00:00:15on those glory days of grandstands and really bringing motorsport as a whole to the British

00:00:21public. Steve has always been the familiar face at the British Touring Car Championship

00:00:25from flicking on the television and seeing that same person year in year out and I think

00:00:29he's going to leave an incredible legacy. I remember you when I was a kid watching the

00:00:32TV, I remember all those great races, you've talked us through, you're going to be greatly

00:00:36missed. Steve you've been here throughout my whole journey, someone's got some big shoes

00:00:40to fill. You first interviewed me at Alton Park in 2009 and you made me feel so calm, so relaxed

00:00:47and it was a joy talking to you. It's been a joy talking to you ever since. My first interview

00:00:53with Steve I was beyond star struck and even to this day I'm still struck just by how good

00:01:00your hair looks. You've been the consummate professional in the BTCC, you've helped bring it all together

00:01:06to our millions of fans over the years and you've been the one constant, well actually the other

00:01:12constant is your hair. Your hair has been absolutely magnificent for the last 33 years so congratulations

00:01:18to you and your hair and thank you very much from Tokyo. Thank you for everything you've

00:01:24done. Thank you for all the support over the years, you've been a great friend and I hope

00:01:28pastures new a kind to you and I wish you all the best in the future. Enjoy retirement, hope

00:01:32the golf gets a little better. We will thoroughly, thoroughly miss you.

00:01:39Goodness me, that was meant to be a trail for live golf which is coming up on ITV next week.

00:01:45I am giving up on this running order. Now it's, well some very kind words there and they

00:01:51are very much appreciated. Jade and Paul are here. We're into the last hour almost but other

00:01:58things to talk, why we just had a very confusing finish to the F4 race which was a great shame

00:02:03the last support race. They tried to salvage something from it but obviously it wasn't possible.

00:02:09Yeah I think it just became safety is paramount, you know some of the cars were on slick steel,

00:02:13some on wets, you know it got to the point where they'd red flagged it, gave everyone a chance,

00:02:17went back out, it rained a bit more and we just don't want to risk anything going wrong.

00:02:22So I think probably the right call, although probably frustrating for the drivers but right call in the end

00:02:27and it means we can also get the touring car race underway when it's still light if we can call it that.

00:02:33Well that is, I mean it adds a very special extra ingredient to the touring car action that's going to conclude our day here.

00:02:39Is it going to be wet? Is it going to be in between? Is it going to pour? Is it going to, what are the decisions being made down there?

00:02:46There'll be a lot of decisions because it's not just the tyres you've got to worry about, it's how soft do you make the car?

00:02:51Do you change roll bars? Do you, you know, do other things with brake bias and how's the car going to react?

00:02:57There's a lot of things that me and Jade can tell you about what is going to be going through their mind.

00:03:01The one thing is, it's not particularly horrendously wet, it's greasy and we've seen that in the mini race where it can be a bit of a nightmare.

00:03:08So what I'm looking forward to Steve is whatever the conditions are, the first five people are very spicy and they will be able to win in the wet.

00:03:17It will be brilliant. Yes. And we've got Gordon Sheddon on pole position, which you predicted.

00:03:22I messed up the reverse grip, goodness knows how, but it's Gordon Sheddon on pole position.

00:03:28I mean, it would be wonderful if he could get some kind of a result from such a frustrating season so far.

00:03:34I think so. I'd like to see Gordon do well. He's a triple champion, proper guy.

00:03:39He's had the worst start to a year I can ever imagine anybody having. If anybody deserves this, it's him.

00:03:46But the other people behind will want this as well. So he ain't going to have it easy whatever the weather is.

00:03:51It's going to be a real cracker. Yeah. Senna Proctor on the front row as well.

00:03:55I mean, what form he's showing on his return? Yeah, absolutely.

00:03:58I mean, he's come back fighting, hasn't he, after a few years out, but, you know, he's got a great car underneath him.

00:04:03He's probably got in the best seat possible on the grid and he's always done pretty well around here.

