00:00Just a moment, but I've been joined by Jade because we've had an update on the Josh Cooke ride height situation.
00:05Unfortunately, the car has failed the ride height. He's been moved to the back of the grid.
00:09It's tough because that weekend was building so well.
00:11We've had quite a roller coaster with Josh this weekend, haven't we?
00:14So, yeah, unfortunately, issue with the car, rules are rules, back of the grid.
00:18But it also means he obviously carries the three lap boost allocation as if he was to finish P3.
00:25So not only do you go to the back of the grid, you've also got less boost than the cars around you.
00:28You can see they're just failing. It's just dropped down.
00:31There was damage to the front splitter, but was deemed not worthy enough to clear that sort of penalty.
00:38So, yeah, back of the grid for Josh.
00:40That's tough. So let's give you an idea of the revised reverse grid.
00:45And it means that James Dorland, I think, goes on to pole position alongside Senna Proctor with Jake Hill,
00:50Dan Camish on row two, Dan row bottom, Tom Ingram on row three.
00:54But that front row, I mean, that's a huge opportunity for both Dorland and Proctor.
00:59Yeah, I think it's a mixture. James is dialled into the car.
01:03He's obviously raced all season so far, but he's fairly new to touring cars and hasn't been on pole for touring cars before,
01:08whereas Senna has.
01:09But he is, again, straight in this weekend with a little bit less experience in terms of this season.
01:14So it's going to be interesting because Senna knows exactly how to race a touring car.
01:18But I know that James Dorland is one of those wily old foxes in the sense of keeps calm, very methodical and very fast with it.
01:25Yeah, maybe an opportunity for Jake Hill to salvage something from the weekend as well.
01:30He'll definitely be looking at it that way.
01:31He's been trying to manage his weekend as best he can, not getting any trouble, obviously yielding when he needs to, fighting when he needs to.
01:38But he'll definitely be looking at this opportunity to gain back that race three credentials and get a potential podium or a win, maybe.
01:45Yeah. Mind you, if Ash Sutton makes another low start, they might as well all stand aside.
01:49I actually spoke to him after the race and said, did it surprise you as much as us?
01:52He said, yeah. He said he wondered if he was suddenly in a rear wheel drive car.
01:55But yeah, brilliant start from Ash in race two.
01:57OK, thanks for that. So Josh Cook moved to the back of the grid.
02:00It's James Dolan on pole position for our reverse grid race, which gets underway at five past five, which will be our last race of the day here at Thruxton.
02:08Right now, it's our last support race.
02:10Those wins coming in slightly contrasting fashion.
02:13And now we're set for the reverse grid race, which has James Dolan on pole position alongside Senna Proctor.
02:19That's after Josh Cook's car failed the right height test.
02:22Poor old Josh gets shunted back to the to the end of the grid.
02:26And Jade Edwards is alongside me.
02:28We mentioned it before, but frustration after what has been a fairly memorable weekend for Josh.
02:34Yeah, I mean, I've spoken to Josh just after we last spoke in the studio and it looks like there was damage to the splitter that basically made it drop.
02:42It was actually making the car overheat a little bit as well.
02:45So he's had a torrid race in race two, really had to hold on for it and then got put to the back anyway.
02:49But by the look of the grid, there's a few big names at the back there.
02:53So we might have an interesting race to see those names move forward.
02:56We've got Sheda near the back door and Doble and Josh.
02:59So hopefully there'll be a train of entertainment.
03:01And some interesting names at the front as well.
03:03James Dolan on pole position.
03:05Senna Proctor up there as well.
03:07Give us an idea of their respective claims to be the next race winner here in the Touring Car Championship.
03:13Yeah, there's different vibes in the sense that James is first year in Touring Car.
03:17So he'll be pretty nervous, I'd imagine, sat on pole here, but wanting to prove a point.
03:21For him, the challenge will be getting it off the line.
03:23You've got a process in the car, but it's not letting the nerves get to you.
03:26With Senna, he's been here, done it before, but he has been out for a while.
