00:00:20including a maiden rookie win yesterday for Charlie Hand,

00:00:23which is a nice story because he's on pole position for our partially reverse grid race.

00:00:27So, well done, Charlie, the ex-junior saloon car champion.

00:00:32We were talking a little bit about Charlie yesterday because he was telling me to repeat his stats

00:00:35and say that he was an ex-champion.

00:00:37So, we've done it twice now, Charlie, so you owe us a beer at the end of the year, too.

00:00:41But, great lad, he's a super peg.

00:00:43Do you know what? I really love the mini paddock.

00:00:46You know, the organisers, all of the drivers and teams are just so welcoming and such really great company.

00:00:51Yeah, and you can really tell that it's really working now, isn't it, this championship,

00:00:55because of the cars on the grid.

00:00:57We said yesterday on the live stream how the whole field of both categories can be running up the front.

00:01:07That's how strong this championship is.

00:01:09So, great to see and it's been great to cover it.

00:01:12So, yeah, look forward to this one.

00:01:20Charlie Hand on pole with Josh Porter, who was a very lucky boy yesterday.

00:01:25Nathan Harriton, the 2020 champion, returns for a one-off at the moment.

00:01:29Tom Ovenden, champion elect, we probably can say, is next from Nick Tandy.

00:02:08Will Crooks on pole position with Nicky Gouchy, the Maltese driver, alongside Chris McKenzie is next up from Ben Crossley,

00:02:15Archie Johnson and Henry Howarth.

00:02:17And that championship very, very much alive with Henry Howarth at the back, having won yesterday, closing in on Archie

00:02:23Johnson, the sport points leader.

00:02:27In terms of JCW overall championship leader, Tom Uvendon leads that.

00:02:31He was telling me this morning that he just needs to finish this one, which is a shame for Lewis

00:02:36Selby and a shame for our fans that wanted a bit of a last couple of races showdown.

00:02:40But that's the way it is.

00:02:42Obviously, we need to give a shout out again to Jamie Osborne.

00:02:45Not fit to race this weekend.

00:02:47Unfortunately, not past the medical.

00:02:48Wish you well again, Jamie, obviously.

00:02:51Every cloud has a silver lining and that is that we've got Nick Tandy in his place to try and

00:02:55get the Napa team some points for the team championship.

00:02:58Yeah, exactly.

00:02:59So I believe he's not scoring points as a driver.

00:03:03But as the team championship is concerned.

00:03:05And that's how seriously they're taking this, bringing in a Le Mans winner.

00:03:10Watching some social media, as I do in the hotel at night before I go to sleep after watching Liverpool

00:03:16get beat on match of the day, which was a disaster.

00:03:18I'm not laughing that hard, really.

00:03:21But, yeah, I was looking at...

00:03:26Jake Hill posted a picture of himself clambering the fence near enough at Grey Mill Bend saying everybody is a

00:03:32Nick Tandy fan as he watched the mini challenge.

00:03:34So brilliant coup for the championship.

00:03:36And, yeah, I really hope...

00:03:39He had a podium yesterday, but I really hope he can be spectacular and get us a win sometime today.

00:03:44Not many drivers with his reputation would come and put the reputation on the line.

00:03:48I mean, it is a serious issue, isn't it, getting him out here?

00:03:51Absolutely, yeah.

00:03:52But, like I said, in live stream, he is, like, the most naturally talented person as a driver I've seen.

00:03:58But, look, it's about to get going.

00:05:29Was Nathan Edwards going on the inside of Jenson O'Neill going?

00:05:32Nathan, pretty much a lot more, obviously, JTW experience than Jenson.

00:05:36As soon as Harry Hickton gets squeezed out onto, you get track limits for that there.

00:05:40Yeah, he won't be getting at any advantage, I'll tell you that.

00:05:42That's for sure.

00:05:45So there is Lewis Selby in the 18 car.

00:05:47We've got Max Edmondson as well in front of him, the Valvoline car of Lewis Selby,

00:05:51who had a little coming together, I don't think there was a judicial over it,

00:05:54with Nathan yesterday.

00:05:56And Lewis was, do you know what, really magnanimous about it, I've got to say.

00:06:02That was Alex, wasn't it?

00:06:04Yeah, we called that one correctly.

00:06:05That's one of the development cars with the new body work for next year.

00:06:08Everyone really excited about the new body kit.

00:06:10Slightly heavier, so we can expect the lap times to be a little bit slower next year,

00:06:14but the cars look great.

00:06:15Really good reaction to that.

00:06:17And we've got Alex racing the car, and also we've got Bert Webster as well racing the new body work

00:06:25car.

00:06:26As we look at Nick Townley trying to close in on Josh Porter, so he's P3 at the moment,

00:06:30so potentially a double podium for Townley.

00:06:33And I think he's going to be up at the sharp end in the fastest of the front race

00:06:36that we get a little bit later on.

00:06:38Ovenden 7th, again, just has to finish here, just has to nurse it home.

00:06:42We did ask, you know, I asked Tom earlier on whether he would, actually, we're going to have a bit

00:06:46of an onboard with Tom,

00:06:47I asked him, will he still do race three?

00:06:50And he went, of course!

00:06:51And I haven't had that sort of affirmative answer since I asked Isaac Hajar when he was a junior,

00:06:57what's your aim?

00:06:57Formula One, he said, and that was very much the same kind of response.

00:07:00And the reason is he wants the points and he wants to get the team championship for Accelerate over Napa.

00:07:05And that's fair, it's very direct, and that's what you want from a driver.

00:07:08And, well, look at Hajar now, but look at Max Edmondson, he just made the move, didn't he?

00:07:11He got past the 15 of Cam Richardson, so he's moving up the order.

00:07:17It's just so fantastic to see.

00:07:18Look at the different colours of these cars, love it.

00:07:20There's no championship like it, they're not great.

00:07:22It's really good, and really welcome attention that Nick Tandy coming into this brings.

00:07:27People really start to look at it, and we all know it's a great championship,

00:07:31but for me it's just underlined it and just saying how great this championship is.

00:07:36I know we've got former champions looking at coming back.