00:04:08But like always saying, he's got, you know, Sheddon front row with him. He's got Josh Cook behind him.

00:04:14You know, big names around him. It's not your usual sort of reverse grid where you give the sort of underdog a chance.

00:04:19It's the it's the names that are, you know, up there all the time.

00:04:22So he'll have a fight on his hands and the weather is going to play into that as well.

00:04:26And I think it's going to be a good, entertaining race three.

00:04:29Yeah. But still the star of race two. He only came fourth, but Tom Ingram was brilliant again.

00:04:34Yeah. Do you know, that was very reminiscent of when Sutton had such a dominant car and he could go on whatever tire he wanted and he'd still win the race.

00:04:42I remember at Snetterton, I think he won on a hard tire.

00:04:44Other people were on mediums, I think, a couple of years ago in his championship winning year in the Focus.

00:04:48And that is reminiscent of that. I've got to say, it's the first time I've really seen that car and thought I actually if I was driving any other car,

00:04:57I would be gutted for the season ahead because that looked pretty, pretty dominant.

00:05:02It's it's a worry for everyone else, but we know what a class act is and we know how much work goes in with it.

00:05:07OK, round 15 coming up. I think the cars are heading to the grid.

00:05:10I'm going to throw to a break, but just about anything could happen on your screen at this point.

00:05:17Round 30, he's go! Good getaway by Kamish. Northern Vendor start by Chris Smiley.

00:05:33And it's going to be Tom Ingram who leads, but Smiley now gets all the boots coming out of the corner.

00:05:37He's up the inside. Tom Ingram there who crosses the line. Tom Ingram wins at Alton Park.

00:05:43A 35th win of his career.

00:05:47The red lights will go out now. Sutton goes to the inside, leaves it late, dives up the inside and he should come out ahead.

00:05:53Sutton leads. Bad news because that is Dan Lloyd off the road. It's a win for Ash Sutton at Alton Park. The Ford crosses the line to win.

00:06:01Well, Tom Ingram and Ash Sutton have shared the victories so far today, but now it's wet, it's wild. It really is up for grabs out there.

00:06:11This is the reverse grid line-up. Gordon Shedden on pole position alongside Senna Proctor.

00:06:17Cook and Row Bottom and then just look, Jake Hill and Tom Ingram who were locked together in that second race this afternoon.

00:06:24But Tom Ingram drove brilliantly. So how exactly is it out there? Well, this is Ash Sutton's view.

00:06:32It's raining pretty steadily or it has been in the last 10 minutes and there's a lot of surface water.

00:06:38I think that helps the decision making regarding tyres. But you can see how challenging it all is.

00:06:45They've had a couple of laps to try to get used to the very much changing conditions here at Alton Park.

00:06:53But it's going to go ahead and it's round 15 of the Quick Fit British Touring Car Championship.

00:06:57Let's go down onto that grid and join Louise.

00:07:00Thank you, Steve. And as you can see, no cars here yet. So the gates have literally just opened

00:07:06because the cars are doing two laps to the grid taking into account the conditions.

00:07:11So Jade, who I've grabbed, otherwise this is just me running around on my own.

00:07:15Just explain to us what the situation is here. Why do they do two laps to the grid?

00:07:19Essentially because they haven't had any wet running at all, you know, this weekend or today.

00:07:23They give them two laps to get their eye in essentially.

00:07:26So whenever there's a true change in conditions, it's been declared a wet race.

00:07:29It means they have two laps to kind of just suss what they want to do.

00:07:32They'll stop on the grid, let their engineers know how it all feels.

00:07:35And any small changes they can try and make on the grid.

00:07:38There was quite a lot of rain coming down, but it's stopped now.

00:07:41How long do you think, looking at this track underneath us, how long is this going to take to dry?

00:07:46And what have we got here? I mean, could you gamble on the slick here or is this definitely wet territory?

00:07:50This is wet as it stands, but as we can see, it's not a cold day.

00:07:55So we saw in FP2 yesterday, some of the cars went out on wets and instantly the drivers were going,

00:08:00it's actually not a wet tyre, but it's not quite a slick.

