00:16have been committed by the United States and Israel since February 28th.
00:25Thousands of Catholics across the world celebrate Easter Sunday with ancient rituals and family gatherings.
00:3777 dead and hundreds injured have been reported in Afghanistan amid heavy rains associated with a storm battery in most
00:44of the country.
00:52Hello and welcome to From the South. My name is Pablo Micheliche from the Telesurio Studios in Caracas, Venezuela.
00:58We begin with the news. Stay with us.
01:21Iran has denounced before the international community the crimes against humanity that have been committed by the United States and
01:27Israel since February 28th.
01:29The Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Avaksar, actually stated that the international community must take note of the crimes against
01:36humanity committed since February 28th that have been caused the death of thousands of civilians.
01:43Avaksar noted that some countries have focused their discourse solely on the economic repercussions of the conflict while overlooking violations
01:51of international law.
01:52The official also pointed out that the Strait of Hormuz was closed as a defensive measure to prevent enemy forces
01:59from using this strategic point in their attacks against Iran.
02:09On Sunday, Iran launched the 93th wave of missiles targeted an energy structure belonging to the United States and its
02:16allies in the Middle East as part of the True Promise Fourth Operation.
02:20The Revolutionary Guard of Iran stated that they had attacked the enemy's economic interests including a heavy attack on the
02:27fuel refinery in Haifa and an attack on gas installations belonging to the U.S. companies ExxonMobil and Chevron in
02:35Hadshan in the United Arab Emirates.
02:37The Guard also announced missile attacks on U.S. fuel-producing petrochemical companies causing extensive fires in roadways in the
02:46U.A.A.
02:47and a heavy drone attack on U.S. petrochemical companies responsible for supplying petroleum products to the U.S. Army.
02:55Furthermore, petrochemical installations were attacked causing a huge fire and the complete shutdown of the complex in Alshuaiba, Kuwait.
03:03Tehran advised that this is only the first phase of their response to the attacks and if they continue, it
03:09will be more destructive and extensive and their losses will increase.
03:18Israeli police carried out at least 17 arrests during the repression on a protest held Saturday in Tel Aviv where
03:25dozens of demonstrators expressed the rejection of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his words in the Middle East.
03:31The repression occurred just hours after Israel's Supreme Court issued an interim order restricting authorities from dispersing gatherings of fewer
03:41than 600 people in Tel Aviv, Habima Square and 150 in other cities including Jerusalem, Haifa and Kofar Sabah.
03:48Despite the court order, police declared the protests illegal claiming the number of participants exceeded the limit while activists at
03:56the protests accused police of disproportionate force.
04:06Iran confirmed the country's military down to a C-130 plane and two Black Hawk helicopters of the U.S.
04:14Air Force amid the U.S. mission in southern Isfahan to locate a missing officer.
04:18Previously, Iran had also shot down a U.S. MQ-9 Reaper drone that was flying over its airspace.
04:26Since early Saturday, the U.S. military has been carrying out a military search and rescue operation to locate the
04:33last missing crew member of the F-15 jet shot down on Friday.
04:37For its part, the Islamic Revolution got cops made a statement detailing the U.S. defeat during said operation, adding
04:44that the Iranian forces have managed to destroy several U.S. warplanes.
04:48The announcement comes after U.S. President Donald Trump claimed in a social media post that his country's military had
04:55rescued the official.
05:05On his truth social account, President Trump confirmed the search and rescue operation in Iranian territory where the U.S.
05:12military found the last missing crew member, a weapons officer, that reportedly suffered injuries.
05:18According to Trump, the U.S. military sent dozens of heavily armored aircraft to the Persian nation for the operation
05:26carried out by hundreds of special troop soldiers.
05:29The official had been missing since Friday when Iran's military shot down an F-15 jet belonging to U.S.
05:35military that was flying over Iranian airspace.
05:43Moving now to Bahrain, a fire consumed the facilities of the Bakko refinery, the main energy company in the country,
05:50following a missile attack attributed to Iran amid the regional military escalation.
05:55According to the country's Ministry of Interior, civil defense crews have extinguished a fire in the facility that broke out
06:02as a result of the aggression.
06:03The direct impact triggered multiple explosions at this plant, which produces approximately 267,000 barrels per day and constitutes the
06:14primary food source for the U.S. Navy's Fifth Fleet.
06:18The attack occurs in a context in which producers such as Qatar, Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates have reduced
06:25their pumping due to the closing of the Strait of Hormus.
06:34On Saturday, German's armed forces launched a strike on the Ben Gurion airport and several Israeli military sites using ballistic
06:41missiles and drones.
06:42This is part of the resistance response to the ongoing Israeli operations in the Middle East.
