00:00:13And so they're all safely off to Canada,

00:00:15and we can have a gander at the next race,

00:00:18which is the Porsche Sprint Challenge.

00:00:20Third race of their weekend.

00:00:22Two wins out of two for Tom Bradshaw,

00:00:24who's now on pole for round nine.

00:00:26There they go.

00:00:28And hopefully we won't see them again,

00:00:30especially through the windscreen of the Porsche Sprint Challenge runners.

00:00:35Jade Edwards and David Addison are watching this one.

00:00:38And no wildlife was hurt in the construction of that league.

00:00:41I have to say that if any animals get on circuit,

00:00:45I'm going to have to run out of this comms box

00:00:55Right, it is round nine of Porsche Sprint Challenge Great Britain, everybody.

00:00:59They had two races yesterday,

00:01:01and this is how they're going to line up then

00:01:03with the results of the second race,

00:01:05sorting out the grid here.

00:01:06Tom Bradshaw is on pole position.

00:01:08Sam Harvey with him at the front of the grid.

00:01:10There's a story attached to Tom Bradshaw.

00:01:12We'll come to that in a moment.

00:01:13Jacob Toff starts third,

00:01:14and Joe Marshall,

00:01:15he's fourth ahead of Dan Zilos and Oliver Meadows.

00:01:18Next up comes the very rapid Matt Kyle Henney,

00:01:21who has had, by his own admission,

00:01:23a random weekend with a couple of dramas.

00:01:25Toby Trice is next,

00:01:26ahead of Ben Mulrion and Ethan Hamilton.

00:01:28Oliver Cottom had an off in race one yesterday,

00:01:30but he is next on the grid.

00:01:31Dean Burden lines up alongside.

00:01:34Jason Baker switches from Club Sport to the RS Am category.

00:01:38Had a win yesterday.

00:01:39Good debut.

00:01:40Reece Summerfield is next,

00:01:41ahead of Amy Watts, Dan Lewis,

00:01:42Karim Sekat,

00:01:43and on row nine, Jonathan Moore.

00:01:46Lydia Wormsley,

00:01:47a double winner in class this year.

00:01:48Lines up with Hannah Chapman,

00:01:49five times a winner in her class.

00:01:51Newcomer Charlie Tuttle,

00:01:53and in his debut weekend,

00:01:54he also took a class win yesterday,

00:01:56ahead of Paul Porter,

00:01:57and then Katja Loggi on the grid.

00:01:59Right, let's do the Tom Bradshaw story first of all.

00:02:01He won on the road in race one yesterday,

00:02:03but was given a time penalty for a full start.

00:02:06He was just ever so slightly outside his grid markings,

00:02:09and so he got a 10-second penalty.

00:02:11That meant he dropped from the win to fifth.

00:02:12It gave the win to the local man,

00:02:14Joe Marshall,

00:02:15who comes from Crewe,

00:02:16not far away from Alton Park.

00:02:18So Tom Bradshaw,

00:02:19three times a winner,

00:02:20not four now,

00:02:21but a fifth and a win.

00:02:22Joe Marshall,

00:02:23a win and a fourth.

00:02:24Sam Harvey,

00:02:25who lines up on the front row of the grid,

00:02:2710th and second.

00:02:29We have within this,

00:02:30the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS,

00:02:36as well as the Club Sport.

00:02:37There are four categories,

00:02:38the RS Pro,

00:02:39the RS Am,

00:02:40and then the same Pro and Am format

00:02:41within the Club Sports.

00:02:43Everybody has the same base car

00:02:45within those classes.

00:02:46It's down to the team and the driver

00:02:47to get the best out of them,

00:02:48and that is Tom Bradshaw on pole position.

00:02:51And he has been very,

00:02:52very impressive this season.

00:02:54His father,

00:02:55John,

00:02:55was a very quick racer of single seaters,

00:02:57and then historic machinery in the northwest.

00:03:00Also on the front row of the grid,

00:03:01number 70,

00:03:02which is Sam Harvey,

00:03:04second in the Club Sport Pro category last year,

00:03:08returning to the series.

00:03:09There,

00:03:0927 is Jacob Tofts,

00:03:11who has had a second and a third so far this weekend.

00:03:13Jacob,

00:03:14like his dad,

00:03:15former Formula Ford racer,

00:03:17also quite a rapid e-sports racer.

00:03:18He was one of those real world drivers

00:03:20that took part in Porsche Carrera Cup GB e-sports

00:03:23during the winter months.

00:03:25And then Joe Marshall lining up fourth on the grid.

00:03:27Oliver Meadows is the driver with the onboard camera.

00:03:30He is sixth on the grid.

00:03:33And that's the run down towards Old Hall Corner.

00:03:35And Jade,

00:03:36it's not the widest of tracks,

00:03:37or at least it's made to look not very wide,

00:03:39given how wide modern day cars are.

00:03:41Yeah,

00:03:42exactly that.

00:03:42The track's not changed over the years,

00:03:44but the cars have got bigger,

00:03:45and we notice it every single time

00:03:46when they're side by side,

00:03:47especially,

00:03:48you know,

00:03:48if we ever watch GT racing,

00:03:49and when the touring cars are out,

00:03:50you can really see how narrow it is around here.

00:03:52So although the layout of the circuit

00:03:54does induce or encourage overtaking,

00:03:57because of the width issues of it,

00:03:59it does make it tricky,

00:04:00but it's also nice and easy to defend

00:04:01if you need to as well.

00:04:03Right.

00:04:03Green flag lap then is underway.