00:07:38There's talk of Dan Zilos having a look.

00:07:40Obviously we've got Nathan back with us as well, Nathan Harrison back with us this weekend.

00:07:45It's a real quality field, and even the drivers that aren't ex-champions are great.

00:07:50The likes of Max Edmondson, Nathan Edwards, really, really strong,

00:07:54and every bit as entertaining as the Touring World Championship for me.

00:07:57Yeah, exactly that, now fully with you, fully, fully with you.

00:08:00So, all going off, so we're going to have a look, I think, at Tom Oventon's start on board.

00:08:07Look at his eyes.

00:08:09Look at it, he looks very relaxed.

00:08:11He's proper giving the side eye there, isn't he, to Nick Tandy?

00:08:14Yeah, the proper side eye.

00:08:15It looks like that meme where the monkey's just looking at the side of his head.

00:08:18But look at this, this is brilliant insight.

00:08:21What a fantastic camera angle.

00:08:22Do you think he's looked at him and gone,

00:08:24OK, Le Mans winner, you can come through.

00:08:26Oh, that's a great on-board, but very calm, Oventon then.

00:08:30You can see that the drivers don't turn their heads so much as Jenson only are going,

00:08:34and a couple of others have got through.

00:08:35I didn't realise he'd made such a difficult...

00:08:38He'd had such a difficult start.

00:08:39He just wants to finish the race, obviously.

00:08:41He does, he wants to point.

00:08:42Championship, Drivers' Championship first in this one, I'm guessing,

00:08:45and then Team Championship perhaps a little bit more focus on the next race.

00:08:50Edwards has got the fastest lap, Nathan Edwards,

00:08:52who mentioned many times, a very frustrating start

00:08:55to the Championship for Nathan.

00:08:57He's closing up here, the two Nathans together here.

00:08:59This is going to be an interesting one.

00:09:01I mean, Nathan Edwards, barring the problems he had at the start of the year,

00:09:04would have been a Championship contender for sure.

00:09:07We didn't see him really getting to rub and race with Jamie Osborne

00:09:10as he pops down the inside of the former champion.

00:09:12To be fair to Nathan Harrison here, Nathan's betting himself back into this car.

00:09:16He said it's changed a lot since he was in it in 2020.

00:09:19Yeah, these cars have changed quite a lot.

00:09:22I know they've changed tyre compounds, probably springs,

00:09:25and a couple of other things with these cars since he would have drove them.

00:09:29They were very agricultural back in the day.

00:09:32When I say back in the day, three or four or five years ago.

00:09:34But good to have him back.

00:09:36He's a charger.

00:09:37But them two we're talking about now, they're very hard-charging,

00:09:41Edwards and Harrison, two of my harder-charging cars.

00:09:45Now, JCW Sport, which is the H-Pattern gearbox

00:09:48rather than the more updated gearbox that they have here.

00:09:53And it's Howarth that has come through.

00:09:55And Nicky Gouchy goes for the Dive, the Maltese driver.

00:09:58I hope this isn't the last we see of the Malteser,

00:10:01because I'd love to see him coming back and racing something else with us.

00:10:04He won the Jam Sport Scholarship last year.

00:10:06Henry Howarth, though, has done a mega job this weekend.

00:10:09It looks like Henry Howarth is ahead of his Arch Championship rival, Archie.

00:10:13Of course, Archie Johnson back there in the 50-odd car a little bit further back.

00:10:18So he's ahead of Johnson.

00:10:19So Howarth's doing absolutely everything here to try and get into the lead

00:10:22and get more points on Johnson, who's two cars behind him.

00:10:25And that is a very close battle for the Championship lead in the sports.

00:10:30That shot of them coming onto the Grand Prix circuit,

00:10:32that summed up the sport category throughout this year.

00:10:36They're going hard at it.

00:10:38Look at the front of Gouchy's car.

00:10:40Oh, get round the outside.

00:10:42I'll be well impressed if you pull that off.

00:10:43But no, this is silly hard for.

00:10:46I like it.

00:10:47Let's see what you can do round the outside of clearways,

00:10:49if you're brave enough.

00:10:50Henry Howarth, and so he's got, he's a little bit battle-scarred as it stands.

00:10:54Now he's got, it's a Jagsport car in the lead, Jagsport P2.

00:10:57And then we go back to Chris McKenzie running in the, the JRW team as well.

00:11:03And at the moment, Archie Johnson's got some work to do.

00:11:05Henry Howarth wants the win, goes out wide,

00:11:07dicks down the inside of the Maltese driver and grabs the class lead.

00:11:10Great move.

00:11:11I could smell that a mile off.

00:11:14But look at Gouchy now.

00:11:16Look at his front splitter.

00:11:17He's already took a knock.

00:11:19Those cars at the front have just got little bits hanging off him.

00:11:22If he gets round the outside here,

00:11:28Here comes Archie Johnson up the inside of Chris McKenzie.

00:11:36that the driver of the pink car will take away for him.

00:11:39So championship leaders at the moment, second and third in this group,

00:11:41this class, look how close all the sports are.

00:11:44They are all there.

00:11:45They are all racing hard, which is great to see.

00:11:48I would welcome more JCW Sport cars next year.

00:11:51I hope, I'm sure we will get more of them.

00:11:53This is the great racing that that delivers.

00:11:55And Nicky Gouchy, the Maltese driver, scholarship winner from last year,

00:11:59is leading this one from his teammate.

00:12:01In fact, it's a Jam Sport 1-2-3 now.

00:12:03Wow, there's proper stuff, this.

00:12:05Look at this then.

00:12:06So Howarth there in the 42.

00:12:07He goes wide to the left, and that is a classic, classic move.

00:12:13And to get that done and box it off at the top of Druids

00:12:16is a really exceptional move, really, really.

00:12:19And it's risky, but the risk was proper.

00:12:22And do you know what?

00:12:23He did squeeze him, but he did give him enough Rude on the exit.

00:13:01And this will go all the way down to Hawthorne's, that super quick fifth gear corner onto the Grand Prix

00:13:09The Grand Prix circuit, it's the only place I ever say to people I would accept a race in a

00:13:15British touring car, if somebody asked me.

