00:00High-powered offense of all time, the 1994 San Francisco 49ers.
00:05Who's the number one offense in the league, do you?
00:07I'm gonna be honest with you.
00:08Why can't you be number 10?
00:10I did not like you when you was with the 49ers.
00:13You can't play for the 49ers.
00:14This ain't got to do with your personal opinion.
00:16Okay, okay, okay, okay.
00:17You can't bring personal opinion.
00:19Yes, you can.
00:20That's the way I felt.
00:22And we feel that that scored more points and more touchdowns than any team in 1994 belongs at number 10.
00:33I think when you look at other teams and other eras, they were...
00:37The MVP, greatest receiver of all time, you can say that.
00:43But what really puts them on the list is playoffs.
00:4644 points a game in the playoffs, they might have to be higher.
00:50Certain points where you felt like this team can rally to win.
00:54This team can do what it takes to win.
00:56Every time that Steve Young and that 49ers offense got under center in that 94 season,
01:01you felt like they're scoring every time they touched the ball.
01:05And when they didn't, it was actually a huge surprise.
01:07If the offense exploded that season, Steve Young lit the fuse.
01:11In the finest season of his career, Young was named NFL MVP for the second time.
01:17Man, you gotta start with Steve Young.
01:19He was a guy who could literally throw for 300 yards, and he probably could almost run for 100.
01:24Steve was a tremendously highly accurate passer.
01:28Touchdown 49ers!
01:30And I think that was one of the greatest single seasons a quarterback ever had.
01:34If not the greatest, Young threw 35 touchdowns, completed 70% of his passes,
01:40and set the NFL record for the highest passer rating in a single season.
01:45Steve not only was able to throw the ball effectively, they ran the ball effectively,
01:49and he was a part of that running game that made them so difficult to defend.
01:55But really, how can talk of the 1994 49ers not center around the GOAT?
02:02Jerry Rice playing in his 10th season.
02:04Young throws downfield, Jerry Rice, he's got it!
02:07Jerry Rice was still doing it.
02:09He had almost 1,500 yards that season.
02:11He had a 74% catch rate.
02:13He was just catching anything Steve Young threw at him.
02:16And he's over time.
02:18The Niners won the NFC West in 94.
02:21They cruised into the playoffs, where they won each game by an average of nearly 21 points.
02:26That offense really shut everyone up, because they went 13-3.
02:30They were the biggest favorites in the history of the Super Bowl.
02:34The Super Bowl was such a letdown, because we're in Miami playing the Chargers,
02:38and in the first quarter, the game...
02:42...for Jerry, and Rice is there!
02:44And he's into the end zone!
02:46Touchdown 49ers!
02:47Jerry Rice had already scored a couple touchdowns.
02:49It was done.
02:50Someone take the monkey off my back, please!
02:52Oh, it was a good one!
02:54They have ripped the monkey from Steve Young's back.
02:56He's like, I have a thing on my back.
02:58It's not scoliosis.
02:59It's a large orangotan.
03:00How did he throw passes if you have a large primate on your shoulders?
03:04I mean, regular season and playoffs, they're the highest scoring team in NFL history
03:11to actually win the Super Bowl.
03:14How can they...
03:16They should really be higher than 10.
03:20We would have never known.
03:22The number 9 high-powered offense of all time, the 2011 New Orleans Saints.
03:27The bounce first game, Saints?
03:285,300 passing yards in a season.
03:31Sure.
03:32That's incredible.
03:33Meacham has the touchdown!
03:36And that's what number on this list?
03:38Number 9.
03:399?
03:40See, look.
03:41Drew Brees not getting the credit he deserves once again.
03:44Here we go, Drew.
03:45Drew Brees may be overlooked, but his...
03:47Never.
03:48She might be right.
03:50I forgot that they somehow scored 45 points and beat the Lions in the playoffs.
03:55I said they got those first round.
03:58Never mind.
04:04Payton led the Saints to a 13-3 mark, tied for the best record in franchise history.
04:10I think this is the perfect match of Drew Brees coming together with Sean Payton and really hitting their stride.
04:19Brees and Payton have been together a long time.
04:22Not many quarterbacks and head coaches have the chance to build almost a decade-plus of continuity, and that's what
04:29Drew Brees and Sean Payton have had.
