00:05it's always hard to be on the other side of someone's great moment and you forget
00:10about the guys who are sitting there having to get out of the way of the confetti here's
00:15some salt here's your gaping wound let's just well it was a heartbreaking way to lose it
00:23what would be the most devastating loss number one has to be a big game
00:31i think the most devastating losses are the ones where the wind is right in your hands
00:36and snatched away from you what an unbelievable turn of events because it was close because it
00:43was there because they could taste didn't feel it has to be a big game and a close game
00:50up 10 with a minute and a half left and you choke it away
00:54there are no blacks on the field you have an entire organization come apart at the seams
01:00very disappointing ending a lot of people are going to be hurt by this this is tough
01:04you're testing me here one thing is true for a loss to make our list it must devastate players
01:11and fans alike it takes like a week for the tears to actually stop and then you're like numb
01:17so easy to feel the heartbreak you always hear time heals all wounds painful losses though never
01:24get over they stay with you for a lifetime one of the fun aspects of this too is what's devastating
01:32for an individual fan base is often quite satisfying for the rest of us some salt in the
01:38wounds that's what that's why people watch shows like this you got me you gotta tell me what it is
01:42number 10 most devastating loss of all time the 2002 nfc championship game that was a blowout and
01:50who really cared that the eagles lost to the bucks bucks were a likable team eagles play in philadelphia
02:002002 nfc championship who was really upset about this loss donovan mcnab his mom and rocky balboa
02:07let's go let's go let's go let's go the bucks were actually maybe the best team in football that
02:12year so i don't really know that that was that devastating a loss you have to really be from
02:20philly to understand that kind of suffering this definitely deserves a spot on the list
02:25no you ask any eagles fan right now this was the game that crushed everybody's soul
02:34in the seasons moving up to that loss everything andy reed and donna mcbabb did turned to gold in
02:40philadelphia the first year they didn't win very much the second year they made the playoffs third
02:45year they went to the nfc championship game in st louis and lost so the next logical step was the
02:52super bowl going into that game it felt like a coronation the eagles couldn't lose the buccaneers
02:57not at home this is the last game in the vet after we win this we're going to celebrate right
03:02here all right so it's the last game in the vet and the eagles look good but the kicker the
03:06cherry
03:07on top of the sundae that nobody ever got to eat was that tampa couldn't play in the cold and
03:12it was
03:12cold that day they won one game when it was below four degrees and never won a real playoff game
03:19that tells you that they got no chance
03:26first four plays down the field big return
03:32big deuce daily run
03:36just 52 seconds into this game
03:39i know half of the philadelphia area signed the eagles theme song fly eagles fly and said this is going
03:45to be the happiest day of our lives
03:53really in hindsight we should have known better
03:56well the eagles were in trouble
03:57the buccaneers spent the rest of the game giving the eagles a wedgie
04:04and then you had the interception to ron day barber for the 92 yard touchdown return that was the nail
04:08in the coffee
04:10and with that ends the dream for this season
04:14this is how i watched that play
04:16i couldn't believe it
04:18it was so awful to watch
04:20and then i forever hated the barbers
04:22both of them
04:27we know that was devastating because
04:30it was the only time that the eagles home crowd did not boo them coming off the field after a
04:36playoff defeat
04:37the only sound was these muffled steps as thousands of people just walked out of the vet for the last
04:43time
04:43if you walk the streets of philly and you ask them should it be number 10 they're gonna be like
04:48no it should definitely be the number one most devastating loss in nfl history
04:53coming up
04:56sorry titans
04:57how did super bowl 34 not make the list
05:00like in super bowl 34 you didn't quite reach the promised land
05:04that was heart breaking man
05:07the info was right here
05:09and the ball was right here
05:12it's one of the great tackles of all time
05:14true but it's one of the most controversial call time that makes our list
05:21the number nine most devastating loss of all time
05:24the tuck rule game
05:26i see
05:27there's not a lot of games that you can just say
05:29one thing and everybody knows what it is
05:32you don't even need to say tuck rule
05:34you just say tuck
