00:07Welcome to MojoPlays, and today we're looking at the 50 hardest items to unlock across the Legend of Zelda.
00:14However, we aren't including any pieces of heart, nor any unlockable abilities, unless they're tied directly to an item.
00:27Armor of Awakening Set
00:29The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom
00:31Themed after the 2019 Link's Awakening remake, the Armor of Awakening is the hardest of Link's classic outfits to unlock
00:39in Tears of the Kingdom.
00:40Inside the Garambi River Cave in the Elden region, Link will find a riddle from the legendary bandit, Misko,
00:46which leads him to a spot in the Tabantha frontier, guarded by a Flame Gliok.
00:57Here, he finds a cave with the Tunic of Awakening and another riddle, this one leading to the Colosseum Ruins,
01:03which are guarded by a Thunder Gliok.
01:06After solving a puzzle and gaining the trousers, the final riddle takes you to the Thundra Plateau for the final
01:11piece.
01:12Thankfully, no Gliok, just a somewhat tricky puzzle that requires Link to fuse several logs together to create the proper
01:19shadow at the proper time of day.
01:27Fill up Coupon
01:29The Legend of Zelda The Wind Waker
01:31The shopkeeper Beetle made his debut in The Wind Waker, sailing his boats around the many islands of the Great
01:37Sea.
01:39He sells a variety of goods depending on location and your point in the story, but one item most players
01:46never get to see is the Fill Up Coupon.
01:49Beetle sends this to Link in the mail only after he has made 60 purchases.
01:54When cashing it in, the coupon refills Link's arrows, bombs, health, and magic meter.
02:05While the method of earning it isn't necessarily hard, 60 is a pretty high number.
02:11Some of what he sells, like bombs and arrows, can be found for free elsewhere, so you actually have to
02:17go out of your way to waste money to reach such a high amount.
02:21Golden Scale
02:22The Legend of Zelda
02:23Ocarina of Time
02:24Fishing can be a little tricky in Ocarina of Time, requiring a bit more patience than some of us were
02:30willing to have, especially as kids.
02:32As young Link, you can visit the Lake Hylia Fishing Hole and fish to your heart's content for 20 rupees.
02:44If you happen to break the establishment's record for biggest fish by at least 4 pounds, the owner will award
02:50you with a piece of heart.
02:52You have to do this part first, and then go back to the fishing hole once Link is an adult.
02:56Then, you just have to beat your own record by another 4 pounds in order to get the Golden Scale,
03:01which allows Link to dive much deeper than before.
03:11Magic Armor
03:12The Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess
03:14Some items are hard to unlock because they're expensive, others force you to do something tedious.
03:20The magic armor from Twilight Princess is both.
03:27Roar!
03:29About halfway through the story, Link can begin donating rupees to a Goron in Kakariko Village's Malo Mart.
03:35You must give him 1,000 in order to repair a broken bridge leading to Hyrule's castle town.
03:40After that, you can either donate 2,000 more so that Malo can buy the overpriced shop there,
03:46or you can complete a different quest for another Goron, who asks Link to help his son.
03:51Doing so requires carrying a barrel of hot spring water across Hyrule Field without any way to defend yourself from
03:57the monsters trying to knock it to the ground.
04:00It's a pain, but gets you a piece of heart and reduces the donation price to 200 rupees.
04:05And as long as you still have 598 left over, you can then purchase the magic armor from Malo Mart's
04:12new branch,
04:13which negates all damage by siphoning money while Link wears it.
04:21Big Catch Lure
04:22The Legend of Zelda Phantom Hourglass
04:25Yes, another fishing prize, but this one requires a bit more work than the Golden Scale.
04:30First, you have to actually unlock fishing by completing a side quest on Bannon Island.
04:35Link gets the fishing rod after introducing the old wayfarer to the quote-unquote mermaid, Joanne.
04:47In order for him to give Link the Big Catch Lure, you have to catch a Luvar.
04:52This fish is much more rare than the other two possible catches,
04:56and the act of fishing requires different motions with the stylus and touchscreen at different moments.
05:02Once you get the Big Catch Lure, the Luvar becomes common, and even more rare fish start to appear.
05:13Magical Sword
05:14The Legend of Zelda
05:15The original Legend of Zelda is a pretty damn hard game,
05:18but most of the items Link can collect appear naturally as you progress.
05:22The Magical Sword is a different story.
05:30Link can find an old man underneath a specific gravestone in a graveyard that spans several screens.
05:36The closest path leading to this graveyard is the Lost Woods,
05:40which, of course, requires you to know the proper way through without starting over.
05:44Even after making it through and finding the exact grave,
05:48Link still needs 12 heart containers before the old man will give him the sword.
05:53This game is old enough that die-hard fans have pretty much everything memorized,
05:58but for most players, you'd have no idea it was there without a guide.
06:02Largest Quiver
06:03The Legend of Zelda Majora's Mask
06:06Carrying capacity upgrades are found in plenty of older Zelda games,
06:10but going for the bigger quivers in Majora's Mask takes quite a bit of archery skill.
06:19There are two shooting galleries in the game,
06:21one in Clock Town and one on the road to the Southern Swamp,
06:25and you have to do both to get the largest quiver, which holds 50 arrows.
06:29For the first, Link gains points by shooting red Octoroks and avoiding blue ones,
06:34which lose him points.
06:35A score of 40 will get you the upgrade.
06:37For the Swamp Shooting Gallery, Link fires at Deku Scrubs before they burrow underground,
06:42but must also aim for flying guays and wolfos that run across the screen.
06:47You have to get a perfect score of 2,120 points before the time runs out,
06:54which will get you the second upgrade.
07:01Charging Horn
07:02The Legend of Zelda Echoes of Wisdom
07:04Horseback obstacle courses can often provide a tough challenge,
07:08and the one from Echoes of Wisdom won't be the last one on the list.
07:12After completing a side quest to get your own horse,
07:14you can partake in three flag races at the ranch.
07:18There are two rewards for each one,
07:20earned after beating the course under certain time limits.
