The Friz’s class is excited about going to Waterland. Wanda and Arnold are working on a project together and somehow she convinces him to go to the girls' bathroom with her to get water. He accidentally leaves the Friz’s keys along with Liz in there, and worse, he forgets to turn the water off. When they leave for Waterland, Ms. Frizzle instead uses a spare key which turns her, the class, and the bus into water. (Note: Part of this episode appeared on the video Kids for Character to illustrate responsibility.)

02:42good morning class
02:44good morning miss frizzle oh everyone ready to find out where water goes and what it does
02:51ready when you are miss frizzle actually i'd rather hit the surf ride at waterland
02:56oh waterland of course the perfect introduction to our investigation of water
03:05are you suggesting that we really go there i don't see why not yeah oh boy what a great idea
03:15wait going to waterland has nothing to do with the serious study of water sure it does arne we could
03:21think about a mighty river as we're riding the floomerang this brochure shows the new storm cloud simulator
03:28they just built and we could appreciate rainfall on the raindrop parachute ride but what about our report
03:34it's all about how we use waterworks to get clean water where we need it when we need it see
03:40oh it
03:41really is quite wonderful arnold but compared to waterland it's dry dry dry water's no fun unless you're in it
03:50oh water what goes around comes around a veritable merry-go-round of moisture to the bus
03:58yay
04:06waterland yay wow look at the rain gauge it really rained a lot yeah more than two inches in the
04:15last hour
04:16according to my research that's a school record for rainfall come on you guys we're going to study
04:23some serious water
04:26uh wanda do you have the keys you borrowed from me um oh never mind i have a spare key
04:32somewhere in here i
04:34think here it is
04:39and here we go wait a minute i have a hunch this is not the way to waterland
04:49this is a field trip
04:58what happened welcome to the real waterland where everything is water even us i hate getting wet
05:09as i always say arnold a little water never hurt anyone
05:17whoa this is awesome i hope we're not going to stay in this rain gauge all day that would be
05:23boring
05:24and we wouldn't want that is it just me or is it getting really warm um miss frizzle what happens
05:32when water gets warm do i really want to know gosh i'm rising into the air
05:44whoa see ya ralphie is it just you or are we all floating into the air when water is warmed
05:52by the sun
05:52it evaporates it evaporates you mean we're evaporating help
06:00how's it going to rain
06:12what happened
06:16what happened
06:16what happened
06:17what happened
06:39At least being water meant we stayed on the ground.
06:42I want to be water again.
06:44We still are water, Arnold.
06:46When water evaporates, it turns into water vapor.
06:49It's a gas, Arnold.
06:51We've been vaporized.
06:52I get it.
06:53First we were a liquid.
06:55Then we became a gas.
06:57I still don't like it.
06:58Ah, ah, ah, ah, achoo!
07:01Oh, it's getting cold up here.
07:04Hey, I'm unvaporizing.
07:07Look at my hand.
07:08I'm turning into tiny droplets.
07:11That's because we're changing back into a liquid.
07:13We are condensing.
07:15Water is as water does.
07:17Whee!
07:19Miss Frizzle, you turned into a cloud!
07:23Oh, isn't this heavenly?
07:26Wow!
07:27I never knew a cloud was water, too.
07:31Hey!
07:32We're moving!
07:33This is fantastic!
07:35Duck!
07:38Whoa!
07:39Yikes!
07:41It's not easy being a cloud.
07:44Now where are we going?
07:47Wherever we're going, it looks to me like it's not our choice.
07:51As someone once said, clouds are the playful fancies of the mighty wind.
07:57Does that mean that clouds go wherever the wind takes them?
08:00In a word, Keisha, yes!
08:03Oh, bad.
08:04Oh, bad.
08:05Bad, bad, bad.
08:07Then we could end up anywhere.
08:09Right as rain, Arnold.
08:11Water goes everywhere.
08:14Oh, no!
08:17Oh, no!
08:32I always wondered what it would be like to be a cloud.
08:37I love it.