00:13:17Look at this.

00:13:18Max Edmonton, he's now going to try and get the undercourt.

00:13:20He's got so much speed.

00:13:22Oh, look at that.

00:13:23And he just tags the back, but brilliant stuff.

00:13:25And apparently there's yellow flags being waved, but he's got the job done in this sector.

00:13:30So he's got it done before I can see any yellow flags anyway.

00:13:33He's caught and passed Porter and Uvenden, who are right up the sharp end.

00:13:37And he's off the back after that drive-sharp thing he gets to play.

00:13:39It's incredible from Edmonton.

00:13:42There's a tie-up with that team, actually one of the touring car teams as well, I was pleased to

00:13:46see.

00:13:46So, you know, he's got his eyes, rightly, on a touring car drive in a couple of years' time.

00:13:50I think we'll see Edmonton and the Pro Alloys team.

00:13:55Ah.

00:13:57I think there's been an accident here.

00:14:05Harry Hickton, who was challenging for a podium yesterday, did get the podium in.

00:14:14Look how quick they're on the scene.

00:14:16And he is devastated.

00:14:17And do you know, we've seen him rolling around there.

00:14:20That wasn't, hopefully, because of injury.

00:14:32I don't want to speculate on what's happened, but just so we're clear on this, that was

00:14:37not a nice sight to see.

00:14:38But everybody at home, that was a driver devastated at the damage that was done to that car.

00:14:45Yeah, I'm just so glad he's fine.

00:14:47He's, you know, lovely family, super driver, of course, the Mini Cooper champion.

00:14:53We've got a couple of things to sort of put right, Cooper-wise, to talk about.

00:14:55One thing that we need to put right with Harry Hickton is that viewers, we did explain this

00:15:00on the stream yesterday, but for viewers that have joined us on Sunday afternoon, last time

00:15:04when we were out at Silverstone, Harry was third on the road and had a track limits

00:15:08penalty.

00:15:09So, in the result, he didn't get a podium interview, but after the meeting, after the

00:15:13broadcast finished, that was rescinded.

00:15:15So, he did get his first JCW podium.

00:15:17So, belated congratulations to him on that.

00:15:20We know he's on podium pace.

00:15:21He's a quick fella, but, yeah, not what we wanted to see at all.

00:15:24No, not at all.

00:15:25Proper fast lad.

00:15:26Look at that.

00:15:27He's so upset.

00:15:28He's just gutted because he knows every corner has been ripped off that car.

00:15:32That is a big accident.

00:15:33Whatever has happened there, you could see there was big gouges in the grass.

00:17:42So, we're going to have JCWs and Coopers on the same bill that day.

00:18:45So, Dan, looking pretty racy out there in race one.

00:18:49Yeah, it was good.

00:18:50Not the best day yesterday, but I'd been mega positive overnight this morning.

00:18:55I just felt like it was going to be a good day and just look forward.

00:18:58Mega, mega opening lap.

00:19:00Probably a bit too good in a way, but I think I made seven places on that opening lap.

00:19:04So, give me a bit of breathing space.

00:19:06And then getting a little bit spicy with Dan Row bottom for sixth.

00:19:10And I thought it's best to be a little bit sensible as well.

00:19:13So, great start to the day.

00:19:14When you say maybe a little bit too spicy, did you take a little bit too much life out of

00:19:18your tyres?

00:19:18Because we were wondering whether they'd gone off a bit towards the end.

00:20:46and it just took a bit longer to get through the gears and I knew I was down on power.

00:20:53So, I radioed straight back saying what the issue was

00:20:57and then a vibration followed and then I said, we need to box because I've got no power.

00:21:03You're not going to go anywhere.

00:21:04So, we boxed and then came into the pit lane and then it wouldn't start up.

00:21:09So, yeah, it's so heartbreaking, to be fair,

00:21:15especially since that's probably my championship hope's gone.

00:29:45But, by and large, the ages are coming down.

00:29:53We're looking at there, of course, the reigning Fiesta junior champion.

00:29:56And actually won it.

00:29:57He was in that scenario, ridiculous scenario, really, is that he's so young, he couldn't race senior formula until midway

00:30:05through this year.

00:30:06Having won the junior check, effectively won it a year early.

00:30:08Crazy.

00:30:09And did a bit of testing and, you know, not much testing in this, I hasten to add, but coming

00:30:13in and doing that.

00:30:15And that's the thing with juniors now.

00:30:16If you get a junior that wins a championship in first or second year, potentially they've got a third year

00:47:52I mean, obviously for obvious reasons,

00:47:54but nonetheless, it's been a special season, hasn't it?

00:50:29And we are good to go racing, then, as the field accelerates away, with George

00:50:34Gamble being the driver on pole position.

00:50:37The first time he's been on pole this year.

00:50:38The first time he's been on pole position within his Carrera Cup career, even though

00:50:43he's the outgoing champion.

00:50:45With him at the front of the grid is Sid Smith, who has had a victory.

00:50:48You've got Will Martin third on the grid.

00:50:50And he has taken five wins this year.

00:50:53And he's involved in a big battle for the championship, along with Andrew Rackstraw, who

00:50:58is going to start fifth on the grid.

00:51:00Jonathan Beeson, yesterday, took pole position in the qualifying session in the AM contest.

00:51:06He gets a point for that.

00:51:07And that was the one point he needed to secure the championship.

00:51:10So Jonathan Beeson there in the blue and white car in the background.

00:51:12He is the AM champion.

00:51:14Pro-AM and Pro are still up for grabs.

00:51:17And George Gamble, that pole position yesterday was a surprise, in a sense, because he struggled

00:51:24for pace all year, it would appear.

00:51:25Yeah, it was a return to form, a bit late for the champion, the outgoing champion, but

00:51:31nice to see.

00:51:33He won the second race here last year, so obviously a track he likes anyway.

00:51:37But yeah, it's been a disappointing year by his standards.

00:51:41And nobody could quite explain where the pace had gone, but he certainly had it in a very

00:51:46competitive qualifying session yesterday.

00:51:49Let's see if he can convert that into a win in this, the first of the two races.