07:29While the first flag race is relatively easy,
07:32the second and third are frustrating.
07:34Although you can use Zelda's Bind ability to move certain things out of your way,
07:38it still takes very precise timing and navigation to get through quickly.
07:42For the third and longest course,
07:45you have to cross the finish line in under 40 seconds,
07:48getting you the Charging Horn,
07:49which increases your horse's attack power when dashing into enemies.
07:57The Final Bottle
07:59The Legend of Zelda, A Link to the Past
08:01Getting the first three empty bottles in A Link to the Past is easy,
08:05as Nintendo wanted players to be able to carry several potions and fairies at a time.
08:16But the last bottle,
08:17that one is for completionists.
08:19You first need to rescue one of two dwarven swordsmiths from the Dark World,
08:23who naturally doesn't look like himself.
08:26Once the two smithies are reunited back in the Dark World,
08:29where their shop would normally be,
08:30you'll find a locked chest that will follow Link.
08:33You then have to lead it to the southwestern corner of the map,
08:37past obstacles and enemies,
08:38then hop back into the Light World with it,
08:41where you'll find a thief who can open it and give Link the final empty bottle.
08:50Golden Train
08:51The Legend of Zelda, Spirit Tracks
08:53In Spirit Tracks,
08:55Link is eventually able to unlock different train cars by trading in unique resources.
08:59Of course, the final unlockable option,
09:02the Golden Train,
09:03requires a lot of rare resources,
09:06like alchemy stones and regal rings,
09:08which means grinding through some of the game's trickier challenges.
09:16To complete the full look,
09:18there are four train cars to unlock.
09:20The engine,
09:21the cannon,
09:22the passenger car,
09:23and the freight car.
09:24It's something most players will likely never see,
09:27unless they're going for 100% completion.
09:29Although,
09:30it does make Link look like a high roller,
09:32as he rolls across Hyrule.
09:40Evil Spirit Armor Set
09:41The Legend of Zelda,
09:43Tears of the Kingdom
09:44The Lo-Mei Labyrinths were excellent challenges in Breath of the Wild,
09:47and Nintendo beefed them up quite a bit for the sequel.
09:50For each one,
09:51Link follows the trail of a researcher through gloom-covered hallways,
09:55making them a little tricky to navigate.
09:57After getting a reward from a shrine at each maze's center,
10:00you can then go to a counterpart in the sky,
10:02with low gravity and high winds used to glide through the maze
10:06and activate hidden switches.
10:15After completing this,
10:16you can dive from the sky all the way down to the depths
10:20to fight a Flux Construct 3.
10:22Each time you do this,
10:23you're rewarded with a piece of the evil armor set
10:26resembling Phantom Ganon from Ocarina of Time.
10:32Tingle Trophy
10:33The Legend of Zelda,
10:34The Minish Cap
10:35Tingle is known for his BS quests,
10:38and while his main one in Minish Cap,
10:40which features his brothers and unlocks the magical boomerang,
10:43isn't so bad,
10:44his other one sure is.
10:53Unique to this game are Kinstones.
10:55Link finds one half in the overworld or in a chest,
10:58finds an NPC elsewhere with the other half,
11:01and fuses his with theirs,
11:03which unlocks a secret or reward somewhere in the world.
11:06There's a total of 100 in the game,
11:08and Tingle would really like it if you could do all of them.
11:12Understandably,
11:13that is a ton of work,
11:14since you have to search every nook and cranny
11:17for the NPC linked to each Kinstone.
11:19And all doing this gets you is a golden trophy of Tingle,
11:23which doesn't do a damn thing.
11:29Kane of Berna,
11:31The Legend of Zelda,
11:32A Link to the Past
11:33A Link to the Past has some pretty obscure items that haven't appeared in the series since.
11:38There's a hidden cave in the Dark World's version of Death Mountain,
11:41which can be found near Ganon's Tower.
11:47Inside is a long passageway covered in spikes
11:50that will surely drain all of your health before you reach the end.
11:54You either need potions or fairies to make it across,
11:57or the magic cape,
11:58another hidden and completely optional item
12:01that makes Link invincible and invisible.
12:04The Kane of Berna drains magic,
12:06but also makes Link invincible
12:07while giving him a barrier that deals damage to enemies.
12:10Although unnecessary and hard to get,
12:13we can't deny it's pretty useful in a fight.
12:20The Hero's Keys,
12:22The Legend of Zelda,
12:23Four Swords.
12:24Four Swords is not a hard game,
12:26but that doesn't mean there isn't a hard challenge for those looking for one.
12:36At the end of each of the three areas,
12:39a great fairy rewards the links
12:41with a key based on how much money they collected.
12:43You get a silver key with a minimum of 1,000 rupees
12:46and a gold key with a minimum of 3,000 rupees.
12:50The three keys are then used to unlock Vati's palace,
12:53each one representing a different difficulty level.
12:59However, you have to beat the game once
13:02to unlock the ability to earn Heroes Keys.
13:05Going back through each level,
13:06you then have to earn the exorbitant amount
13:08of 5,000 rupees each
13:10to get each key,
13:12which lets you play the final level
13:14on the hardest difficulty.
13:16Dispelling Darkness Metal,
13:18The Legend of Zelda,
13:19Tears of the Kingdom.
13:20The depths can be an intimidating place
13:22in Tears of the Kingdom.
13:24The place is covered in health-sapping gloom puddles
13:27and more formidable enemies than the surface.
13:36As you grow stronger,
13:38this becomes less of an issue,
13:39but there's still one incredibly tedious challenge
13:42to take on.
13:43For every shrine across Hyrule's vast landscape,
13:46there is a corresponding light route
13:48in the depths,
13:49which makes the surrounding area brighter
13:51when activated.
13:52Doing so for all 120
13:54earns Link the Dispelling Darkness Metal.
13:57It doesn't give you anything
13:58and you can't even use it.
14:00It's just a nice little something to say,
14:02way to go, buddy.
