00:00Venezuela's state oil company PDVSA denounces a new cyber attack against its
00:15systems, assuring that its core operations remain unaffected.
00:19In Honduras, several incidents of unrest have been registered at the Electro-Logistics Center,
00:28where the special count was scheduled to begin, and Belarus and Iran evaluate the initiative
00:36for large-scale bilateral development projects.
00:41Hello, welcome to From the South, I'm Luis Alberto Matos from Dele Sur Studios in Havana,
00:49Cuba.
00:50I'm Luis Alberto Matos.
00:59Venezuela's state oil company PDVSA denounces a new cyber attack against its systems, assuring
01:09that its core operations remain unaffected.
01:11In an official communique, the company guaranteed its operational continuity, highlighting that
01:15thanks to the expertise of PDVSA's human talent, the operational areas were not affected in
01:20any way, with the attack being limited to its administrative system.
01:24PDVSA attributed the aggression to foreign interests, framing it as part of a strategy
01:28to undermine the nation's sovereign energy development, describing the incident as part
01:33of the U.S. government's public strategy to seize Venezuelan oil by force and piracy.
01:38In this context, the company recognized its workforce, whose expertise, said, was crucial
01:45in detecting and neutralizing the threat.
01:49The Venezuelan government reported on Monday that it has full knowledge of the involvement
01:56of the government of Trina and Tobago in the theft of Venezuelan oil committed by the U.S.
02:01administration on December 10th with the assault on a ship carrying this strategic product.
02:05Through an official statement, Caracas condemned the act of piracy constitutes a serious violation
02:11of international law and a clear transgression of the principles of free navigation on trade,
02:17stressing that the Prime Minister of Trina and Tobago, Kamla Persat-Bissasar, has revealed
02:21a hostile agenda against Venezuela since her arrival in government, including the installation
02:26of U.S. military radars to harass ships transporting Venezuelan oil, and adding she has turned the
02:32territory of Trinidad and Tobago into a U.S. aircraft carrier to attack Venezuela in an
02:37equivocal act of vassalage.
02:39In response to the escalation of facilities and serious segregation, Venezuelan President
02:43Nicolas Maduro proceeded at the time to denounce the Framework Agreement on Energy Cooperation
02:49signed with Trinidad and Tobago.
02:51Today, in light of this extremely serious act that seeks to blatantly steal Venezuela's
02:55oil, the Venezuelan government has decided to immediately terminate any contract, agreement,
03:00or negotiation for the supply of natural gas to that country.
03:04The official statement concludes by reaffirming that Venezuela demands respect and will not
03:07allow any colonial entity and its vassals to undermine the sacred sovereignty of the
03:12country and its right to development.
03:20The United Socialist Party of Venezuela supported President Nicolas Maduro's decision to cancel
03:25any contract or negotiations with Trinidad and Tobago due to their complicity in the theft
03:29of the Venezuelan oil tanker by the United States.
03:32At a press conference held Monday, the Party's Secretary General Diosdado Cabello denounced
03:39the United States' actions in the Caribbean region, which, with the support of the Trinidadian
03:44government, seek to take over Venezuela's natural resources.
03:48Cabello recalled the 26th anniversary of the new Bolivarian Constitution approved an unconsultative
03:53referendum on December 15, 1999, and highlighted that on that same day, but in 2006, the United
04:00Socialist Party of Venezuela was founded.
04:07It has been of pulling knowledge and notorious how they have laid their territory to covert operations
04:20that have led to the murder of individuals accused in no court of law, but only by the
04:26opinion of those who carry out the murders of drug trafficking.
04:32These operations, which have been taking place in the Caribbean, have had their base of operations
04:37in Trinidad and Tobago. Now, they are attacking our country by stealing the resources that belong
04:43to Venezuela. We are saying it, and assume full and absolute responsibility for it.
04:52And the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of our America reaffirmed its commitment to sovereignty
04:59and regional integration. During the 26th Summit of Heads of States and Government, member countries
05:04celebrate 21 years since its founding with a call for unity in the face of new hegemonic pretensions.
