00:00:07Thanks very much, Nicky. Looking forward to our latest F4 race.
00:00:11I was doing the maths, I was trying to work out whether
00:00:13Fionn McLaughlin could wrap things up here.
00:00:15If things go perfectly for him in this, he can get 78 points clear
00:00:19and he needs 80 to win the championship.
00:00:21So not quite, but he's got one hand.
00:00:23So we're going to be looking forward to that race one on Saturday.
00:00:27Yeah, absolutely.
00:00:27But Molnar has really got to work hard in this race
00:00:31to try and get as many points as he can.
00:00:34Maybe even back McLaughlin into the rest of the pack.
00:00:36But, yeah, it is getting closer and closer
00:00:39for McLaughlin taking that trophy for the championship, isn't it?
00:00:42It is. It's not over yet for Martin Molnar.
00:00:44What he will do is take it race by race,
00:00:46try and limit the damage as best he can
00:00:48with Fionn McLaughlin in the points.
00:00:50And then, of course, at Brandtach, try and take the championship
00:00:52down to race two and ultimately into race three.
00:00:54That's what he's going to do.
00:00:55And we'll know he'll do that because he came out
00:00:57after a dismal race one earlier today
00:01:00to go and obviously get the fastest lap.
00:01:04So he didn't have any place points,
00:01:05but he went out and got the fastest lap,
00:01:07which was absolutely key and what he needed to do.
00:01:09Absolutely, yeah.
00:01:10We should see an interesting race here,
00:01:12but, yeah, we want to see some action for sure.
00:01:15The reverse grid race earlier was absolutely fantastic.
00:01:17So let's see some more of that in this third race.
00:01:20Here's how they line up.
00:01:22Meeting outright pole to Martin Molnar,
00:01:24Fionn McLaughlin alongside.
00:01:26Then it's Ari Bansal and Tommy Harfield.
00:01:27Jimmy Pazik and Henry Jocelyn complete our top six.
00:01:31Seventh on the grid is Ella Lloyd.
00:01:33Dries Van Langendonk next up from Ethan Jeff Hall,
00:01:36our race two winner.
00:01:36And then August Raybaud.
00:01:38Joseph Smith, rookie winner in the previous race,
00:01:40next to Adam Alazari.
00:01:43Rowan Campbell pilling lines up next with Charlie Edge.
00:01:46Thomas Behrman and Harnie Sadiq on row eight,
00:01:49the ninth row, Chase Fernandes and Theo Palmer.
00:01:53Following them,
00:01:54Ian Crailing and Tom Ingram Hill.
00:01:57Behind them, Juhal Fu and Elba Larsson.
00:01:59Cole Kiewitsen and Xavier Avramidis.
00:02:01And the grid completed by Henry Mercia
00:02:03and Alexander Savinkov.
00:02:06Savinkov made good progress from similar position
00:02:08after problems in qualifying.
00:02:10Made good progress in races one and two.
00:02:12It'll be interesting to see what he can do.
00:02:14But focus is rightly at this stage of the season
00:02:16going to be very much on our top two.
00:02:19Molnar under a bit of pressure.
00:02:20McLaughlin can't wrap it up.
00:02:22So all he can do, take the points here
00:02:24and try and do his best to sort things out
00:02:28as quickly as possible at Brands Hatch.
00:02:30Pazik's still in it, isn't he?
00:02:31He's still in the mix.
00:02:32He's not too far behind.
00:02:34He is, yeah.
00:02:34Jimmy Pazik, 2-4-2.
00:02:36He's only another five points behind Molnar.
00:02:38So technically, you know, if Pazik doesn't finish,
00:02:41then it's going to put it beyond Pazik
00:02:44as we look at Cole Hewitsen in the 33,
00:02:46the young South African driver.
00:02:49New livery this week for Hewitsen.
00:02:51Yep, looks good.
00:02:53Black and orange this time
00:02:54rather than the pink, white and blue.
00:02:59A bit like Chase Fernandes' car, actually,
00:03:01which is green and black.
00:03:03This one's orange and black.
00:03:05But, yeah, big shout-out for Jeff Hall,
00:03:07who won his first race earlier in the day.
00:03:09Jeff Hall did a cracking job in that race,
00:03:11Phil, you're absolutely right.
00:03:14Lights are on.
00:03:15Longish way.
00:03:16Great start by McLaughlin.
00:03:17Not so good by Martin Molnar.
00:03:20McLaughlin here.
00:03:20He's going to take some more points out.
00:03:22He's going to be difficult to pass around here.
00:03:25And that was a great start as well from...
00:03:28Was that Pazik?
00:03:29Yeah, Pazik.
00:03:29Jimmy Pazik up into second position.
00:03:31And he's potentially getting in second in the championship.
00:03:33Harfield's having a go at Molnar as well.
00:03:35Molnar's having a nightmare.
00:03:36Terrible start.
00:03:37Terrible first few corners.
00:03:39He has kept third.
00:03:40But Pazik is going down the inside.
00:03:41He's got a run now on McLaughlin.
00:03:43So he's going to be on the outside
00:03:44as they're going to Brooklands.
00:03:46Are they going to make contact?
00:03:47They look very, very close there.
00:03:49But they need to stay out of trouble
00:03:51as they come into Brooklands.
00:03:52Who's going to break latest?
00:03:53Here they come.
00:03:54There's a five-way scrap.
00:03:55The leaners all together here on lap 1.
00:03:57It's McLaughlin hanging on to it.
00:03:58Pazik in P2.
00:03:59Harfield's going around the outside.
00:04:00He's in third place.
00:04:01But he's having a good go
00:04:03on the championship second place man.
00:04:06Then we've got Harry Bansal
00:04:07in the white and red 4.10 car.
00:04:08Molnar goes over the gravel.
00:04:10That's not going to do him any favours.
00:04:11Loses momentum.
00:04:12And now we've got Tommy Harfield
00:04:14clearly into third place.
00:04:16But pressure now from Bansal.
00:04:18Having a look around the outside.
00:04:19The white and red car going to have a go at Molnar.
00:04:21He's down to fifth.
00:04:22Molnar down to fifth from Boll.
00:04:24Bansal and Harfield are actually flying this weekend.
00:04:26So I'm expecting big things in this final race
00:04:29as they're fighting hard
00:04:30to try and stay with the leaders.
00:04:32Pazik has a big moment under brakes.
00:04:33But he's managed to control it.
00:04:35And McLaughlin's still got this under control.
00:04:38Van Langendonk in the mix as well.
00:04:39He's behind Molnar now.
00:04:40So the driver in his second event with us
00:04:43in British F4.
00:04:45But it's McLaughlin.
00:04:45Appropriately perhaps the championship lead.
00:04:47And look at that.
00:04:48They're all jostling for position behind.
00:04:50Including Henry Jostlin.
00:04:51As they come down into Brooklands
00:04:53for the second time.
00:04:54Is Pazik going to be able to close in on McLaughlin?
00:04:57This is similar to yesterday's opening race.
00:04:59McLaughlin managed to get the jump
00:05:00on pole sitter Tommy Harfield yesterday.
00:05:03Harfield dropped back.
00:05:04Then closed in.
00:05:05They traded fastest laps.
00:05:06McLaughlin held on for the race win.
00:05:08But this one I think might follow a similar pattern
00:05:10as we have.
00:05:10Look briefly at Alazari.
00:05:12Leads across the line again.
00:05:13McLaughlin settling into this.
00:05:15Fastest flying lap for him as well.
00:05:1856.026 for the championship leader.
00:05:20Yeah, absolutely flying like you said.
00:05:22He is actually starting to pull away
00:05:23a little bit from Pazik.
00:05:24So he's either going to have to try
00:05:25and stay with him.
00:05:26Or Harfield needs to try and make the jump
00:05:28on Pazik to try and stop McLaughlin
00:05:30winning this race.
00:05:30But at the minute it looks like,
00:05:32like you said, in race one
00:05:33where McLaughlin just disappeared.
00:05:35Jostlin chasing Alazari.
00:05:36The white and black road in colour
00:05:38and then the traditional white and red
00:05:41Fortek with the blue mirrors
00:05:43is there as well.
00:05:44Down we go again.
00:05:45Bansal taking a slightly tighter line.
00:05:47Having a look for second position
00:05:48was Tommy Harfield there.
00:05:49Tommy had a little jink
00:05:50over to the left.
00:05:52Had a look at Jimmy Pazik.
00:05:53The battle is on for P2 now.
00:05:54Pazik goes wide.
00:05:55Harfield's going to do.
00:05:56He did this move in race two.
00:05:57Slots to cart the inside.
00:05:58Hasn't quite got the momentum.
00:05:59Pazik recovered from that.
00:06:00Not quite.
00:06:01He nearly managed to stick it down the inside.
00:06:03But Pazik had enough momentum
00:06:05to keep him at bay.
00:06:06But now look at him go.
00:06:07Trying to get down the inside.
00:06:08He gets squeezed to the pit wall.
00:06:10Just enough room for them to get through.
00:06:12Proper F4 racing again.
00:06:14This is why this is the FIA approved category.
00:06:17This is very much part of the official ladder
00:06:18up into Formula One racing.
00:06:21And Tommy Harfield,
00:06:22if Tommy Harfield doesn't get a chance
00:06:23to go further up the ladder
00:06:24I'll be very, very disappointed for him.
00:06:26Such a talented youngster.
00:06:28And he is there in third place.
00:06:31First race winner for the Chris Dittman team.
00:06:33Every team's won a race this year.
00:06:35Make no apology for saying that again.
00:06:36It's just the class of this championship.
00:06:38Here comes Harfield again.
00:06:39He's got a look.
00:06:40He's got the inside run.
00:06:41Down into Brooklyn's the left-hander.
00:06:43Pazik should know that's a done deal.
00:06:44Try and hang it around the outside.
00:06:46But Harfield up into P2.
00:06:47I think Pazik thought that
00:06:48we may as well just stop battling
00:06:50and I'll let you have a go
00:06:51at trying to catch the leader
00:06:52because he didn't make that difficult at all.
00:06:54So I think Pazik's used his head there.
00:06:57Jimmy P.
00:06:58Heard him talking to the fans
00:06:59over the lunch break.
00:07:00Very intelligent youngster is Jimmy P.
00:07:02Great value with the fans.
00:07:03And yeah, that would seem like
00:07:04a decent enough move
00:07:05as Molnar tries to get back there.
00:07:07Ari Bansel trying to challenge
00:07:09for fourth place.
00:07:10Dries van Langendonk
00:07:10in orange and black behind them.
00:07:12And Molnar's going around the outside.
00:07:13Is he going to get the move done?
00:07:14He has done, but he's still there.
00:07:16He can't squeeze him to any more.
00:07:18Bansel's on the curve.
00:07:19Bansel's on the inside now.
00:07:21Can Langendonk go down the inside as well?
00:07:22Oh, no, they're still side-by-side
00:07:24as they're going through Beckett's.
00:07:25Molnar is a proper racer, isn't he?
00:07:27They're all actually in the front group.
00:07:28Van Langendonk busy, chased by August Rieber.
00:07:31Contact between the two.
00:07:33Oh, how is this going to pan out now?
00:07:34I think Molnar's got the run.
00:07:36He's braved it out.
00:07:37He's got the inside run.
00:07:38This is what Harfield did last time.
00:07:40And Bansel's going to have to have another go.
00:07:41But Bansel's going to hang on the outside as well.
00:07:43Can he do it?
00:07:44Oh, they're very, very tight.
00:07:46And Molnar's going to go wide.
00:07:47Bansel's going to go back through.
00:07:49Still side-by-side.
00:07:50And van Langendonk too far back
00:07:51to make the most of this.
00:07:52But what about this, Phil?
00:07:54Look at this.
00:07:54They've done a whole lap now side-by-side.
00:07:57This is amazing.
00:07:58I cannot believe there's been no contact.
00:08:00This is great driving between these two guys
00:08:02in the Virtuosi and Vortec cars.
00:08:04It is great racing.
00:08:05This is what we love about this.
00:08:06They're still side-by-side.
00:08:07Is this going to end in tears?
