00:00I know that a lot of, a lot of you out there don't care about this, and that's okay.
00:06But I still feel like we should share it.
00:09I mean, I care.
00:10I know you do.
00:11I know you do.
00:13I'm kind of mad about it.
00:15I missed it.
00:16And you're down there, like, glad-handing and, like, back-patting and the rest of it, and Lucas,
00:22and I'm up there with Stiney, like, oh, boy, what are we doing?
00:27I mean, we're trying to talk about Knockout, but Knockout stops because Steve Kerr comes out?
00:33Whatever.
00:34Keep the thing going.
00:35That was a stupid question, Stiney.
00:37Yeah.
00:38Stupid.
00:39I just, he's such a class act.
00:46It's just unbelievable, and you want to know what he wanted to talk about?
00:50Because we kind of, like, Nahegan just, like, throws me the mic, and he's like, here, you talk to Steve
00:55all the time.
00:55You, you, you interview him, and I'm like, oh, okay, so, you know, free throws, am I right?
01:02Like, how'd you, you know, did you used to play Knockout in Arizona?
01:05He's like, yeah, I don't know if you know, but I was good at basketball.
01:08So, anyway, like, all that's happening, and we'll talk to Steve again at 5 o'clock, but at some point
01:16we're talking about,
01:17I don't know, what do you want to say to these folks, and whether it's, like, advice about Knockout playfully
01:21or whatever,
01:22and he goes, I'll tell you what I want to tell everybody here.
01:24He goes, the same thing that I tell all of the players on the team, and that is, is that
01:29the NBA is a machine.
01:32And that may not mean much to you to just hear that statement, the NBA is a machine,
01:36but what he's talking about and why I think he is such a class act and why he is so
01:41good at what he does
01:42is he sees the entire picture, and it's why, for example, so many of you can go on all of
01:50your rants
01:51about how stupid Steve Kerr is and about how his rotations and all of his, right, pet players and the
01:59non-pet players
01:59and all the stuff that people say about Steve Kerr, even though he's got four rings in this city,
02:04he is completely at peace with it because he understands that that's a piece of what makes the NBA go.
02:11The interest, the emotion amongst the fans, the media, he actually coaches the players.
02:19You have to accept this, and this is very important right now for Brandon Pajemski.
02:23You have to accept all of that as part of what we do.
02:28The salaries we make, the life we get to live, it's unbelievable.
02:34And so whether it's because you're a great player or the great players on the other team
02:38or you're a coach or you're a trainer or you're a member of the media or you're just a fan
02:43or whatever it is,
02:44it's all one big machine cycle, and it all feeds each other, and you have to kind of make peace
02:54with that.
02:55And then I think what he also wanted to say was almost just kind of like thank you.
02:58Thank you to each and every one of you fans for being part of our machine because we enjoy this,
03:05and we hope that you enjoy this, and this is what we all do together,
03:08and sometimes it's positive and sometimes it's negative, and that's okay because that's all part of it.
03:13And he grabbed a microphone, and that's what he wanted to say to the 100 people who were in attendance.
03:18Nice.
03:19Yeah.
03:20Nice.
03:21I mean, I missed that whole thing.
03:22Yep.
03:23I mean, I'm doing radio with Steine, and it's like 11, 10, and I'm thinking,
03:27oh, boy, how many more of these am I going to do?
03:29Like with Steinmetz, and I mean, Guru Hurip can get knocked out so I can like go about my day.
03:34Make some shots today, Guru.
03:34And he hung in there, and so, and then Steve Kerr comes out, and the whole thing stops,
03:38and we can't really like stop and listen because we're trying to do like live radio.
03:43You can't really hear it.
03:44I couldn't really hear it, nor could I like, you know, even tune in because we didn't have it like
03:48live on the air,
03:49but I'm glad that that was the message because just watching him come out and, you know,
03:54everybody stops, and you guys all did the big family picture, the group pick,
04:00and Steve was in the middle of it, and then even after that, as the contest was getting back going,
04:05he was doing pictures with everybody.
04:07Anybody who came up, it's like, yep, pick, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom.
04:10So, I mean, the whole idea about him being a class act, I knew that,
04:14but the fact that he would like even show up to that and then do all that, impressive.
04:20It really is.
04:22So, you don't have to like his rotations, whatever.
04:25Kaminga's on the Hawks.
04:26We can do all of this, but that's who he was today, and in a way, maybe it helps a
04:32little bit.
04:32I still think both of us would like to get some things off of our chest about it,
04:35and we already have if you listen to the crossover,
04:37but maybe it helps a little bit with the whole Pods Got Booed thing.
04:42It's part of the deal.
04:43Yeah.
04:44It's part of the deal, and I do think he gets that.
04:47I really do.
04:48Pods or Steve?
04:49Pods.
04:49I mean, he...
04:50And Steve.
04:50Steve, for sure.
04:51I mean, Pods must.
04:52You know, Pods is young.
04:53I'm sure it doesn't feel great, but yeah, I think he gets it.
04:56Of course he gets it.
04:57I mean, he's in his third year.
04:58He's, what, 22, youngest warrior on the team,
05:01and so he understands it.
05:02Like, you're getting paid a lot of money to play basketball,
05:06and you play, and you do your best,
05:07and then if fans want to still go out there and boo you,
05:10it's understandable, and so, I mean, I don't really agree with it.
05:15I don't understand why a fan would, like, look at the Jumbotron at Oracle Park,
05:20and you're there for a Giants game,
05:22and they show Pods and Will Richard,
05:24and you look up, ladies and gentlemen,
05:26Brandon Pajomski is here.
05:28Boo!