06:50Our armed forces, with the help of God Almighty, carried out the fifth military operation, using a cluster ballistic missile,
06:58and a number of drones, targeting Lod airport in the Jaffa area, as well as vital and military targets of
07:05the Israeli enemy in southern occupied Palestine.
07:10The Yemeni armed forces salute all the great Yemeni people, the people of faith and wisdom, for their massive turnout
07:17in Sana'a, and across the governorates, districts, and villages, rejecting the Zionist plan, and confronting the equation of violation
07:26that the enemy seeks to impose on our nation.
07:28We will continue our military operations within the axis of jihad and resistance until victory is achieved.
07:37Moving now to Indonesia.
07:39The bodies of three U.N. peacekeepers entering force in Lebanon were received after they were killed in an Israeli
07:45airstrike during the recent attack on Beirut.
07:47The Akarta International Airport was the setting for a funeral ceremony led by President Prabowo Subianto, where senior officials and
07:55the family members paid their last respects to the officers.
07:58In Indonesia, Foreign Minister Suyono reiterated his condemnation of the attack and called for an investigation before the U.N.
08:06Security Council.
08:06Despite the incident and the fact that three other soldiers were injured in separate incidents, the Covnography missed international commitment
08:14by announcing the deployment of 750 new troops for the next month's rotation.
08:25Senegal announced the suspension of non-essential official travel abroad as a consequence of rising fuel prices due to the
08:32war in the Middle East.
08:33During a youth event in Melbourne, Senegal East Prime Minister Ousmane Rosonko warned that the increase in crude oil prices
08:41is affecting budget projections.
08:43In response, he suspended all non-essential international travel for senior officials, canceling his own business to Niger, Spain and
08:51France.
08:52Rosonko also announced that the Minister of Energy will soon explain the measures to mitigate the impact on prices.
09:04And now we have a short break coming up, but first remember you can join us on TikTok at Telesur
09:08English, where you will find news in different formats, news updates, and much more.
09:13We will be right back and stay with us.
09:45Welcome back.
09:45We will be right back and stay with us.
10:14We will be right back and stay with us.
10:23We are here to express our grief and outrage over the loss of our comrade, our brother, who fought for
10:29us and defended the people.
10:31He is a hero of the people.
10:33He died and was killed like a dog.
10:35We can't stand by and do nothing, which is why we have taken to the streets.
10:39We are going to demand justice.
10:42In the Vatican, pilgrims gather in San Spirit Square for Easter Sunday Mass as Port Leo 14 leads the celebration.
10:50This sacred event marks the most important day of Holy Week, symbolizing the resurrection of Jesus Christ and commemorating his
10:57message of salvation and unity for humanity.
10:59The event included the celebration of the Easter Mass and the Urbi et Orbi blessing, granted only twice a year,
11:07which confers forgiveness for sins committed.
11:09At the gathering held at the Vatican, the believers thanked the Pope for the openness he has promoted within the
11:16Catholic Church, his efforts to reintegrate marginalized groups in Latin America into society,
11:22and his messages of peace to the international community amid the armed conflicts facing the world.
11:41He's definitely more charismatic and he hasn't been afraid to speak his mind regarding certain things that are going on
11:52in the world at the moment.
11:53He addresses everything.
11:55Yeah, he has addressed everything.
11:57I think so far that has happened in the 12 months that he's been in.
12:02And being from the U.S. and at the same time having some ties to Latin America makes him a
12:09very important Pope.
12:10And I think above cultures will identify with him and at the same time that will bring the church together.
12:18And we go now to South Korea.
12:21Easter celebrations took place with a parade that brought together hundreds of citizens in the Gwangwamun Square.
12:27The event transformed the city center into a stage for cultural exhibitions and parades featuring festive costumes that highlight the
12:35religious identity of the local Christian community.
12:38This festival is not only an act of spiritual faith but also functions as a driver of social cohesion promoting
12:44an atmosphere of brotherhood and shared joy among the residents.
12:48The festive ambience lasted throughout the day highlighting the hospitable and multicultural character of South Korea's modern capital.
13:00And the Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro sent a message of faith and hope to Venezuela and the world.
13:06Via his social media accounts, the President said,
13:08Beloved people of Venezuela, sisters and brothers of our homeland peoples of the world.
13:13On this Easter Sunday, Celia and I wish to share a message of love, peace and hope.
13:18Holy Week reminds us of a very deep truth.
13:21There is no resurrection without passion.
13:23First comes the cross, the pain and the sacrifice, but then comes new life.
13:28Jesus said to Martha,
13:29Your brother will rise again, John chapter 11, verse 23.
13:32And then he assures her,
13:35I am the resurrection and the life.
13:36Whoever believes in me, even if he dies, will live.
13:40John chapter 11, verses 25 and 26.