00:08:08Are we going to see a good, clean run?
00:08:10They're losing out to...
00:08:11I'll tell you what.
00:08:12Pazik's being left, isn't he, by Harfield.
00:08:14These two still side-by-side.
00:08:15They're almost glued together.
00:08:17This can't carry on.
00:08:18Van Langendonk wants to join the party as well.
00:08:20And as a result, Molnar decides to chop back to the inside.
00:08:23And he's going to try a different line here.
00:08:25He said, you had the outside of Brooklands last time.
00:08:27I'll try it and grab the inside as we go through Lovefield.
00:08:29See how that pays out.
00:08:30At the moment, though,
00:08:31it looks like Vance has just got the edge
00:08:33as they go down to Brooklands again.
00:08:34Yeah, he has.
00:08:36Molnar cuts across.
00:08:37Sees Van Langendonk coming into the mix.
00:08:39August Rabin behind as well.
00:08:40And Harfield's up with the leader.
00:08:42Yeah, absolutely.
00:08:42Tommy Harfield's with the leader.
00:08:43Whilst we're watching that battle for fourth,
00:08:45it's Harfield is now all over McLaughlin.
00:08:48Let's see if we can see the CDR car get his second win of the year.
00:08:52But that's Hewitsen that's out as McLaughlin is defending from Harfield.
00:08:56Can Harfield go around the outside as he gets the fastest lap?
00:08:58He doesn't quite make his stick there,
00:09:01but now he's got some pace.
00:09:03Tommy Harfield would have been the Challenge Cup winner, I think,
00:09:06had he elected to just do the eight rounds,
00:09:08but he opted into the last two.
00:09:10Obviously, last time out at Donington,
00:09:11he got the first win for Chris Dittman racing,
00:09:14and now we're seeing him battling on even terms the championship leader.
00:09:18And that really underlines Phil.
00:09:20Great decision, wasn't it, to drop out of the Challenge Cup?
00:09:22Yeah, no, definitely.
00:09:23He's definitely won for the championship.
00:09:25It's a shame he didn't have some better results,
00:09:28especially at Donington, I think he was,
00:09:30when he got wiped out.
00:09:32But, yeah, he deserved that win as well.
00:09:33But here we are with the safety car for Hewitsen,
00:09:36who's in the gravel.
00:09:37So not a great weekend for him.
00:09:38He did have a great race early on in the day against Larson.
00:09:41But, yeah, unfortunately, he's out of the race now.
00:09:45And, yeah, we've got the safety car out.
00:09:48Same for Hewitsen.
00:09:49As I said, rookie driver.
00:09:51For those of you who haven't watched F4 before,
00:09:52if it's the yellow background, it's a first-year car driver.
00:09:55You can race in junior categories, like Janetta or Fiesta Junior.
00:09:59If you've done that, then you lose rookie status car-wise.
00:10:02So there are sort of brand newcomers.
00:10:04But there are also drivers that can qualify as rookies
00:10:08that have done, you know, maybe a little bit more karting or other.
00:10:12Ian Crayling's just come into pit lane as well.
00:10:15Yeah, I just saw him come into the pits.
00:10:17He's obviously got an issue, a puncture or something,
00:10:19maybe, but it also looked like Hewitsen had a puncture.
00:10:22There might be a jump start there.
00:10:24I'm sure I saw a car move further back.
00:10:26You're a harbinger of doom, Mr. Glenn.
00:10:28I know, sorry.
00:10:29Who was it?
00:10:30It might have been Jocelyn, you know.
00:10:32Yeah, yeah.
00:10:33I think I saw something on the TSL screen earlier
00:10:36that there's a car under investigation.
00:10:38But, yeah, Jocelyn might be under investigation for a jump start,
00:10:42which is not great for him.
00:10:44Jocelyn, of course, had loads of polls, didn't he,
00:10:46earlier on in the season.
00:10:47Can you go have a look out for him?
00:10:48Can you put the white red a little bit further back?
00:10:49Yeah, definitely.
00:10:52It's close.
00:10:53It's definitely close.
00:10:53But we will see if there is any penalties coming up on our screens.
00:10:58But, yeah, Hewitton, I don't mind seeing what exactly happened
00:11:00because that's an unusual place to be off the track at Brooklands.
00:11:03It looked like the tyre was off the rim.
00:11:06So, either he's had contact or he's slipped through the gravel sideways
00:11:09and he's ripped the tyre off the rim.
00:11:11But I'm sure we'll see that later.
00:11:13I think we're certainly going to get another lap under safety car.
00:11:16The rescue crews, as ever, doing a super job
00:11:19and clearing things up as quickly as possible.
00:11:21This is a short lap, so you sometimes do get the extra tours
00:11:25whilst the safety car is out.
00:11:27And Scott Stringfellow, our safety car driver.
00:11:30There he is.
00:11:32Cole Hewittson.
00:11:33Yeah, he doesn't look too upset.
00:11:36So, yeah, maybe there's not too much damage.
00:11:40But, yeah, I don't think we've managed to catch that on camera.
00:11:42So, yeah, it's a shame for him, shame for the XL team.
00:11:46There's three of the XL cars out there,
00:11:48so they'll all be fighting for team points.
00:11:51And I think they're talking about team points.
00:11:53The team championship is still up for grabs
00:11:54between the usuals, Hitek and Rodin.
00:11:57It is.
00:11:59I think there's about 30 points between them.
00:12:01It's not right in saying, though, Hitek now.
00:12:02He's all rookies, isn't it?
00:12:04It is.
00:12:05Yes, it is.
00:12:05Yeah, I mean, that's a mega job, isn't it?
00:12:07Yeah, yeah.
00:12:08Amazing.
00:12:09They did have Leo Robinson earlier on in the year,
00:12:11but he had to pull out.
00:12:12So, yeah, that's when they brought Joseph Smith,
00:12:14who was in Janetta Juniors, into the category,
00:12:17who started on pole earlier on in the day.
00:12:20Did he get fourth or fifth?
00:12:22I think it was fifth and rookie class win,
00:12:24which was the story there.
00:12:25Yeah, really good job from him.
00:12:26So, hope to see him back next year,
00:12:29back with Hitek.
00:12:30I think Hitek, I think a lot of the teams
00:12:32have actually filled a lot of their seats.
00:12:34So, yeah, it's going to be a big grid next year.
00:12:36Yeah, I think it's going to be bigger.
00:12:38As I say, it's the way that MSUK have nurtured the championship,
00:12:41continued to develop it, promote it, water it.
00:12:44You have to do that with your championships.
00:12:45You have to look after them.
00:12:46It sounds like a common-sense thing to say,
00:12:48but they really have.
00:12:49And some drivers have dipped in and out,
00:12:51you know, with LL drivers to do the Challenge Cup,
00:12:54where you do seven pre-elected rounds out of the ten,
00:12:58and that means that the teams can get other drivers in
00:13:00for a shout for other rounds.
00:13:02It's flexible, terrific racing, as we've said.
00:13:04This is always one of my favourite tracks for, you know,
00:13:07as Brandt Hatch used to be, for me,
00:13:09the spiritual home for Formula 4 1600,
00:13:10the precursor of this.
00:13:12But, yeah, Silverstone National is my favourite circuit for F4.
00:13:16Yeah, it's not their favourite, for sure,
00:13:18but they like the GP second.
00:13:21Yeah, of course it is, yeah.
00:13:22You've got some great viewing areas,
00:13:24especially, yeah, Brooklyn's in Laffield.
00:13:26They've got a very good section there.
00:13:28Yeah, Turn 1, on the banking of Turn 1,
00:13:30is very good to watch.
00:13:31But, yeah, the points there on the screen,
00:13:33so Paseek and Molnar are actually joint on points at the minute
00:13:38with 257.
00:13:39But, yeah, just a little bit too far away from McLaughlin
00:13:41in the Red Bull car.
00:13:43We will see another Red Bull car next year, I believe.
00:13:47Will we?
00:13:47Back with high-tech.
00:13:48I think there's one of the young guns coming through.
00:13:51Is that from juniors or from cars?
00:13:53I think it might be.
00:13:53There are a couple of drivers in Ginetta juniors
00:13:57in the Red Bull livery cars,
00:13:58so I'm hoping we see one of those.
00:14:00That'll be good.
00:14:01It'll be good to see.
00:14:03There's loads of testing going on at the moment, isn't there?
00:14:05A lot of juniors are coming up and having a go at testing
00:14:07and working out where they want to go.
00:14:09The JHR mechanics at an event a couple of weeks ago,
00:14:12and they were saying that basically all the drivers they were testing
00:14:14were called Ethan.
00:14:15Yeah.
00:14:17There's a few Ethans out there.
00:14:19I don't know why.
00:14:19It's weird.
00:14:20It's, yeah, obviously we've got one on the grid of Ethan,
00:14:23Jeff Hall, who got his first win earlier today.
00:14:26I think we saw that in the lunch break.
00:14:28And, yeah, it was fantastic to see that Mercedes junior driver
00:14:32with Argenti doing a great job of making an amazing move
00:14:36around the outside, going into Brooklands from third to first
00:14:39and taking his first win against his teammate,
00:14:44Graver, who finished second.
00:14:45It was a hard-earned win, wasn't it?
00:14:47It was, you know, nothing really reverse grid about it, was it?
00:14:49He had to work to get into the lead,
00:14:51and it was a job very well done.
00:14:53Yeah, it was superb.
00:14:54So, yeah, he's finally got his first win,
00:14:56and hopefully we'll see many more.
00:14:58Well, there's not much chance this year.
00:14:59We've only got one more round at Brands Hatch with three races.
00:15:02So, he is pretty good round there,
00:15:05although he didn't have the best of races
00:15:07to win the championship in Jeanette Juniors at Brands GP last year.
00:15:11But he still took the championship,
00:15:13and he also took the World Karting Championship as well.
00:15:16So, yeah, an absolute start of the future,
00:15:19and hopefully we see him back next year.
00:15:21I hope so.
00:15:22Is it likely he might do a second?
00:15:24I think so.
00:15:25I think he needs to.
00:15:26You know, he's had some good results, lots of podiums,
00:15:28but I think he's only about eighth or ninth in the championship.
00:15:32So, he does need to really do another year just to prove himself.
00:15:37As we see everyone do another lap around the Silverstone National Circuit,
00:15:42it's just taken a little bit longer than expected
00:15:44to get that car moved and clean the track,
00:15:50and then we can get going again.
00:15:51The other thing I was going to point out is that Ari Bansal's running in fourth.
00:15:54To my maths, and this is subject to official confirmation,
00:15:58Bansal, by my reckoning, Phil, is going to wrap up Challenge Cup here
00:16:01because he's 12 and a half points clear,
00:16:03but Lloyd can't do any more events.
00:16:04Ella, Lloyd's done seven events.
00:16:06So, out of all the chasers,
00:16:08I reckon we might have our Challenge Cup winner here, which will be Bansal,
00:16:10and he's still got a round to spare.
00:16:12He well deserves it as well.
00:16:13But that's subject to confirmation, I would say, it's my maths.
00:16:15So, we all know where we go on my maths conversations.
00:16:18I think in previous years you've been pretty bang on, so...
00:16:20That's very kind of you.
00:16:21Checks in the post.
00:16:23Lights are out on the safety car, on the Lotus safety car,
00:16:27and McLaughlin is our new leader.
00:16:29He is going to be backing them up as he comes into Luffield.
00:16:32He might go early, he might leave until quite late,
00:16:35but he's still weaving to try and just put off the drivers behind.
00:16:39My bet is he's going to go nice and wide,
00:16:41going into Brooklands and get the best exit.
00:16:44Oh, he keeps it tight.
00:16:46When's he going to go?
00:16:47Harfield's rigging this quite well, by my reckoning, as well.
00:16:49He's keeping a very keen eye on him, isn't he?
00:16:51Oh, it's nice. He's done a good job there.
00:16:53He's gone to the inside to make it look like he's not going in.
00:16:55He's pulled away, but Harfield's done a good job.
00:16:56Stayed with him there.
00:16:57Yeah, really good.
00:16:58That was a fascinating...