05:36everyone knows the name
05:37but does anyone really know what the tuck rule is
05:41the tuck rule is
05:43if you
05:44if you're in the
05:47if you're in the if you're in the if you're in the
05:49the tuck rule
05:51is
05:53is this a tuck
05:54is this a tuck
05:56it's a justin tuck
05:57to explain that you'd probably be better off going to someone else
06:00if you're throwing and pulling it in
06:02it's being tucked it's not a fumble
06:04i think it's called the tuck rule for everyone except raiders fans
06:07they changed one of the letters
06:12and so here is this this cinderella patriots team
06:15snow was coming down
06:17it was this winter wonderland of football
06:19snow angels and all that
06:21the tuck rule was the biggest bit of nonsense i think we've ever seen
06:32it was an outrage
06:34it was clearly a fumble
06:35any grown person with the gift of sight knows it was a fumble
06:39look at tom brady's body language after the fumble
06:43tom brady believes there is zero point zero zero percent chance that he can win this game
06:49i don't even know if giselle and tom brady were together at the time
06:51even she knew he fumbled
06:53raiders fans get mad at me
06:54but it probably was the correct call
06:58look of course we're biased
07:00that it was a forward pass
07:02it was the correct call
07:03but it was a stupid rule
07:06it looked like his arm was going forward
07:09it looked like a fumble
07:10felt like a fumble
07:12then all of a sudden
07:13there's this exclamation
07:15quarterback's arm
07:16is going forward
07:17it is a
07:18all right
07:19patriots retain the ball
07:21the game was over
07:22it's done
07:24raiders getting ready to move on
07:26the crowd will touch whether he makes it or not
07:28snap
07:28ball down
07:29kick is up
07:30the patriots
07:31oh yeah
07:32the patriots win
07:34the patriots win an overtime
07:3716 to 13
07:41the tuck rule
07:42when you lose but they make a rule so you can win
07:45it's like the 2000 presidential election
07:47this should be one of the top five
07:48devastating
07:49the patriots dynasty was born
07:52the night that a possible dynasty for the oakland raiders
07:55could have been born
07:56without that
07:59gruden might stay in oakland
08:00i'm so proud of you guys
08:02i'm so happy for you
08:03let's all start a championship
08:05raiders
08:06raiders
08:07maybe they go to the super bowl that year
08:09maybe they go back the next year with gruden
08:12i think the tuck rule game was more than just a devastating loss
08:14it was one of the most significant turning points in nfl history
08:18and oakland went this way
08:21and new england went this way
08:23and for oakland that just sucks
08:25sorry raiders fans sometimes it happens
08:28the number eight most devastating losses of all time
08:31farve's title game picks
08:35brett farve has so many incredible things to be known for
08:38so many touchdown passes
08:40there it is our all-time winning touchdown passer
08:43so many game-winning drives
08:45got a man out for over two
08:46yeah
08:46yeah
08:47yeah
08:48yeah
08:48and a dagger
08:49so many terrible
08:51head-scratching interceptions at the worst time
08:55flash and unloads
08:56here's five
08:56interceptions in the
08:58where was he throwing that
09:00except to Aeneas Williams
09:02six interceptions in that game
09:04he's lucky social media wasn't around
09:08yes
09:09three interceptions
09:09touchdown
09:09touchdown
09:10brett farve interception
09:11who knew
09:13clear tied at 17
09:15play and talk it's interception
09:17farve
09:19farve
09:21farve
09:22after struggling in the mid-2000s
09:24farve led the packers on one final title push in 2007
09:29welcome to lambeau field in green bay for the nfc championship game
09:34yeah this is the weather
09:35brett farve is here
09:36oh yeah
09:37i'm so tired of hearing that
09:39brett farve had an undefeated record in sub 40 degree weather for most of his career
09:44but with that is just this sinking feeling that as he's getting older it looks like the cold is way
09:51colder for him
09:52but farve came out with a hot hand
09:55touchdown
09:56down
10:00while the giants seem to freeze in the arctic conditions of lambeau field
10:06kick line drive to the upwind
10:07no good
10:08overtime in the nfc championship
10:13it's farve time
10:14here comes brett
10:16it was all set up for brett farve versus tom brady
10:18and corey webster got in the way
10:20farve back to pass
10:22looking for the strike
10:23the catch intercepted by the dice
10:24at the 40 yard line
10:26corey webster
10:27an already impossibly cold day
10:30turned 30 degrees colder
10:32that was it for farve as a packer
10:34it's amazing to think
10:37if you look it up in the football dictionary
10:40the verb to farve means
10:42to throw a soul crushing interception
10:45in the nfc championship
10:48one interception in an nfc championship is crushing