14:03But it's obviously an awful lot of work
14:05to put in just for a pretty trinket.
14:11Great Fairy Sword,
14:13The Legend of Zelda, Majora's Mask.
14:15Across the dungeons of Majora's Mask,
14:18Link can collect 15 stray fairies
14:20and take them to the nearby Great Fairy Fountain,
14:23which earns him a valuable prize.
14:24Naturally, those in the final main dungeon,
14:27the Stone Tower Temple,
14:29pose the biggest challenge.
14:37Not only are they well hidden
14:39through puzzles and fights like the others,
14:41but this dungeon comes with an extra challenge.
14:44Once Link gets the light arrows,
14:45he can turn the dungeon upside down.
14:47There are certain fairies
14:48that are unlocked in the standard version,
14:50but which can't be reached
14:52until you backtrack
14:53through the upside down version.
14:55In a game with a time limit,
14:56this can naturally cause some stress.
14:59If you do it,
15:00you get the Great Fairy Sword,
15:01which deals four times the damage
15:03as Link's starting weapon.
15:11Green Tunic,
15:12The Legend of Zelda,
15:13Echoes of Wisdom.
15:14If you want to dress Zelda
15:16in the classic green tunic of Link
15:18in Echoes of Wisdom,
15:19you've got to be willing to tackle
15:21a few annoying combat challenges.
15:32In Kakariko Village,
15:34you'll find the Slumber Dojo,
15:36which is updated with more encounters
15:37as you progress through the story.
15:39There are 15 in total,
15:41and all of them are timed,
15:43which can certainly be stressful
15:44and cause you to make some mistakes.
15:46Some are simple and straightforward,
15:49others have enemies
15:50that are problematic when grouped together,
15:52or arenas specifically designed
15:54to screw with you.
15:55The final challenge is a rush
15:56of all seven dungeon bosses,
15:58which earns Zelda
15:59the grand prize for completing.
16:06Golden Sword,
16:07The Legend of Zelda,
16:08A Link to the Past.
16:09For the final sword upgrade
16:11in A Link to the Past,
16:13you'll have to complete a few tasks.
16:15First, you have to rescue
16:16the missing dwarven blacksmith
16:18in the Dark World,
16:19which, as we already said
16:20for the game's final bottle,
16:21can be a little tricky.
16:23With them both back in business,
16:25this lets you upgrade
16:26the Master Sword
16:26to the Tempered Sword.
16:35Then, after completing
16:36the Dark World's sixth dungeon,
16:38Misery Mire,
16:39the bomb shopkeeper,
16:41found where Link's house
16:41would be in the Light World,
16:43will start selling a super bomb
16:45for 100 rupees.
16:46This particular explosive
16:48follows Link until he places it,
16:50which he must at the cracked wall
16:52on the Pyramid of Power.
16:53Inside, Link can throw
16:54the tempered sword into the pond,
16:56causing a cursed great fairy to appear,
16:58who upgrades it to the stronger,
17:00Golden Sword.
17:05Froggy Armor Set,
17:07The Legend of Zelda,
17:08Tears of the Kingdom.
17:09We're glad Nintendo included armor
17:11to stop Link from sliding
17:12while trying to climb in the rain,
17:14but they could have made it
17:15a little easier to get.
17:19Near Rito Village,
17:20Link can become a part-time reporter
17:22for the Lucky Clover Gazette,
17:24teaming up with Penn
17:25for different stories
17:25at most stables across Hyrule.
17:28You earn tiered rewards,
17:29mostly rupees,
17:30as you complete more side quests.
17:32After four,
17:33Link gets the froggy sleeve,
17:35after nine,
17:36he'll get the froggy leggings,
17:37and after the twelfth
17:39and final quest,
17:40he gets the froggy hood.
17:46It's some of the best
17:47side content in the game,
17:49and while the difficulty
17:50obviously differs
17:51from stable to stable,
17:53it takes a lot of work
17:54to complete the set.
17:55Plus, it only gives you
17:57slip resistance.
17:58You have to upgrade
17:59each piece twice
18:00before Link is slip-proof.
18:02Armor Ring L3
18:04and Power Ring L3.
18:06The Legend of Zelda
18:07Oracle of Ages
18:08and Oracle of Seasons.
18:10In a standard playthrough
18:11of Oracle of Ages
18:12or Seasons,
18:13the Hero's Cave
18:14is a small, early location
18:16that gets Link
18:16the wooden sword.
18:18But, in a linked game,
18:20meaning you've beaten
18:20one of them already
18:21and connected your saves,
18:23it becomes an optional dungeon
18:25with a handful
18:25of new challenges.
18:33However, while you can
18:35access it early,
18:36Link can't make it
18:37all the way through
18:37until he's completed
18:39the seventh dungeon,
18:40as the puzzles require
18:41certain items you won't
18:43have at the start.
18:44On their own,
18:45each Hero's Cave
18:46wouldn't be so tough,
18:47but because you need
18:48to have beaten one game
18:49to unlock it in the other,
18:51it's obviously
18:52a big time commitment.
18:53Beating the Hero's Cave
18:54in Oracle of Ages
18:55gets you the Armor Ring L3,
18:57which decreases incoming damage
18:59as well as Link's sword damage.
19:01And beating the one
19:02in Oracle of Seasons
19:03gets him the Power Ring L3,
19:05which increases Link's sword damage,
19:07but also the amount he takes.
19:14Gilded Sword,
19:15The Legend of Zelda,
19:17Majora's Mask.
19:22You can earn the Gilded Sword
19:24in Majora's Mask
19:25after beating Snowhead Temple,
19:27the game's second dungeon.
19:28More than likely,
19:29you'll have to re-beat
19:30the boss on another loop
19:32because the sword
19:33takes quite a bit of time.
19:35You need the second dungeon beaten
19:36so that you can
19:37A, upgrade to the Razor Sword
19:39at the Mountain Smithy,
19:40and B, partake in the Goron races.
19:43Winning in the latter
19:44earns you gold dust,
19:46the next step in claiming
19:47the Gilded Sword,
19:48but it can be pretty challenging.