00:16:59That was one of the most fascinating restarts I've seen behind safety car.
00:17:03Both guys knew what they were doing.
00:17:04Look, nice, tidy start.
00:17:05Now, Harfield had the fastest lap before the safety car.
00:17:07They've got to get away from Bazine again before they can challenge
00:17:10as Alazari starts to have a look at August Reiber,
00:17:13van Langendog in front of them.
00:17:15But it was a decent restart, though,
00:17:16and it looks like McLaughlin has had the better of that.
00:17:19He's breaking the ground, remember, before safety car Harfield was all over him,
00:17:23and that's not happening for the moment.
00:17:25No, it's not.
00:17:25He's pulled away there nicely,
00:17:27but, yeah, Pazique is gone with Harfield.
00:17:29You can see further back there's Wern Campbell pilling
00:17:32and Fernandes battling hard further back in 14th place.
00:17:38So, as you can see, the 4-tech car,
00:17:40a band saw going down the inside there,
00:17:41keeping Molnar behind,
00:17:43as Pazique is trying to stay on terms with the leaders.
00:17:45Yes, he is.
00:17:46So, Martin Molnar wants to close up some points.
00:17:48He's got Dries van Langendog, who will take points off of him
00:17:51during the last couple of races.
00:17:53Possibly we'll see him in British Air 4 as well next year.
00:17:56Some of the drivers will go out to the Emirates and race in the sunshine.
00:18:00That's a nice thing, isn't it?
00:18:01It certainly is.
00:18:01You'll be going out there to coach people.
00:18:03Yeah, absolutely.
00:18:03I love going out there.
00:18:05It's really good for them as well.
00:18:07They get a lot of racing, a lot of qualifying.
00:18:09Yeah, some of the teams don't do it.
00:18:11Some of the teams test and race in Spain
00:18:13or another winter series.
00:18:15Some go to the Middle East.
00:18:17Either way, it gives these guys a lot more practice
00:18:19to know exactly what they're doing
00:18:21when they come and do their main championship.
00:18:23Molnar up into fourth place now.
00:18:25We were just chatting about the UA.
00:18:26Oh, Bill's going down the inside.
00:18:27What a move down the inside of Bulklands.
00:18:30It was a bit of a dummy.
00:18:31Went to the outside and threw it down the inside
00:18:33and now he leads the race.
00:18:35McLaughlin is going to have to fight hard,
00:18:36but will he fight that hard?
00:18:38He doesn't need to, but he's a racer.
00:18:40McLaughlin would love the wins.
00:18:41I do wonder whether, as you said,
00:18:43there is an element that, you know, maybe...
00:18:45But he's not necessarily going to go for the win.
00:18:49But Larsen, is that like to be a wing again?
00:18:51That seems to be the most common problem, doesn't it?
00:18:53Getting entangled and having a wing
00:18:55hitting the back of the car.
00:18:57Shame for Elba, who was on the podium earlier on,
00:19:01hummed and hard when they asked
00:19:01if she was coming back next year.
00:19:03I think we've lost Charlie Edge from the race as well,
00:19:05but Harfield, that was a great move.
00:19:06Yeah, and you also saw another safety car.
00:19:09She's obviously got stuck in the gravel.
00:19:11Well, that is a nightmare for the viewers and for us
00:19:13to have to go through another safety car
00:19:15around the national circuit.
00:19:17But it's obviously for safety reasons.
00:19:19She is stuck.
00:19:20Obviously, there's no tyre on that rim.
00:19:23So Harfield now leads.
00:19:25So it's his turn to try
00:19:26and get the restart absolutely bang on.
00:19:29But it was looking tasty
00:19:30between Langendong, Molnar and Bansal
00:19:33further back for fourth, fifth and sixth.
00:19:35So I think that's going to be getting nice and exciting
00:19:38for the last few laps of the race.
00:19:40It will.
00:19:41There's been so much to look at here.
00:19:43Just having a look down the top ten.
00:19:45Rowan Cavill-Pilling has managed to get to the top ten again.
00:19:47Head of Alasari now.
00:19:49Now, in terms of the rookies,
00:19:51it's McLaughlin, unsurprisingly,
00:19:53from Van Langendong and Smith.
00:19:56Here's the...
00:19:56I think we're going to have a look
00:19:57at what happened at the end of the incident.
00:20:00Oh, there's quite a few involved, isn't there?
00:20:02So, yeah, she's just got turned around quite early.
00:20:05So she's...
00:20:06Yeah, it's interesting.
00:20:07Maybe there was contact earlier on in the lap.
00:20:10It looks like Marshall's doing a great job here
00:20:14and hopefully get this car off the track
00:20:16so we don't have to have this safety car out for too long.
00:20:19We're going to take another look at the move
00:20:21that Tommy Harfield made.
00:20:22So here they come down the straight.
00:20:24So McLaughlin goes to defend initially.
00:20:26Then he decides, no, it's all right.
00:20:27I've got loads of room.
00:20:28So I'm going to go back to the outside.
00:20:29Then Harfield throws it down the inside.
00:20:31Absolute textbook move from Harfield.
00:20:33Really, really superb bit of driving,
00:20:35actually from both drivers.
00:20:36But, yeah, he did actually make it look very good
00:20:42to try and get that move done past McLaughlin.
00:20:44So, yeah, very good from Harfield.
00:20:46Very impressed.
00:20:46That side-by-side lap and a half or so, wasn't it,
00:20:49that we had with Bansort and Molnod.
00:20:52That is why I like this track
00:20:53because if you get the drivers that respect each other
00:20:55that are at this level,
00:20:56this is a high level of racing, very high level,
00:20:59then they can entertain us like that.
00:21:01There aren't too many tracks where you can do that.
00:21:03No, you're right because it is very wide.
00:21:06It is an F1 circuit, so it is very wide.
00:21:08He can do that.
00:21:09You wouldn't see that happen at Knock Hill, would you?
00:21:11No, and he won't next year.
00:21:12I don't think he won't be coming over next year.
00:21:13It's a shame, yeah.
00:21:14Yeah, it is a great circuit for...
00:21:17Well, it is a great circuit,
00:21:19but it's, unfortunately, cars have got more modern.
00:21:22They've got bigger.
00:21:23They've got stiffer.
00:21:25They don't suit that sort of circuit
00:21:28and especially for a lot of these drivers
00:21:29who are trying to make a career in single-seaters,
00:21:32Knock Hill is not really a circuit
00:21:33that they need to know that well
00:21:35and that type of circuit, it needs to be more...
00:21:37Unfortunately, in a way,
00:21:39it needs to be more like these sort of circuits,
00:21:41like the Abu Dhabis, the Silverstones.
00:21:43You know, Zandvoort's a pretty good circuit
00:21:46for, you know, a little bit of history as well,
00:21:48but, again, it's still an F1 circuit, nice and wide,
00:21:51and it's good for these up-and-coming single-seater drivers.
00:21:56It is, yeah.
00:21:57So, it'd be a shame,
00:21:58but I'm sure we'll have some guest formulae of note
00:22:00and value at Knock Hill.
00:22:01I mean, you won't be coming up then to Knock Hill.
00:22:03I know, I quite like it.
00:22:04It's a nice little holiday.
00:22:08Well, that's a shame.
00:22:09We'll engineer something, I'm sure.
00:22:10I'll tell you what, you carry my bags up there,
00:22:12I'll carry yours to Dubai.
00:22:15Right, are we going to get this car out of the way?
00:22:18It's not fully gone, is it?
00:22:19No, it needs to be pulled over towards those marshals
00:22:22that you can see on the inside,
00:22:24waving the yellow flag.
00:22:25So, it's not far.
00:22:26So, we're moving, we're moving.
00:22:28So, we're looking good.
00:22:30Hopefully, maybe, maybe next lap.
00:22:32And then Tommy Hartfield's got to think about his restart,
00:22:35which I'm sure he'll be OK with.
00:22:36You see, McLaughlin might have some ideas.
00:22:39He's been in that scenario.
00:22:40I quite liked McLaughlin.
00:22:41I was expecting him to.
00:22:43To go nice and wide and get a really good exit,
00:22:45but he left it a little bit later.
00:22:46I suppose you've got to try something different.
00:22:48Everyone's expecting him to do that.
00:22:50And he waited until he got to the inside of the exit of the final corner
00:22:56and caught them all off guard.
00:22:58Spoken about Hartfield as if he's sort of not anywhere in the main championship.
00:23:01We were talking about him being challenged.
00:23:02He's actually fourth in the overall standing.
00:23:04So, you know, he could possibly, if he outscores Pizik heavily,
00:23:07which he's not going to do here,
00:23:08but if he does so at Brant's Hatch, he could get third position at Brant's Hatch.
00:23:12And, you know, this is a driver that's come through Fiesta Juniors.
00:23:16You know, we've mentioned before the likes of Joseph Logue and Deegan Fairclough
00:23:20as the lights on the safety car go out.
00:23:22It's not an unusual route now,
00:23:23and there are some junior drivers from Fiestas as well as Gianetta coming up
00:23:27and looking at F4, so they're all viable routes.
00:23:30But back in the day, you probably wouldn't have expected them to take that.
00:23:33No, I know it's happened quite a lot more often now with the Fiesta Juniors.
00:23:38It's a completely different type of car to these cars.
00:23:40So, yeah, the Gianetta Juniors is the normal because it's rear-wheel drive
00:23:43with the Fiestas, they're front-wheel drive.
00:23:45So, yeah, it's a big accident.
00:23:47Let's see.
00:23:47So, that's the restart that I was expecting from McLaughlin,
00:23:50but it's still done very well by Hartfield.
00:23:54Yeah, Tommy Hartfield.
00:23:54Very well.
00:23:55Yeah, indeed, he leads them away.
00:23:56It's actually probably, the net result is he's a little bit further ahead.
00:23:59He did, McLaughlin did break the toe on the first lap,
00:24:02so we'll see whether McLaughlin can close in on the toe on Tommy Hartfield,
00:24:07the race leader for Zeke.
00:24:08Third, Bansal is fourth on his way to the Challenge Cup, we think.
00:24:11Malnacht in fifth place, Van Langenauk still in sixth.
00:24:14Black and white flag for Iron Crailing for track limits.
00:24:19He's also a lap down as well.
00:24:21No, he's not.
00:24:22He's still on the main lap.
00:24:23He did come into the pits earlier,
00:24:25so maybe he got away with it with the safety guy.
00:24:27He didn't go a lap down because everyone else was under the safety car.
00:24:31But Hartfield's doing a great job here
00:24:32as he's opening up the corner into Brooklands.
00:24:35Zeke is trying to stay on terms with McLaughlin,
00:24:38but further back it's a lot closer than it is for the top three.
00:24:41Very close indeed.
00:24:42Are we going to see Tommy Hartfield pick up a second win for himself
00:24:45in the championship, but also a second win in the championship period
00:24:50for Chris Dittman Racing?
00:24:52Yeah, that'd be great to see them have another successful weekend.
00:24:56Like I said earlier, they nearly had a win at Donington as well.
00:24:59They did.
00:25:00This should have been their third win.
00:25:01But look, further back we've got all the Excel cars fighting hard
00:25:06to try and keep position.
00:25:08I think that's Parma and Fu and Savanik as well.
00:25:13Savankov?
00:25:14Near enough.
00:25:15Sorry.
00:25:18The drivers always say, I don't mind, I don't mind,
00:25:20but we do try, we do care, we do actually try.
00:25:23I had to correct that.
00:25:26But yeah, we've got one of the Jett Char cars as well
00:25:30who's battling hard to try and stay with the pack.
00:25:34It's Harney, isn't it?
00:25:35I think Harney Sadiq after his crash in race number one
00:25:37trying to get in the mix as well.
00:25:38But Hartfield leads them around.
00:25:39Two minutes, 32 to go.
00:25:40Hartfield for Glockland and Pizik on the podium again.
00:25:43Bantle back ahead of Molnar.
00:25:45So those two have traded places a couple of times in this one.
00:25:49Molnar, as far, he is a great little fighter.
00:25:51I'm looking forward to seeing how his career pans out further on.