10:51but do it twice for two different franchises
10:54and your trail of devastation is top 10 worthy
10:57what team is more tortured by late season heartbreaks than the poor minnesota vikings
11:04well here with a packers quarterback
11:07they're going to make this all right
11:12they had the saints beat at the superdome
11:14games tied at 28 fine
11:16because brett farve is the quarterback of the minnesota vikings
11:20this was it
11:21this book was written
11:22this is how he was going to go out on top
11:23and then that moment
11:26farve has all sorts of time
11:28throws it
11:28and it's an interception
11:30that interception when he was a viking was ugly
11:32that might be his worst interception that didn't involve a text
11:35i can't believe what i'm seeing right now
11:37i mean you can take a knee
11:39and try a 56 yard field goal
11:41the most memorable thing about that loss
11:43was paul allen
11:44the play-by-play guy for the vikings
11:46his call
11:46it's not detroit man
11:48this is the superbowl
11:49that's perfect paul allen
11:51and that's perfect for vikings football
11:52it's a tortured franchise
11:57maybe that is justice
11:58being delivered by the football gods by the way
12:00maybe the vikings fans didn't deserve
12:03to see that team go to a superbowl
12:05with number four
12:06who tormented them
12:08for so many years
12:09it wasn't right from the get-go
12:12imagine what brett farve's career would be
12:14if he hadn't won a superbowl
12:16early in his career
12:17this would easily be number one on your list
12:19if farve had never won a superbowl
12:23he got one
12:24he got one
12:25all it takes is one
12:27the number seven most devastating loss of all time
12:30the music city miracle
12:33to me the music city miracle has to be the worst gut punch
12:36possibly in the history of the nfl
12:37that's a bad way to lose to
12:39that was the one where
12:41there's just no way
12:42and then something just stupid happens
12:45do the titans have a miracle left in them
12:48in what has been a magical season to this point
12:51if they do they need it now
12:53christy kicks it high and short
12:57the music city miracle is highlighted by one of the worst coaching decisions in nfl history
13:03thank you
13:05and they left too much time on the clock
13:07they started rob johnson
13:08and they left too much time on the clock
13:10they should never
13:12they
13:12they deserve to lose like that
13:14even if it was a forward pass
13:16because
13:16they did not deserve to be rewarded
13:19for that terrible decision
13:22rob johnson did not deserve a playoff win
13:24with flutie on the bench
13:28this is the decision to sit doug flutie
13:31and instead play rob the cuban sack
13:35that was a crime
13:36because doug flutie was the best guy to lead that football team
13:41so they were about to validate whatever crazy decision
13:45that had been made about the starting quarterback
13:47the game is on the line
13:49we're waiting for the snap
13:52the put down
13:53the kick on the way
13:54long enough
13:55and it is
13:56yes
14:01yes
14:01yes
14:02yes
14:03yes
14:03yes
14:03this is our house
14:04our house baby
14:05you gotta win on the road baby
14:08you gotta win on the road
14:09they kicked the field goal on third down with 20 seconds left
14:12almost everybody runs the clock down
14:14you run the clock down to three or four
14:18and then you kick it with no time remaining
14:21two seconds and that's the final play
14:23kicking the field goal on third down
14:25was a big mistake
14:28they call it home run throwback
14:31right play
14:32right time
14:33right situation
14:34gonna be fielded by lorenzo neal at the 25
14:37he hits you sit back to wide check
14:38he throws it across the field
14:40and i remember they had the play by play
14:42piped in
14:43he's got something
14:44he's got something
14:46he's got something
14:47he's got something
14:48he's got something
14:49he's got it
14:52he's got it
14:56and there were no flags
14:58there are no flags on the field
15:01to me that's one of the great things jeff fisher does
15:04he just has you prepared for crazy situations
15:07the titans practice did the last thing in every saturday walk through
15:12you know there's times in practice where we work on these little things and you i know some of you
15:16stand back there and say oh jeez what are they doing that for
15:21this play was watched and analyzed at nausea
15:25and it still lives on because of the controversy of it
15:28was it a lateral
15:29was it not a lateral
15:30there's no clear of it
15:31it's not a play that passes
15:33going forwards or backwards
15:35we're still debating this 15 or 20 years later
15:37it's a pretty miraculous play
15:39it's a miracle
15:42tennessee has pulled a miracle
15:44that game was only a miracle if you were a titans fan
15:46because all the bills fans i know call it
15:48it was a forward pass