04:35This is Drew Brees, who unfortunately, for some reason, maybe it's because the offensive scheme that he plays in, never
04:43gets mentioned as, like, one of the top three quarterbacks of all time.
04:47I don't understand that.
04:48Drew's numbers from 2011 are...
04:51Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.
04:51He's top ten, but top three, I'm not going to say that.
04:55Staggering.
04:56Definitely top ten.
04:56Seven straight 300-yard passing games, a record 5,347 passing yards, and a stunning 71% completion rate.
05:06Not only is that hard to pull off, but he's completing this, doing it down the field.
05:09So to complete 71% of your passes when you're throwing the ball like that is really one of the
05:13best accomplishments of all time.
05:15Leaping reception is made for the score!
05:18He was so great.
05:19Drew Brees is not so tall.
05:20I'm more tall than Drew Brees.
05:22And yet his tosses were so fast and magical.
05:25I love that about him.
05:26Here's Brees throwing the fade for a minus four, and a minus four has taken it in for the score!
05:35The secret weapon in that offense was the smallest weapon.
05:38At 5'6", Darren Sproles set a season record with nearly 2,700 all-purpose yards.
05:45Because he's so tiny, he's just more aerodynamic than the other guys on the field, and that's sort of how
05:51he gets all of those stats.
05:53It's a touchdown!
05:55Slippery little super smurf, Darren Sproles!
05:58The 2011 Saints didn't have the biggest players, but now they stand tall as the number nine high-powered offense
06:05of all time.
06:08The number eight high-powered offense of all time.
06:11The 1981 San Diego Chargers.
06:14Number eight.
06:15Eric Correale, Kellen Winslow as a tight end, the running back, Chuck Muncy, and of course the great Dan Fouts.
06:21Yeah.
06:21Recite the roster all you want.
06:23This offense was stacked with stats and innovation.
06:28I think statistically, the 81 Chargers, I see why you have them where you do, but what's the legacy?
06:35You know, I don't know that some of the offenses that you're going to have on this list have any
06:39kind of legacy.
06:40The 81 Chargers have a legacy.
06:42Their legacy simply was Eric Correale.
06:45Coach Don Correale's aerosol offense was a breakthrough.
06:54You can't end your season with seven points against the Bengals defense that was, you know, slightly above average.
07:04The 81, it was shattering defenses.
07:06Dan Fouts threw 33 touchdowns for over 4,800 yards.
07:10Unheard of numbers for that era.
07:12I covered the Oakland Raiders back then, and the Raiders with all these great scary guys, John Matuszak and Lester
07:20Hayes and Ted Hendricks, they were scared to death of Eric Correale for good reason.
07:25It was precision passing at his finest in terms of set your back foot, get rid of the football, and
07:31hit the receiver before he breaks.
07:33It was poetry in motion.
07:37This was an incredible offense, but all you ever heard about was Eric Correale and the Chargers.
07:42Chuck Muncy had 19 rushing touchdowns that year, and he did it while wearing your grandfather's reading glasses.
07:49Chuck Muncy was the one that made it all work.
07:51He's running like crazy for 1,000 yards, which was a big deal back then.
07:56That allowed those wide receivers and Kellen Winslow to do all the magic that they did.
08:01On its all season, the wide receiver in tight end clothing caught 88 passes for nearly 1,100 yards.
08:08Big bodied guy, looks like a wide receiver, moves like a wide receiver, but has the body of alignment like
08:14he was the X factor for that team.
08:16In the old days, the tight end was just a blocker.
08:18When they came on with Kellen Winslow, I think they changed that whole dynamic of the NFL where now you've
08:25got these tight ends who are just as good as wide receivers.
08:28Guys like him paved the way for future guys like Shannon Sharp and players like that.
08:34So, this Chargers team was ahead of the game.
08:37They also had Charlie Jordan.
08:39The Chargers possessed the most potent offense in league history and set scores of records.
08:45But like the heroes of classic drama, they were not without flaws.
08:50The Chargers went 10-6 in 1981.
08:53They won their third straight divisional crown, but never did make it to the Super Bowl.
08:58The only thing that stopped the Chargers was the cold.
09:02Riverfront Stadium, Cincinnati.
09:05The AFC Championship.
09:08They played in a game that was minus 59 degrees.
09:11That was the only thing that stopped them.
09:13Plus, they played a six-hour game the week before against Miami.
09:16Probably one of the most exhausting games.