00:25:54But Hartfield away now from McLaughlin.
00:25:56He certainly is, yeah.
00:25:57He's now set the fastest lap of the race at 55 dead.
00:26:01And he is 7 tenths clear of McLaughlin.
00:26:03But McLaughlin doesn't need to do anything.
00:26:05He's ahead of his main championship rivals.
00:26:08Hartfield, like you said, he's in fourth position.
00:26:11So, yeah, McLaughlin's just thought, no, it's fine.
00:26:13I can finish second.
00:26:14I won yesterday.
00:26:16We obviously didn't have a great second race,
00:26:17but it didn't matter because neither did Molnar.
00:26:19So, yeah, he's really thinking about the championship now, isn't he?
00:26:22He is very much for tech in it.
00:26:24But he's not only getting the Challenge Cup as well with Bantle.
00:26:28He's done a super job since he has been in.
00:26:30Side-by-side going on there, which I think was Alasari.
00:26:33Campbell Pilling, was it?
00:26:34Getting side-by-side, getting stuck in.
00:27:05It was Jocelyn, wasn't it?
00:27:06Yeah.
00:27:06He had lots of pole positions.
00:27:07Just couldn't get the rub of the green, get the car started to his liking.
00:27:12Could have had a couple of wins earlier in the season for tech.
00:27:15Smith goes a little bit wider in the number two car up ahead of Chase Fernandes.
00:27:19Number 91 of the Junior Frontrunners.
00:27:20Lone race winner for Excel Motorsport.
00:27:23He's coming on to the leaders heading up towards their last lap now with 45 seconds to go.
00:27:28Yeah, Alasari trying to make a move.
00:27:30I think that's on Behrman, wasn't it?
00:27:33But didn't quite make it stick.
00:27:34As you can see, Fernandes down the inside of Smith.
00:27:37So, yeah, great move from Fernandes.
00:27:39Like you said, he's won lots of races in Ginetta Juniors and also won some races in F4.
00:27:44But we have one more lap now to see if anyone can make some more moves.
00:27:48We have this confirmation.
00:27:50Bantles, P4, just off the podium.
00:27:52Rookie podium, McLaughlin, Van Langendonk and Behrman.
00:27:56Behrman's had a quiet weekend in terms of podium.
00:27:58We normally see him up there or thereabouts.
00:28:00I think this is his first rookie podium of the weekend.
00:28:03But it's Harfield who is keen here to get that second win for Chris Dittman racing.
00:28:08A little bit further back.
00:28:09Ella Lloyd stuck in.
00:28:11That's down in 15th place.
00:28:12Chasing Smith.
00:28:13Palmer behind her.
00:28:14Then Savinkov.
00:28:16Clock's run down.
00:28:17Harfield closing stages of this one.
00:28:19Here is Tommy Harfield.
00:28:20Two wins for Chris Dittman.
00:28:22I tell you what, neither of them flukes.
00:28:24They've worked really hard, the team.
00:28:25Tommy Harfield's done well to, you know, by and large, the only driver for the team for most of the
00:28:30time.
00:28:30So he's done it with very little data from teammates.
00:28:33And now takes his second win of the season.
00:28:35Second win for Chris Dittman racing.
00:28:37Fionn McLaughlin gets closer to the championship with P2.
00:28:40Jimmy Fazek keeps his, I think, title hopes alive.
00:28:43Or certainly a stronger finish alive.
00:28:46With third position from Harry Bansal.
00:28:48Then it was Martin Molnar competing the top six.
00:28:51And Dries van Langendonk in six.
00:28:53Yeah, that was superb.
00:28:55And you can see McLaughlin there congratulating Harfield.
00:28:57So a great bit of sportsmanship there.
00:28:59But what a drive from Harfield.
00:29:01What an effort from CDR.
00:29:04Yeah, mega job for them.
00:29:05They were absolutely made up with the first win.
00:29:07I think, you know, in many respects, they'll probably be even more delighted with win number two.
00:29:11And they've been knocking on the door of it, as you said, with Donington Park.
00:29:14And now here at Silverstone.
00:29:15The other thing is, the wins are coming at different tracks as well.
00:29:18It's not just like, oh, it was a one-track wonder.
00:29:20Yeah, exactly.
00:29:20Yeah.
00:29:21No, it's superb to see.
00:29:22And as well, Bansal, who looks like he is the Challenge Champion.
00:29:26So Challenge Cup Champion.
00:29:28Brilliant drive from him in this race and all year.
00:29:31And congratulations to him and the 410 team.
00:29:34Absolutely.
00:29:34Well done to both of them.
00:29:35Delighted to see that.
00:29:36And with a round to spare.
00:29:37I'm sure he'll still be at Brandt Hatch to get stuck in on the GP circuit, which we're very excited
00:29:42about.
00:29:43Always a terrific meeting on Brandt Hatch GP.
00:29:45But Harfield in the 21 car.
00:29:47I think maybe just enjoying the moment as he comes into pit lane.
00:29:51So Harfield, McLaughlin, Pizik, Bansal, Molnar, Van Langendonk.
00:29:56Here's confirmation round 27.
00:29:58Just three races left now in this year's championship.
00:30:01And it's Tommy Harfield that takes the win by a second and a half from Phil McLaughlin.
00:30:05Jimmy Pizik next from Ari Bansal and Martin Molnar.
00:30:08Dries Van Langendonk and August Raber are next from Ethan Jeff Hall.
00:30:11Rowan Campbell pilling up into ninth at the end ahead of Thomas Behrman.
00:30:13And they complete our top ten.
00:30:16Adam Alazari takes 11th from Chase Fernandes.
00:30:18Joseph Smith 13th from Ella Lloyd.
00:30:20Theo Palmer and Oleksandr Savinkov next from Harney Sadiq.
00:30:24Xavier Avramides, Henry Jocelyn and Yuha Foo.
00:30:2921st goes to Tom Ingram Hill.
00:30:31Henry Mercia next up from Iron Crailing.
00:30:34Charlie Edge had a pit stop.
00:30:35He's classified 24th.
00:30:37And we saw retirements for Elba Larsson and Cole Hewitson.
00:30:44Championship table as we head to Brands Hatch will be headed by Finn McLaughlin.
00:30:50McLaughlin heads the table as we head to Brands Hatch.
00:30:52Jimmy Pizik in P2 jointly with Martin Molnar.
00:30:56Tommy Harfield 4th from August Raber and Ethan Jeff Hall.
00:30:58Adam Alazari 7th from Henry Jocelyn.
00:31:01The top ten completed by Thomas Behrman and Rowan Campbell pilling.
00:31:07The rookie championship.
00:31:08Fear McLaughlin champion from Thomas Behrman's second head of Theo Palmer.
00:31:12Cole Hewitson and Xavier Avramides.
00:31:14And congratulations again to Ari Bansel from Ella Lloyd in P2.
00:31:17Charlie Edge is third.
00:31:18Great result for him over the season.
00:31:20Elba Larsson in fourth.
00:31:21And Iron Crailing in fifth place.
00:31:25Many of the drivers in the challenge we won't see at Brands Hatch because they've completed their rounds.
00:31:30We wish them well for their onward journey in motorsport.
00:31:33Here is the Challenge Cup winner, Ari Bansel.
00:31:37Congratulations, Ari.
00:31:39We wish him well too.
00:31:41I'm sure we'll see him at Brands Hatch for another go just to extend his lead in that one.
00:31:45And also we see Tommy Harfield, our race winner.
00:31:48We'll catch up with him after this short break.
00:31:49Please stay with us.
00:31:56So it was Martin Muller on pole.
00:31:58But after 20 minutes of racing and two safety cars, it was Tommy Harfield who crossed the chequered flag first,
00:32:04taking his second win of the season and a great win for Chris Dittman Racing.
00:32:10And I am delighted to say that we have our winner here with us now.
00:32:15It was a dramatic one, wasn't it?
00:32:17It was a real battle.
00:32:18Particularly, I think there was a brilliant moment down Brooklyn's on McLaughlin.
00:32:22Congratulations.
00:32:23Yeah, it was an amazing race.
00:32:25We had the amazing pace from the start.
00:32:28Yeah, a pretty good start.
00:32:30Gained one, lost one.
00:32:32Ended up third by the first lap.
00:32:35And then got to second.
00:32:37Had amazing pace.
00:32:39There was a long safety car, but got him just after the safety car and led the rest of the
00:32:42way.
00:32:43And a second win of the season.
00:32:45You know, going from strength to strength at the moment.
00:32:48Yeah, it's been amazing.
00:32:49Two wins in two weekends.
00:32:52Yeah, I can't ask for much more from the team.
00:32:56Yeah, amazing car.
00:32:58Just thank you to everyone who's helped me.
00:33:02Chris, my engineer, David, Jack, my mechanic.
00:33:05And, yeah, the whole of the CDR team.
00:33:07Well, huge congratulations.
00:33:09Well done.
00:33:09Very well deserved.
00:33:10Let's have a quick word with Finn McLaughlin.
00:33:13Couldn't quite hold on to the lead of the race.
00:33:16But it was a great battle to watch between you and Tommy there.
00:33:20Yeah, definitely.
00:33:21I think all week we've been good as a team.
00:33:23But I was definitely worried about Tommy in the last race.
00:33:26Or the race one, he was so quick.
00:33:28I just knew he was going to be coming through.
00:33:31And he got a good overtake in me.
00:33:33And then from then I just struggled compared to him.
00:33:35But the pace was strong, I think.
00:33:37I'm happy giving more points in the championship and building a bigger lead.
00:33:41So that's the main focus.
00:33:42Yeah, I mean, given the fact that you're still leading the standings,
00:33:45not too much pressure on you.
00:33:46Yeah, I think now I'm a bit relaxed.
00:33:48Just going to try to come to Brands and get a few more wins.
00:33:52Obviously, try to get a better qualifying, maybe Paul.
00:33:55But still, I'm happy.
00:33:56Car's good.
00:33:57And, yeah, let's see how we do.
00:33:59Lovely stuff.
00:33:59Congratulations.
00:34:00Thanks very much.
00:34:01And let's bring in James.
00:34:03Congratulations.
00:34:04A P3 in that race.
00:34:05How do you reflect on it?
00:34:07Yeah, I mean, we got a really good start.
00:34:08Started P5.
00:34:09And then I think I was challenging for the lead into T2 already.
00:34:12So, yeah, I think the most important thing for me in that race was the start.
00:34:15And then it was just maintaining that.
00:34:16But, yeah, I mean, Tommy, he was so fast.
00:34:19And it was just a matter of, like, laps before he was going to get past us all.
00:34:22So, yeah, it was super hard to keep up with him.
00:34:24But, yeah, it was good to finish P3 in the end.
00:34:26Yeah, I think you're now joint second with Molnar in the standings.
00:34:30Yeah, I mean, I've got no clue.
00:34:31I'm not a mathematician.
00:34:32I can't do it that quickly.
00:34:33But, yeah, it's nice going into the last round, being a little bit closer or equal to second
00:34:38and see if we can put some pressure on Finn.
00:34:40But he's done a pretty good job all year.
00:34:42Yeah, brilliant.
00:34:42Well, huge congratulations.
00:34:44And bring back some more pace next time.
00:34:46Perfect.
00:34:47Lovely stuff.
00:34:48Well, next up, we are going to bring in, we've got another interview, of course.
00:34:53Congratulations, because you have won, our first time ever, the Challenge Cup.
00:34:58Talk us through with the finishing P4.
00:35:01Well, overall, the race was, I think, a bit up and down.
00:35:06Start was not good, but I was able to make a few positions back.
00:35:09And, yeah, I think it was quite a lot of fun racing there.
00:35:13Long time side by side with Molnar.
00:35:15Yeah, absolutely.
00:35:16No, plenty of battles, and I'm sure lots of experience to take from it.
00:35:19Yes, for sure.
00:35:19For sure.
00:35:20Brilliant.
00:35:21Well, what a brilliant race.
00:35:23We will be back on air just after the break for more action from the Porsches.
00:35:28See you then.
00:35:31Well, next up, we have the Porsche Sprint Challenge.
