne is about to come by and put 14 laps in the book.
33:32He's ticking them down.
33:33And the margin stretches again.
33:34He has used boost on that lap.
33:367 tenths the margin.
33:37But now Cook has got one more lap available than does Osborne.
33:41Yeah, but Rowbottom could be doing his teammate Sutton a big favour here by some aggressive defence.
33:47Shall we just call it that against Ingram?
33:51Very wide there.
33:52That's a definite one of your track limit infringements.
33:54But he's going to have to drive a very defensive race over Ingram.
33:58Where Ingram doesn't want to take too many chances against Rowbottom.
34:02True enough.
34:03The race leaders then weren't left.
34:05Number 15.
34:05Eight to go.
34:07Their game through is Adam Morgan.
34:08Who's had a really good run here up into eighth place.
34:11He's got Dan Kamish behind him.
34:12Who's also had a very good run up from last on the grid to ninth.
34:15And has not done yet.
34:16Top ten rounded out by Senna Proctor in another of those quick Team Virtue Hyundai's.
34:20Mikey Doble dropping back for second on the grid.
34:23He's now in 12th.
34:24But Doble is still leading the independence.
34:26Yeah, good drive.
34:28So as the leaders come out of Laffield then.
34:31It's Osborne to Cook.
34:32The gap right down again between the race leaders.
34:35Just two tenths of a second now as the cars dive through Copps' corner.
34:40Now Osborne's feeling the pressure.
34:42Now he's got Josh Cook right up behind him.
34:45Yeah, the rear of the car moving about as Osborne sends it to Copps.
34:49They both lock up a little bit going into Beckett.
34:53This is going to be a chance for Cook to have a go.
34:54I think on the inside.
34:56And he comes almost level with the forward as they hit the Wellington straight.
35:00But Sam Osborne using the boost tries to stay ahead.
35:03Josh Cook's just done an absolute best within the first sector.
35:05He's about to send it up the inside line coming into Brooklyn.
35:08Goes from one side of the road to the other.
35:09This is going to be a real test of Sam Osborne.
35:11And so far he's acquitting himself very well by defending.
35:15He's leading the race.
35:16He's never led for this long before.
35:19And Josh Cook there behind it has not on that lap been able to find a way by.
35:24So a good defensive lap by Osborne.
35:26In the meantime, Ash Sutton still third.
35:28Dropping away as he doesn't touch the boost.
35:31Well, I'm sure Sam Osborne's brother Jamie, who wasn't able to race here in the minis this weekend because of
35:38ill health,
35:39will be watching this on the edge of his seat, willing his brother to get this across the line.
35:44And Sam, you've got to do everything in your power to keep him behind.
35:48This is on board with Ingram, trying to get past Rowbottom.
35:51Remember, Rowbottom's almost out of boost.
35:54Ingram's got plenty.
35:55Yeah.
35:56All right across the inside there.
35:58And then cutting back and Rowbottom's going to lose that position.
36:02And Rowbottom is out of boost.
36:04He's used all of it now.
36:05So he's got nothing left by way of retaliation.
36:08And that's going to help Ingram, of course.
36:09So he's now gained a place back.
36:11And look, Rowbottom is a sitting duck for Adam Morgan.
36:14He's going to go around the outside.
36:15So with no extra boost, there's nothing really that Rowbottom can do.
36:19And he's also being given a penalty, Dan Rowbottom, of 10 seconds for track limit offences.
36:23So all of a sudden, everything's going wrong.
36:25He's run out of boost.
36:26He's losing places.
36:27And he's going to lose more with a 10-second penalty applied.
36:30That's going to put him behind a teammate, Dan Kamish, who, of course, is his rival for third place, along
36:37with Hill.
36:37Yeah, and both behind Hill as it stands anyway.
36:40Osborne to Cook as they went across the line.
36:428 tenths of a second.
36:44That was another lap of boost used by Osborne.