09:18Kellen Winslow with his teammates.
09:22So, it was a lot to ask.
09:24Playoff suckers aside, the 81 Chargers not only made their mark on our list,
09:29they made their mark on offenses for years to come.
09:32Did you know that the Cowboy team that won Super Bowls 27-28
09:40with the same offense, essentially, as the Chargers teams from the early 80s?
09:46Same numbering system.
09:47They changed a lot of what
09:51high-powered offense of all time.
09:53The 1950 Los Angeles Rams.
09:57Pure numbers.
09:58Pure per-game numbers.
10:01Pure adjusting for error.
10:03They're not high enough.
10:05It's an offense that was, obviously, way, I mean, 40 years ahead of its time when you think about it.
10:12Don't let the black and white footage fool you.
10:15The 1950 Los Angeles Rams were not your great-grandfather's normal cup of oval team.
10:20And that is what makes them the number 7 high-powered offense of all time.
10:2539 points per game.
10:34By throwing backs, they had Norm Van Brocklin, and they had Bob Waterfield.
10:39The Rams led by Bob Waterfield.
10:42Make their appearance.
10:43Each of them started six games, and they would rotate in and out,
10:47and they had a very prolific passing offense.
10:50And it's Waterfield again doing the damage.
10:52They really brought the passing game teams out.
10:55The 1950 Rams is a case to be made.
10:57The passing game doesn't take good.
10:59Again, it's Van Brocklin from the leather for the Rams.
11:02It was something exciting.
11:03It wasn't like,
11:04ball, ball, here's Steve, and you're in running four yards.
11:07It's Van Brocklin slinging that rock.
11:09Van Brocklin gets off a tremendous heat.
11:14The 1950 Field Hall of Fame.
11:15Young Nolan Hall of Fame at quarterback.
11:17Tom Fierce.
11:18They've got a great possession of us who had the 18 balls in the game.
11:22Ragey Tom Fierce gathers it in on the dead run.
11:25And then they had the burner.
11:26Roy just didn't know how to afford him.
11:28They didn't know how to match up with him.
11:29And Frank.
11:30The Rams' abundance of talent led to them setting an NFL record for highest scoring offense per game.
11:36A record that has remained unbroken six decades.
11:40They scored 466 points that season.
11:43That was 100 points more than the next closest team, which was the New York Yanks.
11:47They averaged over 38 points per game.
11:5238.8!
11:5438.8!
11:55With no player safety rules.
11:57No illegal contact.
11:59Right?
12:00Scoring 39 points a game in 1950 is like somebody scoring 69 points a game today.
12:06Waterfield reached down into his diamond tricks for an old Waterfield special.
12:14Still the only team to score 60 or more points twice in a season, our number 7 high-powered
12:19offense was a harbinger of things up.
12:23If you are really going by which team was the most dominant era, there's an argument that
12:28the 1950 Rams should rank first.
12:31It was one of the first true modern offenses, though.
12:34Bob Waterfield, the Rams' star passer, gets off a touchdown area.
12:39Powered offense of all time, the 1983 Washington Redskins.
12:46Yep.
12:47They were coming off the strike year of 82, and they won the Super Bowl theoretically that
12:52year.
12:52But a lot of people weren't taking that too seriously because of the shortened season.
12:56For them to come back in 83 and just go wild as they did offensively, that was pretty
13:02impressive.
13:03Not impressive enough to be in the top 5 or the top 4, but nevertheless, it was impressive.
13:07We agree.
13:09But unlike other offenses that stormed the league, the 83 Skins had less lightning, but
13:15all the thunder.
13:16What I remember most was just a ginormous hogs of the offensive line of the Washington Redskins.
13:22I love them hogs!
13:24I love them hogs!
13:25I love them hogs!
13:27I love them hogs!
13:29I love them hogs!
13:49I love them hogs!
13:58I love them hogs!
13:59I love them hogs!
14:00I love them hogs!
14:01John Riggins ran for 1,300 yards and he's already like 34 years old at that point.
14:06Riggins stole the headlines, but this offense had layers.
14:10It didn't set an NFL record with 541 points three yards at a time.
14:15Joe Theismann was really good.
14:17We don't give him enough credit, the fact that he won an MVP.
14:20Yes, the running game was great, but the running game wasn't breaking out any big runs.
14:25That wasn't John Riggins' game.