13:44That is our first point.
13:45The one who raised Lazarus also rose.
13:48The one who raises dead and has risen.
13:51And that is why hope is never lost.
13:54The leader continues.
13:55Martha responds to Jesus with a simple and firm faith.
13:58Yes, Lord, I believe that you are the Christ, the Son of God.
14:03John chapter 11, verse 27.
14:05That is where it all begins believing.
14:08Then Jesus said,
14:09Take away the stone.
14:11John chapter 11, verse 39.
14:13And later he cries out,
14:15Lazarus come forth.
14:16John chapter 11, verse 43.
14:19That gospel also speaks to us today.
14:21It tells us that we must remove the stone of hatred, of lies, of division and of resentment.
14:27It calls us to step out of everything that keeps us trapped inside.
14:33And when the Lord says,
14:35He is teaching us that resurrection also means healing, setting free, forgiving, reconnecting and walking together again.
14:42Finally, the Venezuelan president wrote,
14:44That is why this Easter Sunday is a time to declare with conviction that this is the victory of life
14:51and truth.
14:51Death does not prevail.
14:53Christ prevails.
14:55Life does not prevail.
14:56Truth prevails.
14:57Hatred does not prevail.
14:58Love prevails.
14:59And that victory calls us to seek unity, dialogue, reconciliation and peace among all people.
15:05Furthermore, the rising Lord leaves us a beautiful and eternal promise.
15:09I am with you always even to the end of the age.
15:13Matthew chapter 28, verse 20.
15:16That is our third certainty.
15:18Until the end of time, Christ accompanies his people.
15:22May the rising Lord bless Venezuela and the peoples of the world and fill us with faith, love and hope.
15:36And we have a second short break coming up.
15:38But before we invite you to visit our Facebook page at Telesur English.

15:53We will be right back.
15:54Stay with us.
16:13Welcome back.
16:14In El Salvador, the NGO Judicial Humanitarian Help is accusing the Bukele government of crimes against humanity.
16:20They say 512 people reportedly have died while detained under the state of emergency implemented by President Nayib Bukele since
16:29March 2022.
16:30And they urge the government to grant freedom, justice and reparations to thousands of innocent people unjustifiably held.
16:37In a statement posted on social media, the NGO cited murder, imprisonment or severe deprivation of liberty, invalidation of international
16:45law, torture, political persecution and false disappearance and the false transfer of populations.
16:51They later making reference especially to Venezuelans sent to the Cicot mega prison.
16:58They argue that 94% of the deceased prisoners had not gained record and that the actual number of deaths
17:04in state custody could exceed 2,000.
17:13In Mexico, the family of Royer Perez Jimenez, a migrant who died in a United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement
17:20Detention Center, is demanding an investigation to clarify the circumstances of his death.
17:24Family and friends gathered in San Juan, Chiamula, Mexico, to be farewell to the young immigrant.
17:32A 19-year-old Royer was found dead at an immigration facility in Florida operated by U.S. Immigration and
17:38Customs Enforcement.
17:39During the funeral, relatives assured the family is not convinced by the official report issued by U.S. authorities regarding
17:45his cause of death and denounced the charges that held him in custody were unjust.
17:56What we want is a thorough investigation because, unfortunately, we do not believe that the death of Royer Perez Jimenez
18:04was a suicide.
18:05Rather, we suspect that it was probably a homicide.
18:10Regrettably, the U.S. government has not convinced us with the report it has issued on the matter.
18:30The Mexican government reported an ongoing operation to address the presence of crude along the Gulf of Mexico coastline, following
18:38a recent spill informing 894 tons of oil have been collected.
18:42In this regard, the government on Bill 32 of the 48 affected beaches are now free of oil in Tabasco
18:49and Veracruz.
18:50The cleanup and oil recovery efforts involve the participation of 3,365 personnel deployed through more than 630 kilometers of
19:00coastal line, performing as well maritime and aerial operations, including reconnaissance flights and oil sampling.
19:07The operation follows a recent spill that has raised pollution concerns from activists and residents as hydrocarbon residues continue to
19:16wash ashore on multiple beaches.
19:25More than 70 dead and hundreds injured have been reported in Afghanistan amid heavy rains associated with a storm battery
19:31in most of the country.
19:33According to official data, at least 77 people died and 137 were injured due to the weather-related incidents.
19:39Heavy rainfall caused floods and landslides that affected 3,466 homes and 337 kilometers of roads.
19:47The impact on agriculture includes 11,676 hectares of crops and 121 damaged irrigation systems, affecting 5,811 families.
19:59The Department of Meteorology forecast that rain will continue in the coming days, maintaining a high risk of further flooding.
20:11And like this, we have come to the end of this news brief.