00:04:05Opportunity to get some warmth

00:04:06into the Michelin rubber

00:04:08on which they all run.

00:04:10Dan Zilos blasts away in the background.

00:04:11Tom Bradshaw then,

00:04:13heads into Old Hall Corner.

00:04:15Sam Harvey at the front of the grid.

00:04:17Tom Bradshaw,

00:04:17one of the most experienced drivers on the grid,

00:04:19whereas Sam only in his fourth season of racing

00:04:23came out of the Geneta GT5 series

00:04:25and then into the Porsche Sprint Challenge category

00:04:27last year in the Club Sport Pro.

00:04:29Steps up to the newer machinery for this season.

00:04:33Down through Cascades goes Tom Bradshaw then,

00:04:36who started off racing at Oldham Park

00:04:38in Northwest Formula 4 1600,

00:04:40single-seaters back in, what, 2006.

00:04:43Drove in Formula Parma Audi,

00:04:45one-week single-seater races for a time,

00:04:47had a Spelling Carrera Cup GB,

00:04:49and then a few years away

00:04:50before co-driving with his dad

00:04:52in historic sports car double-driver races

00:04:55and also won the Walter Hayes Trophy at Silverstone

00:04:57for Formula Forwards back in 2022.

00:05:00Fourth in the championship last year.

00:05:01He's very much the benchmark driver

00:05:03and he then is making that run

00:05:06down towards the Hislot chicane

00:05:09with Sam Harvey next in the queue.

00:05:12Jacob Toft is then third on the grid,

00:05:14ahead of Joe Marshall.

00:05:15Dan Zilos will start fifth,

00:05:16ahead of Oliver Meadows there.

00:05:19coming into Hislops.

00:05:20You've got Matt Kyle Henney behind,

00:05:22one of the drivers to beat,

00:05:24still leading the championship

00:05:25in the RS Am category,

00:05:26ahead of Toby Trice,

00:05:27who's a long way back,

00:05:28a third and an eighth this weekend,

00:05:30but it was yesterday

00:05:30where he dropped back in the pack

00:05:32that really did for Toby on this grid.

00:05:34So he's one to watch

00:05:35because Toby Trice is another driver

00:05:37who has been a race winner this year,

00:05:39indeed four times a race winner.

00:05:41Ben Mull-Ryan and Ethan Hamilton

00:05:43row six is Oliver Cotton and Dean Burden.

00:05:45Then you've got Jason Baker,

00:05:46Reece Summerfield next

00:05:47with Amy Watts

00:05:49on the eighth row ahead

00:05:51of Daniel Lewis.

00:05:52They come down towards Lodge Corner

00:05:54and then ready for the start of the race.

00:05:57And of course,

00:05:57if you're at the very back,

00:05:58you've got that really awkward start

00:05:59because you're down in dearly,

00:06:01you've got to climb up the other side of it

00:06:02and you can't really see the lights even.

00:06:04Yeah, absolutely.

00:06:05I think there's repeater lights here,

00:06:06but they're not always as easy to see.

00:06:07But like you say,

00:06:08the real challenge is the fact

00:06:09that you're starting on a hill.

00:06:10You want to be able to load the car up

00:06:12but high enough revs

00:06:13to manage that hill

00:06:15but also not bog down

00:06:16and not creep on the line as well.

00:06:18So it's really tricky.

00:06:20To the grid they can, Ben.

00:07:03They start that launch control system process.

00:07:06and a good getaway by Jacob Tofts.

00:07:09and a good start as well by Sam Harvey.

00:07:11He is up around the outside line there.

00:07:14as they dive down

00:07:15towards the right-hand

00:07:16remote corner for the first time.

00:07:18One and two,

00:07:18go a little bit wide.

00:07:19We've got one on the dirt

00:07:20that thankfully should be able to rejoin

00:07:22as not only does Tom Bradshaw

00:07:24lead the way

00:07:25but he's managed to get away

00:07:26by, what,

00:07:28he managed to get a massive launch

00:07:29at the start there

00:07:30and get away

00:07:30and this is the sort of thing

00:07:31you want on this lap one

00:07:33is to bridge a gap straight away.

00:07:35he's got already into the hairpin.

00:07:38trying to defend as best they can,

00:07:39not getting the optimum run out

00:07:40whereas the leader

00:07:41is away

00:08:04They are squabbling

00:08:05for class honours as well.

00:08:07in a battle amongst themselves

00:08:09am part of it

00:08:10and that's

00:08:11their main focus.

00:08:12It's not really

00:08:13the overall situation,

00:08:14it's winning the class

00:08:15and getting the points

00:08:15in that for the championship.

00:08:18Absolutely

00:08:18and because there's classes

00:08:19throughout this race

00:08:20there are some

00:08:20that are mixed in

00:08:21with the other classes

00:08:22and they have to be

00:08:22very careful

00:08:23while you're wanting

00:08:23to move forward

00:08:24but not sacrifice

00:08:25any pace

00:08:26or positions

00:08:27in their own class

00:08:28that they're battling for.

00:08:29Then you've got to be

00:08:30really aware,

00:08:30haven't you,

00:08:30of who you're racing with

00:08:31and whether it's a back

00:08:32or worth fighting I guess

00:08:33as at the end of lap number one

00:08:34Tom Bradshaw leads the way

00:08:36already 1.2 seconds

00:08:38to the good

00:08:38ahead of Sam Harvey

00:08:39and then Jacob Toft

00:08:40in third place.

00:08:41This is Oliver Meadows' view

00:08:42and he is in sixth place

00:08:44and he's leading his class.