14:26They got their big plays outside.
14:28The wide receiver core was just amazing.
14:30They had Art Monk, again, a steady presence.
14:33They had Charlie Brown.
14:35He was an elusive player, a guy kind of like if you would think about Wes Welker now or somebody
14:40like that or Julian Edelman, the kind of smaller receiver who's able to get in there.
14:44So they had the fun bunch and they had a cool end zone celebration which annoyed the Cowboys,
14:49which makes it fun for everybody else.
14:53I'm enraged, the fun bunch.
14:55I would have grounded all of them or made them do crunches or something.
15:00So magical.
15:01Everyone is in unison.
15:03They are like, everyone, my hand is feeling kind of cold.
15:06I need to heat it up.
15:07Will I heat it up with your hand as well?
15:09And six men said yes.
15:11Yes.
15:14Washington lost just two games in the regular season and may have saved its entire arsenal
15:19for the playoff opener.
15:21Man, they go in the playoffs and they whooped the Rams so bad.
15:25Washington was so overwhelmed that not even a presidential partner could have saved the Rams
15:31on this day.
15:32That's one of the worst blowouts I've ever seen.
15:34I think it was 51 to 7, something like that.
15:38It was ridiculous.
15:39But they scored nine points in the Super Bowl.
15:41When you're going through this list, when you get to the Super Bowl, that's really something
15:45that stands out to me.
15:46Like, are you able to score a lot of points in the Super Bowl?
15:49That's when you're playing the best of the best.
15:57So, I might judge them a little bit more harshly.
15:59The number five high-powered offense of all time, the 1984 Miami Dolphins.
16:07Marino really airing it out against this alleged disciplined deep zone defense by the Rams.
16:13There was no slowing them down.
16:15I mean, when they got the ball, they were going to do what they wanted to do.
16:24In 1984, Dan Marino became the first quarterback to throw for over 5,000 yards and set an NFL
16:31record with 48 touchdown passes, making the Finns the fifth high-powered offense of all
16:36time.
16:39Yeah, we didn't call them video game numbers because we didn't have video games back then
16:43that could put up numbers like the 1984 Dolphins day.
16:46Marino, who was just a different cat altogether.
16:49Marino this, Marino that, Marks Brothers this, Marks Brothers that, Nate Moore that.
16:57Who was their running back?
17:01They're overrated.
17:02You have to have a pass game and run game to be considered that great of an offense.
17:12We had not really seen a guy throw a ball like Dan Marino before.
17:15Looks right across the middle, he's got Clayton open, touchdown Dolphins!
17:19And they had the Marks Brothers, Clayton and Dupor, both with over 1,300 yards receiving.
17:24He's got Dupor down there, he's got it!
17:26Another buddy!
17:2715, 2, 1, touchdown!
17:33This was one of the first teams that didn't care.
17:36They would throw on first downs.
17:38They would sometimes throw with the lead.
17:40They would throw vertically on second and short, third and short.
17:42The 1984 Dolphins perfectly fit the profile of what most high powered offenses are.
17:48They're passing offenses.
17:50Who led them in rushing?
17:52Who were the running backs on the Dolphins team?
17:55They had Tony Nathan as their top running back.
17:57Tony Nathan was a back, but he was a receiving back.
18:00He caught over 60 balls.
18:02Uh, Mercury Morris?
18:04Larry Zonka?
18:05Larry Zonka?
18:06Like, I don't know.
18:07Woody Bennett?
18:08Uh, not a name.
18:11Woody Bennett.
18:13606 yards, 7 TDs in that year.
18:16Well, who could forget Woody Bennett except for everybody?
18:22There was a time when an NFL quarterback, if he reached 25,000 yards for his career, that
18:29was considered the baseline.
18:30Like, yeah, that guy's a Hall of Famer.
18:32So when Dan Marino came out and hit 5,000, it really showed that the game was taking a
18:36step forward.
18:37But also, it took so long for somebody to match that.
18:40You know, that just showed how out of the ordinary it was.
18:43Bad open.
18:44Touchdown!
18:45The 1984 Dolphins went 14-2 and are the only Dolphins team to score over 500 points in
18:52a season.
18:52And although they weren't perfect, they are the number 5 high powered offense of all
18:58time.
18:58Here's Marino.
19:00Wide open field.
19:01Throws for a touchdown.