00:51:55So the cars making their way through on this formation lap.

00:51:58Let's look at the way they're going to line up with George Gamble on pole position and

00:52:01Sid Smith lining up second.

00:52:03Will Martin starts third and Seb Hopkins fourth, winners both this year.

00:52:07Andrew Rackstraw, championship leader, fifth.

00:52:09And Angus Whiteside, a winner here last year, will start sixth on the grid.

00:52:12Seventh is where you find Max Coates.

00:52:14He's been an outright race winner this year.

00:52:16He's in Pro-Am, as to Will Jenkins and Oliver White and Josh Stanton and Ollie Jackson, who

00:52:20all line up behind James Wallace, outgoing Porsche Junior.

00:52:23He is 12th on the grid ahead of Stephen Shelley.

00:52:25Aaron Mason returns.

00:52:27We saw him at Donington at the start of the year and he's back to round out the season.

00:52:30He qualifies ahead of Henry Dawes.

00:52:31Then Jonathan Beeson, outpacing fellow and runner Carl Cavers.

00:52:35So it's all eyes on Rackstraw versus Martin for the championship.

00:52:38And Will Martin has had the greater number of wins.

00:52:41He's also had the greater number of points, but he's then given away a lot in terms of

00:52:45he's had them taken off him through penalties.

00:52:47Yeah, unfortunately, he's 10 points behind overall after dropped scores, but has lost

00:52:5220 points in penalties to Andrew Rackstraw, who's lost none.

00:52:56So he would be 10 points ahead, which is absolutely crucial when there's so few points available

00:53:02in each race and very little difference between the places, only a point or two in the places.

00:53:07So whatever happens, Will Martin has got to finish in front of Rackstraw to take it really

00:53:11to the next race.

00:53:12And this is the race in which he needs really to win it and have as many cars as possible

00:53:16between himself and Rackstraw because the greater allocation of points is on this first race.

00:53:20Definitely.

00:53:20And fastest lap if he can.

00:53:22So no pressure then.

00:53:23There is Will Martin, who lines up good to go in the even motorsport car.

00:53:28The multicoloured stripy car of Carl Cavers is going to be at the back of the grid.

00:53:31This race is 17 laps or 30 minutes, depending on which is going to be completed first.

00:55:25It's James Wallace to go ahead of Oliver White.

00:55:28And Wallace goes through up from 12th on the green.

00:55:30He has a bit of a twitch at the bottom of Panic Hill.

00:55:32He's able to defend from White.

00:55:33Then the other purple car, Josh Stanton, is next in the queue.

00:55:36To the outside goes the yellow car of Jackson.

00:55:38Up the inside is Stephen Jelly, number 12.

00:55:40Oh, Stephen Jelly just gets into the side of Josh Stanton.

00:55:44That can so easily spin the Porsche out

00:55:46when the engine's at the rear and the front of the car's quite light.

00:55:50A bang on the front can actually often spin it out.

00:55:52Jelly's coming back now at the inside.

00:55:55Oh, so it was really hard racing in these first couple of laps.

00:56:00I think Will Martin was a bit unlucky.

00:56:02He made a great start, but Sid Smith's good start.

00:56:04Closed off that gap that opened up with George Gamble.

00:56:08Still side by side into Hawthorne.

00:56:11And there you've got Aaron Mason squabbling with the car of Will Jenkins.

00:56:16Stephen Jelly behind the pair as they run now down towards Westfield through that right-hander.

00:56:20So Jenkins for the moment staying ahead.

00:57:04But as we know, he doesn't get cleanly through and ends up on the outside for Graham Hill.

00:57:09Rackstraw's now thinking, great, I'll just dive up the inside of both of them.

00:57:13They're both slow off the corner.

00:57:15And then Rackstraw decides to go right around the outside and try and make it up at Surtees.

00:57:20It's a great move.

00:57:22He's given room on the exit and their battle side-by-side continues all the way down to Hawthorne's.

00:57:28Where he takes the position, but Martin cuts back to the inside.

00:57:34On the exit of this corner, and he has to wait to get on the power.

00:57:40Martin's time just moved to the inside beautifully.

00:57:43And at this point, you think, well, the job's done now.

00:57:53I don't think we've seen this very often, have we?

00:57:55A bit of touch of opposite lock.

00:57:57Finally, when we get to Stirling's, Will Martin claims that position.

00:58:02But they lost a lot of ground to the first two in that battle, but great to see.

00:58:06But the ground is being made up, because now Will Martin, look, has really disappeared from Rackstraw,

00:58:11and he's closing on George Gamble.

00:58:13So Sid Smith there leads at the end of lap four by nearly a second and a half.

00:58:17It's George Gamble's second, but Martin is virtually with him now,

00:58:20having just done the fastest lap of the race.

00:58:22Andrew Rackstraw is in fourth, a further second back.

00:58:25So Martin is on a mission.

00:58:26Yeah, and there's a point, obviously, for fastest lap as well, which he wants to take.

00:58:30So that's step one of that accomplished.

00:58:33Now it's a case of how quickly can he get past George Gamble, if indeed he can.

00:58:37Because all the time, they fight, Sid Smith's making hay up the road.

00:58:41As you say, Rackstraw's the win already this year, Sid Smith.

00:58:45And a replay here of the cars bouncing their way on the dirt.

00:58:48And Stirling's, that was Aaron Mason getting it wrong on the dirt.

00:58:51And Henry Dawes being able to come up and have a go at him.

00:58:54As you look at the race leader then, so Sid Smith clear up the road now for Team Parker Racing.

00:58:58But George Gamble in the Roslyn Gold by Century Motorsport car, under attack.

00:59:03Will Martin all over the back of him.

00:59:05Now, it's every man for himself, admittedly, but Gamble can't win the championship.

00:59:08And his teammate, Andrew Rackstraw, can.

00:59:11So Gamble not only wants to hang on to the place for himself,

00:59:14but he needs to hang on to the place for his teammate.

00:59:16Yeah, good point, absolutely.

00:59:18And they are teammates.

00:59:19I'm sure that Gamble will be a little cross.