00:35:35Let's go down to Lou for all the action on the grid.
00:35:38Thank you, Nikki.
00:35:39Yep, I've come down onto the grid.
00:35:41We don't often come onto the support race grids, but nice to get the opportunity to chat to some of
00:35:45the drivers.
00:35:45And I'm going to start with Dan Zellos.
00:35:46A name that we know very well on the BTCC bill, obviously multiple mini champion, also had some time in
00:35:53the touring cars as well.
00:35:55First season in the Porsche Sprint Challenge.
00:35:58How are you getting on with it?
00:35:59It's a very different car to what you've driven previously, isn't it?
00:36:02It is, yeah.
00:36:02Obviously, race touring car felt like a step up compared to mini challenge.
00:36:07Now it feels like I'm trying to ride a bike backwards.
00:36:10So, it's, yeah, it's been a massive whirlwind.
00:36:13And I think when we probably spoke last year when I was in the touring car grid, I'd have never
00:36:17expected to be on a Porsche grid right now.
00:36:19But, you know, we're taking it with both hands.
00:36:21Learning rear wheel drive after doing front wheel drive for like nine years.
00:36:25We had lots of success in front wheel drive.
00:36:27If I can try and add some rear wheel drive mastery to my fortress, then, you know, so be it.
00:36:33So, we're giving it a good shot.
00:36:34I've gone with a team, great motorsport.
00:36:36I knew very well from my time in minis.
00:36:39And I'm loving the challenge.
00:36:40It's very different.
00:36:41I'm used to being all the way up there.
00:36:42But, you know, yeah, we're making progress in little bits all the time.
00:36:46And, you know, hopefully, if we come back next year, we can fight for some more cups.
00:36:51Is there an element of frustration to that?
00:36:53Because, as you say, you're used to being at the front.
00:36:55You're used to winning, which is great.
00:36:57But I guess you've done that so many times in the minis.
00:36:59It was time for a new challenge.
00:37:00But you must at times think, hang on a minute, how much of a challenge did I need?
00:37:04Yeah, it's certainly been a bigger challenge than I ever expected.
00:37:07There's such big gaps between some of the rounds as well.
00:37:09I come back after four weeks out of the car, go back out on track, and I'm driving like a
00:37:13front-wheel drive car again.
00:37:15I'm still doing coaching and stuff in the minis as well.
00:37:17So it's taken a little while to make it natural, for sure.
00:37:21I need to get myself in a rear-wheel drive road car.
00:37:23I think maybe that might help a little bit and a bit more sim work.
00:37:26But, yeah, it's completely different.
00:37:29It's massive.
00:37:29It's anyone who can make a step up into these from front-wheel drive and be at the front.
00:37:33Hats off to them.
00:37:34I used to be a teammate with Ethan Hamilton who's in front of me for this race in mini-challenge.
00:37:38He's been able to do it and get podiums.
00:37:40So, yeah, they're following their footsteps and carry on making improvements.
00:37:44P4 is your best result so far.
00:37:46You're starting P5 in this race.
00:37:47You know where I'm going with this one.
00:37:50You know, if I can get a trophy this weekend, I take it with two hands and run.
00:37:55I think I've got the pace to try and stick with these guys.
00:37:58Whether I've got the pace across a whole race to be in the podium fight, who knows.
00:38:03But let's put on a show, show them some touring car elbows and let's see what we can do.
00:38:07Good stuff.
00:38:08Well done.
00:38:09Good luck.
00:38:09They're so low to the ground, these cars.
00:38:11Let's shut the door up.
00:38:12And I'm now going to go and have a word with Toby Trice, train driver by week during the week
00:38:17and a racing driver at weekend, which I think is fantastic.
00:38:21Now, Toby, so how's your weekend going so far?
00:38:24Slightly frustrating yesterday, wasn't it?
00:38:26You kind of went in the wrong direction.
00:38:28Yeah, it wasn't quite the weekend we had hoped.
00:38:30But having said that, we've come off the back of Knock Hill.
00:38:33Good point.
00:38:34Clean Racing has done an amazing job rebuilding the car for us this weekend.
00:38:37The car feels phenomenal.
00:38:38So I'm really looking forward to this last race of the weekend and hopefully push forward.
00:38:42So Knock Hill, very good point.
00:38:43You had a very big accident there.
00:38:45How difficult is it to get back in the car and get back on the pace again after an incident?
00:38:51Yeah, of course, it was a big crash.
00:38:5325G at 70 mile an hour into the water.
00:38:54It's pretty hard.
00:38:55But, you know, we're built like hugely resilient animals in this racing game.
00:39:00So we're here to have a lot of fun.
00:39:01I feel good to be back in the car.
00:39:02What do you reckon you're going to get from this one?
00:39:04Starting P6, how high up can you get?
00:39:06Just chatting to Dan, he's after podiums.
00:39:08You'd like some of that as well, wouldn't you?
00:39:09Oh, yeah, of course, I'm hungry for podiums.
00:39:11I mean, a win would be lovely.
00:39:12But, you know, we're hugely matched around here.
00:39:13It's very, very tight through qualifying.
00:39:15So it's going to be difficult to push forwards.
00:39:16But if we can make some early progress, manage the tyre at the end,
00:39:19hope I can nibble off a couple more and see where we end up.
00:39:21I have no doubt whatsoever that you will be giving it your all.
00:39:23So good luck with this one, Toby.
00:39:25Right, we are going to head off for a race.
00:39:26And when we come back, these guys are going to be heading out around the track.
00:39:29So make sure you come back for that.
00:39:40Less than an hour to go until the final BTCC race of the day.
00:39:44But ahead of that is our final support race with round 15 of the Porsche Sprint Race Challenge.
00:39:50Commentary now comes from Jade Edwards and David Anderson.
00:39:54Nicky, thanks.
00:39:55A grid is formed.
00:39:56It's the third race of the weekend.
00:39:57And yesterday's was a rather dramatic affair with a wet, dry race and a changing surface.
00:40:02This morning's race sadly had to be ended due to a red flag.
00:40:06But it's a massive grid, this Jade, and a really good racing prospect.
00:40:09Yeah, the good thing about this circuit is obviously it keeps the cars really close.
00:40:12And all the cars are very even as well.
00:40:14So the races we've seen this weekend are brilliant.
00:40:17So it's a one-by-one staggered grid.
00:40:19It is based on the results of the earlier race today that, as I say, was red flagged.
00:40:24And they didn't get very many laps in before the red flag.
00:40:26So one or two drivers, like Tom Bradshaw, didn't get a lot of time to make up places.
00:40:30Why did he need to make up places?
00:40:33Because in yesterday's race, he had ended up being squeezed into the barrier at the start.
00:40:37A lot of damage was done to the car.
00:40:39It was the grid on the second best qualifying time anyway.
00:40:41And he didn't do all that well in that.
00:40:43Plus the car, he was still feeling his way in.
00:40:45And after a couple of laps, race over.
00:40:48So Tom Bradshaw came here as the championship leader.
00:40:50Yesterday evening after the accident, Porsche people had to go back to Reading to get parts,
00:40:55bring them back to Silverstone.
00:40:56Toro Verdi, the team for whom he drives, had to rebuild the car overnight.
00:40:58It was a mammoth task.
00:41:01And then he finds that he runs out of laps in which to make much progress in the earlier race.
00:41:05So it's been a tough weekend for the championship leader.
00:41:07Yeah, very frustrating.
00:41:08But in a silver lining that I would find if we needed to is that I was getting messages from
00:41:14people in the paddock
00:41:15saying that the damage was so big that they can't imagine he would be out again this weekend.
00:41:19So full credit to the team and the championship for doing what they needed to do to get him back
00:41:23out.
00:41:24And hopefully he can make some ground in this final race of the weekend.
00:41:27So the car's released onto the formation lap.
00:41:31And the grid is going to have Sam Harvey, who took his first race win in the championship,
00:41:36starting on pole position.
00:41:37He was already competitive in yesterday's race that started on a wet track.
00:41:41And then as the road dried, he got shuffled down the order.
00:41:44And that race also had to be red flagged and restarted.
00:41:46So he ended up in a disappointing result yesterday, but fought back well to win the early race today.
00:41:52Jacob Toft has been a winner this year.
00:41:54He's going to be second on the grid.
00:41:55Ethan Hamilton will line up third and Joe Marshall starting fourth.
00:41:59Dan Zilos, fifth on the grid.
00:42:00We heard from him a few moments ago with Louise.
00:42:03It's been a tough season for Dan.
00:42:04Yeah, and I think he's fairly realistic in admitting that.
00:42:07He said in the interview just there that he's raced front-wheel drive for so long now that his natural
00:42:13instinct and mentality is to drive this as a front-wheel drive.
00:42:16So he's relearning that whole skill set.
00:42:18But equally, he did say as well there's quite big gaps between some of the races.
00:42:21So once he starts getting the hang of it, he then has a big four-week gap, goes coaching in
00:42:26minis and other front-wheel drive cars and gets back into this.
00:42:29And it's all learning process again.
00:42:30So fair play to him for being open and honest and being admitted that he's struggling.
00:42:34But he's no doubt going to get up there in the end.
00:42:37Indeed so.
00:42:38And then sixth on the grid, another driver we heard from earlier on.
00:42:40That's Toby Trice, the very rapid train driver.
00:42:44Other drivers to keep an eye on because you've got different classes within this.
00:42:47You've got the current iteration of the RS as well as the older Club Sport model.
00:42:53And there's a Pro and an AM in each.
00:42:55You've got Hannah Chapman, ten times a class winner in the Club Sport AM.
00:42:58Matt Kyle Henney won yesterday's race outright.
00:43:01He's in the RS AM division.
00:43:05And one of his principal rivals in that is Oliver Meadows.
00:43:10And in the Club Sport Pro section, Lydia Wormsley's had a couple of class wins.
00:43:15And you've also got people like Jonathan Moore who've been very competitive all season as well in this championship.
00:43:20So the grid is formed.
00:43:22The last man in place, the white car for Giancarlo Romano.
00:43:25So we have a 20-minute race rather than a set number of laps ahead of us.
00:43:29It is then Sam Harvey on pole position.
00:43:32Jacob Toft, a race winner this year as well, lining up second on the grid.
00:43:35Lights are red, lights quickly out.
00:43:36And he's blasted off with a good getaway made by Harvey there.
00:43:38And a good start too by Jacob Toft to try to get up the inside.
00:43:41He can't do it.
00:43:42He goes to the outside in the yellow and blue livery.
00:43:44Contact in the background as Ethan Hamilton is given a tap in the tail.
00:43:47And he gets sideways.
00:43:48Dan Zilos goes wide off the road in avoidance on the very outside of Copse Corner.
00:43:52The road opens up ahead of him, but he is going to be fourth coming out of Maggots as Harvey
00:43:57leads.
00:43:57And he goes deep into back into the race leader.
00:43:59Sam Harvey scrabbles a bit wide.
00:44:02He's just about got the race lead as they come out of the corner.
00:44:04Others in the background make a mistake as well and drift wide.
00:44:07Harvey recovered pretty well from that.
00:44:08Yeah, it's been a clean opening lap so far.
00:44:11But we saw with Ethan there, he got a little bit of contact.
00:44:14And you just instantly lose the momentum.
00:44:15And that's what you need around this circuit.
00:44:17So he drops places instantly.
00:44:18But so far, so good.
00:44:20Everyone's sort of making it around cleanly.
00:44:21And there's battles throughout.
00:44:23So three for the race lead then.
00:44:25Joe Marshall is the man in third in the black and green livery.
00:44:27Sam Harvey then comes up towards the end of lap number one in the lead, but only just.
00:44:31Jacob Toft runs second and then third as they come by.
00:44:34It is Joe Marshall, the Cheshire driver.
00:44:36Bit of a gap back to Dan Zilos in fourth place.
00:44:38So he's running well, even though he has lost a little bit of time against those up the road.
00:44:42Through Copse Corner they go.
00:44:43The other man to keep an eye on in all of this is going to be Tom Bradshaw.
00:44:47And he was eighth at the end of the opening lap, the championship leader.
00:44:50But a good first lap by Harvey.