19:02And there's the record.
19:03I mean, we had never seen anything like that, the way they threw the ball in Miami.
19:07That was the best they've ever been.
19:09Marino gets another three touchdown game.
19:11I mean, I know the 72 team gets all the glory, but there was never one time Marino came into
19:18the league and got good with that team.
19:20Are you kidding me?
19:27The 1998 Minnesota Vikings.
19:31The 1998 Vikings are number 4.
19:35Boom!
19:36Boom!
19:36Yes we are!
19:38Yes we are!
19:39Yes we are!
19:40Yes we are!
19:40And I was a fan at this point.
19:42Were we not bad then though?
19:44That was a scary team.
19:45So that year it was Cunningham with Carter and Moss together.
19:49Oh right!
19:50Imagine those three coming together.
19:52You don't have to imagine, you just go to the tapes.
19:55Yes!
19:55Wait!
19:56Huh!
19:57Right!
19:58Right to Randy!
20:00Right to Randy!
20:01Goes deep!
20:03Touchdown!
20:04Randy Moss!
20:06This offense was loaded.
20:09Chris Carter.
20:14First down!
20:15Randy Moss.
20:16Moss!
20:17Leaping catch for Randy Moss!
20:19Jake Reed.
20:20Touchdown Jake Reed!
20:22And Robert Smith.
20:23Robert Smith.
20:23Look out!
20:24Here he goes!
20:25Pull it away!
20:26You know Randall Cunningham.
20:27Rolling out Randall Cunningham.
20:29Randal McDaniel on...
20:31Randal McDaniel on the offensive line.
20:33He got it!
20:35Cunningham on the keeper.
20:36They were dominating that year.
20:38Cunningham, he looks out there and he's laughing.
20:44They call me the freak, man.
20:46They call me the freak.
20:47They call me the freak.
20:47They call me the freak.
20:47They call me the freak.
20:47Because I'm a freak of nature.
20:48You gonna see today, just keep your eyes glued to the TV.
20:51Our number four high powered offense was loaded with talent.
20:55But it was a freak who scored an NFL rookie record of 17 touchdowns that made the
21:0098 Vikings so special.
21:03Fire's deep!
21:04Pat Moss!
21:05Touchdown Vikings!
21:06He was electrifying as a rookie.
21:09Bomb downfield to Moss.
21:11Down there.
21:12Juggles in it.
21:13Oh!
21:14Touchdown!
21:15The reason he's a first ballot Hall of Famer is because the moment that he stepped
21:19on the football field as a rookie for the Minnesota Vikings, he was unstoppable.
21:23I mean, it was backyard football.
21:26Chuck it up.
21:27The quarterback just throw it up.
21:29He'll just throw it up.
21:30The guy can now jump you.
21:31Oh!
21:33Touchdown Vikings!
21:34Leaping pitch for Randy Moss!
21:39Incredible.
21:40And I'll tell you guys, we have the three teams that have been 15-1 in the football league.
21:46Alright?
21:46Give yourselves a round of applause.
21:48Go!
21:49Go!
21:51Go!
21:51The Vikings scored 556 points in 1998, the most points scored by any team in the 1990s.
21:59Yeah.
21:59However, the number four high powered offense is often remembered for something else.
22:05No!
22:07Then go Super Bowl.
22:07Well, I was so surprised when they didn't make the Super Bowl.
22:10He's done it all year long.
22:11He hasn't missed an extra point or a field goal.
22:13He'll go win it.
22:15He makes this.
22:16Pretty much this game is over.
22:18And then, I think Gary Anderson was the kicker.
22:20And he had like a chip shot to win the game.
22:2339 yard attempt.
22:24Nobody ever talks about that the right side of the Vikings line collapsed inward like a 200 year old building
22:35that's just been hit by a wrecking ball.
22:40They let three Falcons rush Gary Anderson from the right side and he had to pull that kick left or
22:47was going to get blocked.
22:48And then he got hit and it should have been a penalty.
22:52Why are we blaming Gary Anderson for that?
23:00Gary Anderson on the way!
23:02That's no good!
23:04And he missed it.
23:08It's like getting punched in the gut for Viking fans all over the United States.
23:15All Vikings fans still feel haunted from that moment.
23:18He hadn't missed a field goal the whole season.
23:22The spot, the kick.
23:27Wide.
23:28No, it's good.
