00:08Welcome to MojoPlays, and today we're counting down our picks for the 10 hardest boss fights
00:13from across the extensive catalog of Batman video games.
00:23Before we begin, we publish new content all week long, so be sure to subscribe and ring the bell
00:28to be notified about our latest videos.
00:32The Riddler, Batman the Animated Series for Game Boy
00:36Yes, if you happen to be super good at this boss battle against the Riddler,
00:40then you can wrap it up quickly, but make no mistake about it.
00:43The Riddler's mischievous tricks will give Batman plenty of trouble.
00:47The boss arena is very small, made even tougher to contend with,
00:51given the small handheld screen space of the Game Boy, giving Batman little room to move around.
00:56Then you must figure out which Riddler version of himself is the actual real one to pummel.
01:01It takes some quick thinking and quick reflexes if you hope to best this riddling fool.
01:15The Joker, Final Battle, Batman Vengeance
01:24Who would have thought that a final battle against the Joker would be tough, right?
01:28Insert sarcasm here, by the way.
01:30Batman Vengeance serves up a two-part boss fight against this time-tested villain,
01:34who is a lot more nimble than you might expect.
01:37The first part sees you needing to scrap with the Joker in a small arena,
01:41where landing your punches is no easy feat, especially when he takes you to the ground to
01:46smash you in the face. Part 2 is bizarre, in that it sees Batman and the Joker seemingly
01:51falling through a misty red vortex as he fires his Tommy gun at you. Avoiding his attacks,
01:57while landing hits of your own is certainly a doozy of a task.
02:08Ross Al Ghul, Batman Dark Tomorrow The cutscene that plays after you finally defeat this prim and
02:14proper sword fighter sure makes this duel look a heck of a lot cooler than it actually is when you
02:19are playing it.
02:20Much of the challenge of this boss battle comes down to battling the controls and wonky camera,
02:25more so than actually fighting Ross Al Ghul as Batman with a sword.
02:29Ross Al Ghul's health bar is quite large, and he swipes at you just as easily that you can hit
02:34him.
02:35Each time one of you lands a sword hit, the camera shifts perspective, which is disorienting to say the least.
02:41Now this is one of those tough boss fights that is essentially a battle of attrition,
02:46as you whittle away at the villain's health pool or him at yours. Gotta say though,
02:50the boss battle music is super epic, reminding me a lot of something from
02:54say Midnight Syndicate or Nox Arcana. Good stuff.
03:08Deathstroke, Batman Arkham Origins It appears the game is over before it even
03:14begins. I'm not playing games, Slade. This boss battle against Slade, aka Deathstroke, might be
03:24one of the most brutal around. While not the hardest one in Arkham Origins, more on that later
03:29in this list, Deathstroke is certainly no pushover, not at all. This dude is just a tank through and
03:35through, able to withstand Batman's crushing blows over and over again. Now this one is hard because
03:41it demands absolute perfection with the game's free flowing fisticuff combat in tandem with nimble
03:47movements in order to hopefully evade Deathstroke's many powerful attacks. Heck, even when Batman breaks
03:53Deathstroke's staff in two, he then just pulls out a sword for the second round. Good luck indeed.
04:07The Penguin Final Battle, Batman Returns for the Super Nintendo. This portly British bloke is
04:13essentially a dastardly nefarious version of something like Mary Poppins, as he swiftly hovers
04:18around the grimy boss arena with his measly, skeletal-looking umbrella. It's hard to think
04:23a pudgy villain like him would be so agile. Yep, he is. As if his swiftness and soaring wasn't enough
04:30to contend with, he also fires out umbrella missiles that can wreak havoc if Batman isn't careful.
04:35The goal here is to grab the Penguin when he slows down, smashing him into the ground. Oh,
04:40and of course, don't forget to land some punches to his face when the opportunity presents itself.
04:52Poison Ivy Batman Arkham Asylum
05:01Gosh, I remember having such a challenging time fighting Poison Ivy when I first played Arkham
05:07Asylum back in the very early 2010s. She was the first major hurdle I encountered when playing
05:12through this top-tier Batman game. It's a punishing battle all around, as she controls her massive,
05:18tendril, alien-like, Venus flytrap-esque plant monster. I don't know what it is, but it is pretty creepy.
05:24Quick dodges and a plethora of batarangs will be your friend, since it's really the only way to deal
05:29damage to her way up high in the greenhouse. Eventually, she gets mad enough that she brings
05:34up asylum guards slash goons to attack you. It's a lot to manage at once, so it's imperative you stay
05:41mobile and attack whenever you get the chance. Mad Hatter, the Adventures of Batman and Robin for
05:56Sega Genesis. This wild and almost whimsical boss battle reminds me of something straight out of a
06:02treasure-developed Gunstar Heroes-esque game mixed with something like the Turbo Tunnels level in
06:07Battletoads. While this is one of the shortest boss fights on this list, it's no less impressive or
06:13challenging. Dodging the obstacles on the moving floor and the Mad Hatter's attacks takes precision
06:19and skill, all while you must land your own hits over and over again until he is defeated.
06:30Mr. Freeze, Batman Arkham City
06:33I hear you, Batman.
06:41Where did you?
06:45Ah, Victor, why must you give Batman such a cold reception? Gosh, this might be one of the coolest
06:51boss battles of all in any Batman video game full stop. Instead of just a traditional fight where
06:56you duke it out with your fists or bat gadgets, Mr. Freeze's battle plays out more like a sort of
07:02stealthy puzzle segment, one that requires you to use a wide assortment of your gadgets and items
07:07while getting familiarized with the nooks and crannies of the now-frozen Gotham Police Department.
07:13Now, to be fair to Victor, he just wants to get his wife, Nora, back. So, it explains why he
07:18is of
07:18course so angry and determined. Batman must constantly switch up tactics around the environment
07:23in order to get an opening to pummel Mr. Freeze in the face.
07:34The Joker Batman for NES
07:36There's no way we can only feature one Joker boss fight on this list. This version of Joker from the
07:41NES Batman game is absolutely relentless. He calls down Zeus like lightning, fires his gun at Batman
07:48over and over and swiftly moves about the small arena. Like many boss fights of this NES era,
07:54it's really, really short if you know what to do. But for all of us mere mortals out there,
07:59the Joker's final battle in this game isn't for the faint of heart.
08:09Bane TN1 Batman Arkham Origins
08:20This massive, multi-phase, climactic battle might be the Bane of Arkham fans' existence due to how
08:26punishing and grueling it is. I mean, don't get us wrong, we love this fight. It's so darn epic.
08:31Spread across multiple distinct phases that will test all of your Batman skills.
08:36A kaboomy heart monitor, loads of electricity, oodles of punches, the TN1 venom, and more await
08:42you in this crazy fight. Now, this one is tough because it's a battle of sheer attrition as you
08:47switch from one phase to the next, never having much of a reprieve to regain your composure.
08:52The goal, here at least in theory, is to overload Bane's heart monitor in order to defeat him.
08:57And once you've done that, or thought you did that, Bane hulkifies himself with the TN1 venom
09:03to become even more of a brutish beast that Batman must stealthily deal with around the haunting and
09:08grimy prison. It's a fantastic, lengthy boss battle that will test all of your patience,
09:13your resolve, and all of your skills.
09:28So, do you agree with our picks for this list? Who are some of the hardest bosses you faced off
09:32against in Batman games? Let us know in the comments.