19:50The track features a twisty layout,
19:53several annoying obstacles,
19:54and the other Gorons race
19:56like their lives are on the line.
19:57Plus, it takes a day each
19:59for both swords to be made,
20:01and the clock, as always,
20:03is ticking.
20:04Fierce Deity Armor,
20:06The Legend of Zelda,
20:07Triforce Heroes.
20:09We'll cover a few combat-based
20:11dungeons across the series.
20:13First up,
20:14the Den of Trials from Triforce Heroes,
20:16a free DLC challenge
20:18and the hardest one in the game.
20:20It gives you 40 levels of fights,
20:22swapping between a variety of items.
20:24While there are certainly
20:25some combat challenges in the series
20:27that are longer than this one,
20:29it's still a commitment,
20:30and it ends with a fight
20:31against a trio of Dark Lynx,
20:33who understandably put up
20:35a fairly decent fight.
20:36Your reward for making it through
20:38is an armor set that makes
20:39Link resemble the fierce deity
20:40from Majora's Mask,
20:42and lets him shoot beams
20:43from his sword while at full health,
20:45or with a spin attack.
20:47The Master Sword,
20:48The Legend of Zelda,
20:50Oracle of Ages,
20:51and Oracle of Seasons.
20:53Usually, obtaining the Master Sword
20:55in a Zelda game
20:55is simply a matter of
20:57making it far enough into the story.
20:59Not so in the Oracle games.
21:01Here we have one of the many
21:03trading quests found across the series,
21:06but with one big giant asterisk
21:08on the end.
21:09First, in either game,
21:11you must complete a 12-step long
21:13trading sequence,
21:14tracking down various NPCs
21:16across the map,
21:17which will get you
21:18the Noble Sword.
21:19To get the more powerful
21:21and iconic Master Sword,
21:22you must also have a linked save,
21:25meaning you must have already
21:26beaten one of the games.
21:28You must then take a password
21:30from an NPC in the beaten game,
21:32give it to another NPC
21:33in the second game,
21:34and that will get you your reward.
21:37Great Fairy's Tears,
21:39The Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess.
21:48You can get two bottles
21:50of Great Fairy's Tears
21:51in Twilight Princess,
21:52though we're obviously referring
21:54to the harder of the two,
21:56earned at the end
21:57of The Cave of Ordeals.
21:58It's another one of the franchise's
22:00combat dungeons,
22:01this time coming in 50 floors.
22:04You wind up needing all dungeon items
22:06to make it through,
22:07which is a mean trick,
22:08considering The Cave of Ordeals
22:09is introduced much earlier
22:11than some of them.
22:12While, like other combat dungeons,
22:14there are rest floors,
22:16it's still a lot of fighting
22:17that most players will require
22:18a few healing resources
22:20to make it through.
22:21As to be expected,
22:23those last few floors in particular
22:24can be deadly
22:26if you aren't careful.
22:27Along the way,
22:28fairies are added
22:29to the springs in Hyrule,
22:30but your final reward
22:31is the Great Fairy's Tears,
22:33which completely refills Link's health
22:35and temporarily boosts his strength.
22:43Medals of Honor
22:44The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild
22:46and Tears of the Kingdom
22:48If you play Breath of the Wild
22:50and Tears of the Kingdom long enough,
22:52you'll grow to eventually
22:54demolish any monster
22:56that comes your way.
22:57Still, that takes time,
22:59as does building up strong weapons,
23:01armor, and resources.
23:02Once you get to that level,
23:05there will still be
23:06hordes of mini-bosses
23:08left in the world,
23:09and you must find and defeat
23:10each and every one of them
23:12to earn a Medal of Honor.
23:14All Hinoxes,
23:15Stone Taluses,
23:17and Muldugas in the first,
23:18with the sequel adding
23:19Gleox, Flux Constructs,
23:22and Froxes,
23:23which must sound like
23:24total nonsense
23:25to anyone unfamiliar with Zelda.
23:27All this to say,
23:28you do a lot of monster slaying
23:29for some medals that
23:30don't do anything.
23:32Froglure
23:33The Legend of Zelda
23:34Twilight Princess
23:36Ask any Zelda fan
23:37what the most annoying
23:38minigame in Zelda is,
23:40and there's a good chance
23:41you'll find
23:41a lot of people were scarred
23:43by Roll Goal
23:44in Twilight Princess.
23:46Essentially,
23:46you roll a small ball
23:48down a narrow path,
23:49with the layouts
23:50growing increasingly trickier
23:51across the eight levels.
23:53This was particularly
23:54challenging in the Wii version
23:56given the Wii Motes'
23:57motion controls,
23:58and prior to the advent
23:59of Wii Motion Plus,
24:01you can imagine
24:01how this could be
24:02irritating.
24:03Regardless of version,
24:05the game is designed
24:06to be a bit nerve-wracking.
24:08One slight twitch
24:09on the tiny path,
24:10and the ball would tip
24:11over the side,
24:12causing you a loss.
24:14For eight levels of suffering,
24:15you got the Froglure,
24:17capable of catching
24:18the rare Hylian Loach,
24:19if you care for that sort of thing.
24:32Coho-Lint Sword,
24:34The Legend of Zelda
24:35Link's Awakening.
24:36In the original version
24:37of Link's Awakening,
24:39you can find a total
24:39of 26 secret seashells
24:42hidden across Coho-Lint Island,
24:44most requiring
24:45different items to reach.
24:46Once you find 20,
24:48Link is awarded
24:48a special sword
24:49that's much stronger
24:51than the one
24:51he started with.
24:52However,
24:53getting the Coho-Lint Sword
24:54in the 2019 remake
24:55is a bit harder
24:56in the number
24:57you have to get.
24:58Link must earn 40
24:59out of a total of 50.
25:01While that does mean
25:03they appear more frequently,
25:04and you can get
25:05a censor item
25:06that makes hunting
25:06for them easier,
25:0840 of anything
25:09is still a lot
25:10to track down.