00:59:22He hasn't made more of his pole position, but he will definitely want to help his teammate.

00:59:27So underneath the vehicle bridge they will come into clearways.

00:59:30There in the background is Andrew Rackstraw, who, on a good first lap,

00:59:33does not seem to have the pace to get back onto terms with Will Martin.

00:59:37This is Rackstraw's view.

00:59:38Look, coming out of Clark Kerr, heading up towards the line.

00:59:40Now he might be able to buy back into this,

00:59:42if Martin gets a little bit stuck there behind Gamble,

00:59:44as they drop now down through that right-hander and panacheal bend.

00:59:48This is lap five.

00:59:49The only thing we have seen in previous races is that Rackstraw can sometimes make a slower start,

00:59:55but then have a lot more pace at the end of the race.

00:59:58That can happen to anybody in this championship.

01:00:01But it does ebb and flow a little bit.

01:00:04We'll see how it pans out over the duration of the race.

01:00:06Now, look, Martin's looking.

01:00:08Is he going to make a dive?

01:00:09No, Gamble just defends that inside,

01:00:12which again costs some time,

01:00:14but may enable Martin to get a better run off the pole.

01:00:16It's extremely close.

01:00:18Is he going to give it a send into Hawthorne?

01:00:20He's trying to tee it up.

01:00:22Might have to go the long way if he tries it at all.

01:00:24And Rackstraw's still not close enough to take advantage

01:00:27as Martin goes to the outside line.

01:00:30He took a tight exit on the opening lap, didn't he?

01:00:32Gamble knows what's coming and moves across and defend.

01:00:34Will Martin has the pace,

01:00:35and he's right there in the back of Gamble,

01:00:37not on the tail anymore,

01:00:38but look who has arrived on his shoulder.

01:00:40Andrew Rackstraw in the space of two corners.

01:00:42He's right back with them.

01:00:44Well, George Gamble was sort of parking it on the apex there,

01:00:48wasn't he,

01:00:49which prevented the cutback which Will Martin was trying to do,

01:00:53and in doing so, by parking it on the apex,

01:00:55he lost a little bit of minimum corner speed,

01:00:58and the timing of the cutback was almost impossible for Martin to do,

01:01:02so he just ran into the back briefly.

01:01:04So passing Gamble is going to be very, very tough.

01:01:10On board with Rackstraw.

01:01:11We're looking at the approach now to Westfield,

01:01:15and look.

01:01:17Yeah, look at the closing speed.

01:01:19That shows you how much Gamble slowed up in the corner

01:01:22to prevent the cutback.

01:01:24I mean, it's fair racing.

01:01:25It's hard, but it's fair racing.

01:01:27So downhill come the century cars,

01:01:30sandwiching the Eden Motorsport entry.

01:01:33That in the hands of Will Martin

01:01:34as they come then along Cooper Strain.

01:01:37While all this is going on,

01:01:38Sid Smith is just driving off into the distance

01:01:40because he doesn't have anybody to worry about,

01:01:41and there he is.

01:01:43It's been an up-and-down sort of a season for Sid Smith,

01:01:45but we've always known that he's got good pace,

01:01:47and George Gamble now having to go defensive.

01:01:49He wants to hang on to second place,

01:01:51but the longer he stacks up Martin,

01:01:52the better it is for Rackstraw,

01:01:54because it prevents Martin gaining more points,

01:01:56and it also gives Rackstraw a chance to challenge,

01:01:59except that he's dropped back a length.

01:02:00So here they come towards Westfield.

01:02:02Rackstraw needs to get himself back

01:02:03into a position where he can challenge.

01:02:06Or is he going to wait and watch this battle blurb

01:02:09between the two of them

01:02:10and hope to take advantage at some point,

01:02:12but certainly Will Martin wants to put a car between himself,

01:02:17even if it is Rackstraw's teammate Gamble,

01:02:20but then Gamble might actually give the place to his teammate,

01:02:23but there's two points between each position.

01:02:26They come through the right-hand of Clark Kerr,

01:02:28Sid Smith then still pulling away up front.

01:02:31It's been a good day for his team,

01:02:32Team Parker Racing,

01:02:33because the squad had a win early on in the day

01:02:35in Portia Sprint Challenge,

01:02:36the Caden series,

01:02:37and leading in Carrera Cup GB.

01:02:38It's now Gamble,

01:02:39Martin Rackstraw go over the line as one.

01:02:41Whiteside is fifth,

01:02:42Hopkins is sixth,

01:02:43Sam Hopkins the rookie leader,

01:02:45indeed the rookie championship winner,

01:02:46and now Martin is on his toes,

01:02:47isn't he,

01:02:48going one side and the other

01:02:49to try to unsettle George Gamble,

01:02:51and Rackstraw right there,

01:02:52waiting for the moment to try to dive up the inside,

01:02:54but Rackstraw has to be savvy about this.

01:02:56He doesn't want to put himself into a position

01:02:58where he might get damaged

01:02:59and not score points at all.

01:03:01Yeah, exactly.

01:03:02I'm just thinking back to the last meeting,

01:03:04Silverstone,

01:03:05I'm not sure we saw it,

01:03:06but I think Martin picked up another penalty

01:03:08for hitting Gamble,

01:03:10didn't he?

01:03:10Yes, that's right.

01:03:10So they've got previous these two,

01:03:13but Gamble's really making it difficult for him.

01:03:16As he's entitled to do,

01:03:18he's not doing anything dirty,

01:03:19he's just defending resolutely

01:03:20as they come down to Hawthorne's land on this.

01:03:22Lap number seven out of 17

01:03:23through the right-hander of Hawthorne.

01:03:25A short straight to Westfield is next.

01:03:27And it may actually be

01:03:28that Gamble's not helping his team-mate too much

01:03:31because look who's looming behind Rackstraw.

01:03:34It's Angus Whiteside.

01:03:35They're closing up.

01:03:37Now that's not what Rackstraw wants at all.

01:03:39George Gamble might be thinking,

01:03:41come on, Andrew,

01:03:41I'm doing my best for you here.

01:03:43You need to have a go at some point

01:03:44as the cars now come out of the left of Sterling's,

01:03:47down now towards Clearways.