00:08:03So we could have a similar condition here.

00:08:05I think the ones at the front would be silly to maybe go on a slick here because they want to stay in that position.

00:08:10But the ones at the back, they might go, do you know what? It's worth a risk.

00:08:13But as it stands, as we stand here now, this is a wet tyre condition, but we've got half an hour of racing yet to go in a warm condition day.

00:08:21So it could all change.

00:08:23This is exactly why Ash Sutton jumped down to P4 in that first race, isn't it?

00:08:28The cars have really fallen his way and a few other drivers as well who got rid of that unfavourable tyre early on.

00:08:33Exactly that. And that's why those sorts of names are always at the front, always able to compete at a high level because their brain capacity isn't just taken up by racing.

00:08:42They're able, with their engineers as well, to discuss tactics and it's played into Ash's hands.

00:08:47Now, this sort of thing for me is super exciting. It levels everything out.

00:08:51Some cars that are good in the dry are not so good in the wet. We've got reverse grid. It's race three.

00:08:56You know, this is the sort of thing that gets my heart rate up. I'm super, super excited for this one.

00:09:00One driver that it hasn't worked for is Gordon Shedden, who went out on the hard tyre earlier on.

00:09:05So he was really hoping. He's got the soft up his sleeve, but of course now it's not going to be any joy to him whatsoever.

00:09:11However, it is the opposite situation for Senator Proctor, who he's not had to use the hard tyre, basically.

00:09:19So this is exactly the situation that he wanted. So let's just see if I can dive in and grab a word.

00:09:27Now he's, yep. So Senna, that rain dance that you were doing in the truck when I saw you earlier on, it's absolutely worked, hasn't it?

00:09:39Yeah, absolutely it has, yeah. We don't have to go on the hard tyre now.

00:09:43You know, our strategy of soft, soft compound tyre in race one and two worked.

00:09:49So, you know, a bit by luck also. It's rained, we're on the front row and, you know, generally we're pretty good in the wet, so we should be OK.

00:09:56What is the track like out there? You've just had a couple of laps to get to the grid. What did you think?

00:10:01It's wet enough, definitely for wets, but there's not a lot of standing water about.

00:10:07It'll be getting dry towards the end of the race, but it's not bad at all.

00:10:14There's no standing water, so hopefully the race should be quite calm and we should just hopefully drive off into the distance. That's the plan.

00:10:19I mean, how's your day been otherwise? It's really been about fighting back from, I won't say, well, I will say the word track limits because that was the bane of your life yesterday in qualifying, wasn't it?

00:10:28It really compromised you. The pace was there, but just couldn't get a lap in.

00:10:31Yeah, absolutely. You know, we were fast yesterday. We're just a little bit of mind-mistaking quality, just got a bit greedy with the track limits.

00:10:40You know, we were still 10th and then we've just been about out of position all day. Two apes places, bit of contact in race two, but, you know, this is hopefully redemption for us now.

00:10:50Good stuff. Right, let's see who else is here. Gordon Shedden is here, so let me dive in and grab a quick word with him.

00:10:55Now, he is a driver that it hasn't really worked out for. Gordon used up the hard tyre earlier on, so he would, under normal circumstances, have had a lovely soft tyre available to him now.

00:11:05Well, pole position, but not with the weather conditions that you wanted.

00:11:11No, it's quite tricky out there just to decide what to do. You know, we used the hard tyre in race one to try and leave two lots of the soft tyre, so I would really have preferred it to have been dry today in this race.

00:11:24So, yeah, hasn't really fallen our way in some parts, but we've just got to get on with it and make the best we can. I think it's in the middle for everybody.

00:11:32A lot of mechanics running around this car. Is it just tyres that are looking out or are you making some set-up changes whilst we're here on the grid to accommodate the condition?

00:11:39Yeah, just some last-minute set-up changes just to try and help it a little bit.

00:11:43What are your thoughts going into this race? How long do you think it's going to be before we're going to see a dry line appearing reasonably quickly?