03:30And there are new processes in the car and also the new boost button as well.
03:33He'll have to get used to.
03:34So we've got different styles on that front row, experience over rookie as well.
03:39But I'm excited to see how this one goes.
03:40We've obviously got Jake hot on their heels in third as well.
03:43He'll be looking to make momentum in these first few laps.
03:46Yeah, but for the likes of Dolan, I mean, there must be extra nerves and trepidation
03:51when you're sitting on a pole position for a touring car race for the very first time.
03:54Absolutely. For James, being on pole is not new.
03:57He's very successful in other categories he's done.
03:59But this is different.
04:00This is what we all aim for as drivers to get to British Touring Cars.
04:03So like I say, the process in the car is almost foolproof if you do it right.
04:06But you've got to make sure that you don't let the nerves,
04:09the anticipation and the adrenaline take over and you do something slightly differently.
04:12OK, let's see how nervous he is.
04:14Let's go out onto the grid.
04:15I think James is talking now with Louise.
04:17Yeah, what a great weekend he's having so far.
04:19First time qualifying in the top six.
04:21First time getting two top ten finishes.
04:24And first time on pole position.
04:26The guys were just talking about the fact you've been on pole position
04:28previously, but it's not been for a while, is it?
04:31How are you feeling?
04:32And I have to say, being on the pole position for a touring car race
04:35is something else as well.
04:38Yeah, it's a credit to all the hard work that's gone into making this happen
04:42from all our sponsors, friends, family, the team, everyone at Toyota.
04:47So it's nice to finally be getting, you know, making some progress
04:51and getting to where we should be.
04:53It's certainly nice not seeing another car in front of me right now.
04:56So, yeah, all this weekend has been, you know, more and more progress,
05:00good results, good points finishes.
05:02But I'm just going to give it absolutely everything now and see what we can do.
05:07You would have done some practice starts yesterday, I have no doubt.
05:10I didn't.
05:11Oh.
05:12I didn't because we had a crack in the exhaust manifold.
05:15So we had to actually take the engine out after FP2 before quality.
05:18So, no, I missed all the practice starts.
05:20Starts today, race one and two have been pretty good.
05:23So, yeah, just no pressure now.
05:26It's just another race.
05:27So we'll try and get a good launch and see if we can try and break away a little bit.
05:30I think it'll be tough because I think the ultimate pace isn't quite there yet.
05:34But it's, yeah, with no cars in front, we'll see what we can do.
05:38I let you get your head down.
05:39And James, obviously on pole position, as you were saying earlier on,
05:42down to the fact that Josh Cook had that penalty.
05:44And I think Paul is down at the back of the grid with him now.

05:49I was thinking it was going to be quite a sad face down here with Josh's penalty.
05:53But it's quite jovial down here.
05:55There's nothing much else that could go bad, really, is there?
05:58It's a terrible day, isn't it, really?
06:00That was a great podium first race, though.
06:02Yeah, it was unfortunate.
06:03You know, the car, you know, was actually set up fine, set up legal.
06:07Got some splitter damage.
06:09And when the splitter came down, it pulled all the rad ducting and everything down.
06:15So my engine overheated.
06:17That's why I dropped right back from Ingram and started short shifting and just sort of nurse it home.
06:20So it's really unfortunate.
06:23You know, we didn't gain anything from it.
06:25Actually, it was a big disadvantage.
06:27But the rules are the rules.
06:28We failed it, you know, and we've just got to get on with it.
06:31So what's really annoying is I've got to start here with only the three laps of boost that I would have got if I finished third.
06:38So it's going to make this race a little bit more difficult.
06:41But we know what race threes are like.
06:43So I'll just get my head down and see where we end up.
06:45Speaking of heads, you've got the toker scrutiny.
06:49Look at that.
06:50Josh, he's got his own cans on the side of his head.
06:52So I don't know how he didn't get away with that technical infringement.
06:57Well, I thought if you can't beat him, join him.
07:01It turns out that doesn't work either.
07:02There's no getting around it.
