00:02Seatbelts everyone!
00:04Please let this be a normal field trip
00:06With a friend? No way!
00:08Cruisin' on the main street
00:10You're relaxed and feelin' good
00:12Next thing that you know
00:14You'll see it
00:16Octopus in the main road
00:18Surfin' on the sideway
00:20Swingin' through the stars
00:22Take a nap at your intestine
00:24Take your second right past Mars
00:26Open at your school bus
00:28Navigate a nostril
00:29Climb on the magic school bus
00:32Make a plain dintin'
00:33I'm on the magic school bus
00:36Wrap the river of lava
00:38I'm on the magic school bus
00:40Such a fine thing to do
00:42So stop your bonsai
00:44To the sea
00:45Come on in and don't be shy
00:47Just to make your day complete
00:49You might get baked into a pile
00:51On the magic school bus
00:53Step inside, it's a wild ride
00:56Right on the magic school bus
00:59Right on the magic school bus
01:25That's it
01:27I got it, I got it
01:30More wrist, Carlos
01:32It's all in the wrist
01:37Poor Ralphie, he doesn't look very happy
01:39Cleaning the bus all by himself
01:43It's his turn, Phoebe
01:44Besides, we're always doing things for Ralphie
01:46Like, how many times have I clapped the erasers for him
01:49Or cleaned the hamster cage
01:51You know, just yesterday
01:53He asked me to change the water in the goldfish bowl for him
01:55Cause he was late for soccer practice
02:01I tell you, Liz
02:02Using all this elbow grease is wearing me out
02:05I've gotta take a break
02:10If only I had a robot that could do my work for me
02:14Think about it, Liz
02:15We'd never have to clean the bus again
02:19Hey, a guy can drink, can't he?
02:21The truth is
02:22What is the highway of life all about?
02:25If not to enjoy the detours
02:31Like practicing my hook shot
02:34Or perfecting my curve
02:36Or working on my slap shot
02:47That's it, Liz
02:48I could make a robot
02:50Hey guys, I have a brilliant idea
02:54What would you say if I built a robot to do all our chores?
02:58A robot coon
03:00Oh no
03:01I'd say that was the silliest idea you've ever had
03:04Silly is as silly does
03:06Or doesn't
03:08Oh, excuse me, Ralphie
03:10I need to get out of the sun
03:13You can't be serious, Ralphie
03:15You can't build a robot
03:16Oh yeah?
03:18Wanna bet?
03:19Sure
03:19But if you can't come up with a robot
03:22No baseball
03:23No basketball
03:23And no soccer
03:24And you have to do all the chores
03:28Still wanna bet?
03:29Well, I uh
03:30I can do it if everybody helps
03:32I mean, once the robot's built
03:34None of us have to do chores again
03:36Maybe we can do it
03:38We won't know unless we try
03:40Way to go, Wanda
03:41Keisha
03:42You gotta bet
03:45Whoa
03:46Whoa
03:55What happened to the bus?
03:57Off
03:58Hmm, looks like the mesmerglob
04:00Or blew a gasket
04:02On to the bus, class
04:03This is an emergency
04:06Ms. Rizzle, wait
04:07Sorry, we have a busy, busy day ahead
04:10No time for waiting
04:12Only time for
04:13Taking chances
04:14Making mistakes
04:15Getting messy
04:16Huh?
04:17Hop in, Ralphie
04:18I wonder if this could be another
04:22Nah, it couldn't be
04:23Yeah
04:27It is a field trip
04:34Excuse me, Ms. Rizzle
04:35But there's something important
04:37I have to do
04:38Well, you're on the right bus, Ralphie
04:40Because where we're going
04:41There's something for everyone to do
04:46We're here
05:01Presenting the one-of-a-kind satisfaction guaranteed
05:04Service with a skull
05:05Body shop
05:07What?
05:12Look at all that stuff
05:14Just what I need to make a robot
05:16How do we get across, Ms. Rizzle?
05:19A-across?
05:28Who's gonna get us?
05:33Oh-ho!
05:34Got us!
05:35Wooo-hoo!
05:54Wooooow!
05:55Wooooo!
05:56This is incredible!
06:00Cool!
06:13Look out below!
06:17Long time no see, Valerie!
06:21They must know each other! Class, meet Radius Ulnohumerus.
06:26Magical mechanic at large. Humorous?
06:30As in upper arm bone? Or are you humorous?
06:34As in really funny? I love it!