25:12Colton's Fabric,
25:13The Legend of Zelda,
25:14Tears of the Kingdom.
25:21Some of the
25:22hardest items
25:23to earn
25:23in Tears of the Kingdom
25:24are the
25:25character custom
25:26paraglider fabrics,
25:27earned through
25:28lengthy side quests.
25:30Shout out to Addison
25:31and his ridiculous
25:3281 signs,
25:33which I didn't complete
25:35until the Switch 2 version
25:36gave me a map
25:36to find the rest of them.
25:38But that was just because
25:39I couldn't find them.
25:40In terms of actual
25:41commitment
25:42and difficulty,
25:43the winner
25:44clearly goes to Colton.
25:46To earn his fabric
25:47and fulfill his life's wish,
25:49you must hunt down
25:49and collect the gems
25:51of 147 bubble frogs
25:53in every cave of Hyrule,
25:56some of which are
25:56either very well hidden,
25:58very well guarded,
25:59or both.
26:00Fabric looks nice though.
26:02Karlov Metal,
26:03The Legend of Zelda,
26:05The Minish Cap.
26:06Like we've said
26:07multiple times in the past,
26:09the figurine quest
26:10of The Minish Cap
26:10is terrible.
26:12As if the rigged
26:13gotcha system
26:14wasn't bad enough,
26:15unloading pocketfuls
26:16of mysterious shells
26:17on the chance
26:18you get something new,
26:20it takes reaching
26:21the absurd number
26:22of 130 figurines
26:24before you gain access
26:25to the music house
26:27and a piece of heart.
26:28But we're not counting those
26:30and there's one
26:31extra sour step
26:32in the process.
26:34Six additional figurines
26:35become available to earn
26:37after you've beaten the game.
26:39Only with all 136
26:41will you get a medal
26:42in the form of Karlov's
26:44stupid face.
26:46Which,
26:46if you've learned anything
26:47from Breath of the Wild
26:48and Tears of the Kingdom,
26:50you know does absolutely nothing.
27:01Upgraded Master Sword.
27:02The Legend of Zelda,
27:04Breath of the Wild.
27:05Breath of the Wild
27:06is another game
27:07where the Master Sword
27:08isn't hard to earn.
27:10But the fully upgraded version?
27:12That's another story.
27:13Through DLC,
27:14players came face to face
27:16with the Trial of the Sword,
27:17a series of fights
27:18making up what might be
27:19the hardest combat challenge
27:21of the series.
27:22It came in three sets,
27:24beginning, middle, and final,
27:26which of course
27:27ramped up the challenge
27:28as you played.
27:30But it was more
27:31than difficulty scaling baddies.
27:33At the start of each set,
27:35you lost access to everything
27:37except your Sheikah Slate.
27:38No champion abilities,
27:40no weapons,
27:41no armor,
27:42no resources.
27:43Everything you would need,
27:45you'd have to earn as you go.
27:47And it wasn't as if
27:48everything was of the highest quality.
27:51Each set of trials
27:52slightly powered up
27:53Link's Master Sword,
27:54and the final trials,
27:55totaling 23 floors,
27:57was a pretty tall order.
28:00The Fourth Bottle.
28:01The Legend of Zelda,
28:02Ocarina of Time.
28:08Ocarina of Time features
28:10four empty bottles
28:11to let Link carry around
28:12potions and other useful things.
28:14While the first three
28:15are easy to get,
28:16the fourth certainly isn't.
28:19There are ten big Po's
28:21hidden around Hyrule Field.
28:22As soon as one appears,
28:24you'll have to give chase
28:25on Epona
28:25and shoot the ghost down
28:27before it vanishes.
28:36These can be a pretty big pain
28:39considering the Po's
28:40flee on set paths
28:41and can disappear
28:43extremely quickly.
28:44By killing them all,
28:45collecting their souls,
28:46and taking them to the Po collector
28:48in Hyrule Castle Town,
28:50you'll earn the fourth bottle.
28:52But honestly,
28:52unless you're going for a 100% run,
28:55you may as well just stick to three
28:56and save yourself the hassle.
29:04The Hylian Shield.
29:06The Legend of Zelda,
29:08Skyward Sword.
29:10No!
29:17If you want to earn
29:19Link's Classic Shield
29:20and Skyward Sword,
29:21you better be prepared
29:22to fight for it.
29:23After meeting the dragon,
29:25Lanayru,
29:25players can challenge themselves
29:26to a boss rush mode.
29:28While you can choose
29:29what boss you start with,
29:31every other one
29:31will be randomized.
29:33Each fight also only gives you
29:34access to the items
29:35you would have had
29:36when encountering the boss
29:37for the first time
29:38in the story.
29:47And you can't take
29:49any bottled items
29:50like potions or fairies
29:51with you,
29:52making it a bit harder to heal.
29:54Although there are 12
29:55possible rounds to get through,
29:57Link is given the Hylian Shield
29:58after beating eight of them.
30:00Still,
30:00that many bosses in a row
30:02can prove tough.
30:07The Last Figurine
30:10The Legend of Zelda
30:11The Wind Waker
30:18After reaching the forest haven
30:20in Wind Waker,
30:21players can take on
30:22one of the longest side quests
30:24in Zelda history.
30:25In the Nintendo Gallery,
30:27Link can bring Karlov,
30:28a picture of any character
30:30or enemy from the game
30:31to have him craft a figurine.
30:33What makes this time-consuming
30:35other than tracking everyone down
30:37are Karlov's rules.
30:38The pictures have to be colored,
30:40requiring a separate side quest,
30:42and the subject has to be centered
30:44and looking at the camera,
30:46or else he won't accept it,
30:47which is pretty hard
30:48with certain enemies and bosses.
30:50This was made much easier
30:52in the HD remake,
30:53which started with the color camera,
30:55let you save 10 pictures
30:57instead of three,
30:58and marked each successful picture
31:00so you didn't waste any time.