05:09Let's see.
05:13From the Caribbean, leaders also sent a message of peace and solidarity. Dominique expressed
05:17his support for the people of Venezuela and rejected the promotion of military conflicts
05:21against the region. Along the same lines, St. Lucia insisted on the need to maintain the
05:25region as a zone of peace, while Antigua and Barbuda emphasized the urgency of collective action
05:30and demanded climate justice for the most vulnerable nations.
05:37History has taught us that war solves nothing. What it does, is to bring more chaos and destruction
05:45in the long term for peoples. Therefore, I hope that we remember that history, and that
05:51we stop promoting war once and for all. Thank you very much, President, for your invitation.
05:57I hope to see you soon in Caracas, but you should know that you have friends and that your friends
06:04will stand in solidarity with you and with the people of Venezuela, with the free and dignified
06:11people of Venezuela.
06:18We continue to call for a region to remain a zone of peace, and we stand in solidarity with
06:25all nations, and peoples who wish to improve their lives and the quality of their life in the region.
06:32We strongly contend human trafficking, drug trafficking, and illegal weapons and ammunition.
06:42We are facing this, a major crisis today, which is the climate crisis, in all countries. This is not a distant danger, but a very close catastrophe.
06:57ALBA and its solidarity are essential for collective action. We must strengthen cooperation in climate adaptation, resilience, energy sovereignty, and advocate for justice.
07:12In addition, the defense of principles according to the foreign minister of Grenada, Joseph Andal, is crucial in the face of threats that repeat historical patterns.
07:22He urged that the protects used to justify interference in Latin America and the Caribbean be denounced.
07:28While from Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, it was recalled that the fundamental principles of the bloc are the guide for current diplomatic action.
07:35What we are seeing is a repetition of ancient history, and this points to the need for us to be vigilant, and to always persevere in solidarity with one another.
07:55We must be able to see and discern the pretexts that have been used to recolonize Latin America and the Caribbean.
08:06The foundations of ALBA help us to build on the cooperation and unity that guides us today.
08:18So, it is up to us to continue defending and promoting all the ideals, the purposes and principles of solidarity, complementarity, cooperation, respect for sovereignty, independence, politics, territorial integrity,
08:39non-intervention, non-intervention in internal affairs, states, and commitment to democracy and human rights.
08:48The final declaration of the summit reaffirmed the unity of the bloc as a mechanism for defending sovereignty.
08:54In addition, the creation of the International Energy and Electricity Mission was approved with the intention of supporting Cuba in the total restoration of electricity in the country.
09:03In this way, the member countries committed to demanding resolutions to global crises that impact the region.
09:12Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez thanked on Sunday the approved regional bloc initiative that seeks to boost the Caribbean Islands national power system.
09:21Through a post on his social media, ex the top diplomat chair, we welcome the decision of the 25th ALBA TCP summit on the initiative of President Nicolas Maduro
09:30to create this special international energy and electricity mission in support of the people of Cuba.
09:35This is yet another showcase of the essence of the alliance as a mechanism that places solidarity and cooperation among borderli peoples at the center of its work.
09:44Now we have our first break coming up, first remember you can join us on TikTok at Testo English where you will find news in different formats, news updates, and much more.
09:58We will be right back, stay with us.
10:00Welcome back.
10:12In Honduras, several incidents of unrest have been registered at the Electro-Logistics Center where the special count was scheduled to begin.
10:19Military personnel had to intervene in response to protests that prevented the start of the special vote count,
10:24in which more than 2,700 ballots with inconsistencies will be reviewed.
10:29According to complaints from political party witnesses, the situation arose after those responsible for conducting the special count refused to enter the tent to continue the process, delaying the special count.
10:40CNE Councillor Cosette Lopez asserted that she was prohibited from intervening in their actions.
10:46However, doubts remain given the inconsistencies, delaying the count, and the allegations of fraud against the TREP system and the electoral councillors.