01:03:48So, Sid Smith pulling away.

01:03:50Martin has got that fastest lap point

01:03:52that he wants.

01:03:53Indeed, he needs.

01:03:54And as they come into Clark Curve,

01:03:55you're right, Whiteside fifth,

01:03:56Hopkins sixth,

01:03:57not that far behind that leading gang.

01:03:59But there's the leading car of Sid Smith,

01:04:01absolutely way out on its own.

01:04:03Yeah, he's got this.

01:04:04So Sid needs to get into his rhythm,

01:04:07which is already done now

01:04:08as we're on lap eight,

01:04:10but he's well into his rhythm.

01:04:12Just drive his lines,

01:04:13not make any mistakes,

01:04:15not do any lock-ups.

01:04:16And his times are plenty quick enough

01:04:18at the moment to stay out in front.

01:04:21So downhill once again comes George Gamble.

01:04:24This is lap eight

01:04:24and he's still hanging on to that second place,

01:04:27denying Will Martin a chance

01:04:28to gain further points.

01:04:30And Andrew Rack's draw

01:04:31still not quite close enough

01:04:32to make a move.

01:04:33Martin goes to the inside,

01:04:34thought about it,

01:04:34thought better of it,

01:04:35wasn't really close enough.

01:04:36And George Gamble hangs on

01:04:38for at least another corner.

01:04:39I think he was trying desperately

01:04:42to make Gamble take a very defensive line,

01:04:45which would slow him up.

01:04:46which indeed it has,

01:04:47but it only results

01:04:48in another defensive line

01:04:50into Hawthorne.

01:04:51See if he can get the cutback

01:04:52this time, Martin.

01:04:54Gets very close.

01:04:55Has he done it?

01:04:55Oh, not quite.

01:04:57Across the nose of the Porsche.

01:04:59Now the same thing again.

01:05:00Gamble stops the car on the apex.

01:05:02Rack's draw looks to go

01:05:03all the way around the outside.

01:05:05I'm sure Martin isn't going to have that.

01:05:07And George Gamble hangs on to second.

01:05:09Still for third is Martin.

01:05:11But again,

01:05:11there was contact

01:05:12between those two.

01:05:13The front of Will Martin's car

01:05:15has taken quite a pounding in this

01:05:16and he's getting away with it

01:05:17often with its frontal damage.

01:05:19You see Coolant coming out of the car.

01:05:20What has now happened,

01:05:21of course,

01:05:21is that Martin has been delayed.

01:05:23He's fallen back from Gamble

01:05:24and now he's on the back foot

01:05:25defending from Rack's draw.

01:05:27So it's a rather different look

01:05:28from what we had a lap ago.

01:05:30This is on board with Rack's draw.

01:05:31This is a replay

01:05:32of earlier in the race.

01:05:34Gamble goes to the inside,

01:05:36stops the car on the apex.

01:05:37You can see the speed difference

01:05:39as Rack's draw closes up really fast.

01:05:42Martin is just effectively blocked,

01:05:44which is why he

01:05:45ran it

01:05:46into the back of him.

01:05:48Rack's draw trying to go

01:05:49round the outside,

01:05:50but it's not worth the risk,

01:05:51is it?

01:05:52No, because he desperately

01:05:53needs to keep on banking points.

01:05:55OK, he might drop two

01:05:56to Will Martin,

01:05:57but he will still have

01:05:58a championship advantage

01:05:59as the cars then now

01:06:00sprint their way

01:06:00along Cooper's Strait.

01:06:02This is provisionally

01:06:03how we stand.

01:06:03It's going to be four points

01:06:05between them

01:06:05going into the final round

01:06:08of the championship.

01:06:10And if Will Martin

01:06:11doesn't win,

01:06:11well, it's kind of on him,

01:06:13isn't it,

01:06:13as you were explaining

01:06:13with all those penalty points.

01:06:15Yeah, very definitely.

01:06:17And he will rue that.

01:06:18He's had the pace all year.

01:06:20He's had five wins in total,

01:06:22more than anyone else.

01:06:26but those penalties

01:06:27could cost him dear.

01:06:29is more than possible

01:06:31to make up

01:06:31if it's in the second race.

01:06:36has to change his strategy.

01:06:37Rather than thinking

01:06:38about chasing after

01:06:40what he could do with

01:06:41is stacking Andrew

01:06:42Rackstraw back

01:06:43into Angus Whiteside

01:06:44who has got

01:06:44Sepp Hopkins

01:06:45and Max Coates

01:06:46with him.

01:06:47Now, ignore Max Coates

01:06:48with all due deference.

01:06:49He's not in the pro class.

01:06:50He's not scoring points.

01:06:51But if somehow

01:06:52Rackstraw falls

01:06:53behind Whiteside

01:06:54and Hopkins,

01:06:55that's good news

01:06:56for Will Martin.

01:11:15the step up from the Cayman base Porsche Sprint challenge for this season indeed uh Seb Hopkins

01:11:21was the champion in the Cayman series last year so it shows that Porsche pyramid if you like works

01:11:26you win one championship you step up and he's been a double race winner the reverse grid race

01:11:31admittedly but a double race winner in Carrera Cup this year Max Coates though challenging him on the

01:11:35outside gets the switch back to the inside nicely done that by Max Coates and he's going to go through

01:11:39I reckon on the inside he is up to Druid Coates goes by very good move indeed nicely set up

01:11:46nicely timed

01:11:46here at Brands you really do have to set the manoeuvre up early and look at uh look at Will

01:11:53Martin he

01:11:53really slowed up on the way into Graham Hill there to back Ratspaw up he could see perhaps the gap

01:11:59getting a little bit big and he wants Angus White's side back on the the tail of the rear bumper

01:12:05Andrew Rackstrom so Oliver White's depending on what Max Coates does in terms of fastest lap points

01:12:12in this race may not quite have secured Pro-Am will double check at the end of the race as

01:12:17towards the right hand of Hawthorns comes Oliver White with Ollie Jackson on the outside and off the road

01:12:22goes Jackson and around he will go Jackson spins it all the way around engages first gear rejoins the