08:39Hey, watch it!
08:40Lighten up, Arnold.
08:42You're a cloud.
08:43Now we're one big cloud.
08:45But clouds don't go to school.
08:47Clouds don't give reports.
08:49They stay in the air.
08:50We'll never get down.
08:51Whoa!
08:54Oh, no!
08:57Arnold!
09:00We fell out of the cloud!
09:03Water always falls out of the clouds.
09:05Eventually, it's raining.
09:07We are the rain, Phoebe.
09:10This is even better than the raindrop parachute ride.
09:14Wahoo!
09:18Hope you don't mind our dropping.
09:20Bye!
09:22Hey!
09:23A frizzle drizzle!
09:25Ha-ha!
09:26Yeah!
09:34Go with the flow, class.
09:37Wait for us, Ms. Frizzle!
09:41We're out of control!
09:42Don't worry, Arnold!
09:45Wanda, we're thousands of miles from school,
09:47running into some strange forest.
09:49We're almost on the ground, and that will stop!
09:55Or not!
09:56Is it true that water always runs downhill?
10:00Yes!
10:01Yes!
10:02Oh, no!
10:03Water works!
10:05Water runs!
10:06Water falls!
10:09Look out!
10:10Whoa!
10:12Whoa!
10:16Whoa!
10:19Where's all this water going in such a hurry?
10:23Water always flows to the lowest spot, Phoebe.
10:26And we're almost there!
10:27The ocean?
10:32The ocean?
10:43The ocean?
10:45The ocean?
10:46The ocean?
10:46The ocean?
10:54The ocean?
11:03The ocean?
11:05The ocean?
11:06Well, that was an interesting field trip.
11:08Can we go back now, Ms. Frizzle?
11:13Oh, I'd like to help you out, Arnold, but...
11:16Oh, no!
11:18We're evaporating again!
11:20I love this part!
11:26Who knows what happens next?
11:28Hands!
11:29Oh!
11:30We condense into water droplets!
11:32But we've been there to done that!
11:35And it won't be the last time, Arnold!
11:37What happens next?
11:38We become clouds!
11:41Then we get blown who knows where by the wind!
11:44Oh, and next?
11:47And fall somewhere else as rain again!
11:51Excellent observation, Wanda!
11:54Are you suggesting that water never, ever stops moving?
11:58Ever?
11:59In the words of my great aunt, Matilda...
12:02No!
12:04Here we go again!
12:07You mean water keeps evaporating?
12:10Condensing?
12:11Raining?
12:11Collecting?
12:13Forever?
12:14Oh, bingo!
12:15That's why its movement is called the water cycle!
12:18But water has to go somewhere!
12:21Oh, it does!
12:22It goes around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around
12:26and around...
12:27We could be water for the rest of our lives!
12:31We could stay stuck in the water cycle forever!
12:35Wahoo!
12:36Wait a minute!
12:37This is a field trip, right?
12:39I mean, we've got to get back by 3 o'clock!
12:42Don't we?
12:46Oh, no!
12:48It's already 3 o'clock!
12:49I'm going to miss batting practice!
12:51And I've got a dance lesson!
12:54Not to worry, mates!
12:55It's only 3 o'clock in London!
12:58London?
12:58Oh, yeah!
12:59Oh, yeah!
13:07Oh, yeah!
13:10Oh, yeah!
13:11Oh, yeah!
13:11Oh, yeah!
13:11Oh, yeah!
13:11How do we get out of here?
13:13I've got it, Ms. Frizzle!
13:15Since you're the one who turned us into water, just turn us back into regular kids!
13:20Oh, unfortunately, Keisha, I can't do that, because the key I use to turn us all into water is also
13:25water!
13:26Well, don't you have another key?
13:29Would you care to take that one, Wanda?
13:32Well, I, um, I borrowed Miss Vrizzle's keys when Arnold and I, um, went into the, uh, girls' bathroom.
13:40Um, Arnold?
13:41I, uh, I...
13:44Oh, I left the key in the bathroom.