06:38Carlos! R.U. is the genius who taught me
06:42everything I know about busonautics. You must have forgotten it all.
06:46Or else this bus has acquired a split personality. Or else it's
06:50the mesmer globber behind the shrinkerscope, which I believe is still under warranty.
06:55I'll check it, Val, but you caught me in a bad time.
06:58I'm expecting another customer.
06:59More important than moi?
07:01No one's more important than you,
07:03my little toggle bolt.
07:06My little toggle bolt?
07:09Let's get back in!
07:17Now that the coast is clear, let's start building that robot!
07:24I still say it'll never work.
07:25We don't even know where to start.
07:28It's simple.
07:29All we have to do is build a robot that looks like me.
07:33Like this?
07:35I'm serious.
07:37How hard can it be?
07:38Just attach a doohickey like this to something like this.
07:44Be right back!
07:48Watch your flank, my little sprocket!
07:49Careful, my feisty flywheel!
07:52Ignition!
08:03Hmm, the bus has never done that before.
08:05It's definitely not the mesmer globber.
08:08Oh, well, maybe it's the clang-dabber.
08:11Excuse me, Miss Frizzle.
08:12Let's say you wanted to, uh, build something.
08:16You mean build character?
08:18Build a new and better tomorrow?
08:20Or build a robot that would do all your chores?
08:23Um, probably closest to that last one.
08:26You can't build a robot!
08:28Unless you know how your own body works.
08:31You know how it works, huh?
08:33Well, not exactly.
08:36Your body needs support to hold it up.
08:39It's got to have structure.
08:41And to find out about that,
08:43you need my special megarific intrascopic kinetoexaminal metascope.
08:48Mike, for short.
08:50Which I, of course, keep hidden away where no nosy kid can find it.
08:55Pretty clever, my shining shock absorber.
08:58I think so.
09:00Hear that, Ralphie?
09:02Structure's the thing!
09:04Gotcha, Miss Frizzle.
09:07Okay, so to find out how my body works,
09:10I need to know about structure.
09:12Well, what's Mike got to do with it?
09:14Hmm, wonder what this button does.
09:17Wow!
09:18Check out all those bones!
09:22I've got it!
09:23My bones must be the structure Miss Frizzle was talking about.
09:27Cool!
09:30I mean, it's chilly in here.
09:33Looks to me like your bones support all the other parts of your body.
09:37And some of them are like neat little cages protecting your squishy parts.
09:42Like your heart and your lungs.
09:44See?
09:45That's it!
09:47My robot needs structure!
09:49All we need to do is find some stiff parts like bones,
09:52and Ralphie Bot is born!
10:12Wow!
10:14Don't forget our bet, Ralphie!
10:16Forget it!
10:17Forget it!
10:17I'm about to win it!
10:19Step back, everyone!
10:21I command you, Ralphie Bot!
10:23Make me a sandwich!
10:31Let's see, there's Bustytail, Eraser Patrol, Chair Management...
10:35Quiet!
10:35I need to concentrate!
10:37Listen to me, Ralphie Bot!
10:39Make me a sandwich!
10:41Now!
11:00Can-can you make me a sandwich?
11:02Please?
11:03Please?
11:05How about a half a sandwich?
11:07He doesn't move!
11:09Or bend!
11:10He doesn't do anything!
11:13Just like Ralphie!
11:15Hey, where's Arnold?
11:18Over here, you guys!
11:20Wow!
11:21Look at that!
11:22Arnold's tying his shoe!
11:24What's the big deal?
11:25Check it out!
11:27Arnold's elbow lets his arm bend in the middle!
11:30That's the difference between us and Ralphie Bot!
11:33I see now!
11:35It's not the bones themselves that let someone move!
11:38It's the way they're joined together!
11:40Of course!
11:42It's the joints that let the bottoms move!
11:45Don't go away!
11:46Hurry back, Ralphie!
11:48Sadie just says that the customer will be here any minute!
11:51Can I come out now?
11:54Find the problem yet, are you?
11:57One thing's for sure!
11:59Your levitation linkage is leaky!
12:03Sorry, my little...
12:08Whoa!
12:09Excuse me, Miss Frizzle, but let's say you need to make some connections!
12:14But you don't know how!
12:16Hmm, you mean connections as in meeting the right people!
12:19Connections as in a cable TV hookup!
12:21Or connections as in joints to let your bones move!
12:25Um, probably closer to the last one!
12:28Everything hinges on making the right connections, my boy!
12:32Uh-huh!