15:51there may be a debate on whether or not it was a forward pass
15:54but there is no debating the impact it had on the bills franchise
15:58the bills have not been back to the playoff since
16:00that's the last playoff game the buffalo bills have ever been in
16:03oh and then they got a miracle in 2017 then they got some guy named josh allen joshua patrick allen
16:13and they've been to the playoffs a few times
16:18the number six most devastating boss of all time
16:21houston's show
16:38you don't play a better first half of offensive football than the oilers have just played
17:01yeah what a devastating loss this must have been for them
17:08because they lost jim kelly
17:11surely the bills lost this game
17:15pretty much turnabout on the bills right now
17:20everybody said the problem with the run and shoot is that you can't keep a lead because you won't stop
17:25passing the ball
17:26and you can't run out the clock
17:27warren moon just kept throwing it and throwing it and throwing it
17:30i don't think their offense was the big problem at all
17:35it was terrible coaching
17:37it was terrible playing
17:38strategy was awful
17:40not being ready for an onside kick
17:42and a little onside kick off
17:44let's see who got the ball
17:45yes sir
17:46they have the ball
17:47you better believe they do
17:48and guess who does it
17:49christy
17:50how are you not ready
17:51they did keep throwing
17:52more and more threw the ball 50 times
17:55and he had a good game
17:57he's just
17:58they let frank reich have a better game
18:02for an onside kick in that moment
18:04up 35 to 10
18:05that's the moment where you should be looking for an onside kick
18:08you look at some of these plays
18:09the closest defensive back was somewhere in syracuse
18:17god
18:18god wanted buffalo to win that wild card game
18:22it was sort of a hysterical
18:24pandemonium
18:25pandemonium
18:27it was a life force
18:29and you just felt it
18:30overwhelming
18:31the oilers
18:32you gotta believe
18:33if you're a bills fan
18:35you can overcome baby
18:36you can overcome this
18:38it's like that proverbial snowball rolling down a hill
18:41you just can't stop it
18:42he throws
18:43three touchdowns
18:47three from the touchdown
18:49unbelievable
18:50it was no longer a 32 point lead
18:52then once it got down to like two touchdowns
18:55you knew all bets were off
18:56but the bills were going to come back
18:57because the oilers couldn't get a stop
18:59touchdown
19:02103 for the touchdown
19:04and the bills are in the lead
19:06with 308 to play
19:08just get one stop
19:10one stop
19:14when you want to look for a signature
19:16bills moment
19:17from those super bowl years
19:18that is the moment
19:22but on the other hand
19:24you have to think
19:25about the houston oilers
19:27and the choke job
19:28that happened
19:33that is still
19:34the biggest choke in nfl history
19:37bills can win it here
19:38right puts it down
19:40the kick is on the way
19:41and it is good
19:42and the bills have won it
19:44the bills have won it
19:45they win it
19:4641 to 38
19:48they come back from a 32 point deficit
19:50the oilers gave up 35 unanswered points
19:55and had to kick a field goal
19:56just to tie a game
19:58they had been leading by more than 30
20:00at one point
20:01terrible
20:03and the houston oilers
20:04end up moving to nashville
20:06now that's devastating
20:08there's nothing left after that game
20:10to have that happen
20:11in the playoffs
20:12with the huge lead they had
20:14makes it
20:15the most devastating loss
20:17in nfl history
20:18they choked
20:20still to come
20:21the number five most devastating
20:23and now
20:25the number five most devastating loss of all time
20:28super bowl 49
20:31oh my god
20:32oh my god
20:33why did you
20:34put me in this position right now
20:36to think about that again
20:38the grandest stage in american sport
20:41is set
20:42super bowl 49 is here
20:44might be the greatest super bowl
20:46what would you want that wasn't in that game
20:48we're watching a storm
20:49yes super bowl 49 lived up to all the hype
20:53well let's cut to the chase
20:54this game takes the number five spot on our list
20:57because of a wild final two minutes
20:59which started with a play that nearly led to a very different devastating outcome
21:08oh my god
21:10hey man you don't you don't know
21:12oh that catch that nobody talks about that catch
21:25look at how many times it bounced off a body part
21:30it was like
21:30knee
21:31head
21:32and then ankle
21:34it bounced off his liver maybe
21:36a remarkable grab
21:38by jermaine kurz
21:40oh my goodness
21:40what are patriots fans
21:42going to do
21:43after this game
21:44when it really sinks in
21:45man
21:51that one word comes to mind
21:52what
21:54what
21:54it's going to be impossible to separate
21:56the greatness of the game from
21:58the inexplicable