13:47Arnold!
13:48But that's not all.
13:50I also forgot to empty the sink, and I think I forgot to turn the water off all the way.
13:55I don't know.
13:56What if the whole school is flooded?
13:59Arnold, how could you?
14:01Well, if, if we'd just done our reports in the first place, none of this would have happened.
14:07Look out! Taxi cab at three o'clock!
14:11What do we do now?
14:12Remember the water cycle.
14:14What comes after raindrops?
14:20Evaporation!
14:26Whoa! That was close!
14:29I knew I should have stayed home today.
14:33It's cloud time again, you guys!
14:37Seems to me the only way out of the water cycle is to stop being water.
14:42An absorbing solution, Keisha!
14:45I've got it.
14:46Clouds are water and can go everywhere, right?
14:49Wherever the wind blows, Wanda.
14:51So what if we could blow our clouds wherever we want to go?
14:55I think that could be arranged.
15:03Awesome!
15:04The bus can blow us back to school!
15:06Then we can rain down, find the spare key,
15:09and stop being water!
15:11And I can turn off the faucet and save the school!
15:13Here we go!
15:16Here we go!
15:17Yay!
15:19Yes!
15:39Woohoo!
15:47It's our school!
15:49And it's not flooded!
15:52I'll get the key!
15:54Whee!
15:54Whee!
16:04Whee!
16:05Almost there!
16:06Whoops!
16:08Ah!
16:13Liz!
16:14Where's the key?
16:21Liz!
16:30Where's the key?
16:32Liz!
16:32Here we are, Wanda!
16:34Did you see the key?
16:35That's not all I saw.
16:37The bathroom's flooding and Liz is stuck in the fog.
16:40That's it!
16:41Maybe she was trying to escape.
16:43We've got to get inside!
16:45But how?
16:47We're only water!
16:48I know!
16:49The water works!
16:51The water works?
16:53The real water works!
16:55The one my model is modeled after!
16:57It gets water to where we need it!
16:59And we're water!
17:00And we're needed in the girls' bathroom!
17:03And I know how to get us there!
17:05Arnold, you're a genius!
17:07I am!
17:13To the water works!
17:17The reservoir!
17:20That's where the water is stored, and that's where the water works start!
17:24Class, prepare to rain!
17:31There's no turning back now!
17:34We're in the reservoir!
17:39At last, I get to get my report!
17:42According to Arnold's research, a reservoir is where the water we drink is collected!
17:48Um, Arnold, if this is the water we drink, it's pretty disgusting!
17:53Yeah!
17:54It's full of dirt!
17:55Yuck!
17:56I can't believe we drink this stuff!
17:58Follow me to the mixing basin!
18:00Step one in cleaning our water!
18:08Things are sure getting mixed up in here!
18:10But it doesn't look any cleaner!
18:12Yeah, Arnold!
18:13What is this white stuff?
18:15More junk?
18:16Actually, it's alum!
18:18And if you look closely, Carlos, you'll note that the dirt is actually sticking to it,
18:22and thereby, cleaning the water!
18:26It tickles!
18:27Yeah!
18:28But now the water is full of alum blobs!
18:31How do we get rid of this stuff?
18:34This way to the settling basin!
18:40Look!
18:41The dirty alum is settling to the bottom!
18:47And up here, the water's clear!
18:50Are we clean yet?
18:52Almost!
18:53We need to get filtered!
18:54On to the filtration tank, class!
19:03We will now filter through the sand and gravel which you see below you,
19:06to get rid of any tiny particles which may have slipped through the cleansing process!
19:11So we can get really, really clean!
19:13Let's go!
19:16Weeeee!
19:21Wahoo!
19:24Help!
19:27Gee!
19:28Thanks, Miss Frizzle!
19:30Oh, any time, Arnold!
19:32Don't let this dampen your enthusiasm!
19:35Hey, Arnold!
19:36Now that we're clean, how much further to the girls' bathroom?
19:40Um...
19:40This pipe should lead to the school!