00:44:52Absolutely.
00:44:52And I think Dan Zilos, if we think back to a year ago, he was actually in the touring car
00:44:56championship.
00:44:57And he went very well there in that championship as well.
00:44:59So he obviously likes this circuit.
00:45:01He's running well in fourth place.
00:45:02And hopefully he's going to make some ground on the top three.
00:45:04A little bit of dirt kicked up by Reece Summerfield there, coming out of Beckett's as he rounds wide.
00:45:08As the leaders again go down towards Brooklands then.
00:45:10So Sam Harvey leading the way and getting away slightly this time from Jacob Toft's third.
00:45:14You've got Joe Marshall, Dan Zilos, Ethan Hamilton fifth.
00:45:17Toby tries rounding out the top six.
00:45:19A brave effort there by Ben Mulryan to go around the outside, number 11.
00:45:23And he claims the place, coming out towards the end of that.
00:45:26Ben Mulryan battling with, amongst others, Jason Baker.
00:45:30So leaders come by.
00:45:31Sam Harvey edging away now from Jacob Toft's.
00:45:34Six tenths of a second, that margin.
00:45:36Yeah, six tenths between the top two.
00:45:38And then another bit of a chunk for third as well.
00:45:40So, yeah, as we can see, we've seen in previous races, the top two or three sort of break away.
00:45:46But it'll be a long race distance.
00:45:48We've still got, you know, 17 minutes to go.
00:45:49So it may not stay like this for long.
00:45:52No, granted.
00:45:53Toby tries in the second of those blue cars there.
00:45:55Looking for a way to get past Ethan Hamilton as they come through.
00:45:59Sam Harvey is a class leader.
00:46:00Oliver Meadows a class leader at the moment.
00:46:02So too Lydia Wormsley.
00:46:04So too Hannah Chapman.
00:46:05But Jacob Toft, at the minute, the yellow car there in second place.
00:46:08He does not have an answer to Sam Harvey, does he?
00:46:10If anything, he's going to have to start thinking about defending second place rather than going after the leader.
00:46:15Yeah, absolutely.
00:46:16The thing with this circuit, it's all about exits and momentum.
00:46:19And, you know, if you're not latched on to the rear bumper of the car ahead, it's so easy to
00:46:23then fall into the grasp of the car behind.
00:46:24And that's what we can see here with Tofts.
00:46:26As you say, he's going to start looking in his mirrors now rather than looking ahead, catching Harvey in the
00:46:31lead there.
00:46:32So Sam Harvey leads the way.
00:46:34And this is going to be quite a test of him.
00:46:35Yes, he won the earlier race, but that effectively was only after being in the lead for two laps with
00:46:40that red flag.
00:46:41Here, he's got a whole race distance ahead of him.
00:46:43And Jacob Tofts is the one pounding along behind him as they go up towards the Maggots-Beckitts sequence of
00:46:48corners.
00:46:48It was six tenths of a second.
00:46:50He's come down to three.
00:46:51So Tofts is on a mission.
00:46:52And he needs to be, not only for the race, Jade, but also for the championship.
00:46:55He wants to outscore Tom Bradshaw.
00:46:57That's Joe Marshall going very agricultural coming out of Beckett's.
00:47:00Yes, we actually saw Harvey run a bit deep and a bit wide into that corner as well.
00:47:03So I wonder if there's any sort of fluid down or something like that.
00:47:05But yeah, two cars running slightly wide there.
00:47:07But Dan Zilos right into the mix here, trying to gain a position back and take advantage of that slow
00:47:12run onto the back straight here.
00:47:14Unfortunately, not possible this lap.
00:47:15But they're now bunching right up behind him.
00:47:17We've got Toby Trice contacting to Ethan Hamilton.
00:47:20And he goes around, unfortunately.
00:47:22But they both carry on.
00:47:24They do carry on with possible damage to both.
00:47:27We'll wait and see what comes out of all of that.
00:47:28Toby Trice, I think he's trying to let Ethan Hamilton have the place back, self-censor.
00:47:32But that was on Toby, really, wasn't it?
00:47:34He tried the move.
00:47:35It didn't work.
00:47:36And that was quite a big whack that turned Ethan Hamilton around.
00:47:38Yeah, absolutely.
00:47:39I mean, we know with Toby Trice, he's not normally driver to make contact.
00:47:43But he's sort of seen a gap.
00:47:44He's gone for the inside.
00:47:45But it's always going to close here.
00:47:47Because quite often, you'll go in, veer off and come back.
00:47:50So it was almost two cars into one there.
00:47:52Again, I don't think there's any malice to that at all.
00:47:54Just a closing gap, as you can see.
00:47:55A little bit of contact on that rear quarter.
00:47:57And that's just enough with it being rear-wheel drive to send Ethan around.
00:48:01So disappointing for Ethan Hamilton.
00:48:03And Toby Trice then also drops back.
00:48:06That shuffles the order accordingly.
00:48:07So Oliver Cottom now going really well up into fifth place.
00:48:10Tom Bradshaw is up to sixth.
00:48:12So he's benefited a little bit in terms of the championship situation there.
00:48:16A few more points going his way.
00:48:17But now, look, there's a big gap opened up between Tofts and Marshalls, second to third.
00:48:22That means that Jacob can concentrate his efforts on catching Sam Harvey.
00:48:25He needs to do that for the race and for the championship.
00:48:28Seven points between Bradshaw and Tofts.
00:48:31Bradshaw is likely to gain another place or two, perhaps before the end.
00:48:34There's only one that Jacob can make up.
00:48:36And that's for the lead.
00:48:36Absolutely.
00:48:37But he's right with him now.
00:48:39And it's sort of broken off into two pairs here.
00:48:41So we've got first and second, third and fourth.
00:48:42Both pairs battling together.
00:48:44But it looks like Tofts has got really good power off the corners.
00:48:48But, yeah, Harvey's defending very, very well.
00:48:51Indeed so.
00:48:52And there going through is number 88, Oliver Meadows.
00:48:56He's the leader at the moment of the RS Am section.
00:49:00The RS is the slightly newer, slightly quicker model.
00:49:02There's a pro and an Am category within each.
00:49:04In the hippie Porsche colour scheme there is Oliver Cotten, whose grandfather used to be a very successful historic racer.
00:49:10And indeed is here this weekend to cheer on Oliver.
00:49:13Third generation in the family to go racing is Oliver.
00:49:16And for the race lead, it is just Sam Harvey ahead of Jacob Tofts.
00:49:19Some more drama over at Laffield because, yeah, possibly Jason Baker in the white car.
00:49:23Jodie Sloss returning to the championship, I think, was in the other car as the leaders dive down towards Cotten's
00:49:27corner.
00:49:28It's just Harvey ahead.
00:49:29Jacob Tofts looking quick.
00:49:30But while they're squabbling, there's a danger, isn't there, that they're going to be caught by Joe Marshall in third.
00:49:35Absolutely.
00:49:35You can see clearly that Tofts is the quicker car.
00:49:38And he's trying to find any way here to get past.
00:49:40Now, he's just trying to go wide to get the cut back down the main straight.
00:49:43But, again, Harvey just manages to get a good exit and keep that gap.
00:49:47But, like you say, if they keep battling like this, they're just going to fall into the clutches of the
00:49:51two behind.
00:49:52So, yeah, he'll have to keep an eye on trying to move forward, but without, obviously, hindering his progress.
00:49:58But they're now pretty much all together, which is the nature of this circuit.
00:50:01Although, yellow flags at the final corner and safety car.
00:50:04Indeed so.
00:50:05And all of that just before Tom Bradshaw had done a new lap record.
00:50:08Sixth place.
00:50:08This is an absolute godsend for him because, look, there's the leading quartet.
00:50:12And now they're all going to be caught by fifth and sixth.
00:50:14So the gaps will disappear.
00:50:15Tom Bradshaw's going to be right up there.
00:50:17And it's also really bad news for Sam Harvey.
00:50:20There he was trying to control the pace.
00:50:22Now, everybody's going to be on his tail.
00:50:24He's got to manage this safety car period.
00:50:26He's got to manage the restart.
00:50:28It's going to be quite a challenge.
00:50:29There's Jody Sloss' car moving again.
00:50:31But we have the safety car called by Nigel Jones, the clerk of the course.
00:50:37Let's have another look.
00:50:37She gets into the back of Jason Baker's car.
00:50:40That's quite a whack.
00:50:40And he turns Jason around and damages Jody's car as well.
00:50:44Yeah, maybe a little bit deep and wide into exit of Brooklands, which then, you know, she maybe should have
00:50:49backed out into the right.
00:50:51But, yeah, this is racing and they're super close around here.
00:50:54And, you know, this is Jody's second time in the championship and lesson learned, I'm sure, from her side.
00:50:59But she's been driving well all weekend.
00:51:00I've kept an eye on her and she's actually been putting in some pretty good times.
00:51:03To jump in at the end of a season is pretty tricky.
00:51:05But she'll be disappointed to see if a weekend end this way.
00:51:08So Jody Sloss lips down the pit lane and the damage done will put her out of the race.
00:51:13The good news is, I think, Jason Baker got going again.
00:51:16So, in theory, now that the track is clear, Jody's got going.
00:51:19We shouldn't have the safety car out for too long.
00:51:22And we'll wait and see when the lights atop it are extinguished.
00:51:25That's the indication that we're going to go racing at the end of the lap.
00:51:27There is the safety car coming towards the incident zone.
00:51:29So this will give a chance for the safety car crew just to make sure that the road is clear.
00:51:35Report back to race control and then the resumption of the race will not be too far away.
00:51:4012 minutes and counting on the clock.
00:51:42Right, Sam Harvey in the lead.
00:51:44OK, he's had a race win earlier on in the day, but in a very different circumstance.
00:51:48He wants to hang on in there.
00:51:49This is big pressure for him.
00:51:50Yeah, this is, you know, when you're in the lead of a race, you kind of get into a rhythm
00:51:54and you find your comfortable rhythm and you balance the car that's behind you.
00:51:58You sort of know where you're stronger, know where you're weaker.
00:51:59When you have a safety car come out, it resets everything.
00:52:03Some drivers really thrive on a safety car restart.
00:52:06Some, the pressure gets to them.
00:52:07So we'll see how Harvey responds to this here.
00:52:10But like you say, big pressure.
00:52:11However, he's done it up to this point and there's no reason why he can't do it for the final
00:52:1611 minutes.
00:52:17Safety car in this lap, so we are going to go back racing.
00:52:19Anyway, the Porsche Sprint Challenge started, of course, back in 2020.
00:52:24It obviously was a tough year to launch a championship in.
00:52:28It's been a bit of a slow burn, but here we are this weekend looking at 27 car grids.
00:52:32That's great for the championship.
00:52:33Absolutely.
00:52:34And that's exactly what this paddock needs is those grids that are full, one make, competitive,
00:52:39and are bringing good names into it as well.
00:52:41So we've got names that we recognise throughout the paddock and they're all, you know, door-to-door action.
00:52:46And every time we commentate on this, David, we thoroughly enjoy it.
00:52:49Absolutely.
00:52:49If you want to go GT racing as a young driver looking at it as a career, then you've got
00:52:54the opportunity.
00:52:54If you just want to go racing at good circuits in a good car, it's for you as well.
00:52:58The safety car is in.
00:52:59The green flag is ready on the start line and that means that we are good to go back racing
00:53:03here at Silverstone
00:53:04as the cars accelerate away then to get round 15.
00:53:06A Porsche Sprint Challenge underway.
00:53:08And it is going to be Sam Harvey, number 70, who leads down towards Copps Corner, being chased by Jacob
00:53:12Toffs.
00:53:13But Joe Marshall right back with them.
00:53:14This makes life difficult for Toffs, doesn't it, in the middle?
00:53:16He's got to attack and defend.
00:53:18Yes, absolutely that.
00:53:19He's got eyes ahead, eyes in the mirror.
00:53:22He's obviously wanting to move forward, but obviously without hindering his own position in terms of championship and points.
00:53:28We've also seen, just before the safety car, a fastest lap from Bradshaw, which tells me he's getting to grips
00:53:33with his repaired car.