22:00way that it ended
22:02second down and goal from the one
22:04after the four yard run
22:05by marshawn lynch
22:07give it to him again
22:07give it to him again
22:09give it to him again
22:10here in new england
22:11how do you play this
22:13lynch in the back
22:14russell looks
22:15throws inside
22:17what
22:18how do you not
22:20run the ball with beast
22:21oh my god
22:23oh my god
22:2820 seconds left
22:32oh yes carol
22:34yes
22:34it's your fault
22:36is that the worst call ever
22:38yeah
22:39yeah
22:39you have marshawn lynch
22:40you have beast mode
22:41why do you have to run the ball
22:42with marshawn lynch
22:43i know statistically
22:44he hadn't done great
22:45in those situations
22:46but he was hopped up on skittles
22:47totally
22:47like a fourth grader
22:49after the broken at a party
22:50why don't you give the ball
22:53to beast mode
22:54you got beast mode
22:56man
22:56oh
22:58what an unbelievable
22:59turn of events
23:03i blame marshawn lynch
23:05for them not running
23:06maybe if he would have
23:07spoken up
23:07and said something
23:09that week
23:09what's going through
23:10marshawn's mind
23:12when
23:12what could have been
23:13the greatest moment
23:14in his career
23:15and he did not
23:16get the call
23:17to get the ball
23:17is
23:19WTF
23:21what the
23:22football
23:23you kids know
23:24what that really meant
23:36that has to be higher
23:37it absolutely has to be
23:38in the top two
23:39you could put it
23:40at number five
23:41but you could probably
23:42put it at number one
23:43because you are
23:44two feet from confetti
23:46that just had to crush them
23:47because back-to-back
23:48super bowl wins
23:49that really cements you
23:50in a word
23:51i feel like
23:52the seahawks
23:53were just deflated
23:55yeah i mean
23:56if we can use that
23:57terminology
23:58can you say that
23:58man
23:59oh
24:00why
24:02why
24:04the number four
24:05most devastating loss
24:06of all time
24:07super bowl 43
24:09you can see it
24:10the cardinals were
24:11the sad sack
24:12the sad sack
24:13franchises
24:14kind of this
24:14vagabond outfit
24:15that had never really
24:16gotten its footing
24:17and never really
24:18reached its potential
24:19that's why i've got
24:19a problem with this
24:20being that high
24:21on the list
24:21because
24:22they've always been
24:23such a vagabond
24:24franchise
24:24that how do you
24:26really feel
24:27terribly for
24:29cardinals fans
24:30if there are
24:31alleged diehard
24:33cardinals fans
24:34i want to see them
24:35we grew up stable
24:37as cardinals fans
24:37for years
24:39the cardinals and
24:39their fans were
24:40mired in mediocrity
24:42but in 2008
24:43things changed
24:45Arizona
24:46as a true
24:47home field band
24:49tennis off
24:50they had just been
24:50on an amazing ride
24:52as one of the worst
24:53teams to ever make
24:54the postseason
24:55and then to go on
24:56an unbelievable
24:57playoff run
24:58you got hot
24:59you had warner
25:00you had larry fitzgerald
25:01and you had a team
25:02that had earned
25:03its way there
25:04super bowl 43
25:07here we come
25:08and they had every
25:09right to think
25:09they could win that
25:10game
25:12we knew deep down
25:14in our hearts
25:14that they would lose
25:15first to go
25:16with the two
25:17spieler show blitz
25:18he throws the pass
25:19up
25:19it's gonna be
25:20picked up
25:21james harrison
25:22he's running
25:22up the sideline
25:25i don't know
25:26what kurt warner
25:27especially being
25:28a big game player
25:29like he was
25:30was thinking
25:31with that one
25:32if he spikes
25:34the ball
25:34into the ground
25:35they kick
25:36a field goal
25:37they win that game
25:4125-30
25:4235-40
25:43still on his feet
25:44at the 45
25:45and down
25:46no he's still on his feet
25:47here it comes
25:48Harrison
25:48jumping over
25:49to the 20
25:50the 15
25:51the 10
25:51the 5
25:52and then
25:53it's a touchdown
25:53for a pick
25:54the play
25:55james harrison made
25:56at the end of the first half
25:58was just
25:59tremendous
26:00a 14 point swing
26:01at the end of the half
26:02when the cardinals
26:03could have been in charge
26:03of the game
26:04same old cardinals
26:05same old cardinals
26:10and with all of that
26:11there's kurt warner
26:12throwing the ball
26:13to larry fitzgerald
26:14over the middle
26:15and you're going
26:16oh my god
26:17they're gonna win
26:18this game
26:18you had
26:19one of the most
26:20amazing
26:21memorable plays
26:22in super bowl
26:23history
26:34larry fitzgerald
26:35scored that touchdown
26:36with two and a half minutes
26:37and risen hunt
26:38having coached
26:39Ben Roethlisberger
26:40in his mind
26:41he thought
26:42we might have scored
26:43too early
26:44yep
26:45and they have
26:46a long field
26:48to drive
26:49and then to give up
26:50a drive
26:50and give up
26:51really what was
26:52a perfect pass
26:53from Ben Roethlisberger