19:43Come on, you guys!
19:44Run a mess!
19:47Whoa!
19:50WhoMires!
19:59Oh-choo-schoo...
20:01Ho-choo-schoo!
20:20Are we there yet?
20:23Almost.
20:26Look, a sea monster.
20:31Wait, that tail looks familiar.
20:34Why, it's... It's Liz!
20:38Liz!
20:39It's us!
20:41We're inside the faucet!
20:44You can pull your tail out now!
20:50It must be stuck.
20:52I hate to do this, Liz, but it has to be done.
20:59Hey, Ted!
21:06Hey, your bathroom is way nicer than ours.
21:22Liz, quick!
21:23Get the key ring before we evaporate again!
21:29Liz, quick!
21:34Yay!
21:36Woo-hoo!
21:37Only one problem.
21:39There's not enough room in here to transform the bus.
21:45Tiffany!
21:50Whoa!
22:06Tiffany!
22:07Are you okay?
22:09Uh, I think so.
22:11What happened?
22:12Uh, well, I guess you could say our field trip made a real splash.
22:20Well, as I always say, to appreciate the water cycle, you've got to have a good sense of humid.
22:27Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha,
22:34ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha,
22:35ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha,
22:36ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha,
22:37ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha,
22:40ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha
23:06Magic School Bus, the producer speaking.
23:08Glad you're still there.
23:09I have some questions about the show I just saw on water.
23:12Look, I'm really kind of busy now.
23:15Can you call back tomorrow?
23:16This won't take long.
23:17I just want to know who you think you're kidding.
23:19Kids can't turn into water.
23:21We know that.
23:22We just wanted the kids to behave like water, not be water.
23:26And kids can't evaporate either.
23:28And they can't become clouds or condense into raindrops.
23:31Listen, we weren't trying to fool anybody.
23:34Everything the kids in the show did, water can do and does.
23:38Thanks for your question.
23:41Is this you again?
23:43No, this is another kid.
23:44I have a question about the water cycle.
23:47Water collects, evaporates, condenses.
23:49And rains.
23:50I know, I know.
23:52But you made it seem like it happens in a few minutes.
23:54Sometimes the water cycle can take weeks or years.
23:58You're right.
23:59And water frozen into a glacier can take as many as 10,000 years before it melts again.
24:05Which reminds me.
24:06My mother keeps telling me to conserve water.
24:09But two-thirds of the Earth's surface is water.
24:11So how can we ever run out?
24:13We won't.
24:14While there's plenty of water in the world, it's not always where we want it, when we want it.
24:19In fact, only a tiny part of the Earth's water is drinkable.
24:23Really?
24:23That's right.
24:24So we have to watch how we use it and be careful not to waste it.
24:29So how come nobody said anything to Arnold for forgetting to turn off the water?
24:34Hey, haven't you ever forgotten to turn off the water?
24:37Sure, but that doesn't make it okay.
24:40I agree.
24:41And I promise you, Arnold, we'll never do it again.
24:44I heard that one leaky faucet can waste several gallons of water a day.
24:48That's true.
24:50By the way, you never explain how a cloud snows.
24:54Well, you'll just have to watch our show on weather to find out the answer to that.
24:58Thanks for calling.
24:59Come on, Liz, let's go home.
25:02It's been a long day.
25:10Surfing on a sound wave
25:12Swinging through the stars
25:14Take a lap at your intestine
25:16Take your second right past Mars
25:18I'm a magic school bus
25:19Navigate a nostril
25:21Climb on the magic school bus
25:24Spank a plankton, too
25:25Take that
25:26On our magic school bus
25:28Wrap the river of lava
25:30On our magic school bus
25:32Such a fine thing to do
25:34So strap your bones right to the sea
25:36Come on in and don't be shy
25:39Just to make your day complete
25:41You might get baked into a pie
25:43On the magic school bus
25:44Step inside, it's a wild ride
25:48Come on
25:49Right on the magic school bus
25:51Mar Wilson
