00:00But maybe you want to consider other options than the University of Alabama.
00:04What a big story this morning to see that their second leading scorer is not going to be participating.
00:09That's the Midwest region that Alabama is in.
00:13And as of right now, they may be without Aiden Holloway, averaging 17 points a game.
00:19But that's not what's relevant.
00:20He was arrested this morning on a first-degree possession of marijuana charge in a search of a residence in
00:26West Alabama.
00:28He was transported to Tuscaloosa Jail.
00:31The bond was set at $5,000.
00:32They're supposed to play Hofstra coming up on Friday.
00:37Alabama's going to be a big favorite in that one.
00:39And actually, their offense is great.
00:40They score a lot of points.
00:41But that is the deal as of right now with Alabama potentially losing one of their players.
00:46Meanwhile, if you're filling out your brackets, we'll give you a quick look at all of the different regions.
00:52And we'll start off in the East region.
00:55And obviously, the number one overall seed in the NCAA tournament is Duke.
01:02And there they are right there.
01:04Okay, Duke is the number one seed.
01:05They're huge favorites, 30-point favorites coming up this week.
01:08So that's a look at the East.
01:10Now let's look at the West region.
01:12And we'll move on to the West as we are going to look at some of the other teams in
01:16the NCAA tournament.
01:18And there you go.
01:19There is the West bracket as well.
01:22I'm going to quickly go to the South here.
01:24And then I want to get to the World Baseball Classic.
01:27But those of you who are filling out brackets, you can see the Gators are the number one seed there.
01:30And obviously, they're going to get to play in Tampa in their first couple of rounds.
01:33So they've got a good shot to go to the Sweet 16.
01:35All right.
01:36Now, over to the World Baseball Classic.
01:38I was in the house last night watching Team USA win 2-1.
01:42So it was a late night for me watching the United States take care of the Dominican Republic, thanks to
01:46a lot of good pitching.
01:47All three runs on solo home runs.
01:49USA had seven hits.
01:50The DR had eight.
01:50But it was Gunnar Henderson's homer and then Roman Anthony's home run that proved to be the difference.
01:55And USA's bullpen threw four and two-thirds and gave up just two hits, no runs.
02:00And so now in the World Baseball Classic, Team USA a heavy favorite.
02:03Minus 390.
02:04They'll wait the winner of Venezuela and Italy.
02:07We'll preview that game in just a second.
02:08Nolan McLean was announced as the starter for Team USA.
02:11But first, before we get to the future, let's go to the past.
02:14Last night, Mark DeRosa and Albert Pujols weighing in on the great matchup.
02:20Incredible lineup Dominican throws at you.
02:23Incredible respect for it.
02:26Just an unbelievable—that was high-level baseball at its finest.
02:31I mean, for our bullpen to come in and do the job they did, Dominican never stopped.
02:36It was like constant traffic.
02:38Never relaxed.
02:39Just a game we'll remember forever, right?
02:45I think for me, Tyler Rodgers coming in, getting the double play.
02:49David Bednar having traffic.
02:51Griffin Jacks on down the line, just getting it to Mason Garrett Whitlock is absolutely nasty.
02:58So, yeah, just a—and on their side as well, they held us in check.
03:02It was three solo shots decided the game.
03:05So, proud to be a part of it.
03:09You think at all in 10 days with ABS that game ends differently?
03:13I just said it in Spanish.
03:15I don't want to focus on the last game—in that last pitch.
03:18Obviously, it didn't go our way.
03:22Disappointed about the way that the game ends.
03:24But I don't want to criticize any of that.
03:28It just—it wasn't meant to be for us.
03:33I think both teams pitched well, played well.
03:36Our bullpen really did an outstanding job.
03:39So, you know, they did a great job as well.
03:42So, I'm not really going to focus the whole game, especially a great game like it was tonight, on that
03:48last pitch.
03:49And Pujols alluding to a final pitch thrown to Geraldo Perdomo that ended up being low but called a strike
03:56to end the game.
03:57All right.
03:58The big game, of course, coming up tonight in the semifinals will determine who gets to play Team USA.
04:04And as you can see there, Venezuela, a heavy favorite against Italy, 8 p.m. tonight in Miami with a
04:09total of 10.
04:10The winner plays for the World Baseball Classic Championship on Tuesday night against Team USA.
04:16Kyder Montero, Aaron Nola are the expected starters in tonight's game.
