The electoral map of Leeds looks quite different to how it did when voters last went to the polls,
00:05
with brand new constituencies formed from old seats and some eradicated entirely.
00:12
One seat in Leeds facing the most change is Elmet and Rothwell, as it'll be divided up between four
00:17
new seats. I'm in Rothwell and if you live here you'll be voting for the MP in the new
00:23
Wakefield and Rothwell constituency. The shake-up comes after a boundary review last year
00:28
which aimed to make sure each constituency had a similar population while respecting local ties
00:34
between areas. I'm currently in the old Pudsey constituency which will effectively cease to exist
00:41
when voters go to the polls in a month's time. That's because this seat has been split in half
00:47
right down the river Aire to form two brand new constituencies. So if you live on the south side
00:54
of the former Pudsey constituency in Calverley or further south you'll now be voting in the brand
01:00
new Leeds Western Pudsey constituency. But if you step over the boundary here on the river Aire
01:06
over to the north side of the former Pudsey constituency you'll now be voting in the updated
01:12
Leeds North West constituency. There's changes for the six other constituencies too.
01:19
Leeds East is getting slightly bigger to take in Garthuth. Meanwhile Leeds Central will be split
01:26
between two of the newer seats. Leeds North West is being split between two new ones too.
01:32
The old Leeds West seat is also getting split up, this time between three new constituencies.
01:38
And most of the Morley and Outwood seat is shifting to the new Leeds South West and Morley seat
01:44
including the town of Morley itself. Finally the Leeds North East constituency remains
01:50
largely unchanged so if you live in areas like Chapel Town, Roundhay or Allwoodley
01:57
you won't notice much difference.
