Transcript
00:10Iran has denounced before the international community the crimes against humanity that
00:14have been committed by the United States and Israel since February 28th.
00:21In Ecuador police is 1.5 tons of cocaine at the port of Guayaquil arresting seven people on the
00:28spot. Thousands of Catholics across the world celebrate Easter Sunday with ancient rituals
00:37and family gatherings. Hello and welcome to From the South. My name is Pablo Micheliche
00:47from the Telesur Studios in Caracas, Venezuela. We begin with the news. Stay with us.
01:09Iran has denounced before the international community the crimes against humanity that
01:14have been committed by the United States and Israel since February 28th. The Iranian Minister
01:20of Foreign Affairs Abak Sarakshi stated that the international community must take note of
01:26the crimes against humanity committed since February 28th that have caused the death of
01:31thousands of civilians. Abakshi noted that some countries have focused their discourse solely
01:36on the economic repercussions of the conflict while overlooking violations of international
01:42law. The official also pointed out that the Strait of Hormuz was closed as a defensive measure
01:49to prevent enemy forces from using this strategic point in their attacks against Iran.
01:59On this Sunday, Iran launched the 96th wave of missiles targeting an energy structure belonging
02:05to the United States and its allies in the Middle East as part of the True Promise Fourth Operation.
02:10The Revolutionary Guard of Iran stated that they had attacked the enemy's economic interests,
02:16including a heavy attack on the fuel refinery in Haifa and an attack on gas installations belonging
02:22to the U.S. companies ExxonMobil and Chevron in Hapsham in the United Arab Emirates. The Guard also
02:29announced missile attacks on U.S. fuel produced in petrochemical companies causing extensive fires in
02:35the UAE and a heavy drone attack on U.S. petrochemical companies responsible for supplying petroleum products
02:43to the U.S. army. Furthermore, petrochemical installations were attacked causing a huge fire
02:49and the complete shutdown of the complex in Al-Shaiba, Kuwait. Tehran advised that this is only the first phase
02:57of the response to the attacks and if they continue, it will be more destructive and extensive and the losses
03:03will increase.
03:10On Saturday, U.S. President Donald Trump issued an ultimatum to Iran to open the Strait of Hormuz.
03:16A U.S. president threatened to attack power plants and bridges in Iran if the Strait of Hormuz is not
03:21fully open to traffic. Trump said Iran will have 48 hours to either reach an agreement or to open the
03:28Strait. Otherwise, the Islamic Republic will suffer the consequences. The Zani's escalation in Iran has
03:34been relentless since February 28th, targeting civilian and military infrastructure among others
03:40and causing severe damage and resulting in hundreds of civilians injured and killed.
03:51Israeli police carried out at least 17 arrests during the repression on a protest held in Tel Aviv,
03:57where dozens of demonstrators expressed their rejection of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu
04:02and his wars in the Middle East. The repression occurred just hours after Israel's Supreme Court
04:08issued an interim order restricting authorities from dispersing gatherings of power than 600, fewer
04:15people in Tel Aviv, Habima Square and 150 northern cities including Jerusalem, Haifa and Kafarsaba.
04:22Despite the court order, police declared the protests illegal, claiming the number of participants exceeded
04:28the limit while activists at the protests accused police of disproportionate force.
04:39Humanitarian organizations warned that the conflict in the Middle East is hindering the delivery of food
04:44and medicines to millions of people. The organizations emphasize that the conflict has disrupted
04:49better maritime routes, creating a global energy crisis and disrupting supply chains,
04:54forcing them to use more expensive and time-consuming routes. The World Food Programme reports thousands
05:00of tons of food delayed while medical supplies remain stranded. According to the United Nations,
05:07this is the most significant disruption to the supply chain since COVID-19, with up to a 20%
05:13increase in shipping costs and delays.
05:27And
05:45Experts warn that the Palestinian economy is in crisis due to the Israeli occupation and the conflict in the region.
05:52According to experts, the economic crisis in Palestine is driven by moments, movements, restrictions, bouquets and ongoing tensions from Israeli
06:02attacks, which limits access to markets, resources and job opportunities.
06:07In this sense, experts report that the closure of 52% of businesses in the Northern West Bank has resulted
06:13in the loss of a lift to 100,000 jobs across the occupied territories.