00:08:45So in a sense,

00:08:46never mind about those ahead,

00:08:47he's got to defend

00:08:48from Matt Carlhenney

00:08:49who I think

00:08:49it's just run wide there

00:08:51coming out of Oldhall Corner

00:08:52you saw a running white car

00:08:53dropping back

00:08:54and losing more ground

00:08:55going into Cascades

00:08:56and that I fear

00:08:57is Matt Carlhenney.

00:09:01now also getting ahead of him

00:09:04so not a great start

00:09:06to the lap for Matt Carlhenney.

00:09:07Absolutely

00:09:08and one thing we have to factor in here

00:09:09is if you do get shoved wide

00:09:10by another driver

00:09:11and you're onto the grass

00:09:12because we've had that rain

00:09:13this morning

00:09:14there is even less grip

00:09:15on the grass

00:09:16than there normally is

00:09:16and you really,

00:09:17really,

00:09:18you know,

00:09:19you drop back straight away

00:09:20because that trip to the grass

00:09:22isn't like a normal

00:09:23sort of shoulder barge

00:09:24as a dry day would be.

00:09:26Yeah,

00:09:26you lose all that traction

00:09:27don't you

00:09:27and if you have a spin

00:09:28onto the grass

00:09:28you might struggle to get off

00:09:30if it's really wet on occasions.

00:09:31Katia Loggi has come into the pit lane

00:09:34This is out of the Meadows

00:09:35leading his class

00:09:37when he came out of Oldhall Corner

00:09:38and losing track position.

00:09:40That's a flying Toby Trice

00:09:42isn't it going through?

00:09:42He's looking good now.

00:09:44Yeah,

00:09:44absolutely

00:09:44and I think we sort of

00:09:45called that.

00:09:46We've got Katia in the pit lane here

00:09:48which is a shame.

00:09:49She's had a trickier weekend this time.

00:09:51We obviously had a sort of

00:09:52a six-week break from the last race

00:09:53and yeah,

00:09:54she struggled to get back into it

00:09:55and it's a shame to see her

00:09:56end her weekend in the pit lane.

00:09:58So Tom Bradshaw

00:09:58now,

00:09:59there he is,

00:10:00look,

00:10:00the race leader.

00:10:01He's 1.7 seconds clear.

00:10:04He's absolutely storming away.

00:10:07The next time we see

00:10:09the sprint challenge

00:10:09is mid-August at Knock Hill

00:10:11and he's very nearly there already.

00:10:12So far ahead is he?

00:10:13It's a monster advantage he's got.

00:10:15Harvey is second.

00:10:16Toft is third.

00:10:17Joe Marshall runs

00:10:19Zlos is fifth.

00:10:21the man to watch possibly.

00:10:22He's up into the top six

00:10:27fought back on that lap

00:10:28and just taken the place away.

00:10:36and like I say,

00:10:37there's more progress to be made.

00:10:39and they're all bunched up

00:10:40and what's happening at the hairpin

00:10:41is that you think that there's a move.

00:10:43You're sort of drawn in

00:10:44to making that move

00:10:45and there's a pinch point

00:10:45at the hairpin

00:10:46so these guys happen to be

00:10:47very switched on

00:10:48as to when they make that move

00:10:49as to not hinder themselves

00:10:51in the long run

00:10:51because if you get a bad exit

00:10:53you then lose it into the chicane.

00:10:54So what's happening is

00:10:55Bradshaw is getting away

00:10:56he's driving his perfect lap

00:10:57but also the cars behind him

00:10:59are battling

00:10:59which is making that deficit

00:11:00even bigger.

00:11:02So he wins sort of

00:11:03on two levels doesn't he?

