00:23Even for a neonate puppy, he always finds a way to communicate what he needs.
00:28For instance, when he wakes up and starts rooting around, I know that's my cue that I better have some
00:33milk warming up.
00:35When Phillip is napping, that's when we clean and get some rest ourselves.
00:40On paper, the goal sounds simple. Keep this puppy growing.
00:45But in reality, it's a full-time job.
00:48It is two in the morning. The human baby is out to sleep.
00:54So let's get this feeding done for the puppies before she wakes up.

01:03I've spent years caring for neonates like Phillip, doing late-night feeds, emergency intakes, and so many lives depending on

01:11So when I had my daughter, the rhythm felt very familiar.
01:16After taking a short break from our intake while we figured out how to be parents to a human,
01:21we said yes to Phillip, and it was the best decision ever.