07:04Yeah, you definitely need some other things going on, mate, and you'll be all right.

07:12He's in the Astra, which is weird because I have to find out which side the drivers are on.

07:18You'd think it would be right-hand drive.

07:30Speaking of which, your engine's been a nightmare, hasn't it?

07:34I know, just not being our day at all.
07:38I mean, race one, we were sitting there strong up in P4.
07:41The engine expired.
07:43Luckily, we was able to get it back and get the engine changed before race two, which was amazing from the guys.
07:49And then race two, we had some pace there.
07:51We were up to about P14, P13, looking like getting in the top ten.
07:55And then we just had an oil pipe just come off slightly and it's dropped all its oil out.
07:59So that was the end of that one as well.
08:01I'm sure you'll go well in this one, mate.

08:10I'm up with Senna Proctor, who would have been on pole position, obviously, but the change of the order has put him on the front row.

08:20I mean, you've been here before, haven't you?
08:21Yeah, you know, we've started on the front row many times in touring cars.
08:25So, yeah, looking forward to getting the opportunity again and really having a good start at trying to win this race.
08:29It's been a good old day so far, hasn't it?
08:31I mean, a little bit of argy-bargy in race one.
08:35But tell us about race two.
08:37That was a lot smoother there.
08:38Yeah, we had a bit of an incident with one of the Toyotas in race one.
08:43Race two went really smoothly.
08:45You know, we finished P6 in the end and then benefited from the reverse grid to start second.
08:50So, yeah, looking forward to getting going in this one.
08:54You know, the car's been very good all day.
08:56So, just want to try to repay the team somehow.
09:00I mean, no doubt you had an idea in your mind of what was going to happen this weekend.
09:04How has the reality compared with those expectations?
09:09I'm thinking it might have gone a bit better.
09:11Yeah, I maybe didn't think I'd be sat on the front row this weekend.
09:14So, yeah, it's gone well.
09:16I always believed I could do it.
09:18And, you know, to get the opportunity to come back into British Touring Cars and prove that I can.
09:23You know, it's just a credit to the team and the sponsors and stuff like that.
09:27So, yeah, really happy that I can do the job.
09:29And we're going to be pushing hard in this one.
09:31So, what's the plan for this one?
09:32Just pedal to the metal elbows out and see what happens?
09:35Yeah, we're going to be pushing hard.

10:21And after a great day of racing, race three with its jumbled reverse grid is promising to round out the day in style, isn't it?
10:28James Dolan, then, for Toyota Gazoo Racing UK is on pole position.
10:32Senna Proctor alongside him.
10:34James Dolan in his first Touring Cars season, first time he's been on pole.
10:37Senna Proctor back in the championship, having not raced since 2021.
10:42And he's making up for lost time.
10:43It's going to be a great battle on the first lap between those two.
10:46But behind them, the likes of Jake Hill, Dan Camish, Dan Robotton, Tom Ingram, Ash Sutton, Chris Smiley looking confident as well.
10:52There's a lot to play out in this last race of the day.
10:56And it's been a great day of racing thus far.
10:59Race three, Tim, should be no exception.
11:01Yeah, really looking forward to this.
11:03Obviously, great to see James Dolan get an opportunity off the front row.
11:07And Senna Proctor back with a bang this weekend.
11:10It's probably nice for the team to accelerate to have another front-running Hyundai in the battle to help take points off other cars and help Ingram.
11:19So, yeah, Senna Proctor's been a good addition to the team.
11:22So, the green flag is waved, everybody blasts away from the line, ready for this final formation lap.
11:30Chance to get a bit of warmth into the tyres.
11:32We know that Josh Cook is going to be a man to watch from the back of the grid with this amazing strike rate that he's got at Thruxton.
11:43Somebody else that's been a winner here in the past is Dan Robotton who starts fifth.
11:46Dan, it's been a pretty good day and Thruxton's been a kind circuit to you in the past.
11:50So, what are the chances?
11:51Well, we're feeling quite racy.