00:11:04As you look there

00:11:05at Jacob Toft then

00:11:08down towards Lodge

00:11:09he dives out of the draft

00:11:10to have a look on the inside

00:11:42and what people often say

00:11:43to me like

00:11:43why does a home circuit

00:11:45make any difference

00:11:46to any other circuit

00:11:47because you're doing

00:11:47the same calendar

00:11:48as everyone else

00:11:49but what likely happens

00:11:50is he's been here

00:11:50since he was young

00:11:51watching every single race

00:11:52seeing where you can overtake

00:11:54seeing where you can be fast

00:11:55and it's the sort of circuit

00:11:56that your dad

00:11:56or your parents

00:11:57take you to

00:11:58for the first time

00:11:58for your first track day

00:11:59so you tend to have done

00:12:00more laps around your home track

00:12:02than anywhere else

00:12:02and it's paying dividends

00:12:04here for Tom Bradshaw

00:12:05and also the family

00:12:06are here

00:12:06and friends are here

00:12:07there's that little bit

00:12:08of extra support

00:12:08maybe extra pressure as well

00:12:10talking of pressure

00:13:11absolutely so we hear

00:13:12it's a good get away here

00:13:13he's got a car

00:13:14to his inside

00:13:15so he's probably

00:13:15having to think

00:13:16can I hang it around

00:13:17the outside here

00:13:18he gets nice and close

00:13:19giving him room

00:13:20and then yeah

00:13:21just runs a little bit

00:13:22wide onto the ring

00:13:22but that's not too bad

00:13:23on lap one

00:13:24they let you get away

00:13:24with that

00:13:25and then he's sort of

00:13:26onto the back

00:13:26of Dan Zlos

00:13:27there

00:13:27trying to make ground

00:13:29as best he can

00:13:30fairly sensible start

00:13:33there

00:13:33nice and relaxed

00:13:35didn't make any places

00:13:35didn't really lose any

00:13:36in terms of lap one

00:13:38so he should be

00:13:39fairly happy for that one

00:13:39and then down

00:13:40towards the hairpin

00:13:41Zlos goes to the

00:13:42outside ahead

00:13:43tries to go around

00:13:44the outside of Marshall

00:13:45up the inside

00:13:45goes Meadows

00:13:46and there's a little bit

00:13:48of rubbing maybe

00:13:49as they get the power

00:13:49down and the car

00:13:50sort of squirm

00:13:51the other side

00:13:51but a busy first half

00:13:53of the first lap

00:13:54for Oliver Meadows

00:13:54now while all that's

00:13:55been going on

00:13:56there is a 10 second

00:13:58penalty for a full start

00:13:59given to Oliver Cottom

00:14:01and also to Amy Wong

00:14:03so it's not affecting

00:14:04the situation up front

00:14:06but two drivers

00:14:07then penalised

00:14:08for a full start

00:14:09just being slightly

00:14:09over the grid markings

00:14:10again

00:14:11yeah so there's two ways

00:14:12you can obviously

00:14:12do a full start

00:14:13it's either out of position

00:14:14so you're over your line

00:14:15or too far to the side

00:14:16or you literally

00:14:17jump the start

00:14:18and go ahead of the light

00:14:19so yeah both of those

00:14:20drivers being caught out

00:14:21there and getting a penalty

00:14:23for that

00:14:24like you say

00:14:24it doesn't change

00:14:25the overall up front

00:14:26side of the race

00:14:26but in their own category

00:14:27and their own class

00:14:28it will be really detrimental

00:14:29absolutely right

00:14:31and one of those

00:14:32Oliver Cottom's car

00:14:33is there

00:14:35heading at the front

00:14:36of this little battle pack

00:14:37in the 1970 hippie

00:14:39Porsche livery

00:14:39going round the outside

00:14:41the Porsche 917

00:14:41at the time

00:14:42ran in that colour scheme

00:14:44it's a nice nod to the past

00:14:45it's always good to get

00:14:45these retro liveries

00:14:47into modern day Porsche racing

00:14:49Oliver Cottom is very busy

00:55:06the orange army and uh their helpers doing a great job of uh

00:55:11sorting the uh that's that's jelly he's had mechanical problems all weekend hasn't he

00:55:16um throughout practice and in the races he had a lot of a lot of mechanical issues this weekend

00:55:22misfires exhaust knocking on the bulkhead and

00:55:25fuel fuel injector problems all sorts he's had

00:55:28right temperature dropping as the wind picks up dan lloyd's car leaves the scene you're on hard tyres is this safety car good or bad

00:55:34it's actually good you can still keep keep temperature and generate temperature although

00:55:38it did look as though uh ingram and camish were faring pretty well at the start of that race

00:55:45they've dropped down to fourth and fifth um the real loser was smiley who's dropped down to 13th already

00:55:51remember he was third on the grid so it's just how quickly you can adapt to these tyres it is

00:55:57very difficult but let's uh have a quick word with matt neil because he is involved of course in restart

00:56:04racing and matt is with louise yeah as you uh as you say david um matt is working with uh with restart

00:56:09racing this season and matt what what was your view on that the incident well we're getting the same view

00:56:15as you really um from what we could see um he was it was such a shame because danny had a mega first

00:56:21race he was on the charge in the second one he was following josh up the hill and the the sort of

00:56:26the gap decreased he tried to avoid josh there's quite a high curb on the inside on the apex

00:56:31on top of the clay hill i think he just took too much of it and it bounced the car up but um

00:56:35thank goodness msv have got rectus cells up the top of there we should have more of those around the

00:56:39country and um probably saved us a car today they absolutely did their job didn't they and for dan

00:56:43as well i mean he just doesn't have much luck at this circuit does he he hasn't having much luck

00:56:47anywhere this season but yeah from his qualifying yesterday where he should have been top six he

00:56:51shouldn't be starting back there but you know it's such a shame we'll just get the car back see what

00:56:56we can do and then he's got all the work to do in the last one again well hopefully the good news

00:57:01is as you say that um hopefully he'll be out again in race three that he's okay so uh back to you

00:57:05guys louise thanks different take on it then yeah i mean matt folks he's that's the curve he's

00:57:11looking at yeah he thinks he went over that but that wouldn't normally spear the car off it would

00:57:16normally ride that car especially being front wheel drive is pulling itself over it but obviously matt's

00:57:21only seen a very quick view of it i think if he sees it again a couple of times he he might see a

00:57:26bit differently i think that the rear toe link definitely broke but whether that was as a result of

00:57:31a previous contact or whether it was the touching the tires at the chicane you don't know but uh i

00:57:37think that's what uh caused the off the team doing a great job of repairing those barriers yeah maybe

00:57:42one more lap possibly two but we are not too far away from getting things back underway so

00:57:47dan lloyd having been the star of race one and he's mighty charged past half the field

00:57:51now ends up with a wrecked car and we'll see whether he actually makes it out for race three as matt

00:57:55neil was just saying they won't know until they get the car back and you know time is ticking

00:57:59it's three o'clock now and the last race is not far after five o'clock is it the only good thing is if

00:58:04the race distance is reduced as we get over the uh allowed safety car laps that helps um ingram and

00:58:11camish because they won't fall as far back under the number of racing laps that they would have done

00:58:16with soft tire cars behind them yeah we're going to be at a maximum of 18 aren't we but all of the

00:58:21extra safety car laps eat into that uh extension you're quite right so uh down through dentons into