11:02In this regard, the former President of Honduras and Secretary of the Libre Party, Manuel Zelaya, urged people to take to the streets of the country to demand the verification of all election records.
11:11Today, at 5 o'clock in the afternoon, let's take to the streets peacefully and firmly towards the infop to support our comrade Jorge Aldana and the band at the Sydney immediately approved the challenge to the 19,167 presidential records of the TREP.
11:28Opened the battle boxes to recount every vote, every record.
11:32We do not accept impositions.
11:34We do not accept dubious maneuvers.
11:36We do not accept the trampling of the will of the people.
11:39Not to foreign interference that stole the elections from us.
11:43And not to the electoral coup.
11:45Not to fraud.
11:46Not one is giving up.
11:56Mexican President Claudia Chainbaum warned of the advances of the far right in Latin America following the election of Pinochetes' Jose Antonio Kast as President of Chile.
12:07Evidentemente, nosotros queremos que haya más gobiernos cercanos al pueblo.
12:12Obviously, we want governments to be closer to the people.
12:16But decisions must always be made democratically.
12:21In the case of Chile, it was a democratic vote.
12:27The Chilean people chose who they want to govern them.
12:30I think this is a time for progressive movements in Latin America to reflect on why these circumstances are occurring.
12:42I don't think this will happen in Mexico because, number one, there is a lot of popular support for the government.
12:54Because we are delivering and we have not betrayed our commitment.
12:59Number two, there are results.
13:02Poverty and inequality have decreased.
13:06And the majority of Mexicans agree with the transformation our country is undergoing for that reason.
13:14And besides, there is unity here.
13:18Sometimes, where there is no unity in movements, support can decline.
13:23This is a decrease in support.
13:28A Mexican President, Claude Sheinbaum, ruled out that the application of tariffs on Asian imports would cause inflation in the country.
13:35In this regard, Sheinbaum assured that the measure would not impact the prices of basic products or supplies.
13:40The head of state explained that the tariff adjustments were designed to avoid affecting domestic consumption.
13:44And that in cases where there is a risk of price increases, the previous conditions were maintained so as not to pass costs on to consumers.
13:53In this scenario, the Secretary of Economy pointed out that the measure seeks to protect 350,000 jobs in different productive sectors and avoid impacts derived from imports.
14:05Also in Mexico, the government urged the population to take preventive measures in the face of the arrival of the polar wave, which will bring heavy rain and strong winds to the country.
14:28The weather event is expected to cause minimum temperatures of between minus 10 and minus 5 degrees Celsius in states such as Chihuahua, Durango, Tamaulipas, Yapas and Queretaro.
14:38In this sense, weatherfall is revealed that rainfall may reach high intensity causing landslides, river and stream overflows and flooding in low-laying areas.
14:47In addition, winds will reach speeds of between 50 and 60 km per hour, so the people must follow the instructions of the health and sewer protection sector.
14:56And in Bolivia, Defense Minister Marcelo Salinas confirmed that the death toll rose to 200 due to heavy rains and river flooding.
15:08The government stated that more than 10 people are missing due to river overflows in the city of Santa Cruz.
15:15In this scenario, authorities managed to evacuate 148 minors who were at the Orientation and Social Reintegration Center for Adolescents located in the municipality of El Torno, one of the areas most affected by the river overflowing.
15:27Security and armed forces continued to be deployed in the area to assist affected families.
15:32India reported traffic accidents, air service disruptions and an increase in respiratory illnesses due to a thick layer of fog covering the north of the country.
15:47The Central Pollution Control Board reported that in the capital city of New Delhi, air quality remained at a severe level with low visibility resulting in at least 40 vehicles being involved in multiple collisions.
15:58In this regard, airport authorities urged passengers to check the status of their flights due to possible cancellations caused by the weather conditions.
16:06Authorities also recommended that sports teams suspend their outdoor activities to protect civilians.

16:32Welcome back.
16:44Belarus and Iran evaluate initiatives for large-scale bilateral development projects.