26:54to lose it
26:55that was a great throw
26:57and a great catch
26:58to be that close
26:59how do you do that
27:00in triple coverage
27:02you have triple coverage
27:03how do you do that
27:05how do you let that pass happen
27:07and to lose on that play
27:09how many times do teams
27:11have a game winning drive
27:12when it starts
27:14with a holding call
27:15that puts you back
27:15at your own
27:1612
27:1610
27:23when you win super bowls
27:24man that changed your life
27:26don't nobody talk about to lose
27:27so man I come this close to lose
27:29cut me off in the championship game
27:31because I don't even want to make it to the super bowl
27:33if I know I'm going to lose
27:34to lose in the way that they lost
27:36as a franchise
27:36when you know you're only going to get
27:38maybe one or two chances
27:39to ever be that close to the super bowl
27:41that's brutal
27:41I mean I'm sure we'll see him
27:43in the super bowl
27:44like 2070
27:45or something like that
27:46because they get there
27:47once every 50 years
27:48once every 45 years
27:49so pencil them in
27:50for like
27:51super bowl 90
27:53he'll be in there
27:56people talk about
27:57it always can't be a devastating loss
27:59as a Cardinal
28:01Ike Taylor was on the
28:02he was on that field
28:04he was on the Steelers
28:05he got his ring
28:07if he feels bad for the Cardinals
28:09and he won the game
28:10why should anybody else
28:12not feel bad
28:13maybe worse than wide left
28:16not right
28:18right
28:20the number three most devastating loss of all time
28:23wide right
28:24hey that's one
28:25that's a super bowl
28:27deciding kick
28:29that's one
28:29that's one
28:32eight seconds to play
28:34the super bowl will ride
28:36on the right court of Norwood
28:37they create championship gear
28:40for both teams
28:41where does all that championship gear go
28:43down to third world countries
28:44so there are huge
28:45like villages
28:46and swaths of honduras
28:48that think the buffalo bills
28:49was a dynasty
28:50greatest team in the 90s
28:51they won four super bowls
28:52four baby
28:53how sweet it is
28:55Scott Norwood is a hero
28:57in central america
28:58the bills have won a super bowl
29:00pure fantasy
29:02the reality is devastating
29:09the bills in super bowl 25
29:11one of the best teams in history
29:13think of all the hall of famers on that team
29:15Andre Reid
29:17Jim Kelly
29:17Thurman Thomas
29:18Bruce Smith
29:18James Lofton
29:19it was a great bills team
29:21it was the best of all their super bowl teams
29:23here we go
29:24the super bowl is underway
29:26I went back once and watched that game
29:28and again
29:29maybe I'm negative
29:30it was worse than I imagined
29:32Jim Kelly brings on his offense
29:34and the K-Gun will go to work
29:36the no huddle offense
29:37the K-Gun really expected to walk in there
29:40can handle Jeff Hosteller's Giants
29:45it came down to a missed field goal
29:47on the final play
29:47but they had too many other chances
29:49to do what they needed to do to win
29:51second down
29:52they're up
29:53early on
29:55Bruce Smith
29:55sacks Jeff Hosteller
29:57in the end zone
29:58somehow
29:58Jeff Hosteller
29:59does not fumble the ball
30:01and it only goes for a safety
30:02this gives the bills
30:03two more points now
30:04they lead 12-3
30:05that's a touchdown
30:06game over
30:09that's
30:09look
30:10it
30:11I don't know why
30:13Bruce Smith
30:13insisted on getting a wrap up
30:15yeah
30:15I know he's a sack master
30:18he really could've just
30:20taking the ball
30:21it's not like Jeff Hosteller
30:23could out wrestle him
30:24with the ball
30:27it's 275
30:33it was Parcells' masterpiece
30:36run it with OJ Anderson
30:37let's just own the clock
30:39the bills have not had the ball
30:41in the second hand
30:42so this offense
30:43this K-Gun offense
30:44which is so up-tempo
30:45can't beat us
30:47OJ's touchdown
30:48with all of that
30:50the bills were in position
30:51to win that game
30:53and it would've changed history
30:56Scott Norwood
30:57a very accurate kicker
30:58through the years
30:59but not a lot of range
31:00Scott Norwood
31:01had never kicked
31:02a 47-yard field goal
31:04on grass
31:05in his entire career
31:07there was a holding penalty
31:08right before
31:09the kick
31:10and nobody ever remembers that
31:11take away that penalty
31:13and it's a very makeable
31:14field goal
31:17right
31:18pushed it down
31:19on the way
31:20it's long enough
31:21no good
31:23wide right
31:24wide right
31:26entered
31:27the sports lexicon
31:29and will never leave
31:30culturally
31:31he became the guy
31:32that's synonymous
31:33with failure
31:34and you look at
31:35movies like
31:35Ace Ventura
31:36Ray Finkel
31:37with Scott Norwood
31:37it's sad to say
31:38but he had the perfect face
31:39for failure
31:42it was a heartbreaking way
31:44to lose it
31:44one
31:45number one
31:47why?