06:18Analysts also criticized the Benjamin Netanyahu government's decision to withhold taxes it collects on behalf of the Palestinian national authority,
06:27a move that has fueled this latest financial crisis.
06:37The intensification of the humanitarian blockade imposed by Israel on the Castro Strip has prevented more than 5,000 trucks
06:43loaded with food and medical supplies from entering the area.
06:47According to Palestinian health authorities, the blockade threatens to trigger a major health crisis in the Strip.
06:53Palestinian health minister Majed Abu Pramadan warned of the spread of diseases such as antivirus, leptospirosis, salmonella and tularemia, linked
07:04to environmental degradation and poor conditions in the refugee camps.
07:08The minister also emphasized that the population is facing the consequences of military attacks and genocide, with many children having
07:15lost limbs or sensory abilities during the conflict, making them the most vulnerable in the crisis.
07:28And now we have a show break coming up.

07:52Welcome back.
07:54While the Western is a large wage award against the Muslim war, an attempt to straighten up religious countries around
08:00the globe, Russia is a multicultural and multireligious country.
08:04It stands as an example of peaceful coexistence and social and patriotic cohesion.
08:09Our correspondent in Moscow, Leigh Yasinski, with this story.
08:14With over 20 million believers and a thousand years of history, the various Islamic communities in Russia constitute one of
08:21the most important foundations of its society and its stability.
08:25Spiritual authorities condemn the West's attempt to use religious solidarity as a tool of pressure to advance its geopolitical interests
08:34and refuse to participate in conflicts unrelated to the national interests.
08:40We, who live here in Russia, so we are different, of different nationalities, of different religions, are children of the
08:47same land, Russia, and we live in the same world, where we are concerned by the same problems, the same
08:53issues, and we share the same choices.
08:57Russian Muslims' leaders support the Kremlin's position both nationally and internationally.
09:02In early 2026, Islamic organizations expressed solidarity with Iran and condemned the aggression by the United States and Israel.
09:10There is no room for religious divisions when it comes to defending national sovereignty and the multipolar order.
09:1940% of the U.S. and Israeli sionists who, according to the United Nations, account for 0.2%
09:26of the wolf population and multitudes, and it makes clear that those who possess wealth live by the law of
09:31the jungle.
09:32They impose their will.
09:33They do not recognize the boundaries of their states, because what they need, they attain to fire, the sword, and
09:39destruction.
09:39This is a shameful policy.
09:44An Afi, Shafi, and Sufi traditions have for centuries shaped modern reform of Islam adapted to the Russian reality.
09:51The theological foundation, a solid bastion against extremism, enables Russian Muslims to form a religious identity and a civic loyalty
09:58to live together in peace.
10:02We face a challenge.
10:04This is an evil that is spreading through rules, driven by the ideology of Western satanism.
10:09We know how they have nurtured and give rise to Wahhabism and similar diabolical movements.
10:15It was specifically designed to divide Muslims from within, to weaken them from within, from within, from within.
10:23In the face of external campaigns of destabilization, the inter-religious unity in defense of traditional values and social peace
10:30sets an example for the whole world.
10:332026, the year of unity among peoples, strengthens this cooperation.
10:38In a divided world, Christians, Muslims, Buddhists, and Jews demonstrate that social cohesion is possible without renouncing traditions in order
10:47to build a sovereign nation.
10:50In other news, Russia has warned that the British government's attempts to seize vessels linked to Moscow would trigger retaliatory
10:57measures which are currently being prepared.
11:00A warning came from Russian ambassador to the United Kingdom, Andrei Kelley, who urged the British government to consider the
11:07consequences of its actions and the fate of illegally seized cargo.
11:12Kelley also said that ship owners will inevitably turn to international courts to demand payment of damages and related costs
11:20stemming from any seizures.
11:22It is important to highlight that London authorizes its military forces in March to board sanctioned vessels transiting British territorial
11:30waters.
11:31The measure also includes closing the English Channel passage to the so-called Shadow Fleet, which transport Russian oil and
11:38energy products to international markets.
11:56Russia neutralized a drone center and Ukrainian force deployment in Kherson province with heavy artillery.
12:03Using precision fire front, Russian artillery destroyed a strategic enclave of drone operators belonging to the Kiev army.