00:58:27cascades they come nick halstead after that spin by the way 23rd although that's really thanks to

00:58:32steven jelly having to make two pit stops in fact make that uh another one he's into the pits for a

00:58:38third time so steven jelly's race is just an absolute horror story for him at the minute

00:58:42right let's have another look at dan lloyd's demise

00:58:47i mean the only you know you could look at lots of positives about it here's another one just trying

00:58:57to see if he can't see if he clips the tires there but he's looking on the left hand side of josh

00:59:03unfortunately the camera just breaks up at the crucial moment

00:59:08but at least the car goes in sideways which spreads the load as much as possible

00:59:15oh bless him that's not nice to see

00:59:19that's a massive impact to go through dan lloyd he's a fit young guy but uh even so that's that's

00:59:28quite an impact not just for the car but for the body the adrenaline gets him out and then he's

00:59:32gonna feel decidedly sore after all of that so the uh barrier repair's almost done the clerk of

00:59:38the course ian watson is looking at these pictures he's uh looking at the cctv pictures around the

00:59:43circuit he'll be getting a report no doubt from the safety car team each time they each time they

00:59:48pass as well and so we can't be too far away from getting some things back underway but we are now on

00:59:54lap number nine so this goes back to tim's point that all of these laps now are starting to eat into

01:00:00the number of available racing laps for the drivers which is good for ingram and camish because they

01:00:04won't fall back as far as they would have done if we'd have a full green racing um uh laps

01:00:10so through old hall corner they turn and they're going just into old hall the toyota of finn leslie

01:00:21having a one-off outing this weekend he's running in 21st place after a driveshaft drama at the start of

01:00:26the opening race the safety car down through island band it's when the lights go out on top of the

01:00:32safety car that we know we're going to be ready for the resumption of the race but it's not just

01:00:37getting the barrier sorted then all those marshals and circuit vehicles need to get off the circuit as

01:00:41well so uh there is a vehicle access point in the opposite direction from where the incident was so

01:00:46they're not far away from that if the circuit vehicle can head the wrong way they'll need to do that

01:00:51once all the cars have gone past so lights are still on on the safety car i'm hearing race restart

01:00:56this lap so we'll see if the lights go out as the car car safety car goes up pretty hill not so far

01:01:02they should be going off any time now yeah track's clear track's clear so lights should go out straight

01:01:09as soon as possible so here they come then out of druids the next shot will show us the safety car

01:01:16lights are out we're going to go racing this time here they come then so as quick as possible we're going to

01:01:20go back racing it's up to ash saturn then to control the pace but he can't accelerate until he

01:01:25gets to the go board which is coming out of dear leap they all bunch up behind him and this offers a

01:01:30lifeline doesn't it to adam morgan and to tom chiltern chiltern's got five laps of boost in total morgan's

01:01:36got six to the four of saturn here they come nose to tail green flag ready we go racing once four and all to

01:01:43park over the line goes ash saturn to start that 10 out of 18 down to alderman hall corner forward

01:01:48hyundai hyundai hyundai hyundai forward bmw hyundai hyundai through they turn jake hill round the outside there

01:01:53look of damn camish and the bmw on the softer rubber should get through does get through and takes proctor with

01:02:00him proctor sliding from the inside pushes camish out wide that's also going to bring josh cook through and now we're on board with our taylor smith so camish has lost a lot of places on this restart hasn't been

01:02:12kind to him indeed so out of the hairpin then they come up towards hilltop saturn it is trying to break away once more

01:02:20they're going through you can see aaron taylor smith squabbling with dan camish 18 lap race this is lap 10 here they come down towards his lot so

01:02:27susson has the advantage at the moment as he goes right and goes left then right again into nick and brooke

01:02:32almost running out of real estate there was taylor smith but he just manages to sort himself out he's got down row bottom behind him who's cleared charles

01:02:38rainford on this lap and back on board taylor smith to you as they head up towards the exit of nicker brooke towards the bottom of clay hill and they're riding that curve you were talking about is susson but he's getting away isn't he on this lap from morgan

01:02:50he is he's used done a good restart remember he managed to hold off those good days in race one so he knows he's got enough pace to do it ingram will be delighted to be stuck in there still in fourth place especially with camish on comparable tires having been shuffled a long long way back in the pack just like us and that's a

01:03:08dam does not seem to like like the hard tire whereas others can adapt to it maybe a little bit better

01:03:14Sutton goes by the margin four tenths of a second at the start of the lap big big send up the inside there look and contact and way way off the road into the barrier goes the BMW

01:03:24a big hit more damage i'm afraid and that is charles rainford bmw that is out of the race that will be another safety car for sure because that car's in a dangerous place and there's barrier pairs

01:03:36yep this is further good news for ingram sometimes luck goes with you i'm sure that was gordon shedden trying to make his move on the inside because they were together as they crossed the line well charles rainford's

01:03:46BMW amazing this still goes but the barrier damage may be a concern to race control and the scrutineers won't like all that but look at that the rectus held dragged onto the runoff area let's see what happens next well my admiration for charles

01:03:58for charles rainford grows with every every race as he as he's put in channels his inner gilles wilder i've had an accident but i'm driving it anyway back to the pits but

01:04:08yes he won't be able to carry on with that flapping bumper but i'm sure the clerk of the course will also be concerned about the lack of safety barrier in that position

01:04:16yeah he's got four wheels it still runs that's charles rainford down towards lodge corner comes ash saturn once again now look ingram has dropped back and he's under attack from jake hill