16:49The Belarusian Foreign Minister Maxim Ryzenkov met with his Iranian counterpart Abbas Arakshi to discuss initiatives aimed at advancing the development of bilateral relations.
16:58Minsk and Tehran signed three cooperation documents on countering unilateral coercive measures and mitigating their impact as well as strengthening the role of international law.
17:07The Foreign Minister strongly condemned economic restrictions that violate international law and exacerbate tensions.
17:13In Yemen, the Foreign Ministry denounced new violations by the Israeli government.
17:42Two violations by the Israeli occupation in the Gaza Strip and the occupied West Bank.
17:46In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the government of Sana'a, recent violations of the ceasefire in the Palestinian enclave were highlighted, including the assassination of the leader of the Al Qasem Brigades, Raid Said Said.
17:57The Yemeni Foreign Ministry also warned that the Saronis entity has not complied with the entry of humanitarian aid or ended this aggression and blockade imposed on the Palestinian people.
18:06The Zogardo Germanic government called on the international community to urge the occupying forces to comply with the ceasefire deal and move forward with the second part of the agreement.
18:21On Sunday in Nigeria, West African leaders gathered for the 68th Summit of the Economic Community of West African States to deliberate on the future of regional integration, peace and stability.
18:36During the meeting, officials warned about the growing resurgence of unconstitutional changes of government as a threat to regional stability of the African bloc.
18:43The debates also included the impact of climate change on food security and the need for coordinated responses to floods and drought in the region.
18:50In this scenario, leaders also reviewed progress on economic integration, including ECOWAS trade liberalization plan, energy cooperation and infrastructure development.
19:05On Monday, the Chinese government denounced Japan's interference in the Liaoning aircraft carrier group's exercises in the East Chinese Sea.
19:15Chinese Defense Ministry spokesperson Yang Bin condemned Japan for creating risks to air safety during aircraft carrier exercises.
19:23He also said that Japan is deceiving its people and the international community by portraying China's exercises as a threat to safety.
19:29Yang Bin urged Japan to honestly examine the causes of the difficulties in Chinese-Japanese relations and take real measures.
19:35And in Germany, the Berlin police arrested 18 people who were participating in an anti-police protest, which ended in clashes with the officers.
19:50Hundreds took to the streets of the capital on Saturday after the city's parliament passed a security law expanding surveillance powers.
19:57The new bill grants the authority increased powers for physical and digital surveillance, including covert entry into homes to install spyware when remote access is unavailable.
20:07The incidents and the first confrontations with the police began shortly after the start of the demonstration.
20:12After the rally was dispersed and the 18 participants were arrested, the police maintained a strong presence to prevent the formation of new crowds.
20:20Anti-police demonstrations is held every year on December 13th in Berlin.
20:32And on Monday in France, workers at the Louvre Museum in Paris voted unanimously to continue their strike over working conditions and facility maintenance, forcing the museum to close its doors.
20:42Union leaders indicated that the 400 employees who attended the General Assembly held in the morning at the museum's facilities voted in favor of the strike, representing a historic figure.
20:51The Louvre's director, Laurence Descartes, is in the spotlight accused of prioritizing celebrations instead of tackling the renovation of the museum.
20:59In this scenario, the worker stated that despite the Minister of Culture recently meeting with the unions, the conditions to improve the situation are not in place.
21:07So the strike will continue.
21:16We want to tell the world that we disagree with the way the Louvre has been managed, we disagree with the budget allocations, we disagree with priorities that do not take into account our core mission.
21:27We have inherited a universal heritage, we are here to pass it on the future generations, and we believe that the current conditions do not allow us to be certain of this.
21:36There are two very important issues that keep coming up and that let all the staff present to vote in favor of one-day strike.
21:45These were working conditions and visiting conditions. I know that some visitors are wondering why we are taking this action. It is also for them, so that they can enjoy better visiting conditions.
21:59We have our second, we have our second break, no, but this, we have come to the end of this news brief. You can find this and many other stories on our website at www.telesourenglish.net.