36:47Yeah, so Cook now has one lap more than Osborne.
36:50So on one lap at least, Osborne really going to have to vent.
36:53You can see the effectiveness.
36:55Look at the gap he's pulled out by using that boost on a lap that Cookie wasn't.
36:58And now Josh Cook using the boost to try to get back onto terms then.
37:02So down they come towards Brooklands.
37:04Still third is Ash Sutton, but Ingram up to six.
37:08So, okay, Ash will outscore.
37:10That's going to help.
37:10He'd like more cars between him and Ingram, of course.
37:14There's another penalty heading, and it's to Max Buxton.
37:16Ten seconds for track limits.
37:18Here is the race leader then.
37:20Sam Osborne comes up towards the line.
37:22We've had one first-time winner this season in Dan Lloyd winning race one, although he's won in previous years.
37:29But Sam Osborne has never won at all.
37:31So could he be a race winner?
37:33Well, he's going to have to make that car very wide.
37:35Four laps to go, and so far it's been a brilliant drive.
37:39It really has been a brilliant drive.
37:41I'm just holding my breath for him because, as you know, I love to see a first-time winner in
37:46the BTCC.
37:47It just absolutely is why every driver steps in this car, dreams of winning a race.
37:53We're not there yet, and I don't want to pre-empt it because Cookie is such a savvy operator, such
37:59a great driver.
38:00But certainly this is his best chance for Sam Osborne to pull it off.
38:04Now, they're back on equal boost.
38:06They're back on four laps, as it stands, four laps each.
38:09We'll see whether either of them have used it at the end of this next lap.
38:11As there you can see another big, big battle going on between Dan Rowbottom in the Napa forward.
38:17Tom Chilton gets ahead of him.
38:19Rowbottom gives the back of the car a little tickle, and that unsettles Chilton going up towards Luffield.
38:24And Robo goes back through.
38:25Well, that's what Rowbottom was talking about earlier,
38:28that he felt Ingram had done to him, wasn't it?
38:30Just giving him a little nudge and gone through on the inside.
38:33So he's obviously doing the same thing back.
38:36We've got three laps to go.
38:37We've got Sam Osborne in the lead.
38:38He's never had a win.
38:39He could be our 12th different winner of the season.
38:41Right there behind him is Josh Cook.
38:43But Sam Osborne so far is doing everything that he should be doing.
38:47Darrell De Leon moves to one side to get out of the way.
38:50After being in late, after getting his stop-go penalty, he's just after mileage here.
38:55So Sam Osborne goes through, and he's just done a personal best within the first sector that might suggest a
38:59little bit of boost use.
39:01And look, he's pulled away slightly from Josh Cook.
39:04But now we have got three laps to go, and they started this with three laps of boost.
39:07So they can run the boost to the end.
39:09Cook makes a mistake, and that may well be the get-out-of-jail-free car that Osborne needs.
39:13That was what Osborne, when looking in his mirror, as you do when you come out of Love Field, to
39:17judge the gap, will be absolutely elated to hear, or to see, sorry, because he's seen that gap extend.
39:24He has boost available for each of the remaining laps, as does Cook, but that gap's extended.
39:30So over the line, it was just over a second.
39:33Two laps to go.
39:35Now Sam Osborne comes up towards Beckett.
39:38He's a lap and a half away from a first-ever British Touring Car Championship win.
39:42It would be an amazing result for Sam, who's become a great character.
39:46Season after season after season, he's got better and better and better.
39:50And finally, it looks as though he's going to get his first proper podium.
39:54His one inherited podium was after somebody was excluded, and he may well be doing it on the top step.
39:58Down they come into Brooklands then.
39:59So Osborne will come to Love Field and then start the last lap.
40:02And of course, it's Pete Osborne, his father, who took over this team that was formerly Motorbase, and brought on
40:09board Napa.
40:10So for the family, it will be absolutely huge.
40:12I should imagine Pete Osborne has got everything crossed in the big lane.