31:02But finishing it in the original
31:04to earn the final figurine
31:05of Link and the King of Red Lions
31:07was a major commitment.
31:18Ice Arrows
31:19The Legend of Zelda
31:20Ocarina of Time
31:28Most Zelda games
31:29give Link elemental arrows
31:31through the main story,
31:32but the same can't be said
31:33of Ocarina of Time.
31:35In order to earn the Ice Arrows,
31:37you have to make it through
31:38the optional Gerudo Training Ground.
31:40This is a series of locked,
31:42connected rooms
31:43in which Link must defeat enemies,
31:45overcome obstacles and hazards,
31:47or both to earn another key.
31:51It also uses most of the items
31:54found in the main dungeons,
31:55making each room varied.
31:57Thankfully, there are enough keys
31:59so that you don't worry
32:00about your starting direction,
32:01but some of the rooms
32:02are actually pretty tough,
32:03especially those that give you
32:05a time limit
32:05to accomplish their goal.
32:13Master Cycle Zero
32:15The Legend of Zelda
32:16Breath of the Wild
32:25In addition to the brutal
32:27Trial of the Sword,
32:28Breath of the Wild's DLC
32:29came with story content
32:31and an unlockable
32:32that made exploring the overworld
32:34much faster,
32:35the Master Cycle Zero.
32:37And it naturally
32:38took a lot of effort to get.
32:39You had to complete
32:4016 new shrines.
32:42The first four
32:43on the Great Plateau
32:44forced you to use
32:45the one-hit Obliterator,
32:46one health point
32:48for both Link
32:48and his enemies.
32:50You then had three shrines,
32:51four for each champion,
32:53which ended with
32:53a more challenging version
32:55of their area's boss,
32:56which also limited
32:57what items you had access to.
32:59Finally,
33:00you'd face the surprisingly
33:02formidable Monk Maz Koshia,
33:04one of the toughest fights
33:05in the series
33:06with your varied phases.
33:08Your reward
33:09was a motorcycle.
33:21Swordsman's Scrolls,
33:23The Legend of Zelda
33:24Spirit Tracks.
33:30Like many other games
33:32in the series,
33:33Spirit Tracks features
33:34a couple of collectible
33:35side quests,
33:36both of which can test
33:37your willingness
33:38to make it to the end.
33:39Link is given a journal
33:41by Nico,
33:42which he can fill up
33:43with stamps on his travels.
33:44Stamp stations,
33:45of which there are 20,
33:47can be found
33:48in noteworthy areas,
33:49from villages
33:50to dungeons,
33:51and some are more
33:52well-hidden than others.
33:53However,
33:54the more annoying quest
33:55is that of
33:56Rabbitland Rescue.
33:57Link must find
33:58and capture 50 rabbits
34:00hidden in the overworld,
34:02some of which can only
34:03be found by completing
34:04other quests.
34:10Both get you
34:11a Swordsman's Scroll.
34:12The one from the
34:13Stamp quest
34:14gives Link a great
34:15spin attack,
34:15while finishing
34:16the Rabbitland quest
34:17lets him shoot beams
34:19from his sword.
34:27Majora's Mask,
34:28The Legend of Zelda,
34:30Tears of the Kingdom.
34:35The Legend of Zelda,
34:36The Legend of Zelda,
34:36The Legend of Zelda,
34:38The Legend of Zelda,
34:39The Legend of Zelda,
34:39Death of the Wild,
34:40letting Link approach
34:41most enemies
34:42without them attacking.
34:43For Tears of the Kingdom,
34:44though,
34:45Nintendo decided
34:46to test our combat prowess
34:47to make sure
34:48we were worthy.
34:49In the sequel,
34:50the mask is found
34:51in the depths,
34:52directly beneath
34:53the Colosseum ruins
34:54on the surface.
34:55Except,
34:55in order to get it,
34:57you have to defeat
34:57five gloom-covered
34:59Lynels in a row,
35:01increasing in difficulty
35:02with the last one
35:04being an armored
35:05silver Lynel.
35:12That would be hard normally,
35:15but the gloom-affliction
35:16puts you even more on edge,
35:18especially if you haven't
35:19earned enough hearts
35:20or found better armor
35:22at this point.
35:30The Extravagant,
35:31Bridal,
35:32and Saddle,
35:33The Legend of Zelda,
35:34Breath of the Wild.
35:41The horse-riding mini-games
35:42in Breath of the Wild
35:43are recipes
35:44for absolute fury.
35:46Trying to earn
35:47the knight's bridle
35:48and saddle
35:48from the mounted
35:49archery camp
35:50is definitely frustrating,
35:51yet hitting targets
35:52from horseback
35:53is surprisingly not as bad
35:54as trying to make it through
35:56Highland Stable's
35:57obstacle course.
35:58Players must spend
35:5920 rupees
36:00to leap over 10 hurdles,
36:01which are spread out
36:02in a nearby plane,
36:04within a certain time limit
36:05to get the rewards.
36:13Finishing under
36:14a minute and 30 seconds
36:15gets you the
36:16Extravagant Bridal,
36:17while finishing under
36:18a minute and 15 seconds
36:20gets you the saddle.
36:21What sounds simple on paper
36:23is infuriating in practice.
36:25The horses are harder to control
36:27when going fast,
36:28while going too slow
36:29or just being off
36:31by a hair from the center
36:33will cause them
36:34not to jump over the hurdle.
36:42The Hammer
36:43Zelda 2
36:44The Adventure of Link
36:49Everything else on our list
36:51is completely optional,
36:52thankfully,
36:53but The Hammer
36:54in Zelda 2
36:55is required to beat the game,
36:57and it's a complete
36:58nightmare to find.
36:59Link can pick it up
37:00on Death Mountain,
37:01by far the most complex
37:03and frustrating iteration
37:05of the famous location.
37:07What makes getting
37:07the Hammer so maddening
37:09is that it's found
37:09at the end of a huge maze,
37:12filled with stronger enemies
37:13than anything you will have seen
37:15up until this point.