11:54We haven't had the best balance in our car all day.
11:56So, we've made some adjustments based on some of Ashton's data.
11:59And I'm hoping that we've got a fiery car.
12:01But, yeah, Josh Cook has been kind so far.
12:03I didn't enjoy the wet yesterday.
12:04So, today's been a welcome surprise.
12:07And I guess the first couple of three corners are all about keeping out of trouble.
12:10Because there are people around you that aren't normally up at the front and might get a bit giddy.
12:16Yeah, there's a couple of inexperienced drivers up there.
12:18But, ultimately, everybody, you know, everyone here is here and they're quick.
12:22So, you know, we've just got to do the best job we can.
12:25Obviously, we've got Ash and Tom behind us.
12:26It's a lot of challenge in itself.
12:28So, we'll see you next time.

12:41James Dawlin on pole position for the first time.
12:44Senna Proctor returning to the championship.
12:46Lines up with him at the front of the grid.
12:48Then you've got Jake Hill starting alongside Dan Camish.
12:51Dan Rowbottom is fifth.
12:52And Tom Ingram starts sixth with seventh being Ash Sutton.
12:56And Chris Smiley starts eighth.
12:58Ninth is where we will find Darrell De Leon.
13:00Dan Lloyd is going to be tenth on the grid.
13:03Eleventh, Charles Rainford.
13:04Then it's Adam Morgan ahead of Aidan Moffat.
13:07And Ronan Pearson on the seventh row.
13:10Row eight, Dexter Patterson and Stephen Jelley.
13:12Aaron Taylor-Smith, who had a puncture in the early array,
13:14starts on the ninth row with Nicholas Hamilton for company.
13:17Gordon Shedden, row ten, again, having to fight his way through the field.
13:20Sam Osborne's had a tough day, as also was Mikey Doble behind him.
13:24And, in fact, so too was Tom Chilton.
13:26And as for Josh Cook's day, well, it's been a real rollercoaster, hasn't it?
13:30But he will start at the very back and, inevitably, is one to watch.
13:34Remember that you carry the extra turbo boost that you would have carried as you crossed the line.
13:41So if you get a penalty for disqualified, like in the old days of Ballast,
13:45you still carry that number into the race.
13:48So even though Josh Cook was excluded, he was third across the line.
13:51So he carries that number of laps of boost rather than the maximum,
13:55which you would have had by being outside of the top eight.
13:58So there is a kind of extra penalty, if you like, on top of that disqualification.
14:02Everybody getting warmth into the tyres.
14:04Remember, eight laps of boost is the maximum.
14:05And it's just one lap available for Ash Sutton.
14:09And I think, Tim, we're still reeling, aren't we, after that amazing start in race two.
14:12Yeah, I bet you the guys in front of him, which, in fact, is Ingram again,
14:16is going to close that gap off as soon as the lights go out.
14:19He won't want Sutton to get a gap through the middle of him again.
14:23Well, we're about to find out whether it's going to be another rocket ship start by Ash Sutton.
14:28The field making its way up to the grid.
14:31Then at the back is going to be Josh Cook.
14:33So he's actually further back now than he was for the first race,
14:35because he had got a lap time in,
14:37even though he had that accident during the qualifying period.
14:42Here he is, though, right at the very back.
14:44Three laps of extra boost available to him.
14:46We are just about good to go, then.
14:48As soon as he trickles out of the chicane and slots into place,
14:50the doctor's card will be there behind.
14:51And this is Dan Rowbottom's view.
14:54He's already slotted into place.
14:55Jake Hill is ahead of him at Team Virtue.
14:57There's nothing they can do now.
14:59They look at the pictures.
15:00They look at the timing screens.
15:01They get ready for business.
15:02There's one of their cars up near the front.
15:04Centre Proctor, second on the grid.
15:06There's another of their cars near the back.
15:07Tom Chilton starting 22nd.
15:10We're just about ready to go, then.
15:13There'll be a green flag at the back to say that we are good to go
15:15for round 12 of the QuickFit British Touring Car Championship.