40:16That's Jake Hill in replay, getting ahead of Aidan Moffat after a mistake, and Tom Ingram closing to try to
40:21get through as well.
40:22We're on the last lap, and the gap is 1.3 seconds.
40:25Josh Cook, all of a sudden, seems to have a car that's a little bit evil-handling.
40:28He didn't look all that compliant going into cops, and he's not being able to fight back.
40:31They are on equal boost.
40:33Right, Olly Collins, team manager, looks nervous.
40:35Everybody in the garage looks nervous.
40:37Dan can't focus at all.
40:38He's gone.
40:39Pete Osborne's had to walk away and have a lie down.
40:41A time penalty to Gordon Shedden, a time penalty to Senna Proctor for track limits.
40:46Sam Osborne, couple of corners to go.
40:48Fantastic.
40:49And, I mean, Cookie's struggling to get to the end.
40:51He's locked up at Beckett's virtually every lap.
40:53But this man is going to win his first ever BTCC race.
40:57Everybody in the paddock will be delighted for him.
41:00He's a lovely young man he is, and he's driven under the greatest of pressure.
41:04Sam Osborne comes out of La Field.
41:07He's never been on the podium.
41:08He's going to be on the top step because it's his first ever British Touring Car Championship win.
41:14Sam Osborne makes history.
41:15A first ever win in the championship for him.
41:17Sam Osborne wins race three at Silverstone,
41:20and he does so by 1.6 seconds from Josh Cook.
41:23Ash Sutton takes third.
41:24Fourth goes to Jake Hill.
41:26Tom Ingram is going to be through for fifth ahead of Aidan Moffat,
41:29and then seventh is Adam Morgan ahead of Chilton.
41:32Camish will get ninth and double tenth with penalties being applied.
41:36Ash Sutton outscores Tom Ingram only by a couple of places,
41:40but every little helps.
41:41But Sam Osborne wins the race, and what a drive.
41:44He is over the moon in a Sam Osborne sort of way
41:47because he's not the most demonstrative of characters.
41:50But he did not put a wheel out of line.
41:52That's just brilliant.
41:53Absolutely fantastic.
41:55That was his dad, Pete, celebrating Steve Richardson from Napa as well.
42:00It's a feel-good.
42:01And Ash Sutton comes up to congratulate him.
42:04It's such a close-knit team, all of them together.
42:07They'll all be absolutely delighted for him.
42:11I'm trying to remember whether Sam was a race winner in his earlier days of racing,
42:15but it's been a tough period in touring car racing.
42:19And, of course, in one of the plum drives, judged against some of the best in the business.
42:22And Sam has just quietly got on with the job and learnt and learnt and got faster and got faster.
42:27And it's all come together.
42:29A first-ever win in the championship for Sam Osborne rounds out round 27 from Josh Cook and Ash Sutton
42:36in third place.
42:38So the drivers then making their way up through Laffield to the pit lane.
42:45Round 27 of the championship falls to Sam Osborne with Josh Cook second and Ash Sutton in third.
42:50Jake Hill fourth, ahead of the championship leader, Tom Ingram.
42:53Sixth, Aidan Moffat, then Adam Morgan in seventh, ahead of Tom Chilton.
42:56Dan Camish, ninth.
42:58Good drive from him and Mikey Doble in tenth place.
43:02Aaron Taylor-Smith taking 11th, ahead of Charles Rainford.
43:04Senna Proctor, 13th.
43:06Dan Rowbottom and Dexter Patterson round out the point scorers ahead of Gordon Shedden.
43:09The recovering Dan Lloyd ahead of his team-mate Chris Smiley.
43:12Max Buxton, 19th and three laps down after his pit stops and penalties.
43:17Daryl De Leon.
43:18We also lost Nick Halstead early on in the race.
43:23So then, it's been a day more about Tom Ingram than Ash Sutton, perhaps in terms of the race results.
43:29But for the championship, we go to Brands Hatch with 33 points between them.