00:11:50Yeah, it could be. It's just how much you lose. If you started on slicks, I don't really have the option from here, from the front row, but it could dry quickly as the race goes on, or it could rain again.

00:12:01So, yeah, it's just one of those. You could look like a hero or zero if you make that difference in tyre choice.

00:12:08Okey-dokey. I think Paul was going to try and go to the back of the grid. I think he's made his way down there, so let's go down to Paul and see who's got down at the back of the grid.

00:12:18Yes, I have. I've got Dan Lloyd with me. The damage on the side of this car is minimal. I cannot believe how fast Dan Lloyd's car went in. They have done a great job to fix this car as it is.

00:12:29I thought, when I seen that on board, that car was not in a great way. Dan, good to see you back on the grid. The damage isn't that bad, is it? Team done a good job.

00:12:37Yeah, it's unbelievable, to be honest. When I got out of that car, when I had the crash, I was just thinking crash damage. I was absolutely devastated. So, to find out it is OK. Do you know what I mean? It's just a massive, massive relief after that impact.

00:12:52It's been a rollercoaster weekend, isn't it, mate? I mean, this could be very interesting, though, couldn't it?

00:12:58Yeah, I mean, we were supposed to be on the hards for the last race, so the rain's done us a favour, but, you know, we had a chance of being qualifying on the front row. First race was great. We had mega pace in race two, so just got to a weekend of what could have been. The pace is mega. The team are doing a fantastic job. We're just not capitalising it at the minute, but it will come, and I think in future I might just stay at home at Alton Park, just have a beer and save some money.

00:13:28Don't talk about my circuit like this. Listen, quick one. My old team manager, Marvin Humphreys, who's now team manager at Accelerate for Tom Ingram & Co., he always said to me, this is definitely slicks. It's looking like it's a slick.

00:13:42It's a tough one. I mean, for us, it's an obvious choice because we had to run on hards, so realistically, we would be running round at the back doing nothing. This is probably a little bit of a gamble. Going out then, it looks like it's definitely going to dry at some point.

00:13:58Whoever does go on slicks, it is a bit of a risk around here.

00:14:03Very, very last question. What caused the accident, mate? Was it just too much kerb? You got squeezed? What was the deal?

00:14:08I got squeezed a little bit. I got the run on Cook. He's a clever guy. He knew what was going on. He squeezed me enough so I had to go on the grass, but then he gave me room, but it was a bit too late by that point.

00:14:21And it's such a big, big kerb on the inside. It just chucked me off. So, yeah, like I said, I'm just glad the car's OK and we can move on.

00:14:29Good man. Focus, enjoy. Good for you, mate. It's going well. Back to you, Lou.

00:14:33So, I am up here with Josh Cook, who, as you know, normally has his own face on the side of his helmet.

00:14:40But on this occasion, Steve, in your honour, he's got a Steve Ryder mask. I can't think where he got that from, Jada.

00:14:49Anyway, let's talk about the upcoming race. I want to ask you, first of all, we've just been hearing from Dan Lloyd,

00:14:56who's down at the back of the grid after that big incident. You were kind of just around about and there with him at the time.

00:15:02What did you see from your view?

00:15:06Wasn't really in the same race as him. So, I saw him closing pretty rapidly on me going up the hill.

00:15:13So, I just moved over to the right to let him come past and all of a sudden he disappeared.

00:15:18I had no idea where he went, but I left him enough room. So, yeah, to be honest, I don't know why he tried to go on the outside of the next corner.

00:15:25But, you know, I was just, I wasn't in his race. I was just going to let him go. So, I'm not really sure what happened.

00:15:31OK, well, let's talk about the race up ahead. I mean, this has really fallen your way, hasn't it?

00:15:34Because you, in theory, should have been using the hard tyres at this point, but you've got the wets on. So, happy days.

00:15:41Yeah, this is, when we were planning it this morning, you know, how we were going to use our tyre allocation,

00:15:47how the strategy was going to pan out, we looked at the weather radar. We had two different ones.