00:53:35We might see a little bit of burst of pace from him now in some positions there.
00:53:39Ten minutes and counting then as the cars drop down towards Brooklyn.
00:53:42Toffs on the attack, Marshall on the attack, Bradshaw on the attack.
00:53:45Bradshaw, the championship leader, is in sixth.
00:53:47He's on the back of Oliver Cottoms.
00:53:48That purple and turquoise swirly hippie Porsche livery car.
00:53:52There you've got Dan Zilos in fourth.
00:53:53But there's a real battle pack, isn't there, as Bradshaw desperately tries to salvage points here with Oliver Meadows tucked
00:53:59up behind him.
00:53:59Leaders come through Woodcourt, speed building.
00:54:02You still get the feeling, maybe, that Tom Bradshaw's car is not absolutely 100%.
00:54:07After all of that overnight work, it is inevitable because he's not carving through the field in the way that
00:54:11you might have anticipated.
00:54:12No, I think any car that's had an incident like his did, it won't ever be perfect until they can
00:54:19get it back to base, strip it down properly and then rebuild it back up.
00:54:22So, like I say, credit to the team and the championship.
00:54:24But equally, you know, I've had races where you have an incident in the first race of the weekend and
00:54:29it does hinder you throughout the rest of the weekend.
00:54:31So, we'll see how he gets on, but no doubt he'll be getting a sweat on trying to move forward
00:54:36through this race.
00:54:37So, the race leading Sam Harvey has converted that lead under the safety car into the lead under green flag
00:54:42conditions very effectively.
00:54:44Jacob Toffs, then, his father, a quick Formula Ford racer a few years ago.
00:54:48Jacob Rapid, not only in real world racing, but also in eSports.
00:54:51He was one of the pace setters in the Porsche Carrera Cup eSports Championship during the winter months.
00:54:56He runs second and so as the cars come out of Woodcourt, the lead gap last time was three tenths
00:55:02of a second.
00:55:02It's up to four tenths of a second.
00:55:04It doesn't sound like much of a game, but it's an important one, isn't it?
00:55:07And psychologically, it's important.
00:55:09In driver's terms, that's exactly what you want to see is the gap getting bigger.
00:55:13And fair play.
00:55:14Harvey has done an absolute textbook restart here.
00:55:17He's gained a gap.
00:55:19He's kept it calm.
00:55:20You know, made no mistakes and he's just slowly chipping away here.
00:55:23So four tenths, especially around here as well, is the sort of gap that you want to start building.
00:55:28Lydia Wormsley here, a class leader number 82, keeping Jonathan Moore at bay.
00:55:33Now, this is for the Club Sport Pro Division.
00:55:36Jonathan Moore leads the championship from Lydia Wormsley.
00:55:38He's been very successful this year, but Lydia, we know he's quick.
00:55:40We've seen that in the mini-challenge in the past.
00:55:43And there she is, fending off Jonathan Moore as they make that run again.
00:55:46Now, down towards Brooklands, Jonathan Moore is on the attack 11 times a class winner this season.
00:55:51And Lydia Wormsley, in contrast, has only had a couple of victories.
00:55:54But she's after a third here and she's making that car as wide as she can.
00:55:58Absolutely.
00:55:58Lydia's always been pretty quick around this circuit and enjoyed it in her previous championships that she's raced in.
00:56:03But she's driving really, really well here.
00:56:05She's just defending nice.
00:56:06You can see her little look in her mirror there just to see where he was.
00:56:09She'll be now concentrating on to turn one, getting the best run out you can.
00:56:12Like I say, it's all about getting the exits around this circuit.
00:56:16And that is the white car of Jason Baker, recovering after being tagged into that spin early on, carving its
00:56:21way through.
00:56:22And there's no shame in that because that is a different spec in a sense, isn't it?
00:56:26That is one of the newer RS cars.
00:56:29Now Jonathan Moore gets up the inside to get ahead of Lydia.
00:56:31Ahead at Maggots, but on the outside line for Beckett.
00:56:34So Lydia Wormsley on the inside line, just hanging onto the place.
00:56:37Jonathan Moore may have a quicker car, but he's on the longer line on the outside.
00:56:41Absolutely, but he's now on the inside for the next corner.
00:56:43So he's actually hung around the outside perfectly there.
00:56:45Lydia gave him room, but it now means he's on the inside for the next one, which she should get
00:56:49the position.
00:56:50But Lydia hopefully trying to hang it around the outside.
00:56:53Yep, hopefully they give each other enough room.
00:56:55Doesn't run too wide.
00:56:56Unfortunately, she just drops in behind him.
00:56:58A great move by Moore there.
00:57:00It sort of started three corners back.
00:57:02And that's the nature of the circuit, isn't it?
00:57:04Because it's a short lap.
00:57:05It's a sort of switch back in as much as it goes left and it goes right.
00:57:08And the Beckett hairpin is so important to the lap.
00:57:11You start a move coming out of this corner and it sort of finishes on the way down to the
00:57:14cocks.
00:57:15You start it.
00:57:16It can take almost a full lap to complete.
00:57:17Harvey versus Tofts for the race lead.
00:57:20This has been a really impressive drive by Sam Harvey.
00:57:23Yesterday he lost out with the changeable conditions and a red flag.
00:57:26The earlier win, okay, was a win.
00:57:28Got the points, but it didn't last very long that race.
00:57:31Whereas here he's driving very impressively.
00:57:33Oliver Meadows, in the meantime, a little bit further back, is seventh.
00:57:36But he is leading his class and he's staying on the back of the pros out of the RS.
00:57:41Yeah, I'd imagine he's probably trying to latch onto them to stay with them, to drag him around as such,
00:57:45but not necessarily wanting to get too involved in terms of them being in a different class.
00:57:50So, yeah, trying to run with them, but equally not risking much himself either.
00:57:55But it's good.
00:57:56I love this circuit.
00:57:57It keeps all the cars together.
00:57:57As you can see here, you know, they're all sticking together.
00:58:00One lap, there's a four-tenths gap.
00:58:02Next lap, it's two-tenths.
00:58:03You know, it's a bit like karting, you know.
00:58:05It's that sense of you don't necessarily want to be in the lead on the last lap round.
00:58:08And the other great thing about Silverstone is it's a good wide circuit.
00:58:11And that means that you can run side by side.
00:58:13And there is room to pull off a move.
00:58:15And we've seen plenty of it across not just Porsche racing this weekend,
00:58:18but all the other categories here as well, touring cars to F4.
00:58:21So, it remains Sam Harvey under attack.
00:58:25He's got five minutes on the clock.
00:58:27Joe Marshall is the one creeping back onto the tail of Jacob Toft,
00:58:29almost into the tail of Jacob Toft.
00:58:31And as Toft tries to sort that moment out,
00:58:34so he's caught onto the back of Harvey.
00:58:36And Marshall in turn has got Zenos behind him.
00:58:38Bradshaw goes fifth.
00:58:39Finally, he wriggles past Oliver Cotterman and gains a place.
00:58:42But in other words, the queue of cars behind the leading Sam Harvey.
00:58:46Cayman, it's getting longer all the time.
00:58:47Yeah, absolutely.
00:58:48He's becoming a little bit of a cork in the bottle here,
00:58:50but he's soaking up the pressure so well.
00:58:53He's just managing the gap perfectly.
00:58:54And that's what we want to see.
00:58:55But like you say, with Bradshaw, he sort of made the move there.
00:58:58Got a little bit squirrelly, but, you know,
00:59:00was given room and got the place ahead.
00:59:02But he's now got a little bit of a gap before he catches Dan Zenos.
00:59:06To the hairpin of Beckett's, they go then.
00:59:07And it is still Harvey ahead.
00:59:09Bradshaw's virtually up with Zenos already, isn't it?
00:59:11He's got pretty much onto the tail of Dan Zenos in fourth place under Breaking.
00:59:15Now let's see when we can think about making a move.
00:59:19That's Hannah Chapman going through.
00:59:20She is leading the Club Sport Am division.
00:59:22Yet again, this would be for Hannah a 11th victory of the season.
00:59:30And she's edging ever closer to winning that class in the championship.
00:59:33And she's had a great year.
00:59:33She has had a brilliant year.
00:59:35She had a few seasons out.
00:59:37She used to drive front-wheel drive minis.
00:59:39And now she's back in this.
00:59:40And she works so hard for her racing.
00:59:42I mean, the stress she has Monday to Friday to find the money to race each round.
00:59:46She actually said she wasn't sure if she'd make it out for this one.
00:59:49And I'm sure the story will be the same for brands.
00:59:51But she's leading the championship.
00:59:52She's not put a foot wrong.
00:59:54She's winning, winning, winning.
00:59:55And it would be a real shame if she then can't find enough funds for the final round.
00:59:59Based in Dunfermline.
01:00:00So apart from Lockheel, everywhere is a bit of a track, which will add to the cost.
01:00:03Bit of a twitch under braking there, Sam Harvey, as he fights the car into Beckett's.
01:00:07And look at the way that Dan Zilos now has latched onto the back of Marshall for third.
01:00:11Because he's got Bradshaw right up behind him.
01:00:13So right now, third, fourth, fifth, absolutely together.
01:00:17The clock says three minutes and change as they come under the vehicle bridge.
01:00:20Down towards Brooklands.
01:00:21Harvey, a little bit further ahead this time, maybe.
01:00:23Absolutely.
01:00:24He's got a little bit of a gap.
01:00:25And Marshall keeps making that sort of half-hearted effort, showing his nose.
01:00:28Which, you know, I get what he's trying to do.
01:00:30He's maybe just trying to off-put Toffs a little bit.
01:00:32But it's also hindering him a little bit.
01:00:34I think if he was just committed a little bit.
01:00:37He ran wide there through the gravel.
01:00:38Again, we're going to see momentum here.
01:00:40Dan Zilos is going to get on the back of him.
01:00:41Unless he backed out as well, just in case of him coming across the track.
01:00:45But moving to the inside.
01:00:47There's a couple of movements there across the circuit.
01:00:49But he's right on his back bumper.
01:00:50We get the cut back into Turn 2-3.
01:00:53And while they're squabbling like this, it throws a lifeline in the direction of Tom Bradshaw, doesn't it?
01:00:57In fifth, Tom was a winner here a couple of months back in historic Formula 1.
01:01:01McLaren's now in Porsches.
01:01:02He's trying to get himself up to at least fourth, maybe even third.
01:01:05But he's running out of time.
01:01:07Harrison Cavers has got a five-second penalty for track limit abuses further down the order.
01:01:10But all eyes on third and fourth and fifth right now.
01:01:13There's no way Marshall's going to do that half-fake to the inside.
01:01:16Because he's having to defend, and that means the pressure is taken off Toft.
01:01:19Marshall does like that line, though.
01:01:20He's already defending.
01:01:21Yeah, I actually just watched him there when he's got some free air in front of him.
01:01:24I think he just has a slightly different line to everyone else, which makes him look like he's going for
01:01:27a little lunge.
01:01:28But actually, it takes a slightly different line.
01:01:30But, yeah, he's now, unfortunately, got his eyes in his mirrors full of Dan Zelos and Bradshaw, which is two
01:01:36names in this championship you wouldn't necessarily want directly behind you, because they're both competitive, both strong.
01:01:41But with a minute and 52 to go, he's just got to hold his breath and hang on as best
01:01:46he can.
01:01:46Sam Harvey, though, still leads the way.
01:01:49It's been a mighty drive to hang on to the race leaders.
01:01:51Dan Zelos goes really wide, coming out of Cobb's corner.
01:01:53That might give a chance to Bradshaw, Luke, who's almost level coming up towards Maggots on the outside, but he
01:01:58couldn't stay there, so he can't attack on the inside of Beckett's, which is where you see Sam Harvey, the
01:02:02leader, fending off this challenge of Jacob Toft, as he has done for the last 17 and a half minutes.
01:02:09Down they come towards Brooklands once again.
01:02:11This is lap number 19, and there's a back marker ahead.
01:02:15It's Alistair Weston.
01:02:16Is that going to trip up Sam Harvey shouldn't do?