01:04:26so ingram will go around old hall and see the barriers thinking right good come on need another safety car that will preserve my place but jake hill won't be able to make a move at old hall because that's going to be a yellow flag no overtaking zone so the frustration for hill is there and a yellow flag you can see in the background there on the outside is the rectus

01:04:44there is just about room to sort of go onto the grass and survive without clipping that and for the moment it doesn't look like we're going to have an interruption no i think they've decided they'll cover that off with just a yellow flag which is oh a little touch there from jake hill on the back of

01:04:58of uh ingram and that's purely and simply the difference in grip levels mid corner and uh ingram was going as fast as he could but uh uh hill underestimated just what that limit was because he had so much more grip himself

01:05:12himself and hill is taking proctor with him look as they come over the brow down again towards his lot it's still suss and morgan chilton absolutely together for the race lead there's a big big dive in the background coming

01:05:22from down rowbottom up the inside and he gains a place there at the expense of aaron taylor smith coming into his lot

01:05:28so the race order is shuffling all the while looking at the back of josh honda there heading up clay hill he's in seventh place

01:05:34so jake hill on a charge reigning champion and that turn one is actually one of the favorite overtaking places for the bmw by getting really good traction off this next corner lodge

01:05:46usually the bmw is able to dive up the inside into turn one but of course that's now impossible

01:05:52with the yellow flag so ingram could take his time through here knowing he can't be overtaken into turn one

01:05:58doing a grand job of hanging onto that place on that slower tire as dan cabbage was shuffled back into eighth place a lap or so ago the leaders go through there we've got six laps to go

01:06:08still suss and leading the way still chilton has that fastest lap of the race to his credit big gap between the top three and the rest

01:06:14replay here this is for the bmw of daryl de leon and you'll see it all kicking off maybe up the road let's see what he does he goes to the outside of james dawlin

01:06:22well that was a really nice part he used his uh momentum coming off old hall and uh went for the gap on the inside before they got to uh uh cascades that was a good move by

01:06:34yeah de leon

01:06:36it was indeed so that now uh moves him up the order oh that was rather less impressive into the back

01:06:42smoke out of the front

01:06:44as there hill has another look on the inside of ingram so daryl de leon for the moment battles on

01:06:50but maybe that car is not long for the race you can see the queue now is building behind ingram yeah ingram's driving a canny race he's just blocking where

01:06:58he needs to because hill's got proctor right behind him he's trying to attack and defend and every time

01:07:04ingram just slows him up a bit it puts him puts hill under pressure from proctor and compromising this is a very clever race by ingram

01:07:12it puts him it puts jake hill under pressure from another of tom ingram's teammates of course different color scheme but all out of the same stable at accelerate so yeah jake hill trying to get past one

01:07:22he's being attacked by another ash sutton though is still leading the way he's just gone across the line

01:07:28the only thing is if uh if hill can finally get past or open the inside door up to get inside

01:07:36ingram it could let alone could let three or four cars through at the same time

01:07:40same thing that happened to camish this is back on board with de leon behind sam osborne

01:07:44sam osborne these two have already had contact this weekend here right here at this point here

01:07:52and osborne lurky is trying to attack chris smiley who's on that harder tire so there's another queue building up

01:07:57then smiley ahead of osborne ahead of de leon and that graphically shows you the difference that the

01:08:03tire makes doesn't it smiley having been so quick in race one and now struggling on that harder slower rubber

01:08:09and daryl de leon is still fighting on isn't he despite the damage at the front of that car from

01:08:15earlier as jake hill dances through the chicane again at his locks well i was worried it was radiator

01:08:20coolant that was uh spraying out from that car looks like it's just pushed the bodywork onto the tire and

01:08:25it's a bit of tire run so de leon could carry on as once again hill spends a lap or two building up

01:08:32again to get back on the back of ingram only for something to happen to to oh oh oh that's a problem that's a

01:08:38problem for proctor's left front yeah so lots of smoke gets away with it or does he coming down

01:08:45towards lodge let's see is there smoke this time around yes there it is again that's an odd one that

01:08:53is an odd one because it wasn't rubbing all the time it wasn't rubbing to start with no and uh

01:08:58row bottom is flashing the lights at him trying to tell him he's got a problem

01:09:01and proctor smoke steam something coming out of the front of the car center proctor is hanging

01:09:11onto it and it's not consistent as you say scrutineers all want to look at that won't they yeah

01:09:16that's it's a strange one he's with weaving about just as if he knows is a problem trying to feel what

01:09:25it is but he's not hemorrhaging a lot of lap time is he no right so row bottom wants to get past

01:09:31and he's also trying to alert proctor to the fact that there's smoke coming off the car that is tom

01:09:36ingram look row bottom goes really on the attack and proctor is able to defense and the car still has

01:09:40the pace and he's had that smoky issue for the best part of the lap now yeah what it does mean of course

01:09:45though is it gets him off the turn of hill which means that hill can attack ingram without having

01:09:50proctor on the back of him row bottom on the attack then this is for six and seven

01:09:56our taylor smith's view here coming out of cascades camish ahead yeah so i'm not sure what's going to

01:10:02happen here because quite a big gap between them well what's going to happen is his teammate gordon

01:10:06shentley is going to come all the way around the outside obviously got a much better exit from

01:10:10uh cascades this is on board with de leon into the heaven who's up the right hand side is smiley who's

01:10:17been defending like crazy on those hard tires so that's going to put gordon sheddon now up into

01:10:2310th having started race 1 25th so he's chipped away over the course of the day row bottom has cleared

01:10:28proctor so has cook the car oh and off the road now goes aaron taylor smith that's another car in strife