00:15:51One said it was going to rain, the other said it wasn't. So, we went with the hopeful bet that it was going to rain.

00:15:56Luckily, it has. But the circuit around here, especially with how warm it is, does dry up very quickly.

00:16:01So, I think everybody in their right mind will be starting on wets.

00:16:05But it's not out of the question that we'll see a dry line towards the end and it'll be whoever looks after their tyres the best.

00:16:11What is the situation then? Because if everybody's on the hard, you're fine for overtaking, obviously, all around the track.

00:16:16But until that point when you maybe get a dry line, what's the score?

00:16:19Well, it's a tough one. And to be honest, if you get to the point where everybody's on wets, they've worn them out, they're overheating, there's a dry line coming.

00:16:29It's just pure survival. You know, if you've got a good car balance, you can still work with it.

00:16:34Generally, in our front wheel drive cars, you work the fronts really hard. They start to go off.

00:16:38You just struggle to put any power down. So, yeah, we need to be mindful of that.

00:16:43Hopefully, it does stay wet for the entire race. It'd be nice if it rained a little bit more.

00:16:46But, you know, we'll just see what we can do from here. Like I said, we've had a tough weekend as a team, but we just keep battling on.

00:16:53All the guys and girls are doing a great job. So we just need to try and reward them with a good race in this last one.

00:16:57OK, Jackie, do you know, I quite fancy the version where we get a dry line and everybody's got to earn their money out there.

00:17:03But we will be finding out exactly what we're going to get after this short break.

00:17:22And it's a wet track. It's a reverse grid. It's a challenging circuit.

00:17:26It's going to be dramatic.

00:17:28And as ever, Steve Ryder is absolutely right.

00:17:30It's the perfect combination for a fitting final race, isn't it?

00:17:34Because the wet conditions are always a great leveller.

00:17:37Everybody is on the wet tyre, at least as they leave the grid now.

00:17:42The track conditions look like they'll dry.

00:17:44We've got the reverse grid, the top nine reverse.

00:17:47So Shedden gets a chance from pole position.

00:17:50It's a fascinating race in prospect.

00:17:52So, Gordon Shedden on pole position.

00:17:55Now, bear in mind, he started the day 25th on the grid.

00:17:58He got 16th in the first race.

00:17:59He got 9th in the second race.

00:18:01He's on pole position for the final.

00:18:03That underlines how you rebuild your day.

00:18:06Let's look at the grid then.

00:18:07It's Gordon Shedden on pole position.

00:18:09Senna Proctor with him at the front.

00:18:11Two eighth places for Senna.

00:18:12Josh Cook starts third after a 9th and a 17th today.

00:18:15Then it's Dan Rowbottom 14th in race one and 6th in race two.

00:18:20Jake Hill comes next.

00:18:21Tom Ingram alongside.

00:18:22Then it's Tom Chilton and Adam Morgan eighth.

00:18:25Ninth is Ash Sutton.

00:18:27Dan Kamish will line up tenth.

00:18:29Ahead of Mikey Doble and Sam Osborne.

00:18:31Then James Dorlin and Chris Smiley.

00:18:34After the restart racing Hyundai, you've got Daryl De Leon,

00:18:37who's had a tough day with an 18th and a 15th.

00:18:39Aidan Moffat next, ahead of Finn Leslie in his first outing in a touring car.

00:18:43Max Hall next.

00:18:44Dexter Patterson is going to be starting from 19th on the grid

00:18:47with Nicholas Hamilton for company.

00:18:49We understand no Aaron Taylor-Smith nor Nick Halstead

00:18:52after problems in the earlier race.

00:18:54Stephen Jelly has had all sorts of engine-related issues

00:18:56and he is going to start 23rd.

00:18:58Dan Lloyd's rebuilt car, or repaired car, 24th.

00:19:01And Charles Rainford excluded for a technical infringement over boosting,

00:19:05we understand, in the second race.

00:19:07He's going to start at the very back.

00:19:09So the boost that the drivers are going to carry is based on how they crossed the line in the earlier race.