12:13The operation carried out in Kherson resulted in the complete elimination of a temporary deployment point, thus neutralizing the unmanned
12:21aerial response capability in the sector.
12:24This tactical strike is part of the ongoing escalation of hostilities that defines the current scenario of the Russian-Ukrainian
12:31conflict.
12:39In Morocco, the conference of African Minister of Finance, Planning and Economic Development, Com26, called for urgent action to share
12:48regional economies from growing external shocks.
12:51The conference highlighted how changes in shipping routes are intensifying traffic at alternative locations.
12:57African leaders stressed that the continent can no longer withstand external crises, where rising prices for fuel, food, and fertilizers
13:06hit their economies.
13:07In light of this, they urged accelerating the African continental free trade area and investing in technology to build a
13:15more resilient future.
13:26On Saturday, Colombian President Gustavo Petro took two eggs to condemn a list issued by the U.S. Treasury Department's
13:33Office of Foreign Access Control, OFAC, calling it a tool used to persecute and control political opposition worldwide.
13:40Petro was added to the so-called Clinton list in October 2023 after former President Donald Trump labelled him a
13:47drug trafficking leader and threatened serious actions against Colombia.
13:52Petro argues that the far-right fails to recognize that humanity's strength lies in its diversity and calls for democratic
14:01global governance as a necessary alternative.
14:03He also criticizes the overt list as ineffective against organized crime, explaining that crime bosses often debate justice by negotiating
14:12with the U.S., agreeing not to export cocaine to U.S. territory in exchange for protection, while continuing to
14:19expand their operations globally.
14:21Under these circumstances, Petro says extradition has become meaningless, as drug traffickers prefer to negotiate in Miami or New York
14:29rather than risk captured in Colombia.

15:12Welcome back.
15:13In Ecuador, police sees 1.5 tons of cocaine at the port of Guayaquil arresting seven people on the spot.
15:18According to a post on Expo the Saturday by Ecuador's Interior Minister John Reinberg, the drug was found distributed in
15:2618 packages inside a container in one of Guayaquil's port terminals.
15:31Six of the people arrested were inside the container and the seventh subject was caught upside.
15:36Flanked by Colombia and Peru, there were two largest cocaine producers with several ports on its coast, such as the
15:43ones in Guayaquil.
15:44And a dollarized economy, Ecuador has become in recent years and hot transit point for the trafficking of cocaine, mostly
15:53destined for Europe and North America.
16:00The United Nations Special Rapporteur to underrise the freedom of association and assembly, Gina Romero, expressed her concern about what
16:08she described as a democratic backsliding in Ecuador,
16:12marked by political persecution and reports of enforced disappearances of social leaders.
16:16Through posts on her social media profile, the Special Rapporteur wrote,
16:21We have also sent letters to Ecuador detailing the lack of protection and attacks against human rights defenders, among other
16:28human rights violations,
16:30including violations of economic, social, cultural and environmental rights, as well as those against indigenous and rural peoples.
16:38The democratic backsliding the country is experiencing is very worrying.
16:51Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva is focusing on the economic agenda to improve public perception.
16:58Six months ahead to the general elections, President Lula da Silva is seeking to improve revenue, access to credit and
17:05reduce costs by expanding subsidies and renegotiating debts.
17:09In the energy sector, Lula da Silva is considering increasing investments to curb rising prices, following strategies adopted by previous
17:17administrations.
17:18Reports indicate that such strategies could improve Lula's electoral performance in the upcoming elections.
17:30Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro sent a message of faith and hope to Venezuela and the world.
17:35Via his social media accounts, the President said,
17:38Beloved people of Venezuela, sisters and brothers of our homeland, peoples of the world.
17:43On this Easter Sunday, Celia and I wish to share a message of love, peace and hope.
17:49Holy Week reminds us of a very deep truth.
17:51There is no resurrection without passion.
17:54First comes the cross, the pain and the sacrifice, but then comes new life.
17:58Jesus says to Martha, your brother will rise again, John chapter 11, verse 23, and then he assures her,
18:07I am the resurrection and the life.
18:09Whoever believes in me, even if he dies, will live, John chapter 11, verses 25 and 26.
18:16That is our first point.
18:17The one who raised Lazarus also rose.