04:21Meanwhile, the National Basketball Association making news.
04:23It looks like coming up pretty soon, we're going to get a vote on the expansion of the National Basketball
04:28Association to Las Vegas and Seattle.
04:31They're going to vote to determine whether or not this would go from 30 to 32, maybe 31.
04:36You never know.
04:37But to keep it even, it's got to go to 32 also.
04:39There could be a situation where either the Minnesota Timberwolves or Memphis Grizzlies, according to ESPN, go from the Western
04:46Conference to the Eastern Conference.
04:48So wait to see there.
04:50All right.
04:50As far as college basketball is concerned, it is the story of the season, not involving one of the major
04:55teams in college basketball.
04:57It did involve Miami, Ohio, who ended up losing in their conference tournament.
05:01They did get in the tournament, but they got to play in the first four here as they're the number
05:0511 seed.
05:06Going to play SMU to determine who is that 11 that moves on and moves on to the next round.
05:13But they are in and they're going to play in Dayton, Ohio.
05:15So they should have a chance, although they're not going to be favored in this game.
05:18Here's Travis Steele on that opportunity.
05:19Very excited to be selected as an at-large team for the NCAA tournament.
05:25Huge honor.
05:26I'm happy for our guys.
05:27Thought our guys had earned it all season.
05:29Obviously didn't go the way that we wanted to in Cleveland, but our guys will learn from it.
05:34And I think we're built for March.
05:35We've played in a lot of close games.
05:37Excited that we'll be playing in Dayton, which hopefully a lot of our fans will be able to make it
05:41to the game.
05:42Should be a home crowd for us, which I think will be advantage of us.
05:45But we're excited to get out there and play.
05:46I don't know a ton about SMU.
05:48I've seen them kind of casually play on TV, national TV.
05:52But like other than that, I don't know a ton about them.
05:54But we'll learn a lot about them tonight.
05:57Meanwhile, the Duke Blue Devils are the number one overall seed in the NCAA tournament.
06:01Also, Arizona got a one.
06:02The Gators got a one despite losing in the semifinals of the SEC tournament.
06:06Michigan also got a number one as well despite losing in the Big Ten championship.
06:11Michigan falls to Purdue 80-72.
06:13Purdue was four and a half point dogs, but they end up winning.
06:16And that gets them up to a number two seed in the West region in the NCAA tournament.
06:21Here's Matt Painter on the big win for the Boilermakers and Dusty May on where they go from here.
06:25Obviously, playing four games in four days is something we haven't done before.
06:30We've been lying to do it before, but not getting to this point.
06:33So, I just thought our guys had a great effort and concentration because that's hard.
06:39It's hard to get, you know, back up and play another game and do it four consecutive days.
06:45So, you know, I thought we put ourselves in a good position.
06:49They scored, I think, like four to six points to finish the half while we were trying to juggle lineups
06:54with foul trouble
06:56and really wanted to have an advantage there and kind of how you finish the first half
07:02and how you start the second half is such an important piece of the game.
07:05So, we did a good job of starting the second half, a little bit of a roll of the dice
07:08with Oscar having three fouls
07:11and starting right there.
07:12You know, he gets a quick foul there.
07:14It can change some things for our team.
07:16And so, you do that and he doesn't foul, you're a genius.
07:20You do that and he does foul, you're a dumbass.
07:23And so, there's just nothing in between right there.
07:26Well, we'll have to get back and get our opponent and start preparing the scouting report.
07:30But we'll refer back to a couple lessons we learned from this game.
07:32I want to begin by congratulating Purdue four games in four days
07:36and for their three seniors that have been together for a long time.
07:39It looked like they really found something deep inside.
07:42And when you start the year preseason, number one, you have two first-team All-Americans
07:45and that doesn't go as planned.
07:47You come in here as a seventh seed with your back against the wall and play the way they did
07:51and perform the way they did is, you know, it's impressive.
07:55And especially, I thought, TKR, I thought his force around the rim.
08:01I thought Braden's ability to manage the game, 21 assists, two turnovers
08:07against constant pressure was very admirable.
08:10But overall, they earned it.
08:12Obviously, we weren't at our best, but obviously, Purdue has something to do with that.
08:15But, we'll take it quickly.
08:15So, make sure you check it out.
08:15You are going to make sure that you realized why you can do it.