31:48it's the only Super Bowl
31:49where it was
31:50win or lose
31:51based on a last second kick
31:52and there no doubt
31:53there will be
31:54other Super Bowls
31:55in their future
31:56they were inches away
31:57from winning the Super Bowl
31:58and it basically
31:59led into
31:59four painful losses
32:01and this is a city
32:02that's never won anything
32:03in a major sports league
32:05that still exists
32:06you know
32:07it's a team effort
32:07and you can't believe
32:08anyone into the game
32:09I think Buffalo
32:10is a forgiving place
32:12and if Scott Norwood
32:14were to walk
32:15into a bar
32:15people would put
32:17their arm around him
32:17have a picture
32:18taken with him
32:19but as soon as he
32:20walked out the bar
32:21they'd be ripping him
32:23coming up
32:25number two
32:26most devastating
32:27losses of all time
32:28the drive
32:29and the fumble
32:32you know your city
32:33is in trouble
32:34when there
32:35is one
32:37devastating
32:38loss
32:38nickname
32:39this city
32:40has two
32:42if you're in Cleveland
32:43and you say
32:44the drive
32:44and the fumble
32:46it makes the fans
32:48want to throw up
32:50Clevelanders
32:50bear with us
32:51as we regurgitate
32:52the details
32:53of this
32:53one-two punch
32:54of devastation
32:55that rocked the city
32:57beginning with
32:58the 1986
32:59AFC championship
33:00game
33:00between the
33:01Broncos
33:02and Browns
33:03Brian Brennan
33:04waltzing into the
33:06end zone
33:06to give the Browns
33:08a touchdown lead
33:09the place is going
33:12absolutely crazy
33:16and then on top of that
33:18the Broncos have
33:19trouble with the kickoff
33:20you may have just seen
33:21the score that broke
33:22the Broncos back
33:23they have the Broncos
33:25back up to the
33:26two-yard line
33:27they're going
33:28and we have this
33:28one
33:28two
33:31well the fat lady
33:32hasn't sung yet
33:33but you can believe
33:34she's in the wings
33:35warming up the pipes
33:39every great athlete
33:40needs a moment
33:40that separates him
33:41from the rest
33:42and for John Elway
33:43that moment arrived
33:44with five minutes
33:45and 44 seconds
33:46remaining against the
33:47Broncos
33:48and John Elway
33:49who hasn't done
33:49much all day
33:50and he's covered
33:51in mud from his
33:52shoulder
33:53all the way down
33:54to his white pants
33:58right down the field
34:00I mean it was
34:00phenomenal
34:01it's a Denver
34:02first down
34:02and a gain of 20
34:03and then
34:04the look
34:06the throw
34:07boom Jackson
34:07touchdown
34:08wow
34:09they don't score
34:10they don't score
34:12and remember
34:13the Browns have a chance
34:14to win this in overtime
34:14and can't do that either
34:16the field goal
34:17Carlos' kick
34:19that was missed
34:19the missed field goal
34:20and it is gone
34:22that didn't make it
34:23that shouldn't have won the game
34:24the Denver Broncos
34:26win it in overtime
34:27next thing you know
34:29you start hearing it
34:29from the sports writers
34:31the drive
34:34so the Browns
34:35are going to get revenge
34:36there's going to be
34:37vindication
34:38this time
34:40they think it's their turn
34:41oh yeah Denver
34:42remember that drive
34:43last year
34:43stick it
34:45actually
34:46the Browns
34:47were stuck
34:48in a 21-3
34:49halftime deficit
34:51before they came
34:52rushing back
34:54Ernest Beiner
34:55single-handedly
34:56made it possible
34:57for us to win
34:57Beiner finished
34:58the 87 AFC
35:00championship game
35:01with 187 total yards
35:03and two touchdowns
35:04stop
35:05Beiner's second score
35:06of this third quarter
35:07but if that's all
35:08he did
35:09the Browns
35:09might not be
35:10number two
35:11on our list
35:12the drive was
35:12John Elway
35:13and the fumble
35:14was Ernest Beiner
35:1738-31 Denver
35:19draw to Beiner
35:20I remember standing
35:22behind that end zone
35:23and it just looked like
35:25oh no
35:26this is going to happen
35:27again
35:28you don't really see
35:29the fumble
35:29because of the
35:30mass of bodies
35:31you just hear
35:31Dick Enberg
35:32say
35:33rumble the ball
35:34and Denver
35:35has recovered
35:36oh my
35:37tearing the heart
35:38out of Cleveland
35:39everybody blames
35:41Ernest Beiner
35:42for the
35:44Webster Slaughter
35:45just stood there
35:46and watched the play
35:48instead of blocking
35:48like he was supposed
35:49supposed to
35:52if he
35:53has an aneurysm
35:55and falls to his side
35:58and he's in
35:59Jeremiah Castile's way
36:03Beiner walks
36:04into the end zone
36:05much less if he actually
36:07decided to block
36:08which was his job
36:13and then
36:14and then he was
36:15lollygagging
36:16instead of picking up
36:17the fumble
36:17for a touchdown
36:18so I'm a Browns fan
36:20oh my god
36:22how'd my life
36:23how much pain
36:24could you have
36:25at that point
36:26you might as well
36:27just disband the team
36:29that's exactly what
36:30happened a few years
36:31later
36:31with the first