12:32Time to buckle down before my next appointment gets here!
12:35Catch my bent!
12:40This door hinge is perfect!
12:43It goes back and forth, but not sideways!
12:46Just like Ralphie's elbow joint!
12:50This shower head has a joint that can move in all directions!
12:53Just like Ralphie's shoulder!
12:58And this thing's got a whole series of joints!
13:01Perfect for a backbone that bends and twists!
13:03Now Ralphie Bot can move and do all the things I do!
13:08At my old school, we weren't allowed to make a robot that could move!
13:15Well, Quiche, ready to admit that this is the greatest idea in the history of kid kind?
13:20We'll see, Ralphie, we'll see!
13:23Ralphie, it's amazing!
13:26Yup!
13:26Kinda reminds me of... me!
13:29I command you, Ralphie Bot!
13:31Bow to your ruler and master, Ralphie the Magnificent!
13:40It's not bowing!
13:42Would you blame it?
13:42I wouldn't either!
13:44Come on, you guys!
13:47I don't get it!
13:49It's got bones for structure!
13:51It's got joints for flexibility!
13:53Why won't it move?
14:00Ha-ha! You lose, Ralphie!
14:03No way!
14:04If I can move, it can move!
14:07Come on, guys!
14:08We gotta find out how to make that robot...
14:12Move!
14:13This red and blue button must do something!
14:18What do you see? What do you see?
14:20I see your muscles pulling your bones up and down and back and forth!
14:24Hey! Do that again!
14:25That's it!
14:27The missing link!
14:28It's your muscles that pull your bones to make them move!
14:31Exactly!
14:33The reason the robot didn't move a muscle was because he didn't have any!
14:39Ahem!
14:40Ahem!
14:41Ahem!
14:41Well, didn't everybody know that?
14:43But where are we gonna find some muscles?
14:46Liz!
14:49I've got it!
14:58Look at this!
14:59These things work just like muscles!
15:01One pulls this way...
15:03And one pulls the other way!
15:05That makes sense!
15:06Because according to my research, muscles can only pull on things, not push them!
15:11Seems to me, if we all pull together, we could make Ralphie Bond move!
15:17Let's do it!
15:22He's even more than I imagined he'd be!
15:27I think it's really going to work!
15:29An amazing combination!
15:33Bones for structure, joints for flexibility, and muscles for movement!
15:40Well, he's certainly an improvement on the original, that's for sure!
15:44Personally, Keisha, I think you're jealous, cause I'm gonna win the bet!
15:48But that's okay!
15:50Because none of us will ever have to do chores again!
15:52When I say, Ralphie Bond, clean the bus!
15:56Guys, I think he moved!
16:00Yay!
16:06Hey!
16:08Where is he going?
16:13Ralphie!
16:14Do something!
16:15Stop him!
16:16I command you!
16:18Stop!
16:20Hey!
16:21Stop!
16:25I knew I should've...
16:27Don't say it, Arnold!
16:33Me and Sprinkles!
16:34Look out!
16:54Oh, my!
16:56A Ralphie-Bot!
16:59Miss Frizzle!
17:01Get out of the way!
17:04Oh, my!
17:10A Ralphie-Bot!
17:13Miss Frizzle!
17:15Get out of the way!
17:22Miss Frizzle!
17:23Are you okay?
17:24I am better than okay, Ralphie!
17:28I am blown away by your ingenuity!
17:31Yee-haw!
17:37I'm sorry, Miss Frizzle!
17:39I didn't tell him to do it!
17:41Yes, you did, Ralphie!
17:42Yes, you did, Ralphie!
17:43He heard you say you wanted him to clean the bus!
17:55Me and my big mouth!
18:02I'm sorry!
18:05Yes!
18:07What?
18:11Take charge, my boy!
18:15Show, Moose Boss!
18:16You're right, Mr. Humorous!
18:18Ah, call me, are you?
18:21Wee-haw!
18:23This is your master speaking!
18:26Cool it!
18:27I'm not sure you're right!
18:27You're right, Mr. Humorous!
18:30That's better.
18:32Hey, I said cootless.
18:37Whoa!
18:40No! I didn't mean soap the bus.
18:43I meant stop.
18:44I don't think he's going to stop until he's finished.
18:47Or we're finished.
18:49Yes! Yes!
18:54Do something, Ralphie.
18:56What?
18:58Get a grip, Ralphie.
19:01I've got a grip.
19:03Oh, think.