00:19:16So Gordon Shedden starting on pole and with the full allocation of eight laps available.

00:19:21And that scales all the way back to the race.

00:19:23Two winner, Ash Sutton, on just the one lap.

00:19:25And then behind him, they're all on eight laps of boost.

00:19:29But it has become a pretty wet circuit in a pretty short space of time.

00:19:32It has, but everyone's mindful of how quickly the track dried yesterday.

00:19:37But it was a lot warmer yesterday.

00:19:39It will dry because we've got all, well, 23 cars on track.

00:19:44But I don't think it's going to dry quite as quick.

00:19:47But at some point during the race, depending on safety cars, we could well be dry.

00:19:51That side of the track looks distinctly dry out.

00:19:53Before we go racing, let's just quickly tidy up that Dan Lloyd situation.

00:19:57You heard him saying on the grid, he felt he was squeezed by Josh Cook.

00:20:00Tim, let's have a look at this.

00:20:01Yeah, this is a much better view we'll get.

00:20:03Because what happens is he gets a run out of Knickerbrook.

00:20:06That's Josh Cook in front.

00:20:07Look, he's got momentum.

00:20:08He's got a run.

00:20:08He goes to the inside.

00:20:10And he feels that Cook squeezed him onto the grass.

00:20:12He was all four wheels on the grass and lost control completely.

00:20:17I mean, not his fault.

00:20:18But as I suspected when I first saw it there, had to have been another car involved.

00:20:23Cook pushed me on the grass is his explanation.

00:20:26There was some room between them.

00:20:28I think it was more a case of Dan Lloyd, bless him, taking avoiding action.

00:20:32I think most drivers would have stayed on the track.

00:20:34And if anything, forced Cook to run wide.

00:20:37There was more tarmac to the right than there was to the left.

00:20:39But a very unfortunate instant, great job by restart to get him back out for this race.

00:20:44So, Gordon Shedden on pole position.

00:20:47An important race in a sense because the local Toyota Gazoo Racing UK team has had a tough start to the season.

00:20:53It's been a really tough return to the championship for Gordon Shedden.

00:20:56Is he, as it's now starting, yes, to brighten a little bit once more here.

00:21:00Is he going to be hard to beat or is this an absolute lottery, this race?

00:21:04It is a lottery.

00:21:05He's taking no chances with his grid box.

00:21:07He's a good four feet behind the front of his grid box.

00:21:09So, there's no danger of being out of place there.

00:21:12Josh Cook, on the other hand, is right to the front of his.

00:21:15So, he's signaling his intentions off the second row.

00:21:18Josh Cook also looking for a win.

00:21:19We've had nine different winners of races so far this year.

00:21:22He could be on, perhaps should be on, for a tenth.

00:21:25The circuit is wet.

00:21:27The five-second board is shown.

00:21:29Round 15 of the Quick Fix British Touring Car Championship.

00:21:32Yeah, slightly slow initially from Shedden, but he managed to hold the lead.

00:21:58I thought he was going to lose it, but it looked to me very much like Jake Hill was almost in the pit wall.

00:22:06Absolutely right, because he committed and then Dan Robofton moved across as they come down towards a very wet Island Van Hairpin for the first time.

00:22:12Shedden with all of that experience.

00:22:15And if you're thinking to yourself, yeah, Lock Hill reign.

00:22:17Don't think about that, because right now in Cheshire, it is Gordon Shedden that leads the way.

00:22:21And I'm sure it'll be bright and sunny at Lock Hill when we get there in August.

00:22:23Shedden leading Cook, small gap to Hill third.

00:22:25Robo is fourth, and that's Cook going straight on into his locks up the escape road.

00:22:31And he's going to have to slot in behind Shedden, which he does, and Jake Hill's going to get past as well.

00:22:38Yeah, well, he definitely hasn't gained an advantage.

00:22:40He could have rejoined in front of Hill, I think, without having gained an advantage.

00:22:44He gave up a little bit too much, but it's very hard to see in the car where everybody is, actually, when you're rejoining.