01:12:29race as though nothing had happened and even tries to fight back against Henry Dawes but that won't have

01:12:33done his tyres much good yeah that just that was what I was worried about with Steve and Jenny earlier

01:12:38a

01:12:38very slight touch can unsettle these cars well Jackson on the outside in the yellow car just gets a touch

01:12:45there and that just puts him wide obviously on the grass he loses the grip but fortunately not into

01:12:51the barriers in any way shape or form as another ex-touring car driver in the shape of Steve and

01:12:57Jenny

01:12:57he goes past just got run out wide by Ollie White so blood pressure returns to normal for Ollie Jackson

01:13:06uh meanwhile Max Coates is under attack now from Seb Hopkins James Wallace as you say closing up as well

01:13:13so there are more and more cars being stacked into the queue James Wallace joins the party White and then

01:13:18Stanton not far behind and in fairness as yet Rackstraw has not cracked he's not opened the door to give

01:13:23Angus Whiteside any chance Angus now frustrated he's on the lights as though somehow that is going to

01:13:28open the door for him it might just distract Rackstraw but not certainly is it right now Rackstraw's sort of

01:13:34he's in in the difficult places and he doesn't want to attack Martin for fear of being pushed off or

01:13:41losing

01:13:41losing possession but he's trying also to keep the pace up as high as possible and stop uh uh and

01:13:48stop Angus

01:13:48Whiteside getting on the back of him but uh it's a tense battle yes Will Martin having

01:13:53done the fastest lap of the race is now almost doing the slowest because he's trying to stack

01:13:57everybody up so there's more and more pressure applied to uh Andrew Rackstraw in fourth place

01:14:02the leader Sid Smith is now 3.4 seconds up the road that's that's 10 seconds up the road from

01:14:09this third place line of cars look every time you look there's another one added on at the back yeah

01:14:14I'm sure that Will Martin said oh I had some car trouble and that's as fast as I could go

01:14:20but we can we know when the championship's on the line that tactical driving is is at play so the

01:14:27peloton comes across the line headed by Will Martin Max Coates nothing to lose in all of this and in

01:14:32fairness he's picking his way through pro cars so actually although they're losing places they're not

01:14:37losing points because uh Max Coates is in the pro out contest and now Rackstraw does commit to the

01:14:43outside line-up at Druids it doesn't work but that's the first time we've really in recent laps seen him

01:14:47have a go there is now a five second penalty for Carl Cavers for exceeding track limits but with all

01:14:52due

01:14:53deference Carl was in last spot anyway so it matters not there are now 10 cars in this group

01:14:59people ask for close racing well this is obviously what you need to do have a championship on the line

01:15:04and uh and slow the pack up so it is Will Martin who is doing all of the stacking uh

01:15:11this time around

01:15:11actually he just extends the advantage slightly from Rackstraw who's having to think about defending

01:15:15there's a splitter line on the ground as they go into Hawthorne's then as you see Josh Stanton go by

01:15:19uh he's had a win this year within Pro-Am but as the cars come up towards Hawthorne fourth in

01:15:25the championship

01:15:26as it stands is Josh uh within that Pro-Am fight still being led by Ollie White but uh Max

01:15:32Coates

01:15:32currently leading in the race and looking for uh a third victory of the Cincinnati class there he is

01:15:38number 71 Max Coates the business development manager up at Croft Circuit uh in Wolf Yorkshire and he's

01:15:44about to go under the bridge back down towards clearways and into Clark County well I have to say poor

01:15:49old

01:15:49Sid Smith out leading the race by uh three and a half seconds has had no coverage at all but

01:15:54he's driven

01:15:54beautifully so trying to remember what color the car is no it's the white and green car of Sid Smith

01:15:59it's

01:15:59coming out of Druids right now there it is and he has absolutely dominated this race uh granted he's

01:16:04been helped a little bit by George Gamble uh defending from Will Martin earlier on but even so he has

01:16:10not

01:16:10put a wheel wrong and a bit like we were saying before the race about George Gamble's pole position

01:16:14why couldn't that have happened uh other events well the same is true of Sid Smith some days he's

01:16:19looked really quick and other days he's struggled a bit yeah I like the way Sid Smith drives he's

01:16:23aggressive he's fast he grabs the car by the scruff of the deck I like to watch him race but

01:16:28he's

01:16:29probably going to get out of this race and say where was everything what what went on behind I didn't

01:16:34understand he's barely seen another car really since uh Druids on lap one there is George Gamble

01:16:39three and a half seconds back at the start of this lap and this is for third so still Will

01:16:43Martin

01:16:44Andrew Rackstraw, Angus Whiteside, Max Coates he's been the one edging forward uh Will Martin in

01:16:48fairness has done a good job he's not made a mistake he's done his level best to score points uh

01:16:53early on

01:16:53realized that wasn't happening against Gamble changed the strategy uh and he is going to outscore

01:16:59Rackstraw it is going to benefit him a little in the championship and he's done what he can do and

01:17:04in fairness to him he hasn't backed the cars up to the extent that they were absolutely all over the

01:17:09back of Rackstraw he hasn't been really difficult he's just not been able to go either not been able

01:17:15to go any faster or chosen a pace that at least keeps them close behind whereas Sid Smith is about

01:17:22to

01:17:22come out of Druids and as he drops down the hill he might see another car only coming over the

01:17:26timing

01:17:27line granted as through there goes Will Martin still hanging on to uh third place and then the

01:17:32line behind pretty much goes all the way back to 14th it's nearly everybody else and it almost looks

01:17:37like Will Martin's now extending that gap oh he slows down a lot at Druids then pulls a nice little

01:17:43cap on the way out Stephen Jally versus Ollie Jackson Jally in the silver car Jackson in the yellow

01:17:49livery Will Jenkins just up ahead of them locks up scrabbles out wide so Jally gets to the inside

01:17:54Jackson tries to go with him uh Henry Dawes is there in the background and both Jally and Jackson

01:18:00get past Jenkins yeah a couple of old BTCC storm walks fighting it out there in the 17 car grid