37:20And since you can venture here
37:22relatively early in the game,
37:24it has a reputation
37:25for being a huge difficulty spike.
37:28Making it through this
37:29without help from the internet
37:30or tips from Nintendo Power
37:32back in the day
37:33was a major challenge.
37:42Light Ring L2
37:44The Legend of Zelda
37:46Oracle of Ages
37:53Getting everything
37:54in Oracle of Ages
37:55is one of the most difficult things
37:57to do in any Zelda game,
37:59and that's because
38:00of the inclusion of rings.
38:02This specific ring
38:04can only be earned
38:05in a minigame,
38:06a shooting gallery
38:07found in Lena Village.
38:08Players must score
38:09at least 350 points
38:11to earn a ring
38:12as their prize,
38:13but the problem
38:14is that there's no way
38:16of knowing
38:16if it's the Light Ring L2
38:19or some other ring
38:20until you get it appraised.
38:29This is the only way
38:31to earn this item,
38:32but it has less than
38:33a 5% chance
38:34of being the correct one.
38:36It's an upgrade
38:37of the previous L1 version
38:39and lets Link fire sword beams
38:41while still missing
38:42up to three hearts,
38:43but that benefit
38:44hardly seems worth the effort.
38:56The Legend of Zelda
38:57Tears of the Kingdom
39:05In Breath of the Wild,
39:06players could collect
39:07900 Korok seeds
39:09to fully max out
39:10their inventory space
39:11and receive
39:12the hilariously underwhelming
39:13reward of Hestu's gift.
39:15Nintendo made things
39:17a bit more challenging
39:17in Tears of the Kingdom
39:18with 1,000 seeds
39:20to collect this time.
39:21Quite frankly,
39:22that's ridiculous.
39:26There were only 800 puzzles
39:28this time,
39:29with the additional 100
39:30earned by reuniting duos
39:31of Koroks
39:32through transportational obstacles.
39:34There's a little more variety,
39:35especially with how you can
39:36build different vehicles
39:38to help some of them
39:38reach their friends,
39:40but that variety
39:40does add to the difficulty.
39:42Still, it's the sheer amount
39:44of time and searching
39:45for these little guys
39:46that makes the quest hard,
39:47all for the same useless item
39:49you got in the first game.
39:54Big Goron Sword
39:56The Legend of Zelda
39:57Ocarina of Time
40:02Adult Link's trading quest
40:04in Ocarina of Time
40:05is famous now,
40:07considering how beloved
40:08the game is
40:09and how it leads
40:10to the intensely powerful
40:11Big Goron Sword.
40:13But playing through it
40:14without knowing the order,
40:15what you're meant to do,
40:16is pretty obscure.
40:22It starts in Kakariko Village
40:24where the Cuckoo Lady
40:25gives Link an egg
40:26to wake up a heavy sleeper.
40:28Easy stuff.
40:28The quest gained notoriety
40:30through kids
40:31probably not looking
40:32at the map,
40:33which indicates
40:33the next area to go to.
40:35Although,
40:36you still have to put in effort
40:37tracking down the right NPC.
40:39Things grow even harder
40:40with certain items
40:41that come with a time limit,
40:43as you'll have to rush
40:44across the kingdom
40:45since warping won't work.
40:47The weapon is certainly
40:48worth getting,
40:49but there's no denying
40:50this stressed us out
40:52back in the day.
41:00Hero's Charm
41:01The Legend of Zelda
41:02The Wind Waker HD
41:12When it comes to earning
41:14the Hero's Charm,
41:15it's a lot harder
41:16in the HD version
41:17than the GameCube one.
41:18In the original,
41:19Windfall Island teacher
41:21Mrs. Marie
41:21gives it to Link
41:23after he gives her
41:2340 Joy Pendants.
41:29In the HD remaster,
41:31it's found at the end
41:32of the Savage Labyrinth.
41:34The fact that Joy
41:35is used for one method
41:36and Savage used for the other
41:38really sums up
41:39the difficulty spike.
41:40While it's required
41:41you complete 30 floors
41:42of progressively tougher
41:44monsters for the story,
41:45you have to conquer 20 more
41:47to earn this prize.
41:48It lets Link see
41:50the health bars
41:50of all enemies.
41:52A nice benefit,
41:52but it definitely takes
41:54a lot of effort
41:55from the player.
42:05Tycoon Wallet
42:06The Legend of Zelda
42:07Skyward Sword
42:15We're grateful Nintendo
42:17has seemingly done away
42:18with the wallet-sized system
42:19because some of them
42:20take a lot of work
42:22to unlock.
42:22The Tycoon Wallet
42:24from Skyward Sword
42:25can hold up to 9,000 rupees,
42:27which is far more
42:28than you would ever need
42:29by the time you're able
42:30to get it.
42:31It's the final prize
42:32in the side quest
42:33of Batro,
42:34a monster living in Skyloft
42:35who wants to be human.
42:43Scattered about
42:44on some Sky Islands,
42:45though more commonly earned
42:46in other side quests
42:47are Gratitude Crystals,
42:49of which Batro needs
42:50all 80 before he can transform
42:52and therefore
42:53cough up the wallet.
42:54Although none of these quests
42:56are too challenging,
42:57some are well hidden,
42:58and it's still
42:59a tremendous amount of work.
43:09Super Net
43:10The Legend of Zelda
43:11A Link Between Worlds
43:20Similar to Wind Waker's
43:22Savage Labyrinth,
43:23the treacherous tower
43:24from A Link Between Worlds
43:25has you work through floors
43:26of increasingly stronger enemies.
43:28Only here,
43:29it's divided into
43:30three levels of difficulty
43:32and each one must be beaten
43:33to unlock the next.
43:35The advanced level
43:36comes with a staggering
43:3750 floors
43:38and costs 300 rupees
43:40to enter.
43:41After beating it,
43:42you'll be gifted
43:43the Super Lamp.
43:50But in order to get
43:52the Super Net,
43:53which is really just
43:53the normal net
43:54with the ability
43:55to damage enemies,
43:56you have to beat it
43:57a second time.