00:22:50You can't turn your head, and the mirrors are very small.

00:22:53But that's Chris Smiley out of the race.

00:22:55So a really up and down sort of a day for restart racing.

00:22:59I was going to say, Gordon Shedden's got a really big lead at the end of the opening lap with Jake Hill second.

00:23:03And then Josh Cook in third place.

00:23:05Here they come through Lodge Corner, but the Toyota is out on his own.

00:23:08Yeah, the circuit's quite patchy, isn't it?

00:23:10There are areas of the circuit that are not too wet and others that are very wet.

00:23:13So it is quite different around there.

00:23:15Won't be too long before the guys perhaps even start to search out in a wet side by side.

00:23:21Sometimes the outside is quicker for grip, and Cook's going all the way around the outside of Jake Hill.

00:23:26Nicely done.

00:23:27Gordon Shedden with all that experience leads the way.

00:23:29Cook's got the inside line for Cascades, but Jake Hill stands his ground.

00:23:37So Hill, Cook, Roberson, second, third, fourth, as yellow lights, yellow flags because of Chris Smiley's demise.

00:23:43But Gordon Shedden using all of the experience to good use and being held by this battle delaying the three behind.

00:23:48Yeah, that was great side-by-side racing.

00:23:50The lines are very different in the wet, so what worked for Josh Cook at turn one,

00:23:56didn't work for him at turn two, and was repeated by Jake Hill.

00:24:00And he's under attack from Roboter look as well as they come into his lot.

00:24:03So Shedden led at the end of the opening lap by second and a half.

00:24:06This is Sutton's view as he comes now on the back of Dan Kamish through his lots.

00:24:11Chris Smiley's car parked up the escape road.

00:24:13That's the green light to say it's okay.

00:24:15You can carry on overtaking now, and build up your speed once more on the other side of the incident zone.

00:24:19So Cook here with Roboter behind him.

00:24:22Now look, they've dropped off the back of Jake Hill just a little bit,

00:24:25and that BMW now is the main threat to Gordon Shedden if Jake can get away from the others behind him.

00:24:30Well, he's not scampering away, is he?

00:24:32No.

00:24:32Keep being honest that it was, oh, Roboter puts the lights on, again signalling a tent,

00:24:37but Cookie blocks him, outbrakes himself.

00:24:40Oh, Cookie was looking in the mirrors to defend from Roboter.

00:24:44He outbrakes himself, and is he going to keep going?

00:24:46Maybe on the wet tarmac, on the wet gravel, he can keep going.

00:24:51But, yeah, Jake Hill has always been really quick in these conditions,

00:24:55and he has kept going, so that will be good.

00:24:57But that's the second mistake under braking for Josh Cook here,

00:25:01and, of course, at his lots on the opening lap.

00:25:02So is there something more than him just outbraking himself?

00:25:05Was there an issue?

00:25:06It could be just brake bias not being correct,

00:25:09but he's enough experience to know where to set it,

00:25:11but it is unusual to see two mistakes like that.

00:25:14And in quick succession, yeah.

00:25:16So Shedden leads.

00:25:17The gap is a second and a half.

00:25:19Last time around he was quicker again.

00:25:21Roboter is on the move as well.

00:25:23Max Hall there, you're looking at the back,

00:25:24obviously comes out of Cascades, down towards the hairpin.

00:25:28Everybody's hunting for traction.

00:25:29Moffat and Hall were both slow coming off Cascades,

00:25:32so I think they'd had a little incident which is carrying on around the rest of the lap side by side.

00:25:37Indeed so, and Josh Cook went over the line 21st.

00:25:40We've lost Smiley.

00:25:41Adam Morgan has rejoined.

00:25:43No, Adam Morgan has also stopped after pitting,

00:25:46so after a good result in the earlier race in the Hyundai,

00:25:48big strife for Morgan early days in this.

00:25:51Right, up front, Shedden to Hill,

00:25:53but Shedden gapping the rest of them because Hill has now got Robotom up behind him.