15:19A five-second board is shown.
15:20James Dawlin on pole position as the lights go red for the last race of the day.
15:24The engine notes rise.
15:25The lights go out.
15:26It is blast off.
15:27And Jake Hill ought to be able to make a good start in the BMW,
15:30which he does.
15:31Way like the Stambrath.
15:32It should be round the outside of the Toyota.
15:34And Jake Hill goes through into the race lead.
15:37The BMW with its rear-wheel drive lives up to expectation
15:39and leads the way.
15:40There was a bit of rough and tumble between the Napa Fords,
15:42I think, with Ash Sutton getting crowded out onto the dirt.
15:44But Jake Hill leads James Dawlin going up towards the complex.
15:48Dawlin gets sideways, but he hangs on to it.
15:50That's going to spit him out wide, though.
15:52Yeah, good start by Jake Hill.
15:53He got that BMW going.
15:55I did watch Sutton start,
15:57and Ingram did exactly what I thought
15:59and pulled straight across in front of him to block him off.
16:02So the cars now then make that run up towards the long right-hander,
16:07coming through Goodwood into Village,
16:09then Church, then on this opening lap of the race.
16:11So you've got there Sutton looking for the inside line against Ingram.
16:14Two wheels over the white line as he tries to shorten the corner.
16:17Let's see what he can do coming out the other side
16:19as the field files through.
16:20Heading up Woodham Hill then in a moment for the first time.
16:22But Jake Hill has made short work of the opposition.
16:24He's got Rowbottom now up into second place.
16:26Dawlin third, but Ingram versus Sutton behind.
16:29They're together as Senna Proctor has dropped really a long way back
16:32on this opening lap, hasn't he?
16:34Yeah, but look, side-by-side, nearly three abreast.
16:36We've got Dawlin on the inside.
16:39Then we've got Kamish, and then we've got Ingram and Sutton.
16:44And across the chicane goes Dawlin.
16:46He has no choice.
16:47Here they come then across the line at the end of the opening lap.
16:50So Jake Hill leads the way from Dan Rowbottom.
16:52It was a cheeky look at the inside there.
16:54That was Dawlin against Kamish, but Kamish hangs on to the place
16:57and Dawlin now loses momentum coming out the other side
16:59of the corner.
17:00That means that Ingram goes past him.
17:01Sutton's going to attack as well, but it's Hill versus Rowbottom.
17:04Now, remember, in the earlier race, they were trading places.
17:07Rowbottom setting up this key manoeuvre that he does
17:09coming through the complex.
17:11He's got that one absolutely nailed.
17:13He forces Hill to defend into the first right-hander,
17:17hangs it back through the left,
17:18and then fires it up the inside.
17:21It's such a cool manoeuvre.
17:22But we saw in the earlier race, of course,
17:24after Rowbottom had a moment coming out at Noble,
17:27but Jake Hill got the place back,
17:29and Jake now sitting in the wheel tracks,
17:31trying to fight back,
17:31but they're being chased by Kamish as well.
17:33Hill's not giving up, is he?
17:35He thinks about the inside line going up toward Church.
17:37No way through there.
17:39Well, Hill's race pace was very good in the previous race.
17:42He just couldn't really make progress,
17:44but wow, Rowbottom right on the limit there,
17:47coming through Church.
17:48So down they come then, towards the chicane.
17:51Kamish looking a bit more menacing now in third place.
17:53Rowbottom the race leader,
17:54and there is a five-second penalty for Dan Lloyd
17:57for a full start.
17:58So the restart race in Hyundai
17:59swaps the penalty.
18:01Here they come out of the chicane then.
18:02So new race leader, Dan Rowbottom,
18:05looking for a second victory of the season.
18:07Jake Hill goes through in second place.
18:08Dan Kamish getting ever more competitive
18:11on the back of the BMW,
18:13but this is enabling Rowbottom to get away now
18:15as Hill has to defend.
18:16Yeah, I wonder if Dan Kamish saw
18:17what his teammate did through this complex
18:19on the last lap
18:20and can tee up the similar manoeuvre.