01:02:19He might just be a bit more cautious, but he gets through okay on the inside.
01:02:23So does Toft, so does Marshall, so does Zelos.
01:02:25Tom Bradshaw's going to get past Alistair Weston, who, in fairness, is doing his absolute level best not to get
01:02:30in anybody's way.
01:02:31They're coming up towards the timing line, and we'll see in a moment when they break the beam.
01:02:36Is it going to be the last lap through?
01:02:38They have gone.
01:02:38It's going to be touch and go, this, because that last lap was about 57 seconds, and there were about
01:02:4257 seconds on the clock when they came through.
01:02:45Harvey would love this to be the last lap.
01:02:47Bradshaw would like another one.
01:02:48Absolutely, and that's the difference between the grid, but, yeah, they might just sneak through an extra lap there, which,
01:02:52like you said,
01:02:53Harvey would just be rolling his eyes as he's crashing up.
01:02:55We go, not another one, but, yeah, it's, yeah, credit to Alex Weston there getting out of the way and
01:03:01causing no harm there.
01:03:02It's always a difference getting through the traffic here and seeing which drivers are a little bit better than others,
01:03:06but, yeah, he did his best job of getting out of the way and caused no trouble between those front
01:03:10runners.
01:03:11So down they dive towards Brooklands, and here, look, another back marker ahead.
01:03:16It's Katia Loggi, and Sam Harvey is going to have to commit, but Katia Loggi doesn't know which way to
01:03:21go.
01:03:21She gets out of the way now.
01:03:22Up the inside dives Harvey.
01:03:24Ten seconds on the clock.
01:03:26It's Tofts in second.
01:03:27Marshall's back with them third.
01:03:28Then it's Zelos.
01:03:28Then it's Bradshaw.
01:03:29Six, five, up to the line.
01:03:31Checkered flag is ready.
01:03:33And two seconds, one second.
01:03:34Over the line they go.
01:03:35That was pretty much on 20 minutes.
01:03:39If he knew, he would have had a little lift just on the exit there, just to give it a
01:03:42miss.
01:03:43Oh, it was.
01:03:44They're going to be given one more lap.
01:03:45They got through with, I think, just a fraction of a second to spare.
01:03:49Certainly the checkered flag logo has not been issued by the timekeeping force.
01:03:53So, one more lap.
01:03:54Yeah, as you say, a tiny lift.
01:03:55That would have done it.
01:03:56I thought Katia Loggi, just impeding the pace slightly, might have tipped them through.
01:04:00But, look, last lap, and all of a sudden Harvey's got a gap.
01:04:02Yeah, he's got a big gap.
01:04:03And now Topps is actually under pressure from Marshall, so it's all switched at the front as well.
01:04:08And this is what, again, like I love about Silverstone, is it just brings everyone back together.
01:04:12And it is, that line is very slightly different to the other, so it makes it look like a little
01:04:15lunge.
01:04:16But, actually, no, it's just sitting pretty there in third.
01:04:18But, it looks like Harvey has managed to stay calm and take the win.
01:04:24And he's driven absolutely superbly to do that under all of that pressure.
01:04:29Race three of the weekend, and a second win for Sam Harvey.
01:04:32Fantastic result, and that he had to work very hard for indeed.
01:04:36Sam Harvey wins it from Jacob Toft.
01:04:38Joe Marshall takes third ahead of Dan Zilos, and then Tom Bradshaw with Oliver Cotton rounding out the top six.
01:04:43Seventh is a class winning Oliver Meadows.
01:04:46Jonathan Moore there has got past Lydia Walmsley.
01:04:48So, this is going to be for Club Sport Pro Honours, and it is 18th and 19th overall.
01:04:55Jonathan Moore ahead of Lydia Walmsley then, as they now accelerate their way up towards the timing line.
01:05:03So, there is Jonathan Moore powering his way towards the line, and a 12th class win of the season.
01:05:08A really good effort, and Jonathan Moore celebrates.
01:05:12And there in the background, in the red-nosed car, Hannah Chapman, and she comes through to take another class
01:05:17win as well.
01:05:18The former Mini racer, the Dunfermline-based driver, champion elect in her class in the championship.
01:05:24I can't see, with some crude mouth, anybody beating her.
01:05:28So, provisionally, Hannah Chapman wins her class in the championship, but a race win for Sam Harvey.
01:05:33And to do that, with all of that pressure, and to have to control the safety car, we're talking about
01:05:38this as though it's his first win.
01:05:39It's, in a sense, his first proper win, because the earlier race did so few laps before a stoppage.
01:05:44But that was a really impressive drive.
01:05:46Yeah, it's his second win, technically, but circumstantial.
01:05:49He had to work a lot harder for that one.
01:05:51It wasn't an easy race, he had pressure throughout, he had safety cars to deal with, and he would have
01:05:55learned a lot from that race.
01:05:56And now, they say that your first win that you get makes the second and third easier.
01:06:01And that's the win that he will now take from that, and hopefully, many more to come.
01:06:06Jonathan Moore has won the Club Sport Pro Championship, we understand, as well.
01:06:09But for the RS division, Pro and Am, it can go down to the wire at Brands Hatch in two
01:06:15weeks' time.
01:06:16And who knows what the weather gods will have in store for us there.
01:06:19Well, I was in shorts on Friday here, and I'm now in a big coat, so, yeah, let's see.
01:06:24We'll find out.
01:06:25Right, Sam Harvey, in the meantime, celebrates a race win, and that will mean a lot more to him.
01:06:30It's starting to sink in, isn't it?
01:06:32The earlier race today, as I say, was very few laps with a red flag, but the result was declared
01:06:36that he had to work hard for.
01:06:38And Hannah Chapman taking a class win.
01:06:39Quick word about Matt Kyle Henney, as well, who won the race outright yesterday as an RS Am driver.
01:06:45Right tyre choice did it for him.
01:06:47So, it is then Sam Harvey who takes the race win from Jacob Tofts and Joe Marshall to round out
01:06:54the top three.
01:06:56Fourth, Dan Zelos, ahead of Tom Bradshaw, fifth.
01:06:58Oliver Cotton, sixth, with then seventh, a class-winning Oliver Meadows.
01:07:02Ben Mulrion, eighth, ahead of Matt Kyle Henney, who won race one yesterday.
01:07:06And Rhys Sammerfield rounding out the top ten.
01:07:09Toby Trice, after his dramas with Ethan Hamilton earlier on, 11th.
01:07:12And Ethan Hamilton, 12th, ahead of Dan Lewis, Chris Bingham, and Amy Watts in 15th.
01:07:17Dean Burden was next, ahead of Jason Baker, who recovered after being tapped into that spin.
01:07:21Jonathan Moore won his class in 18th.
01:07:22And Lydia Wormsley, 19th, ahead of another class winner, Hannah Chapman.
01:07:2721st, Harrison Cavers with his time penalty, ahead of Paul Porter.
01:07:31And then Katja Loggi, Alistair Weston, and Giancarlo Romano, a lap down.
01:07:37So, a race win for Sam Harvey.
01:07:39And as far as the championship is concerned, that puts him now fourth in pro in RS.
01:07:45But Tom Bradshaw leads Jacob Tofts by nine points.
01:07:49Joe Marshall, third, and then Sam Harvey, fourth now, three ahead of Toby Trice.
01:07:53Oliver Meadows is 25 points clear of Matt Kyle Henney in RS.
01:07:57And with Rhys Sammerfield in third.
01:07:59And then we have the club sport sections with new champions.
01:08:03Jonathan Moore has won the pro.
01:08:04And Hannah Chapman has won the AM with one event and three races to spare.
01:08:11So, some good racing from our Porsche Sprint Challenge drivers.
01:08:16And it is a very happy Sam Harvey.
01:08:19He is victorious in our final Porsche race of the weekend.
01:08:22And there's more action from Silverstone after the break.
01:08:33Round 15 of the Porsche Sprint Challenge got underway with Sam Harvey at the front.
01:08:38And despite a strong challenge from Jacob Tofts, Sam Harvey takes his second win of the season.
01:08:44Much to the delight of his team, Zentec Motorsport.
01:08:48And I am delighted to say that Sam is joining me now.
01:08:52It was a lights-to-flag victory, but it was a tough one, wasn't it?
01:08:56I mean, Jacob really made you work for that win.
01:08:58Oh, he did.
01:08:59Yeah, it was, as you said, he made me work for it right from lights out.
01:09:03I knew what I had to do.
01:09:04I just got my head down and I managed to get the job done.
01:09:07You know, the car was absolutely amazing.
01:09:09So thank you to Zentec.
01:09:10You know, they've given me the ultimate package this weekend.
01:09:13They're my sponsors for being here as well.
01:09:14I wouldn't be able to do it without them.
01:09:16But, yeah, well done to everyone behind.
01:09:18Jacob, you put on an absolute amazing battle.
01:09:20You know, I was really hoping for that last lap, every lap.
01:09:24And I managed to get my head down and get it done.
01:09:26I just made my car as wide as possible.
01:09:28And, yeah, we came here with two wins and a pole position this weekend.
01:09:31So I can't be more than happy with that.
01:09:33Yeah, we did wonder whether that last lap was actually going to go ahead,
01:09:36whether it was a chequered flag or not.
01:09:37But you managed to hold on.
01:09:38Yeah, I came around and I didn't see the last lap board.
01:09:41So I thought, Christ, I've got another one to go.
01:09:44And luckily the chequered flag came out and I saw it at the last second
01:09:48and I knew I'd done it.
01:09:49Brilliant. Huge congratulations.
01:09:51Well done. Thank you.
01:09:53Right, let's bring in Jacob Toffs.
01:09:55I mean, again, you pushed so, so hard.
01:09:58You can see Sam's absolutely exhausted from that race.
01:10:01How do you reflect on it?
01:10:02Yeah, it was a really enjoyable race.
01:10:05Of course, disappointed not to win.
01:10:06But Sam drove really well and I'm really happy for him to get his first win this afternoon.
01:10:11It was also loads of fun with Joe.
01:10:13My car's a bit shorter, but it was all good.
01:10:16Yeah, he was really putting the pressure on there in the closing laps, wasn't he?
01:10:21Yeah, towards the end of the race, we started to catch some of the club sports.
01:10:25And then that's when I knew it would get hairy, so maybe an opportunity was a rise.
01:10:29But it didn't quite, I felt like we got close.
01:10:31But yeah, it was all good, all clean.
01:10:34Well, well done.
01:10:34Second in the championship standings at the moment.
01:10:36Thank you very much.
01:10:38Let's bring Joe in as well.
01:10:40Joe, come and join us.
01:10:41We were just talking.
01:10:43Jacob was saying that you were piling on the pressure there at one point.
01:10:46Yeah, well, we had a great start.
01:10:48I had a bit of contact with Ethan into turn one, so I had a lot of damage on the
01:10:52front left,
01:10:52which means I was struggling to turn right into the corners.
01:10:55So my rigs were hindered from there, really.
01:10:57But yeah, I tried to stick the pressure on.
01:10:59I think Harvey was trying to back up the pack so I could try to go with Jacob.
01:11:03But yeah, it didn't quite work out.
01:11:04But no, P3, really good points.
01:11:06So yeah.
01:11:06You had Zelos and Bradshaw in your mirrors as well.
01:11:09I think I went off about five times because I couldn't quite turn the car.
01:11:12So Zelos was right on me.
01:11:13But yeah, I managed to defend from him.
01:11:16Yeah, P3, I think we had the pace for a really good qualifying, but we had gearbox issues.
01:11:21So we've just been chasing that all the way through the weekend.
01:11:24So yeah, but yeah, really happy to have a P3.
01:11:26Big thanks to Weir, big thanks to Team Parker and Roland Brands Hatch.
01:11:29Exactly, indeed.
01:11:30We'll see you in two weeks.
01:11:31Congratulations.
01:11:32Thank you very much.
01:11:33But before we head to Brands Hatch in two weeks, we have a third and final race here at Silverstone.
01:11:39Don't go anywhere because after the break, we will find out whether Ash Sutton can keep his championship title hopes
01:11:45alive.
