00:01Have you registered to vote in the Leeds local elections on the 7th of May?
00:06One councillor has been chosen in all 33 ward areas of the city
00:10and there are additional vacancies in three wards this year.
00:15Second placed candidates in Adal and Wharfdale, Morley North and Temple Newsome
00:20will also secure a place on the council, meaning a total of 36 seats will be contested.
00:26The lists of the candidates standing have now been announced
00:29and can be viewed online.
00:31Voters are reminded that you'll need to show a valid form of voter ID to vote in person.
00:36This is especially important for those who have had their postal vote option cancelled
00:41after not reapplying to vote that way before the January deadline
00:44and now intend to vote in person.
00:47If anyone who intends to vote is not yet registered to do so,
00:50this needs to be carried out before the deadline of midnight on Monday 20th April.
00:55Anyone wanting to vote by post who is not currently registered
00:58including previous postal voters who missed the January deadline
01:02can apply to do so before 5pm on Tuesday 21st April.
01:07The deadline to apply for a Voter Authority Certificate is 5pm on Tuesday 28th April.
01:14Poll cards for everyone currently registered are now being posted out.
01:18Residents are being asked to check the details on their cards to ensure they are correct
01:23and also to note their polling station location, which may have changed.