18:24I've actually only really seen Rowbottom
18:26pulling that off today.
18:27It's a great bit of a karting manoeuvre.
18:29We know Rowbottom's karting prowess is first cast,
18:32but look, he's getting away
18:34while Hill's defending for Kamish.
18:36And Kamish has done the fastest lap of the race,
18:37so Dan needs to get through in a hurry here.
18:40Behind them, there is the rapidly closing Ingram,
18:42then you've got Sutton.
18:43Small gap back to Jordan 6th,
18:44rocks the 7th, 8th on the road,
18:46and is Lloyd ahead of Smiley Rain for 10th.
18:48But remember that Dan Lloyd will have that penalty
18:50to be applied at the end of the race.
18:54Replay of Rowbottom's move.
18:55Yeah, he's forced Hill to defend.
18:57Hill then hangs slow round the left-hander
18:59to set himself up for the exit,
19:01but Rowbottom just carries the speed
19:03and slings it up the inside.
19:05It's a really nicely thought-out, planned and executed manoeuvre.
19:10So here are the three race leaders then.
19:12Rowbottom just ahead of Hill.
19:13Then you've got Kamish.
19:14In fact, he's been caught in turn by Ingram.
19:17So Rowbottom's hit the front.
19:18Now he's trying to get away.
19:20Jake Hill is being monstered by Kamish.
19:22Then it's Ingram as to the inside.
19:24Kamish has a look,
19:25but Jake Hill defends here.
19:27Rowbottom using the boost maybe to get away.
19:29Dan Rowbottom have four laps of it.
19:31He's got two laps left, whereas Hill behind us got four.
19:35Yeah, Hill's been savvy in saving his.
19:38He did have six though, so he's already used two as well.
19:40Oh, Dawling going slowly was that a glimpse of.
19:43It was, that was coming over the line.
19:44He went past our window very slowly indeed.
19:46So James Dawling's got a big problem.
19:48He was last with a problem.
19:49And the car's going to pull off, I suspect,
19:51coming down the side of Alain.
19:52Lap four, we are on.
19:54Sutton now, fast slap of the race.
19:55Look at Kamish's car, dancing out of Noble.
19:58Sutton is on the back of Ingram in the meantime,
20:00but Rowbottom is getting away once more.
20:02Look, he's building that lead as Jake Hill,
20:04who is with more boost at the moment,
20:08sitting behind him in second place.
20:09In fact, Hill has more boost available than Rowbottom
20:11and so does Kamish in third place.
20:14So Dan needs to be careful when and where he uses it.
20:16Yeah, but they've all pushed hard, haven't they,
20:17at the start of this race,
20:19so it's going to come down to the end.
20:21But as you say, Hill's got the most and then one,
20:23double what Rowbottom's got.
20:25Four laps to two of boost available.
20:27And we saw Rowbottom's graphic go green,
20:29coming up to the chicane.
20:30So I think he's using it to try to get away.
20:32There's Proctor, heading a complete Hyundai battle.
20:35This is on board with Adam Morgan,
20:36whose Hyundai's on the back of Lloyd's Hyundai,
20:38on the back of Smiley's Hyundai,
20:39on the back of Proctor's Hyundai,
20:40as they come over the line.
20:41Rowbottom leading by seven tenths ahead of Hill.
20:43Rowbottom is down to one lap only,
20:45a boost available here.
20:46Well, he's tried to do what Sutton did in race two
20:49and build a gap,
20:50but he just hasn't got enough pace.
20:52He has got a little bit of a lead, though,
20:53and if Hill does goes into defensive mode,
20:55that could really help him.
20:57Rowbottom did the absolute best last set for anybody
20:59on the green this lap,
21:00and Hill did the absolute best middle.
21:02So they're both still quick.
21:03This is Sutton's,
21:04I'm sorry, not Sutton's view,
21:05it's Morgan's view,
21:06as they come out of the rise of Seagrave.
21:09Morgan then chasing after