00:25:58Let's have a look at sector times.

00:25:59In the first one, yeah, Hill and Robotom,

00:26:02demonstrably quicker than the leader, Shedden,

00:26:04and I'm still convinced Cook's got a problem.

00:26:05That's not a quick car.

00:26:07No, he's not going at full race pace.

00:26:08Well, Robotom was actually alongside Hill

00:26:10coming into that shot of them going into his long chicane,

00:26:14we saw briefly.

00:26:15He's really flying.

00:26:16Cam is trying to get past Promptor.

00:26:19Remember, this is Promptor's first time experiencing the wet, isn't it?

00:26:23He's only just come back at Thruxton.

00:26:24He didn't have any wet there,

00:26:26so he's got a feel for it very quickly.

00:26:28Oh, down the inside, throws the Camish,

00:26:32but don't forget there's more grip on the outside now.

00:26:35Sutton's got a great run on the both of them.

00:26:38So Sutton tries to get ahead of Camish,

00:26:40it gets all sideways again.

00:26:41Sutton goes through,

00:26:42and now it's up to him to try to attack Center Promptor,

00:26:45and all of this is going on for 4th, 5th, and 6th.

00:26:48Sutton gets a really good run out of Cascades,

00:26:50comes up alongside.

00:26:51Camish did the fastest lap of the race last time through,

00:26:53but actually he's got Shuffle back in the pack,

00:26:55and look how that lead gap is coming down,

00:26:571.4 seconds now.

00:26:59So Sheridan's still being chased by Hill,

00:27:01then Roboto, it's Sutton 4th,

00:27:02it is Promptor 5th,

00:27:03it's Camish in 6th,

00:27:05Ash Sutton charges off now

00:27:07as you get the replay of what happens to Camish on the inside,

00:27:09sideways.

00:27:10A little bit of contact there,

00:27:12cost,

00:27:12oh, here, listen to the wheel spin on Sutton's car,

00:27:15he didn't want to lift off at all, did he?

00:27:16But, yeah, a little bit of a sideways move from Camish,

00:27:20allowed Sutton to get inside,

00:27:22but then, look, Promptor runs wide,

00:27:24and Sutton gets a great run off the corner,

00:27:26and actually manages to outbrake him on the outside,

00:27:29gains two places in 100 yards.

00:27:31Gordon Shedden is still being caught,

00:29:47remember he knows exactly what to do,

00:29:49fourth fastest lap of the race,

00:29:51so it could be a four-way fight

00:29:52before long.

00:29:53Yeah,

00:29:54I mean I'm intrigued

00:29:55to watch the speed

00:29:57of the BMW,

00:29:58it was always very quick

00:29:59in wet conditions,

00:30:00remember earlier in the year

00:30:01though it suffered

00:30:02when they were too wet,

00:30:03but these should be

00:30:04ideal conditions

00:30:05for the BMW.

00:30:07But Gordon Shedden,

00:30:07a triple champion,

00:30:08he's been reeled in,

00:30:10that is Josh Cook's day

00:30:11effectively done,

00:30:12so it's been a tough day

00:30:13all round for one motorsport,

00:30:14but Gordon Shedden

00:30:15is very soon

00:30:16going to have to start defending,

00:30:18was a winner here last year,

00:30:20he got the lead off

00:30:21on the last lap,

00:30:22so Jake never gives up,

00:30:27Ingram's good day

00:30:28on the outside

00:30:28and Dorlin's going to

00:30:29secure the place,

00:30:33it's safer to get up

00:32:08there isn't the sign

00:32:11that you'd expect

00:32:11from him

00:32:12and of course

00:32:13this is reminiscent

00:32:14of what happened

00:32:15at Brands Hatch

00:32:15at the title decider

00:32:16last year.

00:32:17Yeah but interestingly

00:32:18Senna Proctor

00:32:19and Tom Chilton

00:32:20in the same car

00:32:21are further up the road

00:32:23so 5th and 8th

00:32:23interesting isn't it?

00:32:25Just while we've got