05:30Yeah.
05:30Like, at a Giants game.
05:32And a lot of them, too, and Grandy was the one who shared it,
05:34and I'd love to hear, like, Grandy, your thoughts about, like,
05:38how many people, like, how hardy were the boos?
05:41It wasn't, like, unanimous or anywhere near unanimous,
05:44but there were definitely way more boos than cheers.
05:47Oftentimes, things like that, you maybe just get, like,
05:49a handful of, you know, some clapping,
05:52but the boos absolutely outweighed everything else.
05:55Early in the game?
05:57Must have been maybe, like, the fourth or fifth or something.
06:00Well, Friday night, I was hoping it was late in the game
06:02because my thought was, God, I hope all of you are drunk.
06:04No, it wasn't that late.
06:05I think maybe fourth or fifth.
06:07I thought that maybe, you know what I mean?
06:08Because when you're drunk, you do stupid things.
06:10So I was like, maybe they're just drunk.
06:12And that's fine.
06:13I have no problem with you going to a baseball game.
06:15Just get a ride.
06:16I got no problem with you getting drunk at a baseball game.
06:18But if there are 40,000 people there,
06:20and it's loud enough to where Grandy feels like
06:22it's not the majority of people,
06:24but it's at least 5,000 to 10,000 of you,
06:26like, how drunk do you have to be?
06:29Right.
06:30He's also, by the way, he's supporting your baseball team.
06:33Right.
06:34He's not even in his Warriors form right now.
06:37He's out there supporting the baseball team in town.
06:40He didn't even shoot an air ball.
06:43Like, and that's when people always want to,
06:45oh, pods, you know.
06:47I mean, and he wasn't in Steve Kerr's seats.
06:50He just was a guy at a game,
06:52and you put him on the picture on the screen,
06:54and you boo him?
06:55Yeah.
06:56I don't know.
06:56That one kind of hit me.
06:58Yeah.
06:58It hit a lot of people.
06:59Chris Mullen went off about it.
07:01Kalena went off about it.
07:02It's pretty wild.
07:03Let's go to Raphael in Newark.
07:04Hey, Raphael, thank you for calling.
07:06What's up?
07:08Hey, guys.
07:09Thanks for taking the call.
07:10Yeah.
07:10Long-time listener.
07:11Utah caller.
07:12Appreciate it.
07:13Well, I just wanted to point out
07:14the last couple of seconds of the game,
07:16you had Stephen Curry with the ball,
07:19Draymond Green telling Pod to go follow him
07:23on the other side to give Stephen Curry
07:25a better shot,
07:26and Pod just stayed behind the three-point line
07:29hoping he could chug up and miss a three.
07:32Yep.
07:33He probably made a little bit of an error there.
07:35Did you hear Brandon's explanation of that, Raphael?
07:40No, I did not.
07:41But when Draymond Green is yelling at you
07:43in the heat of the moment to go and move,
07:45you would listen to Dray and move.
07:47You would think.
07:49And again, I'm going to, like, yes,
07:51a mistake by Brandon Podjemski.
07:54His point was very, very difficult
07:57when we're talking about a few seconds on the clock.
08:01He's looking over and knows that Steph Curry
08:03is about to have the ball,
08:04and he's thinking to himself,
08:07I could go over there and screen Shangoon,
08:09but then what I'm also doing is I'm bringing my man
08:12over to Steph.
08:13And he said there was a little hesitation there,
08:16and that hesitation is what ended up making the decision
08:21that he made.
08:23But, yeah, I'll give you that, you know,
08:28Draymond was probably right.
08:30Brandon probably should have gone.
08:32Brandon went seven for 11 in the game
08:34with 18 points and three assists,
08:37and, but this is what we do.
08:39We're going to head to bed with Pods as a dummy
08:42because he stood in a spot
08:43and didn't take three steps to his right
08:45when Draymond told him to.
08:47I mean, Raphael, is that kind of where we're at?
08:49I didn't go for a low IQ.
08:50You got to call out Pods for his low IQ.
08:54Those are your words, not mine, Raphael.
08:57Who's saying anything about low IQ?
08:59I don't think any of those ball players are low IQ.
09:02You don't get to the NBA if you're dumb.
09:05I had a low IQ from what I recall.
09:07Who said that?
09:09A lot of callers.
09:10Everybody was saying,
09:11I mean, I had a low basketball IQ.
09:14Isn't that the third?
09:16Well, I mean, yeah.
09:17That's callers.
09:18People call radio shows and say things.
09:20Raphael, thanks.
09:20Right.
09:21And I don't know if there is a basketball IQ test.
09:24I think that a lot of us use the whole thing
09:26about, like, basketball IQ,
09:28and, like, you weaponize it based on what you think about a player.
09:32But do you even see, Raphael, like, thank you so much for calling,
09:36but do you see what just happens there?
09:38Steph Curry returns to a basketball game.
09:41It's an unbelievable performance.
09:44But Jemsky's weekend consisted of going to a baseball game.
09:48Boo!
09:49Then scoring 18 on 7-for-11 shooting against the Houston Rockets.
09:54He missed four shots.
09:57Draymond wants him to go.
09:59He doesn't go.
10:01And immediately it's Kaminga.
10:05All roads.
10:06You gotta get your brains off Kaminga.
10:11You have to.
10:13No, never.
10:14You have to stop with Kaminga.
10:19That's got nothing to do with anything that's happening now.
10:23Pods cost the Giants a game.
10:25Pods miss four shots.
10:27Pods needs to go to the other side of the floor.
10:30Kaminga.
10:32I mean, I don't know.
10:33That was well said.