43:33It's going to be tough for Ash, but it's not an insurmountable deficit.
43:37Dan Camish is third, ahead of Jake Hill.
43:39Dan Rowbottom, fifth, ahead of Tom Chilton.
43:40Adam Morgan is seventh, ahead of Charles Rainford.
43:43With Aidan Moffat and Gordon Shedden rounding out that top ten in the championship.
43:50Well, we've been talking about the independence over the course of the day.
43:53Dan Lloyd now has a ten-point advantage there over Mikey Doble with Chris Smiley in third.
43:58Dexter Patterson fourth.
43:59Josh Cook fifth after his early season efforts for One Motorsport.
44:03Of course, now in the Toyota Gazoo ranks, no longer taking independent points.
44:11But as far as the Sam Osborne story is concerned, there's just one final bit to it.
44:17And that is to get safely through the post-race technical checks.
44:21And those are now done.
44:22He can make his way down towards the winner's area in Park Fairmay, where there will be a great reception
44:29as well.
44:30He is a good character, is Sam.
44:33And his father is at the front of the queue, ready to give him an enormous cheer.
44:39And quite right too, because that was, without doubt, the best we've ever seen Sam drive.
44:43He's out of the car.
44:44His father is there.
44:46First one to embrace him.
44:47And that is a huge result for Dad and Lad.
44:51They've done it.
44:52And Pete Osborne is absolutely over the moon.
44:56And so too is Sam, who might get a little bit emotional, I think, in all of that.
44:59There's a great reception from the engineers, from the team.
45:05And Sam Osborne is going to love every moment of being on that podium.
45:09He's going to be on the top step of it as well.
45:13The whole team, the whole family, all being able to join in the celebration.
45:16Still with his crash helmet on, as Sam tries to let this all sink in.
45:22He will eventually take his crash helmet off, and he'll do it while we're away for a break.
45:26Don't go away.
45:32In the reverse grid race, Sam Osborne started on pole on the sauce,
45:36but could he hold off the racing pack for 22 laps to take his first ever touring car win?
45:41Dan Lloyd went off after contact with Taylor Smith, who dropped down the order.
45:45But it was a stunning drive from Osborne.
45:48He maximized everything, making history, taking his first ever victory.
45:53A very special day for him and Napa Racing.
45:59So after that race, the third and final one of the weekend,
46:03this is how our championship standing currently look.
46:06Tom Ingram there on 419 points.
46:10Still a big gap between himself and Ash Sutton in second on 386.
46:14Kamish behind in third.
46:16Hill on 271 points.
46:18Also in that fight for the third spot is Rowbottom on 257.
46:23Chilton, Morgan, close out the rest.
46:27Let's go down to Lou, who is with a very, very happy Sam Osborne.
46:32An extremely happy Sam Osborne.
46:36Do you know what's been lovely?
46:37What you're seeing now is so many people coming up to congratulate Sam and his dad as well.
46:42I think half of the grid has been down here to say well done.
46:45And take it from me as well.
46:46I mean, fantastic result for you.
46:48But what's more, a fantastic drive.
46:50That was one to be really proud of.
46:52Yeah, I mean, the start of textbook, we got away.
46:54And then we just tried to manage the pace.
46:57And we just kept it going.
46:59I mean, honestly, I can't thank the team enough.
47:02I mean, these guys, the guys from Green Group, Napa Alliance, the guys at Horspo, everyone.
47:07They've just been so patient with us throughout the years.
47:11They've always been there.
47:12They've always got stuck in and grafted.
47:13And do you know what?
47:15Packing down Horspo tonight is going to be absolutely awesome.
47:18So, yeah.
47:19But you soaked up the pressure there, didn't you?
47:21I mean, Josh was giving you some.
47:25But you're absolutely mad.
47:26Look at that little hand shaking.
47:28Yeah, Josh really kept us honest there.
47:30And at one point, I thought, oh, he's honest.