01:10:35and that is i'm afraid to say that looks like the same place actually look lloyd went off oh i was

01:10:43thinking no it's not it's after the uh after the uh island head but i think it's pulled off on the

01:10:48right there by that marshall's post right that's why we've got yellow flags there so we have got two

01:10:54and a half laps to go and there's another car that's gone nick halstead i think has gone straight on at

01:10:58the escape road a lot happening all of a sudden here yeah all of a sudden you'd like this race to go on

01:11:03really feel cheated with those lost laps right so we're starting to lose cars dan lloyd down aaron taylor smith

01:11:11is out looks like nick halstead is out we've got proctor possibly on borrowed time with a smoky

01:11:15left front for reasons that we need to get to the bottom of and there is another yellow flag being

01:11:20waved on the run up the hill this is aaron taylor smith's view so maybe he is off in a similar place to

01:11:25where dan lloyd had his dramas because as he heads up clay hill there's that interference on the camera

01:11:30he goes up towards water tower and yeah it was the same place yeah so it was right first time but he

01:11:37sounded like he had an engine problem didn't he all the way up the hill yeah smoke out of the back

01:11:41was going to say he pulls off rather than spins off so the yellows at island bend but for nick halstead

01:11:46who i think is going straight on at the escape road it's all kicking off right and that rather

01:11:52sums up the mood doesn't it aaron just hides as best he can and a very hot and bothered toyota there yeah

01:11:57that looked like there was a i don't want to say there was an engine blow up but it looked like it could well

01:12:02have been so tough day for the local team toyota kazoo racing uk based not that far away near north

01:12:10which right down towards island bend again comes jake hill he's right on the back of tom ingram who has

01:12:15had a herculean task to hang on to that place yeah okay that safety car period helped him but even so

01:12:20look at the way that ingram has gone compared to dan camish or chris smiley who've fallen a bit further back

01:12:25and quite clearly the pace i mean for ingram to be able to hold off jake hill the champion on soft

01:12:32tires when he's on hards that shows just how good that cut car driver combination is

01:12:40that's going to have the other really worried because they should be able to walk past him

01:12:45and we understand that rain is falling at nicker brook now so just in case there wasn't enough going on the

01:12:51the response of rain falling on the far side of the circuit as ash sutton then leads adam morgan and

01:12:55top chiltern's dropped a long way back all of a sudden as they are about to come through to start the

01:12:59last lap ingram still fighting fighting fighting to the outside line goes jake hill and can't get the

01:13:06other cut can he the leader goes on to his last lap and jake hill comes off dearly about three lengths back

01:13:12well he was trying to set up a comeback wasn't he but you saw at the end of the braking for hill

01:13:17his car was sliding about almost like there was rain falling there but it may have just been that

01:13:21he got out on the marbles and didn't quite have the grip he wanted to cut back to the inside and again

01:13:27that's just giving ingram a little bit of a gap final lap sutton leads morgan leads children leads ingram

01:13:34and remember sutton is looking for win number four of the season in the nappa racing uk ford there is

01:13:40championship rival tom ingram banking points but now you can understand why sutton

01:13:45tactically dropped back in race one he got points for falls not third but he's been able to then

01:13:51power forward for a win on the quicker time yeah but unfortunately for him not for ingram but

01:13:55unfortunately for him ingram hasn't fallen back as far as he would have expected we were all thinking

01:14:00ingram we're doing well to stay in the top 10 in fact that was ingram's own prediction he's done much

01:14:05better than that he's in fourth and of course we've got to remember the final position for the reverse grid

01:14:10from 6th to 10th or 12th sorry row bottom cook proctor camish shedden and doble

01:14:19so down towards lodge corner comes ash sutton he is on target then for a fourth victory of the season

01:14:26he makes the run now up towards the timing line it's a win for ash sutton at alton park the four

01:14:31crosses the line to win with adam morgan taking second and tom chiltern comes home in third after that

01:14:38it is just ingram being able to hang on in there as he takes fourth ahead of jake hill and dan robottom

01:14:44coming home in sixth from 14th on the grid good drive ahead of josh cook center proctor

01:14:49gordon shedden ninth and that is also his best result of the season so well done to flash

01:14:55with dan camish taking at 10th place but that 46th career win for ash saturn

01:15:03a brilliant drive and so much of that as you see the rain now falling on the camera lens down on the

01:15:07far part of the circuit so much of that was done early on with that demon style to get a bit like

01:15:11thruxton it was it was an excellent first uh lap and we we had him down to win but that's in timely

01:15:17fashion as the rain arrives if this rain stays and we said it's a short turnaround before race three

01:15:23then ash saturn won't have to race on that hard time well right now he can celebrate a win he can

01:15:30think about points he can wave to the fans and to the marshals for the track side and ash saturn not

01:15:37only wins but he also got the fastest lap of the race on lap number 14 so that's another point good

01:15:43for the championship and of course he gets the lap leader point as well so another bank rate of points

01:15:50for ash saturn a quick look further down the order at one or two others chris smiley 14th on the hard

01:15:57tire daryl de leon was 15th and fin leslie in what you might call his first proper race because he

01:16:02started at the same time as everybody else on that one uh 17th okay not in the points but he's got a

01:16:07race under his belt yeah he's got a race under his belt he's learned a lot i'm sure and uh you know he's

01:16:13held his end up very well indeed so ash saturn then the race winner there is uh fin leslie

01:16:21guesting this weekend out of tcr uk into the bccc for toyota kazoo racing uk ronan pearson sadly

