Brake failure cause of fatal lorry crash at Bukit Kajang Toll Plaza, say cops

A multi-vehicle crash that killed a one-year-old boy and injured eight others at the Bukit Kajang Toll Plaza on Saturday (Sept 27) is believed to have been caused by a lorry’s brake failure.  Kajang police chief Asst Comm Naazron Abdul Yusof said preliminary investigations found that the lorry, which was travelling from Semenyih towards Putrajaya, lost control due to faulty brakes before ramming into three vehicles waiting at the toll lanes. 00:55The case is being investigated under Section 41, Subsection 1 of the Road Transport Act

01:011987 for reckless or dangerous driving causing death.

01:06If convicted, the driver faces five to ten years imprisonment, a fine of up to RM50,000

01:12and disqualification from holding a driving licence for at least five years.