47:34It's like probably three or four times he were on my bumper.
47:37I was like, just keep it cool.
47:40Keep it calm.
47:42Did you see that moment?
47:43I think it was about two, three laps to go.
47:45The rear got away from Josh a bit.
47:47What were you thinking then?
47:48Were you thinking, I've got a little bit of breathing space here?
47:50Yeah, yeah.
47:51Literally, I'd kept hold of the boost all the way through.
47:55And literally coming through Luffield.
48:00And I saw him lose the rear.
48:02And I was like, oh, this is my chance.
48:04Boost to the end.
48:08Oh, brilliant.
48:08Absolutely mega.
48:10Amazing.
48:10And I know your brother's been at home watching that one.
48:12He's going to enjoy that.
48:13Bragging rights come back your way now because he gives you grief, doesn't he?
48:16Oh, I always.
48:17But, you know, he's not been well this weekend.
48:18And it's gutting to see him.
48:21He's going to have his work cut out at Brands.
48:23But he's on the mend.
48:24That's the main thing.
48:25And his health comes before racing.
48:28So, yeah, this one's for you, baby bro.
48:31He would have enjoyed that one.
48:32Well done.
48:33Congratulations.
48:33More people to say well done.
48:35It's a lovely moment, isn't it?
48:37It's lovely to stand here and watch it.
48:38I'll tell you what.
48:40I threw everything at that.
48:42You did?
48:42You know, I tried mixing up the boost strategy.
48:46You know, but let's be honest, he did an incredible job and he fully deserves it.
48:50You know, the team put in so much hard work.
48:52So, huge well done to him.
48:54That was a perfect race.
48:55But, you know, I'm real grateful for the IAA Toyota Speedworks, guys.
48:59It's great to have that up here.
49:00It's been a long day.
49:01It's been tough.
49:02But, you know, the pace we had on the medium tyre there was really good.
49:04So, yeah, chuffed.
49:04And that's a relevant point.
49:05You were on the medium tyre as well.
49:07And it seemed like it, but the car was just getting a little bit loose in the last couple of
49:10laps.
49:11I was trying really hard.
49:13Yeah, you know, it's a normal thing that you get flat spots from turn two here.
49:17And I think I leant on it a little bit too much and it just gave up a few times.
49:20But, you know, I wasn't going to let him have it easy.
49:22So, I wanted to push hard and do the car crew, you know, really proud because they've worked so hard
49:25all weekend.
49:26But, yeah, pleased with that.
49:28It's a good way to finish off Silverstone.
49:29And, yeah, see how we're heading to the final round.
49:32Well done.
49:33Congratulations.
49:33And let's go and grab a word with our third place finisher, Ash.
49:38I mean, the smile on your face kind of says it all because that was not just a good result
49:44for you, but a fantastic result for the team as well.
49:46Yeah, a smile's not for my result.
49:47It's for the Osborne family.
49:48It's phenomenal.
49:49They live and breathe this sport.
49:50I just said off camera, Sam's here on a Wednesday setting things up for the team, getting things ready.
49:56Pete and the family, they live and breathe this sport.
49:59They're at a circuit every other weekend supporting other championships.
50:02So, it's fantastic to see Sam get the reward he deserves and obviously the same for the Osborne family.
50:08It's mega.
50:09But, yeah, our own result.
50:10I'm pleased with that.
50:11Pete free.
50:12I would have loved to have a sniff at the front, but we just didn't have the pace to keep
50:16with the guys.
50:18The deployment offset we had was just a little bit too much for us.
50:22So, yeah, we were at the same pace as them off deployment, but on deployment they just had that little
50:26bit more.
50:26So, Brands Haps coming up next, the finale head-to-head.
50:30What are your thoughts looking ahead to that one?
50:32What's your approach going to be to that one?
50:34I need a few more aces up my sleeve, unfortunately, for that one.
50:37But, look, we go there, we're going to give it our best shot.