19:04If your body needs joints and muscles to move...
19:07Then I'll move.
19:09Right! Without muscles, it couldn't move at all.
19:12Oh, excellent observation, Ralphie.
19:16But how do I get rid of the muscles?
19:18I'll help you, Ralphie.
19:20Me!
19:28Yo, Quiche!
19:29Thanks!
19:31Hey!
19:33Come back here!
19:54Come on, Quiche.
19:55We've got to immobilize those muscles.
19:58Unhinge those hinges.
19:59And de-bone that robot before it wipes up our entire class!
20:04Ah!
20:06Quiche, get me that screwdriver.
20:10That's all, Ralphie.
20:11Do what you have to do.
20:14You're okay, Quiche.
20:17No joints.
20:18No movement.
20:20No muscles.
20:22No movement.
20:24I really wish I didn't have to do this, but it's the only way.
20:35Kind of hate to see the robot go like that.
20:38The kid did a good job.
20:40Ah, that's my Ralphie.
20:42No movement!
20:45No nothing!
20:48Hey, you okay, Ralphie?
20:50You okay, Ralphie?
20:51Looks like you stopped him all right.
20:55I take back what I said, Ralphie.
20:57The robot wasn't such an improvement after all.
21:00Tell me about it.
21:01I took a chance.
21:02I got messy.
21:04And what do I have to show for it?
21:07Don't feel bad, Ralphie.
21:09You didn't do anything wrong.
21:11Yeah, you were on the right track.
21:13And we did find out that bones and joints and muscles
21:16are just as important for a robot as they are for us.
21:20Maybe next time it'll work.
21:23Hope so.
21:24Good help is always hard to find.
21:29Why, Liz, thanks, I'm touched.
21:34So I guess it all goes to prove something, doesn't it, Ralphie?
21:38Yup.
21:39And when you've got all the moves like I do,
21:40it's pretty hard to make improvements.
21:52Unless you're a magic school bus, that is.
21:55Yay!
21:58There was nothing wrong with the shrinkerscope, my little wing nut, and you knew it.
22:04And looks like your other customer never showed up, are you?
22:08Oh, yes they did.
22:10And...
22:22As I always say, wahoo!
22:26Yeah.
22:52Oh.
23:01Well, I'll tell you this, Liz.
23:03It's the first time Valerie, Ms. Frizzle, has paid my mechanics fee in robots.
23:11Get that, will you?
23:17Body Shop, where the best come to get better.
23:20Hi. The producer over at the Magic School Bus told me to talk to you.
23:23I just watched a show on body mechanics, and I think you know a lot more about fixing things than
23:28you do about human bodies.
23:30Is that so? For instance?
23:33Well, for instance, there are a lot more bones and muscles in the human body than you actually showed.
23:38Of course there are.
23:39And did you know there are 27 bones in the hand alone?
23:43And it takes 14 muscles to make a funny face?
23:46That's pretty amazing.
23:48But what about ligaments and tendons? You didn't even talk about them.
23:52You're right, kid. But we can't show everything in a half hour.
23:55Ligaments are bands that hold the bones at your joints together, so they don't move too far in the wrong
24:00direction.
24:04And tendons hook your muscles to your bones, so you can hop and jump around.
24:09People aren't the only things that work that way, you know.
24:12Of course not.
24:13Cats, dogs, horses, snakes, fish.
24:16Even lizards need bones and joints and muscles to move.
24:21But some animals, like insects, don't have bones at all.
24:25Instead, they have a stiff covering on the outside, which works with the muscles on the inside to let them
24:30move.
24:31Come on. It takes more than bones, joints and muscles to build a real robot.
24:35I mean, it would need a battery or an engine for energy.
24:38And some sort of brain to control it.
24:41Are you saying that the Ralphie bot is brainless?
24:44Well, yeah. I guess so.
24:47Hmm.
24:48Well, all I can tell you is this.
24:49For not having a brain, he makes a pretty good Sunday.
24:55Thanks for checking in.
25:26I'm a magic school bus.
25:28Rock the river of lava.
25:30I'm a magic school bus.
25:32Such a fine thing.
25:33Just a fine.
25:34So stop your bones right to the sea.
25:37Come on in and don't be shy.
25:39Come on.
25:39Just to make your day complete.
25:41You might get baked into a pie.
25:43I'm a magic school bus.
25:45Step inside.
25:46It's a wild ride.
25:48Come on.
25:49Right on the magic school bus.
25:51Yeah.