01:16:28has had to stand down and uh fin leslie for this weekend joins the team ash saturn the winner of

01:16:35round 14 of the quick fit british touring car championship from adam morgan tom chilton third

01:16:40ahead of tom ingram jake hill fifth then dan rowbottom and it's an independent win this time

01:16:44for seventh placed josh cook senna proctor eighth ahead of gordon sheddon's best result of the year

01:16:49top 10 rounded out by dan camish mikey doble taking 11th ahead of sam osborne then james dawlin

01:16:56chris smiley and the last point scorer is daryl de leon aiden moffat came next just ahead of fin

01:17:02leslie then mack tall clearing teammate and rival dexter patterson and 20th was nick hamilton

01:17:0721st charles rainford after his spin into the barriers at old hall we lost aaron taylor smith we

01:17:13lost nick halstead steven jelly was in and out of the pits with problems and we lost dan lloyd in

01:17:17spectacular fashion earlier on championship ash saturn is in charge seven points the margin

01:17:25but look at the gap that those two have now built over third place dan camish it's a massive 65 points

01:17:31splitting ingram from camish with rowbottom fourth and hill fifth morgan is next ahead of chiltern cook

01:17:37smiley and rainford so it is a race win for ash sutton and he is also now the championship leader

01:17:46and we'll come back to alton park for more reflection on a really interesting race after the break

01:17:56round 14 here at alton park from pole position on hard tyres tom ingram led for a lap but then passed when

01:18:02saturn and morgan on softs and the pattern of the race was set dan lloyd offered druids had a heavy

01:18:10heavy impact thankfully he was okay but the safety car required spectacular moment on the restart charles

01:18:16rainford was another into the barriers ingram now in fourth defending brilliantly despite jake hill's

01:18:22pressure but this was the win that ash sutton was anticipating from morgan and chiltern but ingram's

01:18:28force may be the main headline let's go down to louise well well done ash the plan's working so far

01:18:33you've even got the rain but uh you just need it to carry on now don't you now we do because that

01:18:37means we don't have to use the hard tire so yeah fingers crossed the forecast before the race was

01:18:42saying it was gonna gonna rain for race three so fingers crossed that's still the case and it hasn't

01:18:46changed but i was hoping that that rain then was gonna come in a bit sooner and and have its effect

01:18:52in the race and make it a bit harder for the cars and hard tires i mean quite a tricky one for you to

01:18:55manage with the safety cars and and possibly you didn't get away as much as you would have liked

01:19:00to have done no i mean there's an element of managing the gap like you said the safety cars coming out

01:19:04and stuff like that there's quite a few offs and a few incidents on track a lot of debris so there's

01:19:08almost a point of managing the gap and making sure we don't pick up any punches or do anything silly

01:19:13and we kept the hybrid for the end because i know that the hind eyes are particularly quick this weekend

01:19:18so yeah we needed to ensure we had something there to to defend that off okay well i'll let you get

01:19:22away now and do the reverse grid jaw with steve let's bring in adam what a great result another

01:19:27another p2 second of the season i know yeah we um with the guys on the hard tires i knew it was all

01:19:32about get going and get ahead of them as quick as possible because they're going to be defending for

01:19:36their lives and we've got a mega launch and positioned it pretty well through turn one and uh at the hair

01:19:42pin and came out in p2 i'm like right let's try and catch ash but uh you know overall i think you have the

01:19:48ultimate pace uh there's little bits where i know i you know we can improve to find that pace but

01:19:53yeah mega result a tough for the team to have tom on the podium as well uh double podium just really

01:19:58happy yeah well done and let's bring in tom at this point for for a quick word um as adam's just

01:20:03said great result for the team you wanted that podium didn't you and you got it absolutely yeah

01:20:07it was all on the start really you know i i i did the good start but smiles on the hards and

01:20:12defending up the inside and i had my team out on the outside so you got to go two by two and then he

01:20:17won the next corner up the inside and it was nice of me and adam had a couple of scraps in race one

01:20:21and race two together but um you know a massive thank you to the team they worked really hard on

01:20:25the car and to my teammate tom because he actually he let me out breaking quite nicely into cascades

01:20:30it was it was a nice move i really enjoyed it and all the way around cascades all the g-force i'm

01:20:34like cheers hand in the air while getting on the curve um so uh yeah it was nice to be on the tail of

01:20:40of both both adam and and ash but i didn't have as much hybrid left at the end so well done well done

01:20:46right let's go uh over to uh steve now and see where everyone's starting the final race here

01:20:52hi yeah reverse grid time and ash sutton well done and welcome back to the reverse grid draw

01:20:57this is my last and uh to be honest i've never really understood how it works but uh um you had

01:21:03a plan out there that absolutely worked yeah for sure we uh obviously the plan there was to sacrifice

01:21:09a couple of points in that in that first race fall back to p4 and so we don't have to use a hard

01:21:13tire then and it paid off we'd come away with a win which was ultimately the old maximizer points

01:21:17there get the fastest lap and now we just got to pray there's no there's going to be no rain for

01:21:21race three and no rain for race well sorry rain for a race apologies and then yeah making sure there's

01:21:27a small number in there which is little more than an hour away and this track is taking a little while

01:21:31to dry when it does rain it seems to be the case track temps down obviously ambient temps so yeah

01:21:36fingers crossed it is wet and we don't have to use a hard time okay let's get straight into the reverse

01:21:40grid draw as everybody knows we've got uh numbers in the bowl here that refer to the drivers who

01:21:45finished six through twelve uh so let's remind you that uh number six is dan robot and number seven is