50:39We need a bit of lady luck.
50:41I seem to remember that it being very much flipped back in 2023 or whatever year it was,
50:45and I'm now in that hunting game, but we've got a tough task ahead, but for sure not one I'm
50:52giving up on.
50:52But in some ways that's a nice position to be in because it just shackles off caution to the wind,
50:56isn't it?
50:57Yeah, exactly.
50:57We've just got to go and give it absolutely everything.
50:59A bit like we have this weekend, okay, some results haven't shown it, but, yeah, to go into Brands,
51:04but still with a shout, it's phenomenal.
51:06It's a great achievement for myself, Napa Race in the UK, when we've not been the strongest car on the
51:11track.
51:11So, let's see if we can do anything about it.
51:13It's tough.
51:13We will see you there.
51:14Yeah, back to you, Nicky.
51:15Pleased to talk about after that one.
51:20Lovely stuff.
51:21Thank you so much, guys.
51:22Where to start with that?
51:23I mean, first of all, it has to be a career first win.
51:27I mean, do you remember your first win, Tim?
51:28I do.
51:29It was a very long time ago.
51:31I won't say what uniform you were in, like John Watson.
51:36But, yeah, it was a long time ago.
51:37But I absolutely love to see a new touring car winner.
51:41You know, we saw Charles Rainford, Darrell De Leon earlier this year.
51:45And to see a guy like Sam Osborne, who's put his heart and soul into his racing, he's worked hard,
51:52he's been overshadowed by his teammates.
51:53But this was his moment to shine.
51:55And he did not put a foot wrong.
51:58I was thinking early on, how long can he hold on?
52:00But he absorbed the pressure from a fabulous driver like Josh Cook and did everything perfectly.
52:07I'm so pleased for him.
52:09He really did.
52:10And I think that's exactly it, isn't it?
52:12You know, when a driver puts in so much work and so much effort, it suddenly pays off.
52:17It's all worth it, isn't it, Dave?
52:18Yeah, I've raced Sam in Clios.
52:20And also when I was in touring cars, we always found each other sort of the same sort of bit
52:24of tarmac.
52:25And, you know, there's no secret that I would obviously be willing Josh on to win that race.
52:29But I cannot fault Sam.
52:31And towards the end, I thought, do you know what?
52:32He absolutely deserves this win because he didn't put a foot wrong.
52:36And, yes, he was on the soft tyre, but you've still got to drive the car you've got.
52:40And he was under pressure.
52:41He had, you know, the driver, Josh, caught him.
52:44Then he used his boost properly.
52:45It was a proper touring car win.
52:47And, yeah, super proud of him.
52:49And for his dad as well.
52:50Cheering at us across behind the camera there.
52:52Pete Osborne, what a legend.
52:53There are going to be some serious celebrations tonight, aren't there?
52:56Yeah, when they're packing down Ospo.
52:58Sam's still got a job to do, mate.
52:59Got to drive the truck home, I think.
53:01Well, that just shows what it's about.
53:03You know, you will never meet a lovelier family than the Osbournes.
53:06And I'm so happy to see.
53:08And Sam is as straight as the day is long.
53:10It's just great.
53:11It reminds me of when I got my first win.
53:13His emotion was brilliant.
53:14And he'll only go upwards from this.
53:16It's brilliant.
53:17Yeah, it is definitely going to be a day that he remembers for the rest of his life.
53:20And we were here to witness it, which is all very lovely as well.
53:23But we've got to turn our attention to Tom Ingram and Ash Sutton.
53:27I mean, Ash did pretty much everything he could in the hand that he was dealt.
53:32You know, starting from down in P11, P12, the two of them together, to finish on the podium was a
53:38good result.
53:38Do you think he'll reflect positively?
53:40He knew this was going to be a tough weekend.
53:43The car is not the best in a straight line here.
53:46It's a straight line circuit.
53:47It was always going to be difficult for him.