36:32incarnation of Browns
36:34you can say
36:34that's what led
36:36to the Baltimore Ravens
36:38I know you can't
36:39project a couple
36:40of wins in a game
36:40to stadium referendums
36:42but at the same time
36:43you waste a couple
36:44of Super Bowl flags
36:45you think that team
36:46really leaves
36:48I think it's probably
36:50a good idea
36:51that you guys combine
36:52two miserable moments
36:54in Brown's history
36:54because you know
36:55it really does all
36:57just become one
36:58like blizzard
36:59headed toward the
37:00wing of disaster
37:02touchdown
37:04to be on the doorstep
37:05in that short amount
37:06of time
37:07the same opponent
37:08the same circumstance
37:09the heartbreak
37:10so real and raw
37:11you know
37:11the only solace
37:12I would say
37:13is that
37:13for fans
37:14of hot tub
37:15time machine
37:16there's always hope
37:18if you go back
37:19and replay history

37:27the most

37:5142
37:52I don't even think
37:53anything else
37:54even comes close
37:55and that is it
37:56the New York Giants
37:57have knocked off
37:58the New England Patriots
37:59with the most
38:00improbable win

38:02get this
38:04Patriots fan
38:05bootlicking
38:06butt kissing

38:20I think it is
38:21worthy of being
38:22number one
38:22that's number one
38:23what could ever
38:24be more devastating
38:25than seeing the
38:26perfect season
38:27slip three fingers
38:28boo hoo
38:29the Patriots
38:30lost the Super Bowl
38:32nothing compares to it
38:33maybe the greatest
38:34team of all time
38:34greatest
38:35offense of all time
38:36greatest
38:36coach of all time
38:37greatest
38:37quarterback of all time
38:38maybe the most talented
38:39receiver of all time
38:40for Randy Moss
38:41touchdown reception
38:42number 23
38:43for Tom Brady
38:44touchdown pass
38:45number 50
38:46that one has to be
38:47as bad as it gets
38:48in the old
38:499 out of 10 times
38:50Patriots win
38:51well on that day
38:52they didn't
38:55it was 14 to 10
38:57they would have won it
38:58if they could have
38:58just stopped
38:59a third and five
38:59miracle
39:00a pouch pounding
39:01finish to Super Bowl
39:0242
39:03direct snap to Manny
39:04back to throw

39:11downfield
39:12and it is
39:13hot
39:14hot
39:14how the heck
39:16did that ball
39:17stick in his hand
39:18in that helmet
39:19and did he come down
39:20with it
39:23you can run
39:25fruit by the foot
39:26for the next 50 years
39:27on your helmet
39:28and it still wouldn't
39:29be sticky enough
39:30to keep that ball
39:31in place
39:31we're talking about
39:32a guy
39:33who
39:34came out of nowhere
39:35to make the most
39:36unbelievable catch
39:38in Super Bowl
39:39history
39:42has to be the greatest
39:43catch ever
39:43you have to consider
39:44the stakes
39:45a minute to go
39:46in the Super Bowl
39:47down by four
39:48third and five
39:49no matter where he goes
39:50for the rest of his life
39:51he's gonna be the guy
39:53who super blew
39:54to a ball
39:55and won a Super Bowl
39:56for a guy to pull off
39:57a catch like that
39:58you can't hate
39:59in a guy like that
40:02it's the most painful
40:0413 of those players
40:05already had rings
40:0710 of them
40:08had multiple
40:108
40:11they had 8 starters
40:12in defense
40:13who already had
40:13championships
40:16it doesn't
40:17it doesn't hurt
40:17as bad
40:18as you've already
40:18won something
40:21this doesn't
40:22have to be
40:22on the list
40:22that a dynasty
40:23lost one game
40:25lost one Super Bowl
40:32a loss
40:33in NFL history
40:34there's no doubt
40:35about it
40:36to be that close
40:37to immortality
40:38that's hard to swallow
40:40when you talk about
40:41immortality
40:42and perfection
40:42how many people
40:44even get a chance
40:45to be in that position
40:46the New York Giants
40:47have knocked off
40:48the New England Patriots
40:4917-14
40:51the Patriots
40:52will not be perfect
40:53man
40:54that's gotta be bad
40:55this was gonna be
40:5619-0
40:57how do you ever
40:57forget how close
40:58you were
40:59to being
41:00that historic
41:01of a team
41:01it's as if
41:02the Don Shule
41:03and the 72 Dolphins
41:05just had that
41:06Patriots voodoo doll
41:07and they stuck it
41:08one last time
41:08Perfectville
41:09remains a town
41:11with one person
41:12in it
41:12the Miami Dolphins
41:14that's as devastating
41:15as it gets
41:15devastating capital
41:16I hate this
41:17as number one
41:18this is not a
41:19devastating loss
41:19for the Patriots
41:20this is a glorious
41:21victory
41:22for the New York Giants
41:23not every great win
41:25for one team
41:25is a big loss
41:26for another team
41:27especially when
41:28the other team
41:28is just so squilled
41:30with success
41:31that you almost
41:33want to see them
41:34lose a little bit
41:34so they know
41:34how it feels
41:36Perfect
41:36Drop the mic
41:41Exactly what I'm saying
41:43what are you
41:44like what are we
41:45doing here
41:45they ruined the list
41:47with that
41:48the list was great