23:30I was hoping it was wide, it didn't.
23:33Atlanta going on to go to the Super Bowl, they then lost to the Broncos.
23:38They had the ability to count, except the kicker who could make a field goal in the NFC Championship game
23:45and unfortunately, that's kind of ruining their legacy.
23:49Number three high-powered offense of all time, the 2007 New England Patriots.
23:56Just overwhelm opposing defenses.
23:59It was frightening.
24:01The Patriots scored on their first drive of the season and never stopped.
24:06Brady fires to welcome, touchdown!
24:09First touchdown pass of the season, scored on the first drive of the season.
24:13It's fun to watch a professional team just tell the NFL to screw off, tell the rest of the league
24:19to screw off.
24:19We're going to embarrass you each week and that's what they did.
24:23This is like a midget league team stumbled onto the field against the big boys.
24:28We can say it's a great offense, but let's just say what it is.
24:31It's Brady and Moss.
24:32When you have the combination of Brady and Randy Moss, football doesn't get any more fun than that.
24:39Place it!
24:40Direction after Brady.
24:43Touchdown, Randy Moss!
24:45Touchdown, Randy Moss!
24:46The 98 Vikings and the 07 Patriots.
24:50What do they have in common?
24:51Oh right, Randy Moss.
24:56Randy Moss looked washed up for the Raiders.
24:59And so the Patriots, as they're known to do, they got him on a good deal in the trade.
25:03I was actually hanging out with Moss when he got the phone call from the Patriots telling him that he
25:08had been traded.
25:09Just so much elation came over his face.
25:12It's such a classic Patriots move where you get a guy who's amazing in his career but maybe has some
25:17questions and he's older and saying,
25:19come sign with us for one year or two.
25:23You know how trash one team has to be and how good one team has to be for somebody to
25:30be happy that they're going from California weather to New England weather?
25:36Think about that.
25:39Watching the 07 Patriots was like you expected touchdowns.
25:44Like anytime they'd kick a field goal, you'd forget field goals existed.
25:47Oh!
25:48We kick in this game?
25:50Play action fake.
25:51Tom Brady shoots it down the middle.
25:52It is caught!
25:53That's a 40!
25:5435-30!
25:55He's going to go all the way!
25:56Touchdown, Patriots!
25:58De'Ante Starward!
25:59They were really running up the score on teams.
26:02I remember that game against the Washington Redskins where it seemed unfair.
26:06Look, starts to run with it.
26:07Now he's going to run it and take it in!
26:09Touchdown!
26:10Fire's end zone!
26:11Touchdown, Randy Moss!
26:12They were just running up the score on them.
26:15Touchdown, Wes Welker!
26:17Those poor Reds, like I actually felt bad for them.
26:19I'm like, ah, this is kind of weird.
26:22Belichick said after, it's their job to stop us.
26:25What are we supposed to do?
26:31The other thing about those 07 Patriots, their average margin of victory was 25 points.
26:37We have not seen it!
26:39Sure enough, 16-0.
26:42Single season touchdown record for Moss.
26:45Single season touchdown record for Brady.
26:47Single season team scoring record in the NFL.
26:51Direct snap to Brady.
26:52Stands in the pocket.
26:54Fires it to the right.
26:55Down the right sideline.
26:56And caught at the 20-15-10-5.
26:59Touchdown, Patriots!
27:01Tom Brady to Randy Moss.
27:03And they each have set NFL records on the go-ahead touchdown.
27:08And boy, I'll tell you what, it was a combustible,
27:12combustible, fiery, just unstoppable duo
27:16until they met the Giants in the Super Bowl.
27:18One game.
27:22And I know it's hard to say,
27:24well, it's unfair to judge them on this one game,
27:27but it's like, we're judging the best of all time.
27:31We have to bring in all the information.
27:34So I think it's kind of a fair ranking.
27:36I think that had they won that game,
27:38if they had scored 21 points and won that game,
27:42I think, without a doubt, this would be the greatest offense of all time.
27:46Bye!
27:56I think Peyton Manning made the 2013 Broncos the best offense in NFL history.
28:02We can agree to disagree, and we'll leave the 2013 Broncos.
28:08Yeah, then they scored eight points in the Super Bowl.
28:11...as the second best, though their numbers are hard to beat.
28:14They'll score again now! More points on the board!
