00:00So how do you know whether you have a pinched nerve? Well typically you're
00:04going to have pain or numbness and tingling down the arm or leg that radiate
00:07below the elbow or knee. The most common pinched nerve in the neck is C7 which is
00:11most commonly pinched by a herniated disc at C6. If there's a fair amount of
00:14pinch of the C7 nerve root you'll see weakness or even atrophy in the triceps
00:18muscle which is innervated by C7. As for lumbar lower back the most common pinched
00:22nerves are either L4, L5 or S1 and these are due to herniated disc at L4, L5 most
00:27typically and they present as weakness in the ability to pull your big toe back
00:31your foot back or in your calf with heel raises. Good news is most of these get
00:36better with physical therapy and potentially injections but if you've
00:40had your symptoms for a while especially if you're noticing weakness starting to
00:44occur it's time to see your doctor.