01:18:11so they go down towards Hawthorne Sid Smith it's on his way towards the checkered flag and a second

01:18:15outright win of the year just trims the lawn on the outside of Sheen Curve but it's been a really

01:18:19impressive drive this for Sid he's about to come down towards clearways then it's George Gamble

01:18:24hanging on to second place it's going to be Will Martin towards the line for third but Sid Smith is

01:18:29on target then for win number two of the season he's third in the points as well he comes up

01:18:33towards

01:18:33the timing line Sid Smith wins race one at Brands Hatch in the final weekend of Carrera Cup GB for

01:18:392025

01:18:40George Gamble last year's champion takes second and then Will Martin should be good to hang on to that

01:18:45third place he's got the point for the fastest lap he outscores Andrew Rakstraw by one place so it is

01:18:52Martin for third Rakstraw for fourth Angus Whiteside fifth sixth to win Pro-Am Max Coates ahead of

01:18:58Hopkins Wallace White Stanton Jally Jackson Jenkins Dawes and that takes you all the way down to 14th place

01:19:05they came pouring through in a line 15th Aaron Mason 16th ought to be there the Am champion Jonathan Beeson

01:19:10and it will be Carl Cavers with that time penalty behind so a really good drive that as far as

01:19:18Sid Smith

01:19:19was concerned it means that the pro battle will go to race two Pro-Am also goes to race two

01:19:2711 points

01:19:29available and 11 point gap so we can't confirm that until the end of race two but even if it

01:19:35were a tie

01:19:36probably White's had more wins so I think he's championed laps I think we can call it okay crucial part

01:19:43of

01:19:43uh the second half this uh uh two two race uh final weekend is of course the reverse grid draw

01:19:50so

01:19:50anything from fourth fifth or sixth could be reversed for the second race and that could be quite crucial

01:19:56um you know for example were uh the top four to be reversed uh Rackstraw would be on pole

01:20:08so down the pit lane comes Andrew Rackstraw then uh so fourth place back to the point still in charge

01:20:15but uh it's going to be an interesting second race isn't it with uh Will Martin uh having to do

01:20:21all the work

01:20:21he's outscored Rackstraw not by as many points as he would like so it still puts the pressure on him

01:20:26for later in the day

01:20:27the results of round 15 though confirm the win for Sid Smith with George Gamble second third Will Martin

01:20:32Andrew Rackstraw fourth and then Angus Whiteside fifth Max Coates wins Pro-Am once again he's sixth

01:20:38overall ahead of Seb Hopkins and James Wallace Ollie White second in Pro-Am ninth overall and Josh Stanton

01:20:43rounds out the top 10. Stephen Jelly 11th Ollie Jackson 12th Will Jenkins 13th ahead of Henry Dawes and Aaron

01:20:53Mason on his return to the championship Jonathan Beeson wins the Am class ahead of

01:20:57Carl Cavers

01:21:04and Andrew Rackstraw is now seven ahead in the championship over Will Martin provisionally

01:21:09Sid Smith third and George Gamble fourth Angus Whiteside next ahead of Seb Hopkins

01:21:16Ollie White is ahead of Max Coates by 13 points according to that with 11 available that would give

01:21:23Ollie White the championship so some uh number crunching needs doing and Ollie Jackson is third

01:21:28behind White and Coates Jonathan Beeson has already won in Am we'll double check the Pro-Am situation we

01:21:34know that Pro will go down to the wire uh and a race win for Sid Smith it's been a

01:21:40really good drive

01:21:40that by Sid helped as we were saying during the course of the race with what was going on around

01:21:44but

01:21:44even so uh some good racing all the way through so Sid Smith's second victory of the season and a

01:21:51very

01:21:51happy race winner he is here at Browns Hatch and there's plenty more action to come after the break

01:21:59well it was George Gamble on pole position but it was a great start for Sid Smith who took the

01:22:04lead of

01:22:04the race and then didn't look back taking his second win of the season in the Porsche Carrera Cup and

01:22:12I'm

01:22:12delighted to say that Sid is here with me now and Sid it was just a cracking absolutely dominant really

01:22:18I mean a three and a half second lead you didn't really look back yeah it was one of those

01:22:22I got uh

01:22:22well like a really good start and it was close between well the three podium sitters um coming

01:22:27into turn three uh luckily I got inside held my own and then uh after that once you've got a

01:22:32gap

01:22:32round here you can finally take your breath and relax and not try and beat yourself in the trees around

01:22:36the back um no but it was a mega race uh the contact team enough for preparing such a good

01:22:42car um

01:22:43and yeah it was just kind of just get my head down it felt like a long race i'll give

01:22:46you that um

01:22:47but yeah no it was good win i'm just really happy yeah and a nice way to kind of almost

01:22:51round out the

01:22:52end of the season yep it's got one more race to go um that's done reverse grid picked out of

01:22:56a hat

01:22:56so we'll see where i'm starting for that but hopefully we can come through again you never know so

01:23:09behind will martin but a great podium finish for you yeah solid second place um didn't really have

01:23:14the pace at the start of the race at the end we started catching back up to sid but i

01:23:18think with

01:23:18the setup we went was probably a bit too conservative we expected the tire to sort of

01:23:22you know get the temperature a lot better than it did and it's still quite cold really isn't it so

01:23:26um

01:23:26but yeah it's still a great race it's going to be pretty on now for me and said for third

01:23:30in the championship so um yeah solid solid performance i was really happy with pole yesterday so

01:23:34the podium's great great today yeah well congratulations on that and uh eyes forward for the final

01:23:39race and let's bring in will martin will i mean it was a great great battle for third you managed

01:23:46to hang on to the final podium position but raksha he was breathing down your neck yeah certainly um

01:23:51you know it's a big games between all the teams um so i think we're all playing them you know

01:23:56it's a

01:23:57tight championship and so you've got to make some you know different sorts of moves so yeah it's going

01:24:02to be tight uh we'll see what the reverse grid is and see what we can do in the last

01:24:06race exactly i

01:24:07mean looking into the crystal ball what does the final race bring do you think honestly you can

01:24:11never tell um i just got to get as many points as possible and then we'll see what happens behind