28:16They scored 50 in a game three times,
28:19and set records with the most points and touchdowns in a single season.
28:23DT at midfield, and he is long gone!
28:25Peyton Manning was throwing touchdowns in his game like one yard in a quarterback sneak.
28:30Manning's 51st touchdown pass of the year.
28:33I mean, he had 55 touchdowns that year, and it wasn't just Manning.
28:38There was an incredible collection of talent around him.
28:40Guys like Julius Thomas, Wes Welker.
28:42Demarius Thomas, Eric Decker, those guys right there.
28:45It has to be a joy to play with Peyton Manning.
28:48Alright, that's just one!
28:49You're gonna have plenty more of those!
28:51Because you know that you're throwing the ball a hell of a lot more than you're gonna run it.
28:56The offense was really designed to Manning's strengths.
29:00Omaha! Omaha! Omaha!
29:02Manning had perfected the art of passing.
29:04This was possibly the greatest season for a quarterback ever,
29:08and I don't just mean statistically, I mean intellectually.
29:11He figured out how to play quarterback in a way no one had ever done before.
29:15Especially coming back from these neck surgeries,
29:18and this guy looks like he was born again.
29:20Peyton Manning scampers into the end zone.
29:23He was a born-again quarterback, and came back from the dead practically,
29:28and put together an amazing season.
29:34Some teams need time to find their stride.
29:37They all had a 1,000-yard rusher in Nelson Moreno.
29:41Let's give some credit to him.
29:43He had 1,000 yards, 10 touchdowns,
29:46on a team with the all-time leading passer in the season.
29:50So, it's not like he was getting the ball that much.
29:59This was no ordinary season.
30:04Seven touchdown passes opening game against the Baltimore Ravens.
30:07I was there, I saw it, I couldn't believe it.
30:09Manning to give him the gun, throws, he's got Thomas again, he's open,
30:12and Thomas is into the end zone, Denver touchdown!
30:15Touchdown!
30:17Disgraceful to give that up as a Super Bowl champion.
30:20Seven touchdown passes.
30:22Not a bad performance.
30:24Not a bad performance.
30:24Peyton Manning was just picking spots and made it look effortless.
30:29Peyton Manning is hitting everybody.
30:31He's got all the time in the world, and his receivers are coming up big.
30:34That was probably the singular game in my estimation that Peyton Manning was unbelievable.
30:42I came away from that game going,
30:44man, these guys are going to be really hard to stop if Peyton Manning can stay healthy.
30:51The Raider, I didn't necessarily like to see so much success out of the Denver Broncos, but I was happy
30:57to see them lose in the Super Bowl.
30:59And there lies the controversy, because the number two team on our list not only lost the Super Bowl,
31:06they were downright crushed.
31:09This has got to be a joke.
31:11They didn't even look like they were an NFL team.
31:14The ball is hit, as it comes out, and it picks out.
31:16Oh, man.
31:17Like, I would be fine not even having them on the list.
31:20What?
31:20I would put the 92 Cowboys on there.
31:22I would not have them at number two.
31:24What?
31:24The first...
31:25Not even having them on the list is insane.
31:29I had the games over Peyton.
31:30First Paddy on 14, and the ball goes into the end zone!
31:34Which you just wouldn't expect from a Peyton Manning team,
31:37or an offense that had been so efficient all year long.
31:40But that can't discount what they were as an offense.
31:42And Peyton Manning, at that point of his career,
31:45to put up those numbers with those weapons...
31:48I know this.
31:49If you ask any defensive coach in the history of the game,
31:51or defensive player,
31:52I bet you they'd list Peyton Manning and that offense
31:55as the one they'd want to face the least.
31:56The number one high-powered offense of all time,
31:59the 1999 St. Louis Rams.
32:09They're scoring the ball every time.
32:11They're going to score every time they touch the ball.
32:14Warner pumps for him.
32:15Has him as a goal.
32:16Touchdown!
32:17The greatest show on turf.
32:18Said all you needed to know.
32:21Touchdown!
32:21It was unbelievable what they could do.
32:24Bruce, Holt, Orlando Pace, Marshall Falk,
32:28Kurt Warner coming out of nowhere to become the MVP.
32:31What a pass by Kurt Warner!
32:39Just insane football that was going 100 miles an hour.
32:44And it really caught the NFL by surprise.
32:46How about that offense?