53:49I think Brands actually is a very 50-50 circuit.
53:52He's got a good chance there.
53:54The driver can make a difference, the car can make a difference, but he's done damage limitation.
53:59The game is still on when we go to Brands, and that's all that matters.
54:03That's exactly what was sort of asked of him.
54:05You know, we came into this weekend, the points gap was 32.
54:09It's now 33.
54:10So really, damage limitation.
54:12He's done the best he possibly could, really.
54:14He's what you'd say he's kept it alive.
54:16You know, he's taken it into the final round, and he knew this weekend was going to be tough for
54:20him.
54:20He said that at the early parts of the weekend.
54:22He knew it was going to be tough, but I think Ash really suits Brands GP.
54:26That's the kind of circuit he thrives at.
54:29Tom's going to be strong.
54:30He's been strong everywhere this season, but Ash is going to come out, elbows out, fighting.
54:34And I also think his teammates are now really putting in the part to help him as much as they
54:38can as well.
54:40Well, speaking of Tom Ingram, let's go down to Louise and catch up with both of them.
54:45Well, Tom, one more race weekend to go.
54:48Yes.
54:4933 points in the lead as we head to Brands.
54:51Nice place to be.
54:52Yeah, a lovely place to be.
54:55It's mad that we've had a weekend like we've had with Ash and I sort of, you know, being as,
55:00trying to get as much out of it as we can.
55:01And the points gap between the two of us has been one point over the whole event.
55:05So, lovely place.
55:07It's obviously nice to be going into the final weekend with a little bit of a points gap and a
55:13points cushion.
55:14By no means is it signed and sealed.
55:17Absolutely not.
55:18You know, that's one bad result.
55:20So, we cannot look at it as to say we just have to have a cruise, a cruisy weekend because
55:25we don't want that.
55:25It's got to be a pointsy weekend.
55:27And we've got to make sure we've executed it to perfection as well.
55:31So, we've had a stonker of a weekend, given we knew that we were going to be on the back
55:35foot coming into, you know, coming into it this weekend with our qualifying TCB.
55:40We've done kind of everything we needed to do and a little bit more.
55:43I think the race two win and getting fastest lap and everything was crucial.
55:46So, very, very pleased.
55:47It's a nice place to be.
55:48See you in a couple of weeks.
55:51Wow.
55:52So, what happened two weeks ago before the big grand finale?
55:56What is Tom Ingram going to be doing?
55:58I mean, it's kind of nerve wracking.
55:59I bet he just wants to get to that race if we can and get it over and done with.
56:02That's the usual thing for them, you know.
56:04They just want to get there and get out on track.
56:07And, yeah, I've got to say, just to go back on your point about Ash, I think Ash has done
56:11absolutely amazing this weekend.
56:13To only have that change to one point is brilliant because, like Tim said in comms, this place does not
56:18suit that car.
56:20At Brands, it's going to be Battle Royale and I'm really looking forward to it.
56:24It's really not a lot of points to go between them.
56:27But he will still need a slice of luck, no question.
56:30Absolutely, yeah.
56:31Yeah, I mean, looking at Brands, it is such a racer's track, isn't it?
56:34It does favour the brave, but looking at those two, they are both the bravest out there.
56:40Yeah, I think Tom summed it up there is that although he's got a 33-point lead, it's by no
56:45means done.
56:45He knows, and we've all seen it, how the final weekend goes with weather conditions and, you know, if you
56:52qualify bad in your mid-pack, it takes one bad result to switch this whole thing around and suddenly becomes
56:57game on for Ash.
56:58So, I'm super excited.
56:59Not only does England want to get there quickly, so do I.
57:02Me too, me too.
57:03And then we can get out of this wind and cold as well.
57:06Yeah, I'd better bring my rain jacket for Brands.
57:08Oh, dear.
57:08Right, well, before we do get into all of that, let's take a look at what is coming up on
57:12ITV.
57:13So, seven days of live snooker.