43:58As if the first time
44:00wasn't difficult enough,
44:01that's also a lot
44:02of dedication
44:02with no health drops
44:04for something
44:04you don't really need.
44:11Hero of the Wild Set
44:13and Ancient Heroes Aspect,
44:15The Legend of Zelda
44:16Breath of the Wild
44:17and Tears of the Kingdom.
44:24Although they're
44:25different rewards
44:26from different games,
44:27the Hero of the Wild Set
44:28and the Ancient Heroes Aspect
44:30are earned
44:30in basically the same way.
44:32But which one you find
44:33more challenging to get
44:34depends on your skill
44:36as a player.
44:37The Hero of the Wild Set
44:38is given to you
44:39by the Sheikah Monks.
44:40After Link has completed
44:42all 120 shrines
44:43in Breath of the Wild.
44:50And the Ancient Heroes Aspect
44:52is earned after completing
44:54the 152 shrines
44:56in Tears of the Kingdom.
45:01Granted,
45:01some shrines
45:02are obviously
45:03harder than others.
45:04But because each
45:05of these rewards
45:05is locked behind
45:06something that requires
45:07a ton of time
45:08searching for and beating,
45:10they're some of the
45:10hardest rewards
45:11to earn in Zelda.
45:16The Fierce Deity Mask
45:18The Legend of Zelda
45:19Majora's Mask
45:27There are a few masks
45:29in Majora's Mask
45:30that are pretty challenging
45:31to unlock.
45:32For example,
45:33the couple's mask
45:33is earned after one
45:34of the hardest,
45:35longest side quests
45:36in Zelda history.
45:38Of course,
45:38that means the mask
45:39you only get
45:40from earning all the rest
45:42has to take the cake.
45:43Once Link makes it
45:44to the final section,
45:45he can trade away
45:46the 20 minor masks
45:47to the four children
45:48running around the tree.
45:49and then play
45:51some very intense
45:52hide-and-seek.
46:00Only then
46:01will the child
46:02sitting under the tree
46:03gift him
46:03with the Fierce Deity Mask.
46:05It grants him
46:06the ability
46:07to make any boss,
46:08including the final one,
46:09seem like nothing
46:10in comparison,
46:11so it's more
46:12than worth getting.
46:33Here we have
46:34two staples
46:35of the past Zelda era,
46:36another big wallet
46:37and a combat dungeon.
46:39Only in the HD version
46:41of Twilight Princess
46:42can you get
46:42the Colossal Wallet,
46:44which can hold
46:459,999 rupees.
46:48By scanning
46:48this remaster's
46:50Wolf Link amiibo,
46:51you could access
46:52the Cave of Shadows,
46:53a 40-floor dungeon
46:54like those before it,
46:55but which had to be
46:56played as Link's
46:57alternate form.
47:06Not having access
47:07to your full inventory
47:09certainly makes
47:10things tougher.
47:11However,
47:12you have to gain wallets
47:13in order of
47:13increasing capacity.
47:15If you haven't found
47:16the 24 golden bugs
47:17hidden about Hyrule
47:18for Agatha's side quest,
47:20you'll get
47:20the next largest wallet.
47:22If you want
47:23the Colossal one,
47:24you have to do both.
47:30Mirror Shield
47:31The Legend of Zelda
47:32The Minish Cap
47:41The Mirror Shield
47:43is usually earned
47:44late game,
47:45but Minish Cap
47:45took it a step further.
47:47For starters,
47:48you have to have
47:48already beaten
47:49the final boss.
47:50For another,
47:51it takes a series
47:52of obscure,
47:53hidden kinstone
47:55fusions to pull off.
47:56You start by fusing
47:57with one of the
47:58farmers in Eastern Hills,
47:59which causes a Goron
48:00digging by Lon Lon Ranch
48:02to break into a cave.
48:03In order to get him help,
48:04you have to fuse
48:05with five seemingly
48:07ordinary walls
48:08hidden in different caves.
48:10Doing all of that
48:11only gets you
48:12the last empty bottle.
48:17But afterward,
48:18fusing with one of the Gorons
48:20causes Big Goron
48:21to pop up in Veil Falls.
48:22After Link gives him
48:23his shield
48:24and waits 20 minutes,
48:25you finally get
48:26your just reward.
48:32If you love games,
48:34be sure to check out
48:35WatchMojo's new game,
48:36Terrible Influence.
48:37Just launched for purchase
48:38at TerribleInfluence.com.
48:40Terrible Influence
48:41is a satirical board game
48:42about the dark side of fame
48:44from the writer
48:44of the most popular
48:45girls in school
48:46and us,
48:47WatchMojo.
48:47Boom.
48:48I can make an apology video.
48:50Oh, you so would.
48:51Click on the link
48:52in the description
48:52to check out the game
48:53and be the first
48:54to play Terrible Influence.
48:56The Bomber's Ring.
48:58The Legend of Zelda,
48:59Oracle of Ages.
49:07Zelda has some
49:08annoying minigames,
49:10but the Goron dancing
49:11from Oracle of Ages
49:12is pretty close to the top.
49:14Getting the rhythm right
49:15from the little
49:16bleeps and bloops
49:17is surprisingly challenging.
49:18You can find it
49:19in the present
49:20and the past,
49:21but the older era
49:22has the Bomber's Ring,
49:23which lets Link
49:24place two bombs at once.
49:25There are three skill levels
49:27to choose from,
49:28Platinum being the hardest.
49:30That means getting
49:30every single note
49:32and pause perfect
49:33in some rather
49:34drawn-out sequences.
49:43You'll get a magic ring
49:44for your troubles,
49:45but there's only a chance
49:47it will be the Bomber's Ring.
49:48It's more than likely
49:49you'll walk out of there
49:50with a ring
49:51you can find elsewhere,
49:52but this is the only way
49:54you can earn this prize.
50:00What are some of the
50:01hardest Zelda items
50:02you've ever had
50:03the displeasure of unlocking?