32:52The 1999 St. Louis Rams are the number one high-powered offense of all time
32:58and featured the greatest NFL fairytale ever.
33:01They go into the season thinking they're going to have Trent Green.
33:04Free agent signing.
33:05It looked like a good mix.
33:06It looked like this team's going to step up and be able to do some things.
33:09And then he goes out with an injury.
33:11Green drops.
33:13Great connection.
33:14To number 18.
33:15Now we've got Trent Green down.
33:17We've got Trent Green down in the middle of the field.
33:19Kurt Warner checks in.
33:20We will rally around Kurt Warner.
33:23And we'll play good football.
33:25Kurt Warner?
33:26Who's that?
33:26I mean, Seattle Seahawks running back, right?
33:29That's what everybody thought Kurt Warner was.
33:30Top draft pick, Kurt Warner.
33:33No!
33:34Kurt Warner!
33:35The guy who used to work at the Hy-Vee grocery store down there on University Avenue.
33:40Kurt Warner, who is very nice.
33:41He's like,
33:42Hey, would you like some paper or some plastic or perhaps some beans?
33:45You know, Kurt Warner, the guy who played arena football and NFL Europe for the Amsterdam Admirals.
33:51Who's going to think that this one-time clerk at the Hy-Vee supermarket is going to turn into one
33:58of the greatest quarterbacks of all time?
34:00I love you too.
34:01You're the team.
34:04You are special.
34:06Warner wasn't the only special player on the 99 Rams.
34:09After a preseason trade with the Colts, running back Marshall Falk became one of the main attractions for the greatest
34:16show on turf.
34:17What an effort by Marshall Falk!
34:19Marshall Falk has left the Falkland Islands and has come over and he is running very nice.
34:25He's amazing.
34:27Marshall Falk was the key to that offense because the ability to be a 100-yard rusher and a 100
34:33-yard receiver in the same game was a threat every game with Marshall Falk.
34:371,048 receiving yards, the second most for a running back in NFL history.
34:48The great show on turf just came at you in so many ways with the genius Mike Marks and all
34:52of his crazy plays.
34:53Just a-
34:56Hit it to our weaponry.
34:58Flutter takes off.
34:59Touchdown!
35:01I don't know who feels more foolish.
35:03Me or the Falcons defense?
35:06Some of the offenses he drew up would make the hair on your neck stand up.
35:09I mean, it was exciting football.
35:11You know, they had multiple levels of the field in play.
35:14They had deep receivers.
35:15They had underneath guys.
35:17And they had stuff that you just didn't see other teams doing.
35:28You really felt like you were looking at offense executed at the highest possible level.
35:35Touchdown Rams!
35:40Alright guys!
35:41Last play in the game!
35:43Although a defensive stop gave St. Louis their first Super Bowl title.
35:48Reaches to the goal line!
35:49No!
35:50He falls at the one!
35:51Didn't make it!
35:52Didn't make it!
35:53That's it!
35:54We win!
35:55Woohoo!
35:56The super season ends with a Super Bowl victory!
35:59The legacy of the 99 Rams remains as the team with the number one high powered offense of all time.
36:07Yes!
36:07Scott Rams!
36:08Yes!
36:09One play, one score, and they lead it!
36:12It was the first season of three seasons in a row that they scored over 500 points.
36:18To me, the 99 Rams are the greatest offense in NFL history.
36:22We're still comparing other teams to the 99 Rams.
36:27Our countdown is complete, but the debate lives on.
36:31There are some who didn't like our list, and their opinions were as high powered as the teams themselves.
36:37I know that the 1999 St. Louis Rams version is the number one team on this list.
36:43They averaged less points per game.
36:45You have the Broncos of 2013 ahead of the 07 Patriots.
36:49That's a little bit of a stretch, I think.
36:51I'd argue Vikings too, but...
36:53First of all, the two best is the Chargers and the Rams, because it's right there in the name.
36:59They're ramming, and they're charging.
37:02Say, the Packers.
37:03We don't even know what that is.
37:0550 years.
37:06How long have they been playing?
37:07We still don't know what that is.
37:09Brown?
37:10They were playing nearly 100 years, and they're named after the Green Bay Packing Company.
37:15Yes.
37:17Good luck.
37:18Paul Brown.
37:20Anybody who doesn't know who Paul Brown is, shouldn't be on a dead show.