18:19The one who raises the dead has risen, and that is why hope is never lost.
18:24The leader continues, Martha responds to Jesus with a simple and firm faith,
18:28Yes, Lord, I believe that you are the Christ, Son of God, John chapter 11, verse 27.
18:34That is where it all begins.
18:36Believing then, Jesus said,
18:38Take away the stone, John chapter 11, verse 39.
18:41And later he cries out,
18:42Lazarus comes forth, John chapter 11, verse 43.
18:46The gospel also speaks to us today.
18:48It tells us that we must remove the storm of hatred, of lies, of division and of resentment.
18:55It calls us to step out of everything that keeps us trapped inside.
19:00And when the Lord says he is teaching us that resurrection also means healing,
19:04setting free, forgiving, reconnecting and walking together again.
19:08Finally, the Venezuelan president wrote,
19:10That is why this Easter Sunday is a time to declare with conviction that this is the victory of life
19:16and truth.
19:17Death does not prevail.
19:19Christ prevails.
19:20Lies does not prevail.
19:21Truth prevails.
19:22Hatred does not prevail.
19:23Love prevails.
19:24And that victory calls us to seek unity, dialogue, reconciliation and peace among all people.
19:29Furthermore, the rising Lord leaves us a beautiful and eternal promise.
19:33I am with you always, even to the end of the ages.
19:36Matthew chapter 28, verse 20.
19:40That is our third certainty until the end of time.
19:43Christ accompanies his people.
19:45May the rising Lord bless Venezuela and the peoples of the world
19:48and fills us with faith, love and hope.
20:01In this sense, the acting president of Venezuela, Delsi RodrĂguez, also sent a message to the Venezuelan people,
20:06wishing the nation peace and hope.
20:08Through her telegram account, the acting president expressed,
20:11On this Easter Sunday, I joined the Venezuelan people in celebrating the Son of God
20:16as a symbol of life, redemption and hope.
20:19It is a time for reflection and renewal of spirituality.
20:22And I hope that it will bring us together in lasting peace to guide us
20:26as we continue to move forward in national unity for Venezuela.
20:42Now, in the Vatican, pilgrims gather in St. Peter's Square for Easter Sunday Mass
20:47as Pope Leo XIV leads their celebration.
20:50This circle marks the most important day of Holy Week,
20:53symbolizing the resurrection of Jesus Christ
20:56and commemorating his message of salvation and unity for humanity.
20:59The event included the celebration of the Easter Mass
21:02and the Urbi et Orbi blessing granted only twice a year,
21:07which confers forgiveness for signs committed at the gathering held at the Vatican.
21:12The believers thank the Pope for the openness he has promoted within the Catholic Church,
21:18his efforts to reintegrate marginalized groups in Latin America into society
21:23and his messages of peace to the international community
21:26amid the armed conflicts facing the world.
21:36In South Korea Easter celebrations took place with a parade
21:40that brought together hundreds of citizens in Gwangwamun Square.
21:44The event transformed the city center into a stage for cultural exhibitions
21:48and parades featuring festive costumes that highlight the religious identity
21:52of the local Christian community.
21:53This festival is not only an act of spiritual faith,
21:57but also functions as a driver of social cohesion,
22:00promoting an atmosphere of brotherhood and shared joy among the presidents.
22:06Their festive ambience lasted throughout the day,
22:08highlighting the hospitable and multicultural character of South Korea's modern capital.
22:33Russia celebrates the 250th anniversary of the Bolshoi Theatre with a year-run activities.
22:40According to the iconic Cultural Institutions General Director, Valery Gergiev,
22:45the theatre decided not to limit itself to a single date and instead develop a program for the entire season.
22:51Gergiev also informed that the works of Russian composer, pianist, and conductor Sergei Profkyev
22:57will be presented on the Bolshoi stage and will significantly expand the bonus program.
23:03The Bolshoi Theatre began as a private establishment owned by the Provincial Prosecutor Prince Piotr Urysov
23:09on March 28, 1776.
23:13Express Press Catherine II granted Urysov the privilege of being the owner of all theatrical performances in Moscow
23:20for a period of 10 years.
23:22This date is considered the founding date of the Bolshoi Theatre.
23:32And like this, we have come to the end of this news brief.
